Super Cool!!! I could use one of those. I will be using a much smaller UAS to obtain high resolution/low altitude aerials to complement satellite photography while we do a geological evaluations of several remote sites on the western part of the US as part of a space program project.
I am not sure what you mean by top level of AAU. As far as aI know there are U14 and U10 programs but basically anyone older than 15 plays at the same level, just different regions. So Bragg and Lightfoot played at the same AAU level just different regions. Yes. I understand that some of the regions. such Chicago, New York, LA, Washington DC are stronger, but Bragg played in Ohio which is not necessarily at the top of the list.
FWIW, KU beat Oklahoma 3-0 last evening. If it is any consolation .you can watch instead the KSU-OU volleyball game Friday at 9:30 PM...still no KU... :(
Thanks to Zenger, most Kansas residents can watch KSU and not KU sports...maybe that was his plan all along.
Yes, you absolutely can...I have been bitching about this for a while now. BTW, women's basketball is also blacked out in the state of Kansas and KC Metro area as is most every sport worth watching that is not on national TV or part of the other school's TV feed; I was able to watch the KU Texas Tech. volleyball game on the Texas Tech feed.
Well...that sucked... :(
What do you have to do to get a strike called a strike in Canada?
Lightfoot is up to #99 as per the ESPN rankings. With the KU bump and a good senior H S season and the additional exposure that he will get now that he is on the radar of the press, it is conceivable that he could finish in the top 50.
BTW, Thon Maker is still available and apparently much improved and beefier than last season; is KU still interested? Is Maker going to skip college and go directly to the pros?.
Then you should also have a problem with Carlton Bragg since he played in one of the lower HS basketball division in Ohio...but he had that East Coast exposure that Lightfoot did not. School Divisions are based on school sizes and not the level of competition; although statistically one could argue that the bigger schools could have the better talent, but then, a lot of the smaller prep schools/basketball factories play in lower divisions as well or in no division at all. As far as AAU, TTBOMK, there is only one top division and different zones and he played decent competition in the Arizona/West Coast regions. The camps he attended are by invitation only and you have to be top 100 to attend; once he got the exposure, a lot of big programs came calling and he started the recruiting process again. After watching quite bit of video from him, I am of the opinion that he will be a pleasant surprise. While he is listed as PF, he really played Center in HS but a lot of the scouts think that he can easily switch to SF since he has decent outside shot. I believe you are underestimating Lightfoot
So...Pete Rose is a very flawed and unlikable individual. I have posted before that he does not seem to be a very nice person but on the field he played with more passion than any player I can think of. He is one of the top players of all time and was also a successful manager, and thus he brings a lot of knowledge to the table. More importantly, he picked the Royals to win in 5 games...:)
Toronto led the majors in HR with 232, in comparison KC had 139 for the season, I believe that Toronto also led the League in runs scored from HRs. The long ball was supposed to be their forte and apparently it took the day off today. :)
Pete Rose was one hell of a player and if not for his off-the-filed shenanigans he would have been a unanimous first vote Hall of Fame inductee. He knows the game better than most analysts; do you know he is the only player in history to play at least 500 games at 5 different positions? Think about it...at least 500 games at 5 different positions!!!
I guess the long ball proved to be fool's gold for Toronto... :D
I posted yesterday...hopefully the bats come alive earlier tomorrowβ¦
They have exceeded expectations!!!
Weber can flat out coach, he cannot recruit...or keep players.
Kevin Young was 6'-7" 185 lbs. soaking wet, Lightfoot is 6'-8" 210 lbs., much stronger, better athletically and a good 3 point shooter. Young was a very opportunistic and smart rebounder and very good for is size but, IMHO, Dekker is the better comparison.
I was tied up in teleconference and whe I turned on the game our boys are up 4-0 ...dang...and I mean DANG.!!! :) :) :)
Mitch did not have the elite conference East-West Coast, big city exposure than the other kids have and has been flying under the radar. He might surprise a lot of people.
Frans is not a bad judge of talent and really not a bad analyst...unless his kid's team is involved...:)
I would invite P Diddy and while he is introducing the players, play the video of him beatch-slapping Drake and sending him to the hospital...
Mitch Lightfoot would be a good get for KU. Playing in Arizona, he has not had the exposure the East and West cost players have or that of the big cities such Chicago so he has basically been flying under the radar.
He is described as an elite athlete that can shoot the three and if you see his tapes he has a good jumper in addition to many inside moves; he can also rebound and block. He has been described as the next Sam Dekker...not a bad thing. I would not be surprised to see him play much like Perry but he could also slide to the SF slot since he has a better 3-point shot than Perry had when he started at KU.
Looks like solid 4 year player that could surprise a lot of people, much like he did at several of the camps where he was finally noticed and started getting interest from the big programs.
Well...at least our boys made the final score respectable and hopefully the bats come alive earlier tomorrow...
Amen, sista...:)
Indeed, steal one on the road and win it out at home.
Chip away at the lead and whack them but good in the ninth. :) :) :)
Read the first paragraph...there is a reason why most college sports seasons span only one semester.
I know it does not seem that way and you can call me old fashioned, but universities are still places where individuals got to study and get a degree first and play sport second...at least that is the way I believe it should be....Extending the seasons just to just to showcase student-athletes for pro-scouts is actually more" pimping" than compressing the season...just my opinion.
Who was in charge of tightening the lug nuts? Looks like the wheels are coming apart...:(
On the other hand...never count the boys in blue out...:)
I believe he is talking about starting the season in late December and going through April; basically moving it back one month but not really changing the length that much. Not really a big change but gives students one semester to practice and get their school work in order and then apply themselves to basketball the second semester.
If you look at all the major college sports, the great majority of them have seasons that span one semester including football, baseball, soccer, softball, volleyball, track and field, cross country, lacrosse...to name a few; the only major college sports that have seasons than last the better part of two semesters are basketball and ice hockey. So the idea is not that far fetched and in many ways, it makes sense.
Even if Cheick is available early, he is pretty raw and not nearly the savant Embiid is/was so I believe that Hunter will get the minutes going in and Cheick might get more playing time as the season develops and depending on how well he adapts.
Mitch Lightfoot will be announcing his choice of school next Saturday...
I lived in the Towers when they were still private and at the time they were consider very nice. I understand that after the remodel they were even nicer and much better than those in other schools. I am not surprised Perry did not have a problem with them.
I understand that the new digs run about 10K per year...
That was the first thing that came to mind and I thought she/he was prospect for the women's basketball team. Having said that, the boy named Sue was tough SOB...according to the song and maybe Lauri is one as well...:)
...of course...
P.S.: I just love it when board rats try to one up me. It keeps me young.
And how exactly did I do this? I simply mentioned that the Markkanens were from Finland and not Denmark and you made it into a completely unrelated story.
By the way, Erno Saarinen studied in France and yes, YALE in the ol' USA and he was not influenced and he did not consider himself part of the Danish or more aptly named Scandinavian Modern movement, but part of the American Modern Movement along with other great architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright.
As far as I know, this is still a basketball/sports forum and I am sure most posters don't give a rat's ass about architecture. This is my last post on this subject and I am getting back to sports.
The moment you place your bet the odds are locked for you but the odds are changing all the time to balance the money wagered. The current odds have Royals as favorites, of course, the Mets next and Toronto last...a complete reversal from previous days; it definitely paid to bet on the Royals and Mets when they were the longer shots. :)
...except much like his father Pekka. the Markkanens are from Finland and not Denmark...
Typical Royals baseball. Lure them into complacency and them whack them with 5 runs in the7th.
Team of destiny...
I will see if I can post the latest line/odds after the game...
I am not sure what stats you are referring to, the ones I posted came form looking at the teams in the finals and not a publication. If you give me more details, I am pretty sure I can find them for you
Th team played well today and had a good chance to win the game, down by 3, with the ball and about 5 minutes left on the clock. Unfortunately our young and inexperienced QB made 3 mistakes in a row the last one resulting in an interception that sealed the game.
Al things considered, not a bad outing for KU.
Here is an interesting stat:
Largest cities in the US and the last 8 teams in the playoffs; Teams in Bold are the finalists::
-
- Toronto, Canada- Blue Jays (#1 Canada Metro Area)
-
- New York - Mets, (#1 Metro Area)
-
- Los Angeles - Dodgers (#2 Metro Area)
-
- Chicago - Cubs (#3 Metro Area)
-
- Houston - Astros (#10 Metro Arera)
-
- Dallas - Rangers (#8 Metro Area)
-
- Kansas City - Royals (#26 Metro Area)
-
- St,. Louis - Cardinals (#21 Metro Area)
It sure look looks like KC and St. Louis overachieved. I am sure the Networks hate the small TV market in KC and would have preferred one of the big markets.
This is Phase I of the project and the actual breakdown is 17 athletes and 21 non-athletes. When Phase 2 is completed, it will host 66 student of which 28 will be athletes and 38 non-athletes.
Cubs still the favorite. I am surprised the Royals are not getting much love...bulletin board material?
Phase I of the project houses only 38 students βof which only half can be athletes. I will guess that 19 slots are taken by the basketball team (15) plus student assistants and the other 19 by student related to the athletes or wealthy students...I bet staying there does not come cheap.
Looks like a group of girls at a Flintstones Halloween party.
That better not be McCarty Hall because if that is the best location they could find, then I am not impressed; looking at the walls, paint and floor looks like an older building.
If you say so...:)
Vegas has Toronto as the favorite to win it all and KC is second. In the AL Toronto is favorite over the Royals and the Cubs seem to the big favorite in the NL.
Great...as long as you don't break any NCAA rules...
The emoji at th end of my post should have been your clue. I was just trying to spare you from having @HighEliteMajor beatch-slap you for suggesting big minutes for Jamari. :D
Manning getting big minutes? :D
Not bad. 3 Big 12 teams in the top 8 and 5 in the top 23...still the toughest conference from top to bottom.
