I hope you know that your effort is really appreciated by all Jayhawk fans that need a daily dose of basketball news to make it though the day... :)
I mentioned that Cueto would deliver 6 strong innings, he did me 2 better and delivered 8...and he could have gone 9. I had friends over and it was crazy once the rally started...the Chiefs need to take lessons from the boys in blue on how to close games. :)
Didn't he start weak and finishd strong on his last outing? Hopefully he cans start strong and deliver 6 solid innings...
...it took Snyder a lot less time to re-build the program after the Ron Prince fiasco.
FYI, Perry's interview starts around the 18:00 mark...
Sorry, we were both incorrect. Duke has 11 players on scholarship and 2 players that are not on scholarships this season ↗that are likely getting one this season, like some players do at KU when scholarships ares available, They have two seniors leaving which will give them 4 available scholarships, assuming the two players go back to being non-scholarship players and they have 3 commits, so, unless someone else goes pro or transfers, they have only one scholarship available.
Based on the latest news, I see Bolden as a KU lean and not Duke. Keep in mind that Duke has only two senior on the roster and they have already signed 3 players, which means at least one underclassman will have to leave, transfer or go off scholarship, assuming they do not sign anyone else. Sure they can sign two more players such Giles and Bolden but that means 3 returning players lose their scholarship...that is a lot and would not reflect well on the program. If I were a betting man, I would guess that Duke gets at most maybe one more player or none.
Duke has only two senior on the team, Plumlee and Jefferson, and they already have signed 3 players so at least one underclassman will need to leave, transfer or go off scholarship as it stand now; I am not sure they can sign two additional players without substantial disruption.. Duke has several players 6'9' or taller coming back and another PF signed. Duke will not have as much playing time for the bigs as KU and as I indicated it is limited on scholarships.
I juts don't see a problem...yet. 10 of the top 20 player have not signed and, of the players that have signed, some are going to programs such as NC State, Florida State, Alabama, Washington, Villanova, not necessarily power house programs.
Unfortunately we are in the age of instant gratification and top players want to go to programs where they will get lots of playing time and where they will be the big fish in the big pond, even when most are not ready. Their percepti0n of their skills and reality sometimes are worlds apart.
Also, the latest conference ranking have the Big 12 as the toughest conference from top to bottom...do you think that some recruits choose to go a -bigger but not as tough- conference with its own network and bigger audience such as the Big 10? Michigan State seems to be doing well with the upcoming class, while KU which will have several games blacked out is not? Just a thought...
The Rangers also lost. I bet both teams will be asking him to stop posting...sports people are very superstitious...:D
I would if I saw that if, IMHO, the direction of the AD is the right one for the football program; I just don't see SZ having that priority. Zenger's priority seem to be building up the smaller, non-revenue producing sports at the cost of the big revenue producing programs. Traditionally, football is the biggest revenue produce at most schools and even at KU, the program is in the black...and even Zenger is smart enough not to mess with basketball.
Frankly, how many people really give a rat's a$$ about women;s rowing, golf or tennis? The only reason they even exist is because KU needs female participation to comply with Title IX; there are more women's than men's sports at KU. KU's Athletic Budget has a surplus, so lacks of money is not an issue.
Woo Hoo...what a come back...
Are the Astros just a bad match up for the Royals?
Killing his cell mate is only the last of a long, long, long history of crime by Phillips. I believe he was in jail for a 12 year term? Now he will likely stay there for life.
Keep in mind that his crime spree started when he was rich and famous,,,he seems to be a text book sociopath.
KU's contract with Adidas is almost twice as large as Kentucky...and when you consider that the equipment Adidas provides is counted at wholesale cost (~50%) of retail) and the equipment Nike provides is counted at full retail cost, then the contract is well over twice as large.
UK's football program is nothing to write home about, although they did beat MU this season and they seem to do fine financially as does KU. KU's football program does not seem to affect the apparel contract and KU's contract with Adidas is over twice s a big as Kentucky.
As far as fund raising, watching the stadium Saturday with less people than there were for the Spring practice does not help; if I was a recruit, I would not want to come to KU to play on an empty stadium either, regardless of how much playing time is available.. I understand the team sucks but having an empty stadium does not help improve the program. Frankly, I laugh when people claim that increasing the capacity of the stadium to 80,000 would improve the program; even during the Orange bowl season I don't believe the stadium was ever fully sold out .
If Zenger would find exposure for the main sports programs on National TV instead of getting exposure for the minor programs on a regional sports channel and in the process antagonizing the majority of fans, then maybe there would be more interest and more funds could be raised.
Thinks about it...why would I contribute to and AD that goes out of it way to block me from watching the sports I really want to watch?
Maybe he can get Lawrence Phillips to the spokesman for the store...all the way from his cell in California.
Why exactly is this disgusting? Is it because our AD is not smart enough to do it and instead negotiates a stupid contract with TWC/Metro Sports that blacks out the entire state? Considering all the national publicity they are getting, I would take their AD anytime, he seems to be much better at marketing the program than Zenger.
Only Nebraska fans can love Ndamukong Suh, the dirtiest player in the NFL.
Interesting UK has its first practice on ESPNU on cable, and by what the analyst are saying, sounds like they have been there for more than one day and the broadcast sounds like an infomercial for UK. KU gets its flagship Late Night on ESPN3, internet only...and blacked out for the entire state. Advantage UK. :( :( :(
P,S, Cal is there; practice officially opened last Friday.
I must be missing something. How do any of my posts in this thread relate to Durant vs. Wiggins? Just curious...
BTW, did you check the box core of the game when Wiggins faced LeBron? Here is the video...
[Link to video...](
I am not sure if you meat to address your post to me since I did not mention Wiggins or Durant. FWIW, you are talking about one of the top two or three players ni the NBA and past MVP and scoring champion against a rookie...do you think Wiggins was going to outplay Durant? I think not. On the other hand, did you checks the scoreboard of the game when Wiggins played against LeBron? Check that scoreboard...I think you will be shocked.
I would be surprised if any of the top 20 players left signs anytime soon, my guess is that they will wait until the end of the season like they did last season. I hope I am wrong though and that KU indeed signs 2 top players at AFH right after this evening's event.
Zav Levine is now the starting guard for the Wolves next to Rubio and he is an integral part of the Wolves rebuilding plans. He also won the slam dunk contest and if you look at his stats for the later part of last season you will see that he is a star in the making...he is only 20 years old.
The Chuck Taylor All Star II is what Cary Grant would have worn...if he ever wore sneakers...'nough said. I am getting a pair of black Chuckie Twos...:)
The best pro basketball League in Europe is Spain, no question about it. Now if you are talking about club competition, then the Euroleague or European Champions' Cup has the 18 best teams, including the CSKA Moscow which has an A license (automatic entry).
My youngest grand daughter will be one year old in 3 weeks. The 15 year old grandson is out with his GF and my 13 year old granddaughter is spending the nigh with me since school is out tomorrow...she does not care much about baseball. :(
AT 6' 10" Chris Young could play Center for KU...too bad he used up his eligibility at Princeton.
I might take you up on the offer one of these days. :)
I don't mind the baby sitting at all.
In my area (Olathe) we have access to Comcast. Consolidated Communications (SureWest), Google and ATT (in the near future); TWC is not available to us. Of all the available providers, only Comcast carries the KC Sports Channel., and when I inquired about switching last year, I could not get a straight answer from them...there is a reason why the Comcast Customer Support Department is considered the worst of any business in the country.
The NCAA has tons of publications on the subject and they are readily available to student through High School coaches, academic advisers, internet, social media...you name it. I hate to be blunt but any kid that has aspirations to play college ball and does not know the rules, should not be going to college in the first place; it is the equivalent of smoking and then claiming you did not know it caused cancer.
We have to stop the culture of blaming someone else for individual shortcomings. Why is it that we fixate on the handful of incomplete applications that do not go through smoothly and not in the 100,000 other properly submitted applications that sail through with out a problem?
I am sorry, but a kid that takes money or improper benefits in this day and age, when every single one has a cell phone with access to all kinds of information, and then claims he did not know, he is either not telling the truth or is not college material.
I believe that a kid that wants to play pro-ball should not have to go to college...and many don't, but if he chooses to go to college as away of preparing for the next level, then he should follow the rules in place like every other student-athlete. It is really that simple.
Maryland was one of the first Under Armor school. The founder of Under Armor attended college at Maryland and got the initial ideas for sports gear while playing football there. Maryland is to Under Armor what Oregon is to Nike.
Here’s what’s driving this insanity. MLB is scared to death of football. This is not an anti-football rant, but I tire of 12 months of football coverage that is now prevalent. MLB is afraid fans won’t watch games if college football games or pro football games are on.
Have you considered that MLB might be right? Football, both professional and college, are considerably more popular than baseball and given the choice, most fans, other than those hardcore baseball fans will watch football over baseball. Over the last 20-30 years the popularity of baseball and Ice Hockey has decreased considerably to the point that other than the playoffs and a games in a few Northern cities, you cannot watch ice hockey games other than on cable networks. Baseball games are regularly played throughout the season during the day on weekdays, why should it be any different for the payoffs? Just askin'...
Plain, simple, elegant...CLASSICS!!! My kind of shoe.
Bolden seem to be Duke lean at this time and so is Harry Giles. What are the chances of Duke getting both of them? If KU does not get either one, what are Snacks chances of staying at KU?
Simien was a Consensus 1st team All-American, Big 12 Player of the Year and the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award winner recognizing him as the nation's top senior men's basketball player...all of this in his senior year. Hard to get all these awards if you have been kicked out from the team half way though the season for stabbing someone...really laughable.
Giddens left KU after his sophomore year under a mutual agreement ..and he he did not do any stabbing as much as he was at the receiving end of one.
TRob was a physical player but not a dirty one and I do not recall anything like that happening in the finals. Obviously your co-worker subscribes to the theory that you don't get facts get in the way of a good...make that a poor story. :)
This “hot seat” stuff shouldn’t even be asked, because it simply is irrational to do so within the context of the roster talent, almost none of which is to be blamed on Beaty. Blame him about 3+ years from now, if he actually deserves blame at that point.
I couldn't agree with you more. This "hot seat" talk after 3 games is what has gotten KU where he is. Anyone with football knowledge knows this is a 3-5 year plan and it will take every bit of it to turn the program around.
Like I said all long, and having first hand experience in the subject of getting foreign academic records, it sounds more and more that it is his paperwork from Mali that is holding the process.
As far as Skal, he transferred his senior year to Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis , but because of the transfer, he was found to be ineligible to play basketball for Lausanne Collegiate School, so his guardian created the "Reach your Dream" Prep School so he could play basketball his senior year...as a team it was pretty bad. Again, he only played basketball for Reach your Dream and he did his academic work at Lausanne Collegiate School....and that is the rest of the story...
While Coach Self is technically a state employee, only a small part of his salary is paid by KU/State; the bulk of his salary is paid through Kansas Athletics Inc., a separate 501(c)(3) athletic associations, that manages things such as private donations, ticket revenue and commercialized dollars.
You go girl...you get the best links...
Maybe I should have written "gurl" like the young people (that flunked English 101) do... :D
Amen to that, The one team we can always count to do well...
Switching to the Royals...the Chief losing big in Cincinnati, 36-18, all 18 point from field goals...looks like another long season. Thank God for the Royals ...and KU Volley Ball... :)
I am not sure if I understand what you want. Are you asking someone to get a ball, get it signed by all the players on the team and have it shipped to you for under $150. I can get you a KU ball with no signatures and send it to you for under $150...I can even sign all the names myself for you at no charge; however, if you want one with real signatures, the $150 costs is hard to beat.
I am not sure if you would even be allowed anywhere where the entire team is (practice) at any one time other than maybe media day and get all the signatures ,and chasing all the individual players would take a long time (and cost) and I am not sure if they are even allowed to do this anymore...remember Johnny Football? I believe the signing policy has been tightened up quite a bit since then.
You can always check places like "Kansas Sampler" which is a reputable vendor or take your chances with EBay. All things considered, the $150 for the ball with all the signatures looks like a very reasonable price. Just my opinion and with the caveat that I might not be understanding what you want.
Shoulder sprain...Cozart done for the day...
ISU responds with quick TD...can't catch a break ...:(
Cozart is just blah, not good and not bad but he has little to work with. 49 yards rushing and 150 passing in 3 quarters will not do it.
Just now, KU intercepts deep in its own territory and returns the ball for a TD...the highlight of the game so far...
I was trying to get some Computer work done while watching KU but the game is getting out of hand. TCU beating Texas 44-0 so likely that will be the headline in the news and not KU... :)
...and ISU responds with quick TD...31-6. Time to star watching the Royals instead...
You are absolutely correct. KU fans have a soft spot for Coach Brown, but I believe it is time to take the blinders off and see the entire picture...and it is not pretty. The two year "show cause" penalty makes him pretty much unemployable anywhere else.
Yeap, and they are kicking KU's butt 24-0. TCU is beating Texas 37-0 so at least we are not the worst conference team today...although the days is still young.
