I have noticed that some of the ranking services tend to be way behind and don't upgrade often enough to reflect current play so ranking could be way different the next update.
Mamma thinks Billy can be making millions playing elsewhere so I would not be surprised if he explores those options. In the words of former football player Anthony Collins..."Mama's Gotta Eat."
Smart...not Shak Smart, smart but smart, smart.😁
Do you think that was a right decision? I don’t.
Wouldn’t that open a slippery slope? Let’s recruit the parents and as long as the kid has plausible deniability he is gold...
As I understand, he has to sit one year because he transferred and he will eligible around this time next year.
I imagine what happens after the first day of classes which I believe is the 16th will be telling, if he is not cleared by then. If he continues to attend classes and maintain an acceptable GPA it probably means he intends to return next season. If he stays at KU but schoolwork lags then he is just staying so he can train for free and he is gone at the end of the semester.
Considering how he has apparently jeopardized his career for a car, I would not be surprised to see him load up the Charger and leave, get an agent, train and try to get drafted.

About Danged time!
Why would you say that? Graham WAS on the preseason list along with Malik Newman.
I did not take it that way, I only meant to indicate that the weave has been around for a long time and Coach Self is really not the originator.
I know that; it was just wishful thinking. I did not think KC should have given Gordon that type of contract at all; I would have preferred they tried to keep Zobrist instead.
I would trade Gordon and keep Hosmer and Moustakas.
I would not say Duke and UNC have poor football programs. Duke 5 bowls in the last 6 years. UNC 8 bowls in the last 10 years. I am not sure KU ever had a stretch like either of those two. WSU does not have a football program but its contract with Nike was very small. KSU with a decent football program gets a total of $12.6M for 6 years or a fraction of what KU gets, which under the new contract will be about $14M per year, I would be surprised if Wichita State get one tenth of that.
KU’s contract with Adidas is the 4th largest in college sports and only UCLA, Ohio State and Texas have bigger contracts. Not bad for a basketball school.
If it makes you feel better you can just see it as opinion.🤪
Wishful thinking. Nike has little interesting KU since it has the big programs like OU and Texas already in the fold and football drives the train. Without a decent football program, KU’s options are limited and no way Nike comes even close to what Adidas pays.
The Harlem Globe Trotters have been running the weave forever.
His job is not to create hype or drama but to analyze the strategy by both teams. We all know that in close games Udoka will be sent to the line since his FT shooting is not good, I even coined the expression poke-a-Doke which I am surprised has not been used more. He is not saying any thing new or blatantly false, just stating the obvious; I believe he would not be doing his job if he did not bring that up.
Like I said, I don’t particularly care for Fraschilla but stating that the logical strategy is to foul Udoka is what I would expect any decent analyst to say. If Bilas made that comment we would be saying how well he scouted KU and how knowledgeable he is.
I don’t care for Fraschilla but isn't his job to say stuff just like that?
I agree. Great game and I imagine pretty emotional for Texas. Saturday promises to be even better with WVU playing at Tech., TCU at a OU and KSU at KU; we could have a 4 way tie for first place. The Big 12 is really keeping it interesting unlike the Big 10 that analysts now call boring.
Texas got a big win against TCU; I bet it was an emotional game for them.
KU guards are shooting and not passing oriented. Unfortunately we don't have a gifted passer that can thread the needle and get the ball inside and does not help that our center does not get himself in a position to receive the ball. The closest we have are the alley oops to Vick.
I posted a link before from Jesse Newell that has side by side videos that illustrate exactly what I am saying. I am not the first or only one that sees it, look it up and you will see exactly what I am trying to tell you...or not.
Unfortunately and as much as cancer medical treatments have improved, I don't believe you ever get a complete cure. Much like they say about drugs, you don't get a divorce from the disease, only a temporary separation the length of which depend on how fortunate you are. My sister in law had breast cancer and the did the the radical mastectomy and even the bone marrow transplant treatment and she was cancer free for 6 years and then it came back and she was gone in a few months. I do have other friends that are still cancer free after many years but they all live with the thought it could come back. It is really a tragedy that we have not found permanent cures when it affect every segment of our society. The cynic in me sometime thinks that there is too much money involved in the treatments, money that would be gone if a cure is found.
Again, and like most big organizations, this time of the year is called dead time because not much happens and this is the time when key personnel take vacation precisely because is not busy and they need to use vacation or loose it. Every big organization, government or private, that I know operates pretty much the same way. I just checked my inbox and I have at least a dozen notification from firms I do work for or with indicating they are closed between Christmas and New Year's, some even longer.
The NCAA received the paperwork for Preston just before Christmas and I am sure they have to verify all the information through their own investigators; they cannot just rubber stamp what they get from KU, right?
Silvio finished classes just before Christmas and it is very likely that his grades and graduation paperwork were not ready until after Christmas so the NCAA did not get it until last week.
In short, the majority of the delay in Preston's case was with KU gathering the information, essentially since the start of the season and in both cases, the NCAA has not had the information that long. Had De Sousa come to KU next fall as planned, I am sure the paperwork would have been completed with time to spare. I understand that this is a semi-emergency situation for KU but it does not mean it is the same for the NCAA.
Had Preston and family not screwed up, as it appears they have, and Silvio not decided to chance plans at the last minute we are not even having this conversation.
I understand that the NCAA makes a convenient target but this is not always the case and to me, it does not appear to be the case now either. I guess we can just agree to disagree and soon enough we will find out what the real issues were.
In all fairness, the NCAA schedule is known and published well in advance and this is not the time of the year where they are typically expecting tons of applications so they probably schedule and staff accordingly.
Why don't we wait until we know the entire story before we blame the NCAA?
There is a really easy way to check it. Watch a replay of the game and you will see how often Doke is ready to receive the pass in a position to score and how often he is not. Same thing with rebounding, with his size he should be averaging 12-15 rpg but he is not because he does not know how to box out and position himself to get a rebound. BTW, the rebounding part is true for most KU players and this is why KU is being out rebounded by just about every team.
You don't have to believe me, just watch the game, I am sure is available on ESPN3.
Watch games from last year and see how Lucas got himself in position to receive the pass inside. Udoka does not know how to do this yet and this is why he does not get as many shots inside. Basketball 101.
Malik had a good outing but not an efficient one.
That is a tough break for any one. I hope things work out for him.
I am sure KU has Amazon Prime and gets 2nd day free delivery.😀
The rebounding is so effin’ frustrating. Rebounding is all about boxing out and getting in position and other than Garret , who seems to have a nose for it, nobody else seems to know how or care to do it; if Mason was playing, he would be the leading rebounder this year and would not even be close
Considering how long it has taken, it seems plausible. I posted before I believed that if he is not cleared by the first day of school (16th?) there is a good chance he loads up the Charger and leaves, only 11 games left after that.
I will go with Sviatoslav “SVI-Shhhhhhh” Mykhailiuk burning the nets from 3 land.
The Big 12 conference winner might not be the automatic qualifier but it will certainly go to to the NCAA.
Sling on a 1 minute delay, I can tell what will happen by looking at the ESPN box score.😡
How did we get so lucky and got Fran?
I give up. SMH.
The De Sousa documentation has been handed to the NCAA last week, what makes you think that they are not acting in a timely manner?
I want all the other contenders, WVU, OU, Tech. and TCU to lose a home to offset KU’s loss at home.
So you think that the NCAA should drop every other application and move KU to the front of the line?
Evaluating foreign transcripts is not as easy as you would think. I personally attended schools 3 different countries and continents and all transcripts and grading criteria were quite different. Even within a country, the school structure can change from year to year. In one particular cases the school structure that included 6 grades of primary and 6 years of secondary school changed to 6 years of primary, 2 years of intermediate and 4 year of middle school and grading changed from 0-7 to 0-5...talk about confusing. Here, we are used to a school structure and grading criteria that has not changed in a long time, unfortunately the rest of the world marches to many different and constantly changing drummers. Add to that the fact that transcripts are in different languages and alphabets and reliable translation is not always available and the origin and authenticity of many documents cannot always be validated. In many cases consulates, both American and foreign, will need to be contacted to get clarification.
Perhaps the above will give you an idea of how complicated evaluating a foreign transcript can be and why it cannot be done overnight. If De Sousa would have come to KU as scheduled next fall, I am sure the paperwork would have been completed with time to spare.
Really not hard to understand. As I understand, De Sousa’s classes ended the Thursday before Christmas so technically he did not officially graduate until after Christmas when the NCAA was closed so his records were not submitted until the first parts of this year and when you consider that some are from a different country, you can see why they would not be done in a few days. I believe that a resolution on Billy will come first.
In the hat, of course...
I thought that by now we were in...any second now...territory.
That was a nasty clothesline. Cleveland in disarray, worst +/- of LeBron’s career.

KSU is very tough this year. Mostly the same players as last year, but a year better. Had to travel last year to beat them. I think this team will be fortunate to go 1-1 this week. I think 0-2 is more likely.
I just don’t see a scenario where KU goes 0-2. Possible? Yes, probable? No.
Nothing personal but I am glad you are not KU’s coach. Vacated wins have lots of consequences and all of them are bad. Starting with a long lasting black eye for the program and the school, huge ammo for coaches recruiting against KU, ending the current longest NCAA attendance streak, ending KU’s Conference Title streak, letting UNC overtake KU in all time wins and most importantly, placing a black mark on Coach Self’s legacy. No self-respecting coach would ever knowingly consider such a move, least of all Coach Self, no way, no how, no ma’am.
As per kuathletics.com, KU is 11-0 this season and 396-14 under Coach Self in games when they have the lead with 5 minutes left in the game. I guess he really knows what he is doing.
You seem to be under the impression that the NCAA has been On Preston’s case for 8 weeks which is not correct. KU found out about it about that long ago and self reported and as a precaution sat Billy. KU then went on a fact finding mission and the information/findings were finally submitted to the NCAA just before Christmas and the NCAA was closed from before Christmas until after the First of this month so, in reality, the NCAA has had the information submitted by KU for a very short time.
Literally apples and oranges.
Either step in and take the shorter jumper or drive to the basket since he has the athleticism and size?
You are absolutely correct that coaches sometimes will stay away with prospects with glaring red flags. However, Preston did not have any flags of that type, the issue was with his schools changing/grades and once he got to Oak Hill Academy, a school with a good reputations, the concerns were greatly diminished and I would think every program with an available scholarship would have taken him.

I agree with you 100%. I have always stated that 10 is the perfect number for a conference, 9 football games and 18 basketball games playing every other team, once in football and home and away in basketball.
