KSU suspends.... • Feb 07, 2015 04:34 AM

@Crimsonorblue22
If memory serves a dentist office next door on Mass had been leasing Louise's the space in the 70's and decided to expand and terminated the lease.

I have no idea if the Louise's on Mass is the same local or has the same layout of a long bar and twenty bar stools..

Could you inquire?

Welcome to Larryville! • Feb 07, 2015 04:05 AM

Ousdahl???

KSU suspends.... • Feb 07, 2015 04:03 AM

I am told it is-but I don't know if it is in the same location.

I was driving down mass st. last weekend and was pretty sure I saw Louise's painted on a storefront. I didn't go back to check it out.

That guy was a genius. I have a couple of books of his work.

Absolutely.

BTW-Is Far Side related to the old comics?

@drgnslayr
About your added antler decoration.

Back in the old days of the original Louise's on Mass St. the narrow joint had one long bar and twenty bar stools. Standing room was two deep tops, and walking through was a slow process on a crowded night.

One of the stunts we came up with was to place a rubber over someone's shoulder as they passed without them noticing. We called it, "rubbering". After a while, we came up with new challenges. The biggest, was to double rubber (one each shoulder) a female total stranger.
I can't remember if anyone ever accomplished that feat but your fine artwork brought back some good memories.

Actually I appreciate your counsel. Not that I'm ahead of you-When I finally grew up and got some sense of what others have done for this country I've always had a thirst to learn this stuff.

My father and a family genealogist did all the heavy lifting. Dad even went to a Marauder's reunion to research. As a result of those two I'm in a position to keep passing it along to our descendants.

Unfortunately I never met him. It is a sad story that I won't go into but I do know he suffered from PTSD after the war and did not return to see my father.

I've read one book on Merrill's Marauders and just started another called Spearhead. The mortality rate was something like 80%.

I have a email from someone at marauder.org that gives some details about the men in that unit and how much they suffered and accomplished. I also have his medals including Purple Heart, Bronze Stars and a presidential citation given to the unit.

In my office I have laminated posters with pictures of medals and info on the Marauders (and other relatives who served elsewhere). I made it with my children for school assignments on Veterans days.

Nice breasts but face is just above very nice -I would give her an 8 tops.
This from a guy who lived in LA three times, and knows the difference between a Texas (or Kansas 10) and a LA 10. granted an LA 10 most often has been under the knife.

And to quote one of my favorites: "I'm no slouch myself."

"Don't sell yourself short Judge, you're a terrific slouch."

Live in Texas-and have thick skin so no worries. I must admit the Baylor Campus is nice.
I don't know anything about Waco as a town. As a former west coast resident I sure could use a "In and Out Burger" fix.

Here's something I got a kick of. Back in the day that franchise gave out bumper stickers.

Kids would edit it to read "In and Out urge".

If I remember Oubre's father was open to TAD for his son, Obviously the NBA is all about potential but Kelly has been up and down. Not that I don't love him, in fact I hope he stays around. The same for Cliff, Even more so. I just don't see how Cliff is anyway near ready for the NBA.
He is no T-Rob----yet.

Well thought out. The older I get the more I sandbag.

Bobby Knight made a statement years ago that stuck with me.

2 normally still has to go through # 1. (Or a team that beat them).

Still-# 1 has an easier schedule than # 2.

@jayballer54
Off the cuff my reaction is these guys are trying to schmooz the homers in the listening audience.

I would think an announcer who knows the college game wouldn't make a statement like that unless he had other motives like getting in good graces with a school/league.

Or he just hates blue blood programs.

How's this season going to end? • Feb 03, 2015 07:47 PM

I commented earlier that we could not put two good halves together. We've been much better in recent games. I just hope that trend continues. It would mean a #2 seed which should land us in Omaha, the closest venue available.

The second weekend in March doesn't really offer any friendly options. I hope we travel well and support the team-I truly believe it helps us.

UGLY WIN BUT A BIG ROAD WIN. • Jan 29, 2015 02:39 PM

It was ugly for sure. In the 2nd half I turned the DVR on and changed the channel. I checked the score once. Reading the game write up on ESPN I decided to delete the game. The comments here tell me I did the right thing. I so enjoyed the UT game and was pumped. Now I am down again.

Just happy it worked out.

"Self" (and team) Assessment • Jan 27, 2015 07:07 PM

I was very happy to be at the UT game on Saturday, and was expecting a loss. So I was relaxed as I watched. I told my host KU has a hard time playing two good halves. Lucky for me I got to see them put two together.

As you stated they are young. I expect more speed-bumps along the way. I believe we can defend our home court-but I expect some of those to be battles. If I could script it, KU jumps out to a 20 point lead in the first half and then just trade baskets the second. Obviously that didn't happen that way with OU and my anxiety level ramped up that game.

Now that we have Graham contributing I'm a bit more optimistic. When Oubre was off, others stepped up.

We still have a weakness against bigs. Texas stuffed our guys a number of times-and by the way we also clanged a few dunks off the rim-why the heck are we doing that so much?

It turns out I will be in Lawrence/KC this weekend-but most likely will be watching from a bar-hopefully with folks wearing blue-not purple. Part of me wants to go but $$$.

I think we are the team to beat for the Big12 title. All wins at home and a few on the road and we are set as others have posted. That should get us a #2 seed. So in March-I see this team going to sweet sixteen,,,maybe elite 8.

IF and I mean IF, they keep playing like they did Saturday and do it consistently-the future gets brighter.

Congrats to Coach K for 1k • Jan 26, 2015 05:44 PM

Yep, credit where credit is due. HOF stuff.

I was at the game with seats pretty close. I thought Jamari was hurt more than once diving for the ball, and not just this sequence-which I agree is tops for back to back to back effort. And by the way, Self jumped up and ran over to him on the play where he hit or nearly hit the scorers table. He took some really big hits at times-I am telling you he is covered in bruises today.
Great win @Texas. So fun to be there for it.

@globaljaybird
I,heard it was "landscaping".
No malice

@HawkInMizery
I live in Houston but am driving over with a UT grad. There is Joint two blocks due west of "the drum" Frank Erwin Center where I heard Jayhawks gather. Pretty sure "Hawk in Texas" lives in Austin as well.

The Selden Factor • Jan 21, 2015 05:11 PM

@drgnslayr
I think you are right on with Wayne. Needs to pull-up more offense. Like Bobby Knight said years ago-nobody values or practices the 10 foot shot anymore. I do see Perry shoot it from the baseline but Wayne should be pulling up in the paint.

Just something I noticed • Jan 21, 2015 04:25 AM

@truehawk93
Agreed. I get really pissed when a KU player goes into the air without good options,

If you leave your feet with the ball with someone in position to defend you -THEN you have a nice open shot with a nice pass/dish/lob option.

We are getting better as of late but this and TO's are my biggest pet peeves.

Still hate to see it happen when it goes down to the line.

tuff loss BUT • Jan 19, 2015 03:47 AM

@jayballer54

Agreed-KSU isn't going to stay on top for long.

Also, like that KU fought back to have a chance-just hate stupid mistakes.

How tough is it to run back on D and stop layups? Even AFTER a made basket. (Yes- I know I shouted AFTER with all caps.)

Fun for all here tonight. RCJH

KU vs ISU - Chat Here • Jan 18, 2015 04:29 AM

Knew we were likely to lose 3 big 12 games on the road this year.

I think we beat ourselves with stupid mistakes-haven't reviewed the stats but my gut tells me pathetic transition defense and then zero perimeter defense. Also zero FT's in a HALF.???
Self pointed it out to the ref late in the first half-me thinks ISU got some extra help to add to stupid young player mistakes-and Selden charge in the end---you can't pull up??? You are the new bad Tyshawn.
