@nuleafjhawk
They need an invisible force field to keep to sculpture bucket empty. Nearby there could be a peach basket 10' high with active shooting gallery. One shot chance to score with an original basketball including laces. Winners get a free peach.
I certainly hope it is all nonsense and I can dismiss it. But there are so many wacky things going on in this country I guess the constant headlines has me jumpy.
thanks for settling me down.

This is wrong on SO many levels.
-
Big 12 is already lopsided with too many Texas schools.
-
Who the h*ll are you? We invite our own, not the other way around.
-
Texas Govt. has enough to do with out silly cr*p like this.
-
O of H needs to spend time/money eliminating slum/crime neighborhood.
-
This commuter school just doesn't cut it.
-
Lowers the quality of the B12.
I live in Houston. I have zero desire to drive or be on that campus/eyesore. The fact that it would be easier to see KU games here-zero interest on my part. I am happy to drive to Austin and watch KU vs UT, and may even consider Baylor games in the future.
@Crimsonorblue22
Happy to help. My recall seems to great for worthless stuff that took place decades ago. But I can't tell you what I did last week.
@Crimsonorblue22
Great find. Should we take bets where the shiny part will be when people rub it for good luck? My money is on the basketball.

Hi Jaybate, just came across this, but if must admit I am tired and need sleep before I try to digest this post.

Dude. Not something I wanted to see.

Okay, I am okay with a current calf shot which I think stands the test of time, and I repeat I quit working out 20 years ago due to joint pain.
-but no way will I gross anyone else with anything else on this body from present day.

What a great find. Approx should find a spot on the home page for a permanent link.
@DCHawker
Thanks for schooling me-I don't follow the NBA but naturally I hope guys like TRob and BMAC who really have needs have a long healthy and successful run.
I sure hope that means good things for him.
@justanotherfan
I like your thinking. I certainly think they belong in Omaha. Living in Houston I would take the family the 2nd weekend-but if they don't start playing more consistent I doubt they make it here.
My daughter and I were watching the game-she yelled "He SO traveled."
@brooksmd said:
Looks like Kansas is gonna have to quit hoping others help them out and take care of things on their own for #11.
True that. Every team in a position to help us can't win when it helps aka. It's like they've got an agreement to make sure KU doesn't claim # 11 -even if it means another big12 loss no matter the schools post season opportunity.
Can someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE educate these students who flash # 1 with their finger how idiotic they look just because they have a televised game.
I've expressed disappointment in lost opportunities with many this season- Perry had a miss at the end but most coaches will always say the problem is poor team play puts an individual in that position at the end of a game. Catching an over the head pass in motion and shooting immediately is tough for many-but most of us have seen studs pound down a dunk in that position-/something Perry has screwed up countless times. I love Perry but DAMN if just would dunk the darn ball?
@DCHawker
Many here didn't see the greats play-I certainly didn't see anyone pre 70s so we are I am in The dark. And the stats have changed as in games played, bus rides vs train.or plane..
, training is night and day better, etc, etc. etc.
Yeehaw. Thanks for reminder Brooks.
@Crimsonorblue22
Well it was volunteer coaching community league and they were just starting middle school.
Luckily I didn't have girls with attitudes and girl vs girl issues. I am aware that can be a problem. I ran a tight ship-if a girl started a side conversation when I was talking to the group she got to run laps.
My daughter is disciplined enough to ignore that stuff when she is on the playing field/court.
Now I will say it is VERY obvious to me as a spectator of girl's soccer that favoritism exists in high school to the point of passing a ball nowhere/out of bounds or backwards instead of to a player in the open. If I were the coach in that situation they would be yanked-chewed out and told to play as a TEAM or sit. And I'd be handing out some extra hard work at practice for said individual I would SO enjoy teaching that lesson to two girls on our team. But I digress.
@Paloma
Welcome and great story. I'd love to hear about 2008.
This is a repeat for some-so scroll down if it looks familiar. My dad grew up in KCMO and was always a big Mizzou fan. We ended up moving to OP in my youth and I ended up going to KU.
After I went to KU I got him interested in KU and he became a huge fan. I moved to LA around 1989 and he would give me updates as KU info was hard to come by. At some point he had season tickets and he hooked me up for the KU-Duke Game at the Pond in Anaheim in 2003. We talked KU basketball more and more as time went on. By 2008 I was living in Texas and flew him down for the final 4. I have a picture in my office of us in the stands and behind us the team is celebrating the NCAA championship on the floor. What a weekend. Dad's health went down from there including Cancer (twice). In 2013 KU hooked me up with advance tickets to Late Night at the fog and I flew up (neither of us had ever been). By then he was in a wheel chair-lucky because we were at the handicap entrance and didn't have to deal with the rush to the doors disaster. Anyway we had a marvelous time at late night-it was our last outing-dad didn't make to Christmas. What great memories! RCJH.
Several mentioned Lucas and I have to say he really stepped it up in the Baylor game. I was very happy that he had a breakout game like that. And he had some good minutes for us against WV as well. Hopefully he can continue to get those minutes and make the best of them.
@drgnslayr
I agree with you 100% about players under the rim. That's the worst spot on the floor. I only coached middle school girls but I was always telling them pit a hip on your man, get low, amd use the elbow to maintain block out. In high school and AAU play my daughter is still effective doing this and gets assignments against girls much taller because her big team mates are ineffective getting or maintaining position in the paint on offense or defense.
My observation about men and women AAU is different. The girls can do anything the boys can do EXCEPT elevate. Dribbling skills are excellent and they can shoot from all over the court.
The men are chucking 3's and dunking. Not much of an offense per say.
Wow-it didn't take me long to zero in on this. 3 minutes after your post-made my day.
I totally forgot Snacks was out. Some coaching on the side-an extra rebound here and there-yet another factor in a one point loss.
@wrwlumpy that should be on auto-looks to me like a human was manning the buzzer-home cookin
Knew that wasn't good and they ignored the buzzer. Lots of things pissed me off tonight. They got away with stuff and we played like idiots who could not grab a rebound.
Part of the time we dribbled INTO traps. Good lord my daughter learned NOT to do that in JR high. WTH. I lost count how many time we dribbled into a trap or picked the ball up as the second defender came up. I can't remember ONE time we split the defenders.
Yeah-I am in rant mode. Another game that was ours to win or we give it away-and we gave it away.
@Lulufulu
I've lived in LA, read Several Wooden books, and my kids met him at a bBall camp. I've also talked to him on a radio program (called in).
I strongly believe Wooden was 100% clean. That doesn't mean things didn't happen behind his back.
Although our record last year did not reflect improvement in the win and loss column-we were playing better. I hope we continue to improve meaning more wins this year. I really think we win four games minimum this year. This specific post was football related.
@Crimsonorblue22 well I admitted I was under the influence when I went on that rant. Unfortunately most programs don't get support.
Even back in the 70's when KU men were dominating Track & Swimming the only support came from some parents here or there.
So I imagine 95% of women's sports is still the same-playing in empty venues. We do have a beautiful campus. Maybe the winters are too harsh? Whatever the magic bullet is we don't have it right now.
Okay- I have had a few cocktails so here I go:
I was at KU when was in great shape in KU sports: 70's
We went to final 4 in bBall. Big 8 champs too-I won't list.
Two bowl games in Football-and won one of them for sure.
Track AND swimming OWNED the conference.
Title 9 clobbered the men's small program so why the hell can't some of the women's step up???
The girls track team was PHENOMENAL the last two years. NATIONAL CHAMPS-BIG 12 titles. But how long that took??? Title 9 was FORTY years ago. It is WONDERFUL SUCCESS- but 40 years? and our women bBall team are the worst in the big 12???
IMO we should be in the top half of the conference on a regular basis.
She's had some tourney success but the last two years-not cutting it at all. I don't pay attention-so I don't know about injuries-recruiting, etc.
I don't know how many good options are out there either. If memory serves she is getting A LOT of money. If so SZ is at fault.
@wrwlumpy is that a REAL PHOTO.?
I was on a biz trip there in the winter about 10 years back and only remember the elevated rail and the region just looked depressed as heck.
I hope there are better things to see for their sake. At least that photo to start this thread looks pretty.
Nice win today-I had the jitters for a while-not so much early even though they got out in front. It was the second half that made me nervous.. Nice that we. Got control of the game so it didn't go to the wire. I hate it when we let teams hang around -especially in AFH.
Welcome Gunman.
Looking forward to your contributions.
Thanks 22.
Powerful Jedi is Bill Self...POWERFUL JEDI.
@brooksmd
whoa there. This white man could- when I hit 35 those days were over.
@GonzoMan15
Great read-thanks for sharing.
I guess I'm not that naΓ―ve. I actually got a few of those.
That's a great read. "Toughness"
One of the best compliments I ever got was from my high school coach who wrote in my year book. "Looking back to your sophomore year, thought you'd never make it. But tough, just tough." The next sentence was "Leave the femme de taille alone and you'll do well." LOL
I am SO DARN LUCKY my kids had a soccer game AND a concert tonight. I had to DVR the game. By the time the concert was over and I got my first update we had a nice 15 point lead in the second half and relaxed. As I watched the DVR we started great and then BLEW it again. I went back and double checked-yes it was the KU - TT score.
Then we lost the lead late in the first half-rechecked ESPN AGAIN.
YES-KU had a good lead late in the game. I was able to relax other than have my BP go through the roof-But same problem.
Build a lead-let them back with sloppy play and TO's.
TO's are my biggest pet peave-most are lazy play or carelessness. At this level and playing at KU-maybe it is AAU ball that's the problem.
My anxiety level goes up when I watch close games. I'd much rather watch a game where KU jumps out to a 15 point lead, build it to twenty and keep that spread if not build on it. Both teams seem to relax and the game flows. Too often we let teams hang around-which takes more effort on our part to put the game away.. I don't need to sit on pins and needles.
I'd rather relax and watch a blowout- and the bench gets playing time including the walk-ons the last minute.
I understand others might not see that as a good game. At my age I'd rather be relaxed and see the hawks dominate.
Yes I know it is early, but I just saw the rankings and the loss to OSU didn't hurt us. We are still # 8- so a 2 seed-the lowest. Hopefully we finish strong and move further up. I DO NOT want to face UK before the final four-of course I don't see us in the FF if we keep playing one half up, one half down.
Wonderful work Lumpy.
Rest in Peace Coach Smith.
He was a giant.
Normally I am a Jamari fan but he played like sh*t most the game.
TURNOVER city.
I know what you mean. And I really get upset when they play so crappy in stretches.
The refs swallow the whistle on Ellis lay-up and get Mason for a touch foul on the other end. Pissed me off.
Still we gave that game away. I am sorry we gave OSU such a celebration-but that's their whole season I guess.
