BAD BALL is back! • Jan 24, 2022 10:17 PM

@drgnslayr I didn't see a mixed bag exactly. I saw a team get buried by a team that couldn't miss, and then the most amazing thing happened. It's like the entire team woke up, and began to fly all over the court. This was like a new team- they hit a gear we have never seen with this group. They played tough, they played with grit. The rebounding was amazing. Och took over the game, but all of them played at a level we haven't seen this year. This brutal conference schedule is shaping them, molding them into something special. Now, can we bottle that up, and use that toughness from here on out? Tonight will be a great indicator, because we play one of the toughest teams in the B12 tonight.

Bump...had to get thread to 667 posts.

This team is learning how to win. They looked tough in the 2nd half. Och was on a level I had never seen before. He took over the game- he wasn't playing. I've been waiting so long to see that determination and moxie from him. The whole team was literally flying all over the court. They wanted to get this win for Coach Self, and found a way.

Bill Self Sr. • Jan 23, 2022 05:26 PM

@jayballer67 Great call on the K-State game, buddy. You had it pegged- down to the wire.

@BShark We need him next year. ''We just gave it to Isiaih Mosley, that's pretty much handled all our shooting concerns,'' Missouri State coach Dana Ford said. ''He did a fantastic job getting to his sweet spots and playing off two feet. Our guys did a good job getting it to him. They knew he had a hot hand and instead of trying to do other things, we just kind of rode the way with him.''

Octagon of Room Game Thread • Jan 22, 2022 11:52 PM

That has to be one of the strangest games I've ever seen. It reminds me when we were down to WVU by 9 with 2 minutes to go, and we came back and won a few years back. You literally stop and go...how'd that happen? That's why you can't give up on this team.

Octagon of Room Game Thread • Jan 22, 2022 10:52 PM

hilarious...

Octagon of Room Game Thread • Jan 22, 2022 10:52 PM

UT starts the game out pummeling Okie St 11-0. Then they woke up, and are now behind 16-13.

@wissox LOL. The 'Tucky fan base has a deep paranoia about turning into Indiana U on the basketball court, so I try to throw that out as much as possible on another KU site. Hence...Kendiana...

Some Post OU Musings • Jan 20, 2022 07:28 PM

@wissox You mean ...Kendiana?

Non-KU Games • Jan 20, 2022 12:50 PM

@wissox LSU gets athletes because their crooked coach makes them "strong ass offers"...

Some Post OU Musings • Jan 19, 2022 10:19 PM

@Kcmatt7 Substitutions seem to trigger slumps for us. I wish he had spread the time around more in non conference games, so the subs wouldn't look so shell shocked when they finally get time. No way JCL should've sat the second half, no matter how bad he looked first half. We need him to be that spark off the bench that can be a source of instant offense.

Another thing that causes collapses is our mental approach. We seem to let up once we get up in a game. Mentally soft. We need a big old boot that stomps teams in the throat, and demoralizes them. If we're up 10, that's not good enough...let's make it 20. And for gosh sakes, quit being so damn polite. Now, I'm not calling for a chair swinging Silvio, but I'd sure like to see some Mason, Graham, Josh Jackson type mentality. Some Dotson tough ( look at the way he destroyed the cream puff named Quinten). Some Doke tough. Come on guys, let those balls drop!

Non-KU Games • Jan 19, 2022 10:45 AM

@wissox Did he learn that from Devonte???

Some Post OU Musings • Jan 19, 2022 10:41 AM

Christian Braun hit a game winning shot. The "invisible man in conference" stepped up. That's front page news for me. My memory banks are telling me that this is his first game winner ever, although I could be wrong. That's the big news- the beta is becoming an alpha...hubba, hubba.

BOOMER Game Thread • Jan 19, 2022 02:27 AM

A little off topic, but did you notice the younger Tanner brother bears a striking resemblance to Napoleon Dynamite? I kept waiting for him to bust a move...

BOOMER Game Thread • Jan 19, 2022 02:15 AM

For the record....KU 2 Tanner Groves 0.

BOOMER Game Thread • Jan 19, 2022 02:14 AM

@jessejayhawk Wow, my first was 1972 in the NCAA tournament- KU vs. Villanova.

BOOMER Game Thread • Jan 19, 2022 02:11 AM

@jayballer67 He had 3 shots where the ball was in the rim, and it just bounced out. He lacks the quickness to get around people, and his small frame makes him a target to be posted by bigger guards. He is fine as a distributor, but as a main focal point of the offense, he certainly isn't ready and might not ever be ready.

BOOMER Game Thread • Jan 19, 2022 02:06 AM

Dejuan was overexposed in this game. Got posted up, made numerous errors trying to drive the ball, and his shot just would not fall. Took 10 shots. I know OU was laying off of him, but he has to do better, or play less.

BOOMER Game Thread • Jan 19, 2022 02:01 AM

@BeddieKU23 The best one of all was after he crapped the bed over this incident, he comes out and says he "saved the season"....lol. You can't make this stuff up...

Post WV game thoughts • Jan 17, 2022 11:53 PM

@BeddieKU23 I love your post. In reference to Remy, a supposed "insider" started a rumor about Remy leaving. This person also proclaimed a few months ago we were going to the B10, so he doesn't let facts get in the way of a good story. I think this episode will galvanize Remy, galvanize the team, and I expect a great effort tomorrow night.
