Rewatching the UK game • Feb 01, 2022 11:42 AM

Saw this quote on another board:
"It’s also worth mentioning KU finished the game shooting 11 of 25 on layups. That percentage (44 percent) was worse than Kentucky’s overall field goal percentage of 51."

Self provides injury updates • Feb 01, 2022 10:37 AM

@BeddieKU23 Dave played the USC game on a broken foot, and had surgery last off season. Remy isn't close to being 100%.

Iowa St game • Jan 31, 2022 07:03 PM

I think we win. Let's spank the Cloneheads.

Talent Wins Games • Jan 31, 2022 06:54 PM

@BeddieKU23 I don't know if you caught the Milt meltdown, where he basically called on Coach to kill himself. They actually had quite a big pushback from that one for once. He said that right after Bill's father had died, so many folks, including myself, were outraged.

Talent Wins Games • Jan 31, 2022 06:45 PM

@BeddieKU23 I do visit, and they are on tilt. But it's always on tilt...it doesn't take a loss to send them over the edge.

Chiefs playoffs thread • Jan 31, 2022 11:57 AM

I grew up watching the Chiefs. Started when Hank Stram was coach... Dawson, Otis Taylor, etc. I watched when we ran the Wing T. I watched years of losing. As bad as this loss is, the Chiefs will be just fine. Next year the Chiefs will be favored to win it all again, and probably will. I'm down here in Houston, and I take my autistic son to several Texans games every year. Talk about a s*** show. So, it definitely can always be worse, folks.

Talent Wins Games • Jan 30, 2022 01:02 PM

My theory is he doesn't care about the B12/SEC challenge. Last year, we lose at Tennessee 80-61. This year we lose 80-62. Jaybate used to say that Coach would amp up his teams in certain situations. He certainly didn't have them amped yesterday. Our schedule is we play at Cloneland against a ranked Clone squad, followed up with a huge home game against the defending national champions, followed by a road tilt against a ranked UT team. The fact he gave the team two days off during the week leads me to believe he is trying to save his powder for the next 3. I think he knows how limited we really are, and knows we're on real shaky ground. BSHARK is right- we're not going to get better until we see some new faces next year.

Talent Wins Games • Jan 30, 2022 02:31 AM

@approxinfinity I went back and watched the post press conference, and there is context. He was saying it's important to not dwell on the loss. Yes, it sucks, but we live to play another day.

Talent Wins Games • Jan 30, 2022 02:22 AM

@kuballin10 I don't hate the coach. I don't think I could outcoach him, and I don't think I'm smarter than him. As bad as we looked today, it would've been much worse if one of us were trying to coach the team.

Talent Wins Games • Jan 30, 2022 02:02 AM

Bill Self said KU is going to forget about this one.

"I'm not going to dwell on this one and make it out to be bigger than what it is." #kubball

Talent Wins Games • Jan 30, 2022 02:00 AM

Coach doesn't seem to worry about playing high level games in non conference or the tournament. Seems he's more focused on trying to win the conference more than anything else.

the parody account has arrived...lol.

Big 12 /Sec Challenge • Jan 29, 2022 08:53 PM

I'm counting OU's loss as a loss for the SEC, too.

Big 12 /Sec Challenge • Jan 29, 2022 05:56 PM

TCU looks really good. I think not having the purple court to play on helps them as well.

Ochai Agbaji • Jan 29, 2022 05:52 PM

@BShark That Baylor game was a Doke revelation. He was so great in that game.

Ochai Agbaji • Jan 29, 2022 04:53 PM

Men aren't cute. We're ugly. Now about Och: I have to say I don't think I have ever seen a player, other than maybe Joel, improve their play as much as Ochai. When he first came off the red shirt, he just lit it up. Then teams adjusted, and he became invisible. Then he goes two years of inconsistent, somewhat timid play. Heck, there were fans this summer that were hoping he would "stay in the draft". When he started pouring in points at the first of the year, I completely expected him to cool off, and follow his pattern from the past two years. Man, was I wrong. The guy can flat shoot lights out, and that drive for a layup in the closing seconds against Tech was a drive we have never seen before this year. It was simply tremendous the way he exploded and took it right to the rim, even though he was being mugged by the Tech player the whole way. That's what convinced me he really is the best player in college basketball. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't wind up as a lottery pick.

@jayballer67 I remember drifting down to the seats near the floor in a game against Tucky many years ago during the Ted years. Back then there were always lots of empty seats.

@jayballer67 I'm going to tell you this - I haven't been this excited about a game all year. This is what it's all about- this feels like an Elite 8 game.

Ok, the betting line opened with KU -5. MGM and DraftKings have moved their lines to -5.5, while another sportsbook has it KU -4.5. I expect a decent win...I'll say 82-76.

Charlie Moore hits a game winner! From 500 feet, it seems. Bank shot. I always knew he'd come around- it's only taken him 5 years to improve!

It all started here:

OK, so we know who is next on Saturday • Jan 26, 2022 01:21 AM

Let's have Big Dave set a screen on the first play, and Wheeler is bound to run into him. The over/under on Wheeler turnovers is 8. For me, I think it's just another game for us- make it close, and then find a way to pull out the win. It's what we do.

Signing Day • Jan 25, 2022 08:48 PM

@BeddieKU23 That is amazing.

BAD BALL is back! • Jan 25, 2022 06:24 PM

@DCHawker My conspiracy theory with Kenpom might come into play here. I've maintained he has twisted his rankings to fit the "must be in the Top 25" narrative in past, and would do so again if needed. I'm specifically speaking of UCONN's last title.

This is real progress. I keep saying we're going to make it to a bowl game in 2 years, and i think I may be selling them short.

Payback Tech Game Thread • Jan 25, 2022 02:42 PM

We now have 6 Quad 1 victories, second only to Baylor. We made last night's game way too close with our substitution patterns, imo. Nice to see KJ got some time when 44 had some difficult moments. If I'm Bill, I'm making my 5 ppg point guard shoot 10,000 shots so teams won't lay off him like last night. Of course, it's real easy for me in the peanut gallery to second guess the best coach in America.

EMPEROR OF BASKETBALL • Jan 25, 2022 12:46 PM

@BShark Dook was 15-13 last year, as I recall. Tucky was 9-16. We don't have years like that. Whoever we get once Bill calls it quits will be a step down.

Payback Tech Game Thread • Jan 25, 2022 10:58 AM

@Zabudda In a real bro sort of way...lol.

@wissox Did he get credit for that tech runout as an assist?

Payback Tech Game Thread • Jan 25, 2022 03:36 AM

@Kcmatt7 To me, he is the key to the whole season. I don't think we've seen his best by a longshot.
