@wrwlumpy I think his lineups are way off. No way would they start KJ over Doke. The writer seems to think that Vick will be in every and any starting lineup, which I'm not sure will happen. Does dotson start out as a starter? Not sure about that, either. One thing I do know- we won't be going to a small ball lineup unless we have no other choice.

His arms are so long, particularly his forearms, that his shooting motion appears to be herky-jerky. It's like the saying about what it takes to get to Carnegie Hall...practice, practice, practice. Shooting is a skill that can be improved, so shooting 24% will motivate him to get better. I will say he is my favorite OAD by far.

@jayballer73 He looks like a skinnier version of Collison with more range. I don't know if he is as tenacious on the boards as nick, but there seem to be alot of similarities. I noticed in his mixtapes that he has really good handles for a guy that tall, and I saw several long outlet passes Hurt threw that made me think of Collision.

@drgnslayr I am engaging in wishful thinking. The most annoying fan in all of college basketball happens to be a UK Mildcat fan down to the tattoo on his ass ( I don't actually know if he has a tattoo on his ass, but if his ass looked anything like his face, it might be an improvement). And the thought of tormenting him for a year ...well, as much as I try to resist such lowbrow pursuits, and the stark pettiness of mocking somebody for an entire year ...well, I'm not sure that any Mildcat hatin' KU fan could get away from that. It's going to be like a 2nd piece of cherry cheesecake.
As far as I am concerned, Jaybate is a treasure. He might be right- he might be wrong. But he is always entertaining with his style, and his panache. You guys need to move the eyeballs back a bit and see the big picture here - you have one of the greatest fans of KU Basketball in the history of the sport, who happens to write with a flair, zeal, and sometimes slightly poetic license to keep us amused, and thinking.

I have no doubt that every player that signs with Dook and UK are being taken care of handsomely. I remember when Dook couldn't recruit a decent big man to save their life for years, and then it all changed practically overnite. Money is changing hands, but I'll bet we won't ever hear about it. We are Adidas... and we are on the wrong team with the NCAA. We are marked to go after. If we were a Nike school, all those little problems go away, because the rules only apply to Adidas schools.
@KirkIsMyHinrich I'm with you on Charlie getting more time. I don't think they'll be able to keep him off the court. The feedback from practice this summer has been that no one can keep in front of Charlie because of his quickness. I also wouldn't think it was a stretch to believe him and Vick lead our team in 3 pointers made, although Grimes could also have something to say about that. The confidence level Charlie exudes is going to go a long way with a young team, imo. My theory is they will be adding so many new components to the team, it will give CM the time on the court to establish himself. I think it will take Dotson time to find his voice as a leader, although he obviously has lots of talent. By the end of the year, Dot should find more and more minutes, but I think for most of the year, it's going to be the Charlie show.

@JayHawkFanToo We normally play guys that go to the NBA, summer league or not. Diallo not starting was the only time I can remember Coach Self leaving it up to the other starters to choose who they wanted to start. They wanted Lucas, and the rest is history how we recruited a Top 10 forward, and hardly played him. I would love to hear a first hand account on how that all went down. Good stuff, guys. It's nice to see some good analysis. My take is we have a decided advantage in many key areas that will allow us to whip Tucky on their home floor. Our guards are better than their guards. Grimes is the best on both teams, and Vick, along with a 5 star Dotson, and an incredibly underrated Charlie moore, and our guards match up with anyone, anywhere. And I haven't even mentioned Marcus Garrett, and KJ Lawson. This might be the most talent diverse perimeter team we've had since the 2008 bunch. We have the athletic talent to smother them on the perimeter. And I think people will be shocked to see how good Charlie is going to be. That dude is just flat fearless. Our bigs are downright scary. Bringing Travis in might look like a winning play, but it won't work when Dedric covers him all over the floor. And what in the world are they going to do about Doke? We've got better guards, better bigs, better coaching...this will be a nice win in Rump.
@Crimsonorblue22 Tony never played more than 17 mpg in any game I can remember. I don't know if that was just the Spurs, or whether he couldn't hold up. He is way past his prime.
Anybody remember when KC ran the old wing t for part of a year? It worked very well for about 3 games.

The worst team in conference was Miss, who was 6-6.So, every team on their side of the conference went to a bowl game except Ark. Their East division games were against a 9-4 USC team, and a Mizzourah team that went to a bowl. Murderer's row.
@kjayhawks I would venture there are a pretty large number of coaches in Texas that agree with him, although he sounded like a jerk when he said it. I'll give him this: he competed in the toughest conference in football. That's simply a murderer's row of conference games. To take the Hogs to 3 straight bowl games playing the likes of Bammer, Auburn, LSU, A & M, and Miss St every year is pretty amazing. And the job he did at Wisky was incredible. He isn't Petrino, but he doesn't have the character issues, either.
Bielema. Easy pick. He would get KU to a bowl game, and we'd have our once in 20 years run of good teams. Then he'll go somewhere else, and we'll start again. If KU hires him, maybe him and Klingsbury can slug it out. Bielema would be perfect, imo. He has recruited Texas, and his midwest contacts from back in the day at Wisky would play a lot better than trying to convince midwesterners to go to Bugtussle. I mean, at this point, are there any other Rose Bowl coaches available to risk career suicide by taking on the biggest challenge since football was invented? I personally feel he is a goomer, so the interviews would be quite a drag, but if he can resurrect the program, I'd be willing to pay the price.
@approxinfinity He had more boards than Mo Wagner, even though he played less time. I noticed Newman played 12 minutes, and had 3 points. Wayne led the Grizzlies with 20 points, and Josh had another off shooting night, going 3 for 12. Maybe Josh is like Sampson- maybe he should grow his hair back, and his shooting will improve...Frank had a mild night...I hope he is 100% healthy...

@jayballer73 Anything can happen in the tournament. If we get a wave of injuries, it could certainly change things. But this year we have the bench to withstand it.
@JayHawkFanToo Maybe he remembers last year's NCAA tournament, and is basing his opinion on a team that had the easiest path to the Final Four, and still couldn't get it done. They open the tourney against 12th seeded Davidson, and barely win by 5. The 4th seed in Tucky's bracket was AZ, who laid down and died against a very mediocre Buffalo team, who Tucky beat in the 2nd round. Onto the Sweet 16, where instead of playing Overall number 1 seed UVA, they now face off against lowly Silo Tech, Liberace, and a hobbled Dean Wade, and manage to lose. If they had won, they would've faced Loyola. It just doesn't get any easier than that. Now, I'm sure if you go back and look at pre-season last year, Tucky was Top 5 as well. They're always the best before the season starts, so with pre-conference games against Dook and UNC, and the resurgent SEC, his prediction may be proven right. I've learned you can never go wrong underestimating the Squid.
@BShark We have a much better coach. The Squid has future NBA stars every year, and he's managed to win 1 national championship in 8 years. This year will be the first year in the last 8 years where i feel we won't be at a huge talent disadvantage to Tucky. Which is why I feel we will beat them at Rupp. They had 4 players drafted last month, two of which were lottery picks. And we beat them with two NBA 2nd round picks. Do we have a realistic chance of going undefeated? Probably not. I think we'll beat Nova, Tenn, Tucky, and Sparty, though. Can't see us going undefeated in the B12- it's too much of a grind to go 18-0. I figure we 16-2 in conference, and we cakewalk a game in the B12 tournament. I DO think we go 6-0 in the big tournament, which is what we care about the most.
@Hawk8086 No doubt he scorched Landen. But, also remember the next year we played him, and held him to 12 points with Doke in the lineup. And this year, we have a load of big bodies coming in to help.
