@BShark I want that to be true.

@BShark BTW, Frank Martin takes a huge hit from Evans being arrested, imo. He brought Evans with him from K-State to SC. Evans was instrumental in bringing in Thornwell and Dozier. Even if no funny business was going on, it sure puts a different light on SC's Final Four run last year. I have always liked Frank, but if he thinks he has to have an Evans on his staff, maybe I am rating Frank way too high. Maybe Frank knew Evans so well, he encouraged him to go to Okie St. Maybe Frank wanted some distance. I dunno, but I won't look at Frank Martin the same way. And that is unfortunate. And I noticed that Brad Underwood made an announcement, of course, of his "shock" that Evans was arrested, even though Underwood worked side by side with Evans for years.

@BShark Oh man...if this guy can figure it out...oh man...

Jaybate This Is Your Day • Sep 27, 2017 10:24 PM

@Kcmatt7 The fact they set up a recruiting visit for Langford ( if he is half the player Keith was, I want him ) speaks volumes, in my books.

Jaybate This Is Your Day • Sep 27, 2017 10:21 PM

@mayjay lololol. how about bringing in Pitino's son? make it an "all in the family" job.

Jaybate This Is Your Day • Sep 27, 2017 10:10 PM

Ok, how about this one? Louie-ville turns around, and hires Little Pitino ...wouldn't that be hilarious???? I don't think that would ever happen, but wouldn't that be funny as hell?

Jaybate This Is Your Day • Sep 27, 2017 08:49 PM

@BShark All those people that were slamming Bill for not recruiting well.....OMG. They meet with KU, find out there's no money coming from us, and they sign with the money train ( AZ ).

Jaybate This Is Your Day • Sep 27, 2017 08:48 PM

@Kcmatt7 Could I borrow your post?

Jaybate This Is Your Day • Sep 27, 2017 08:47 PM

@BShark Didn't they say that Quinerly got 20k a week or so ago when he committed to AZ?

Jaybate This Is Your Day • Sep 27, 2017 08:06 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Cliff drove around in a brand new car at KU. Yeah, he knew nothing about the loan ( wink wink nudge ).

Jaybate This Is Your Day • Sep 27, 2017 07:49 PM

@Statmachine If our program was "dirty", then how did we lose Ayton in 1 weekend? After being the clear front runner for 2 years? I already eviscerated an Indiana fan who decided to post "Seeing that Kansas may be involved now..."I asked for proof, and his proof was we're an Adidas school. Of course, when I pointed out that IU was an Adidas school as well, he back pedaled in a big way. You can't miss as many recruits as we've missed, if we were "cheating".

Jaybate This Is Your Day • Sep 27, 2017 06:47 PM

DanR said:

If Cliff Alexander had been involved, his mom wouldn't have had to get a loan.

That's a real knee slapper. Thanks for the laugh.

Jaybate This Is Your Day • Sep 27, 2017 06:26 PM

@BShark I still don't buy that Cliff's mom, on her own, got a loan. I think Cliff was behind it all. The important issue was did Coach Self immediately suspend Cliff when the news broke. I'm of the opinion that this recruitment fiasco vindicates Coach Self. How many players have we lost to AZ over the past 5 or so years?

The Tucson newspaper is laying the wood to Stubby:

http://tucson.com/sports/greghansen/greg-hansen-corruption-bribery-fraud-and-conspiracy-could-be-arizona/article_fae23f0a-0af2-5b46-8917-689494623511.html ↗

How many of Stubby's players are going to be suspended over this? AZ cancelled their Media Day scheduled for tomorrow. They are preseason number 1 or 2 in practically every poll.

ROMEO LANGFORD • Sep 26, 2017 11:07 PM

@BShark I don't hate Doyel - that requires too much work. I just think he is an attention seeking pinhead with a typewriter.

ROMEO LANGFORD • Sep 26, 2017 10:50 PM

@BShark Always remember this: if it is from Gregg Doyel, it is guaranteed to be wrong 90% of the time.

@BShark Mo Kan Elite.

Jaybate This Is Your Day • Sep 26, 2017 06:10 PM

@jaybate-1.0 You called it. The big shoe money, the buying off players, the embargo ... the whole enchilada. Your scoffers probably won't be heard from, I'm guessing.

Jaybate This Is Your Day • Sep 26, 2017 05:57 PM

@BeddieKU23 Rick Pitino gets fired over this, period.

Jim Gatto, director of global sports marketing at Adidas, was among those arrested. He's accused of helping funnel approximately $100,000 to the family of an "All-American high school basketball player" to secure the prospect's commitment to a school Adidas sponsors. According to documents, the prospect committed in June. The only "All-American high school basketball player" who committed to a school Adidas sponsors in June is Brian Bowen. He's now enrolled at Louisville.

Louisville coach Rick Pitino was asked about Bowen's commitment in June.
"We got lucky on this one," Pitino said. "I had an AAU director call me and say, 'Would you be interested in a basketball player?' I said ... 'Yeah, I'd be really interested.' But [Bowen and his people] had to come in unofficially, pay for their hotels, pay for their meals. So we spent zero dollars recruiting a five-star athlete who I loved when I saw him play. In my 40-some-odd years of coaching, this is the luckiest I've been."

Welcome David McCormack • Sep 25, 2017 12:11 AM

@Statmachine He's listed as a 5 star on 24/7:

http://247sports.com/Season/2018-Basketball/RecruitRankings?InstitutionGroup=HighSchool ↗

Anyway, he is the type of player Bill should have on his team every year: big, burly, aggressive player. He'll knock some noggins. Give me a guy like this any day of the week over a Carlton Bragg. Let the guards shoot the 3 pointers - welcome back, muscle.

Welcome David McCormack • Sep 24, 2017 10:30 PM

He will be great. This is quite an impressive front line for 2018. Now, let's get some point guards to feed these guys.

@BShark Preston might have the highest ceiling on the whole team. If we could get that guy to become a rebounding fiend, the Doke/Preston front line could be quite formidable.

@mayjay It worked like a charm. Thank you, once again.

@mayjay Thank you. I'll try it.

Why does the bold button not work?

@BShark He is flipping the Billy Preston switch:

**Self said one of the Jayhawk newcomers — Billy Preston — stood out during week one Boot Camp exercises.

“Billy Preston has been probably our best one so far … of everybody (on the entire team),” Self said. “He’s in great shape. He’s trying really hard. I hope he can continue that.”

Preston is KU’s 6-foot-10, 240-pound McDonald’s All-American out of Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va.

“He’s been a warrior, stud,” Self said of Preston. “He does everything hard. He’s not scared of it. He’s embracing it where some of the other guys were a little nervous.

“They are doing fine though,” Self added of all the players. They are doing pretty well. We had a rough day yesterday (Friday).”

Self also praised Preston while speaking as a guest on KU’s halftime show.

“Billy needs to play like a lottery pick, to be real candid with you, because there’s no question from a pure talent standpoint Billy Preston is the best player in our gym. But he’s young. He doesn’t know what he’s doing yet,” Self said.

“His motor doesn’t always run. There are things he has to improve on. There’s some exciting things. You look at it and say, ‘Udoka (Azubuike, sophomore center), Billy and Mitch (Lightfoot, soph forward) … if things fall perfect we ought to have the best frontline in the league. You could also look at it and say if things don’t fall perfect, (it’d be) middle of the pack real easy. We need those three to play big for us.”**

@justanotherfan Save that post for the next time someone suggests a legacy hire-it is the perfect answer for them.

Contemplating The Cupcake Schedule • Sep 21, 2017 12:08 AM

@kjayhawks Indeed. Interesting theory.

Contemplating The Cupcake Schedule • Sep 20, 2017 10:53 PM

With that schedule, and the easier path in the B12, I would be surprised if we had anymore than 3 losses heading into the tournament.

Contemplating The Cupcake Schedule • Sep 20, 2017 12:11 PM

1 game against a ranked team in non-conference. 4 games against ranked teams in conference. The easiest schedule we've had in many years. Does that affect our seed in the tourney? Does playing in the B12 hurt our chances by driving down our SOS, and not preparing our team for the Dance? Is the B12 becoming like the Mo Valley, where you have to win the conference tourney to make sure you receive a bid? The last sentence is hyperbole... HOWEVER, the downward shift of B12 is alarming. This is a league that has had 3 Top 10 teams in the past, and as many as 6 or 7 teams ranked in the Top 25. Now we have 1 Top 10 team ( US ), and 2 other teams ranked in the Top 25 ( Baylor/WVU).

@justanotherfan i noticed a quickness in Svi in Italy I hadn't seen before. i think he has a break out senior season.

@jayballer54 Hurricane irma . 6 days with no power.

@mayjay Thank you. It's good to be back.

National Hurricane Center • Sep 16, 2017 03:26 PM

As of 11:11 am, the power finally came back on. Oh my gosh..

National Hurricane Center • Sep 14, 2017 07:40 PM

good news: they came and picked up the trash. that was fixing to be a BIg issue.

National Hurricane Center • Sep 14, 2017 01:31 PM

They are saying it will be Sunday night before the power comes on. No ice anywhere...no batteries....my whole neighborhood is like a ghost town. The extension cord from the neighbors is very intermittent, so it is a challenge. No hotel rooms available anywhere.

National Hurricane Center • Sep 13, 2017 01:14 AM

@mayjay Power is still out..a few quick moves to the ice chest earned the coveted extension cord from the neighbor's generator. So, ridiculously uncomfotable just went to slighly uncomfortable.

National Hurricane Center • Sep 10, 2017 11:06 PM

Ok, we finally got some rain. now they're saying it's a tropical storm, so they are walking back the storm of the century talk.

National Hurricane Center • Sep 10, 2017 04:42 PM

They are saying the winds are 130 mph, yet the highest anywhere is 63 mph, with 1 gust that went up to 94 mph in Key West. No WAY does this storm reach even half the numbers they are throwing around. I would be surprised if the winds in Tampa get over 50 mph. Rainy, nasty, lots of damage... but not nearly as bad as they are saying. I'm real glad I stayed put.

We are very lucky to have a coach like Bill Self. I remember having that feeling that Roy could never replace Larry after he took over the program, and I felt the same way when Bill replaced Roy. But they both did amazing, and we have been on a great streak for a long time.

Here's a good example of a humble man:

"The Lord has blessed me and my family beyond measure," Self said. " There is no way an average player from Oklahoma would be standing before you tonight if his handprint wasn't all over my life. I will never take this honor for granted, and I will be more humble now than ever to occupy an office on Naismith Drive."

National Hurricane Center • Sep 10, 2017 11:27 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I'm northwest of Tampa. We are smack dab in the middle of it.
