Was online a few days ago according to her profile.

Hope you both are doing okay.

@kjayhawks He certainly doesn't look near as athletic as Lonzo or act near as humble.

Here's the list of current "Prospects"

Have to love what the staff is doing. Recruiting Texas, Louisiana and St. Louis really, really hard. Those 3 are keys to landing any sort of a decent class.

LaMelo claims KU is recruiting him • Feb 18, 2019 08:41 PM

I'll believe it when I see news from a real recruiting source. I'd think only in desperate, desperate times would we consider adding him.

With the way the schedules fell, I think KSU probably has close to a 75% chance for at least a share of the title. It would take them absolutely laying an egg against someone besides us to lose two games and someone else winning out.

Of course, it's definitely possible... But I'm not betting on it this year. KSU wins at least a share of the title. Either with KU or ISU if either of them can win out.

KU moved up a few places in Kenpom to 15. Offense- #27, Defense #12.

No idea if they will make any movement in the NET when that comes out (they were 18th) coming into this week.

Still 18th.

I'm still waiting to judge how it all shakes out after seeding is done.

I miss Jaybate, I miss last year. • Feb 18, 2019 05:42 PM

For someone who at one point literally told me he couldn't care less about what I thought, it would seem odd that Jaybate would just disappear due to hurt feelings. He said what he wanted when he wanted to. Although, as egotistical as he clearly was, perhaps I'm wrong.

If that is what happened , I don't feel bad. He was combative in nature and brought those types of responses upon himself. Being a contrarian on the majority of topics (whether it was just to entertain himself or how he actually felt) is begging to be called out. But to top it off, he always had to have the last jab. Meaning "conversations" could drag out for days. His replies, were often novels, and written in ways that were either insulting or drawn out ways of working around the actual topic being discussed, leading to nothing but frustration from those voicing their opposition to his ideas. It was clear this style of debate was his way of trying to make others feel intellectually incapable, though most of what he wrote in reply would actually be nonsense once broken down.

So, no, I do not miss someone on the board who was constantly looking for a fight. Writing posts that were clearly begging for an opposing reply so that he could attempt to humiliate some other poster. It always felt like we were all toys to him. Pawns in some game. To me, aside from 4 or 5 entertaining posts a year, he was no more than a long-winded troll.

However, I do understand the family culture here between all of those that migrated over from the LJW site. JB was apart of your KU family and I can see why people would miss him. He had his moments of brilliance. He absolutely deserves to be in the Bucket's Hall of Fame. Perhaps, the very first inductee.

I hope he is happy and healthy and still hypothesizing new conspiracies on the daily.

Other Games Tonight • Feb 18, 2019 04:48 PM

Here is how I think it ends up, obviously subject to change:
1- Duke, Gonzaga, Virginia, Kentucky
2 - Michigan (DC), Tennessee (Louisville), Kansas (KC), UNC (Anaheim)

I think MSU drops 3 more games and pushes them back with two games left against Michigan. I think UNC loses 3 to 4 more games and pushes them behind us with two games against Duke.

This assumes we can close out the regular season and not lose our first game in the Conference Tournament.

There a lot to think about with Grimes. I thought he got overranked at the time. But it’s surprising how unathletic he’s been. I personally think he’s probably carrying 10 or more extra pounds that need to come off this summer.

I also just trust Self in this scenario. It took Self pressing buttons all the way through the conference tourney to get Newman going.

Sorry, I just don't see the Newman comp. Newman made poor decisions, looked sped up, trying to be the hero, but the athleticism never seemed in question. Grimes doesn't do too much, he does too little!

Newman was a ghost for 90% of the season is what I was getting at.

@Kcmatt7 Whats your guess on minutes breakdown next year btwn Ochai, Devon, Issac, Marcus and Q? Do we go 4 guard again?

I have absolutely no idea tbh. So many variables at this point.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread • Feb 17, 2019 01:51 AM

Q will be back. Any other decision is setting him up for failure. I don’t think his family is that dumb.

Agbaji/Next Year's Team • Feb 17, 2019 01:50 AM

Self will absolutely encourage him to go pro when the time is right for him and his family. He does with all of them, which is something I appreciate. With that being said, I’d think he will be lucky to be a 1st rounder this season because it’s hard to see him be able to contribute for an NBA team in a year. I think one more year makes sense.

@Kcmatt7 Maybe Adidas gave him a big check and we have to keep him quiet. Sadly that's one of few logical explanations but at this point he could be the most overrated recruit we have ever had, people forget he was #8 in the country. To that in perspective Dotson was #20 and Ochai was a whopping #145. This is why I laugh when people say NBA draft this season for him. He's maybe, maybe the 6th best player on this team.

Adidas gave Oubre one and Bill was harder on him.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread • Feb 16, 2019 11:59 PM

Bill must be seeing something out of Grimes. It’s unlike him to play a struggling freshman. It makes me think there is still hope for Grimes this season.

Bill Self is the Ric Flair of the Big 12 and to be the man, you've got to beat the man. The streak is still alive --- for now.

Other Games Tonight • Feb 16, 2019 08:57 PM

@Fightsongwriter I think, if this FBI thing ends up implicating Townsend, Bill would jump at the chance to get Danny. And I think it is a real possibility, however small the chances.

Our League Weekend games • Feb 16, 2019 06:36 PM

Ribs in the smoker, I'm on the couch the rest of the day. I just wish the KSU vs ISU game was on at a different time than ours. The TCU vs OU game isn't doing it for me.

Other Games Tonight • Feb 16, 2019 06:34 PM

Danny should be fired. I wish he'd come back, but I think it might be likely that we see him end up at a smaller school instead as a HC.

Garrett still hurt • Feb 15, 2019 11:51 PM

While we are thinking about the current team I had a thought.

I wonder where Doke would be sitting right now on the scoring list if he didn’t have all his injury issues...

I'm fairly confident we end up giving back the FF and all the money we earned from it. I could see us losing a few scholarships and potentially having recruiting restrictions on Townsend and Self for a year or two. That would make sense. It's all logical.

I would be infuriated with a postseason ban though. Punishing players who don't deserve to be punished is horseshit. The worst part, is the NCAA ties everything to the programs instead of the coaches. It ends up hitting the wrong people for the crimes committed. In fact, 99% of the time the NCAA punishes the wrong person with their penalties.

Fighting for the kid was the right thing to do, considering a lot of the reason he is getting screwed is because of us at least being somewhat complicit in this scheme (if not fully). I'm absolutely willing to take any punishment that we brought upon ourselves. I just don't want Bill to leave or get fired as a result.

And to be honest, the only thing the NCAA could do at this point that would piss me off is a post season ban.

I certainly wouldn't cooperate with any investigation at this point. Not after how they attacked Silvio to get back at Self and send a message.

Bright side is maybe we can poach a recruit or two

Bill pressing the right buttons again. The entire offense looked more aggressive last night without anyone deferring to our piss poor senior leader to do something. I'm still holding my breath that Grimes breaks out sometime in the next month. If he does, this team is still dangerous.

To steal a line from Bill Raftery:

"Get the puppies organized"

Self re-organized the puppies and wow did this team looks different last night.

The fact Bill is able to even field a team capable of making the tournament after losing what could be 4 of our 6 best players is absurd.

I also fully expected it, which is why I put $200 on the game last night... Bill is gonna Bill.

Agbaji/Next Year's Team • Feb 12, 2019 04:02 PM

I think we may have found a role for KJ last night. When I think of KJ, I think of two things. Slow. Fearless.

It makes him perfect for the 2nd half of games. Once everyone else's legs are tired, he seems to be able to actually play D and provide a spark on O. As far as fearless, you have to have guys not scared to shoot in order to close out games. He doesn't play scared and seems to never get shook. So, I'm absolute pro KJ from minutes 25-35 and see if he can help close out a game or provide a nice little spark.

League Race • Feb 12, 2019 03:16 PM

I put money on KSU tonight, but I'll be rooting against them. I just can't bet on a 14-10 team to pull anything out. UT is one bad half from throwing in the towel for the entire season.

Agbaji/Next Year's Team • Feb 12, 2019 01:46 PM

It might have been said, but KJ would leave because he will have graduated already. This is his 4th year in college. So unless he wants his masters, going and making money playing somewhere overseas seems like a good choice for him.

Hunt To Browns • Feb 11, 2019 10:42 PM

@AsadZ If you go read about it, he is supposed to be in counseling and for a lack of a better phrase, on a "treatment plan." What could be best for him is practicing. All of his incidents were in the offseason. Maybe football is where everything makes sense for him. As long as they have a plan and he is committed to being a better person, timing is semantics. I don't know that there is a good time to sign a guy with a bit of a violent streak.

I do understand what you're saying. I just think Dorsey strikes me as someone who is intelligent and very good at due diligence. He's always been willing to take chances on players with questionable pasts, providing he knows he has a plan for them and a strong lockerroom.. And typically, that strategy has worked out very well for him. Peters, Kelce, Hunt, and Hill are all guys that have panned out on the field. All have had an issue in the past, but never under his tenure.

So more about next year in general but Ryan posted on the phog that...

Dedric is gone

Silvio is gone unless there is a miracle where he gets to play next year in which case he would stay.

Doke's people will likely want him to start getting pro checks but his gut says Self finds a way to keep Doke for his SR year.

Grimes GONE.

Dotson and Agbaji staying.

KJ staying but says this one is just a guess, no info unlike the others.

Chuck likely gone.

Mitch and McCormack 100% staying, locked into the program.

I agree with all of this except Grimes and KJ. I think KJ is gone and Grimes is back.

Hunt To Browns • Feb 11, 2019 09:57 PM

I thought it made sense we cut him. I also think it makes sense that someone would sign a good football player that was never charged with a crime. Especially a franchise so desperate for wins.

As long as he truly is going through some sort of weekly counseling and trying to hone in the demons he's got, I do not have an issue giving someone a second chance. I feel that way about most things. We have developed this moral code that exists outside of the law where we assign someone a scarlet letter for doing certain things. Sometimes people just go down a weird path and need scared straight before they go back to being decent human beings.

Braun • Feb 11, 2019 09:38 PM

Whether we think he can play the 4 or not, I don't know that he has a choice next season... A very real possibility we end up with only 4 bigs on the roster and 2 of them are Mitch and KJ.

New 2019 Recruiting • Feb 11, 2019 04:26 PM

Still can't believe Edwards to Georgia was real. Still can't believe anyone would want to play for Tom Crean.
