@BeddieKU23 I like it a lot. Transparency is a good thing.
@BeddieKU23 I think we have the talent to do it. I'm just not sure we have the instincts. I'd love to see us get hyped tonight and get things clicking and then take that energy into Rupp on Saturday.
What worries me is that a team that turns the ball over and can't defend the post isn't able to dictate the games pace. We either need to figure out how to defend the post or be air tight with the ball. Otherwise we will get exposed, and I do not want to see another early round exit.
@JayHawkFanToo What major rankings? The Big 12 is the 2nd or 3rd best conference right now. ACC is hands down the best conference right now. Big East is arguably as good as the Big 12.
I didn't say we should be winning games by 20 routinely. But we should have won a game or two by 20 points.
@BeddieKU23 Turning the ball over too much. That's all I'm seeing. Everyone but DG is turning the ball over at too high of a rate. That combined with our undersized team scares me to death. I'm not worried about us in conference play. But I am worried about us that first weekend of the tournament. We let teams hang around that we shouldn't and will come back to haunt us at some point. We have yet to have a 20 point route of a team in conference play. And it isn't because the Big XII is so good and so competitive. A great team should win games by 20 that you don't expect to win by 20. Not win at home because of a traveling non-call game winner.
If we don't take another step where we can stomp on an opponents throat and finish them off we can kiss a final four or even elite eight goodbye. I have that horrible feeling an 8 or 9 seed could beat us on a bad night with the way we have been playing so far in conference.... This 3 game stretch will tell us a lot. Anything worse than 2-1 and I won't think this team has a final four in them.
Holy Crap! Did you guys see the LJW comment section? Makes me so glad we have this site... That other site is an embarrassment.
@BeddieKU23 Didn't they say Frank just had a little knee to knee contact is all?
@Blown If I were you, as early as you can. Grab some Salty Iguana nachos and hang out. Take turns walking around and seeing things to kill time.
I don't know how big your group is but you definitely want to give yourself plenty of time if you plan on sitting together.
@kjayhawks What has impressed me the most about him to this point, his 3pt stroke. He is shooting .348 as a Center. And his first step to the basket is so quick that teams just have to let him shoot that.
@Crimsonorblue22 Wow! Go JT. Can't believe how well he is playing. And for a really good team! Hope this is the start of a very long European career for him.
@Lulufulu Stealing that WVU game would be huge. But Holding serve at home against Baylor is a must.
Saw a story today. 76ers have #1 defense in the NBA in games Embiid has played. #25 in games Embiid doesn't play.
@jayballer54 That would be correct. Atlanta is favored.
@BShark Oh wow just read up about Brown. Crazy. Sounds like he grew up in a really rough area and while he left the hood the hood hasn't left him...
I'll bet that he does another year of prep school and tries to show he has his act together. A 7'1 talent, someone will be desperate enough to take him.
The funny thing I though about his recent arrest, I mean how dumb does someone have to be. Dude you are 7'1. You can't rob anyone where there is a camera. You are one of the most identifiable people on the planet.... Friggen dummy.
@BShark If it's only 2 I'm not interested... Although we will need a guy for some depth 2 years from now. At this point we would only have Lightfoot as a guarantee on the roster. I'd feel better about taking a grad transfer to fill a gap if we needed to find a stop gap.
@BeddieKU23 Would he be a 2 or 3 year guy?
@AsadZ Agreed. Sign him now before he puts up big numbers this year.
@jayballer54 guy is on another level right now. I'm not sure even Brady could do what Rogers has done on this winning streak. Best WR hurt. No running backs. Very very average defense. And he has just decided to put the team on his back and carry them. Love watching him play.
@BShark dropped passed and penalties killed at least 2 drives just when we had something going too.
Shot ourselves in the foot in offense too many times. Defense didn't really get any stops but did enough to keep us in the game. We never dictated the tempo though and that killed us.
@jayballer54 well got-damn you handsome devil you 😉
@jayballer54 she is asking who is in your picture?
@kjayhawks Oh jeeze.... Don't tell me you left the keys in it.
Anyways, great hire the more I read about him. Apparently was a solid recruiter at OK State. TCU didn't ask him to be a recruiter, so I'm curious what will come out of that. Beaty is a good enough recruiter that I'm not worried about it.
@DoubleClutch His hair is amazing. I literally thought when I looked him up that we just hired Matthew Mcconaughey' brother
@Crimsonorblue22 Thank goodness for JoJo. Pierce can finally retire now that there is another KU alum worthy of passing the torch to.
@BeddieKU23 If they bring home a couple of top 50 and a couple more top 100 and then another solid transfer then it'll still be a solid class.
Just hired and assistant from TCU to come be the Offensive Coordinator. Good move by Beaty, Not only was it needed, but it is a move that probably buys him an extra year. If he didn't hire an OC and then only won 1 Big XII game again this year than he would have been a goner.
@ralster Funny thing to me is that I would rather play the Cowboys than the Packers right now. Rogers is doing Rogers type things...
@BeddieKU23 He has to get drafted, right? I just can't fathom there being 60 better players in this draft class. Nobody can guard him. Looks like a right handed Isaiah Thomas to me. And now that he has added automatic range from 3 when he is wide-open, I'd have to think teams could do much much worse at their backup PG spot than Frank.
@drgnslayr That's where I'm at a loss.
My only thought is that Bill is having them switch because they are playing a lot of minutes. And taking hard screens through the whole season can take a toll as well. Switching keeps them healthier and fresher through the game and really the entire season. It just seems so unlike Bill...
@Crimsonorblue22 We are switching way too much! Drives me crazy. Not a normal Bill Self defense.
@Crimsonorblue22 Well I would like to have JJ out on the perimeter pressuring guards to force easy turnovers. He has the talent and length to take a guard completely out of the game. Can't say the same when he is at the 4.
@BeddieKU23 I think we need to switch Svi to the 4 spot and JJ to the 3. I'm surprised we haven't. Svi even rebounded pretty well last night.
The whole team is clearly injured. Frank with a shooters sleeve. He's hurt. Svi is dragging his left hand. Has a hang nail. Vick has had a leg injury to start the year which is why he wears spandex. He's just shot so well lately because he adjusted to his injury. Landen is hurt which is why he only has a 4" vertical. Bragg has sucked because he has scoliosis that came from lifting too many weights. Buke's injury is just fake because Bill doesn't play at least partially injured players and Buke was too durable of a guy so Bill made up this injury and won't play him or let him workout for 5 months so that way he can pull a muscle easier.
We have a lot going for us since the last time we played them. It is going to be a drastically different game.
1 difference right now than when we played them earlier is our CB2. Terrence Mitchell has been fantastic since he earned the starting gig. Instead of a turnstile that we had out there earlier we have some confidence and some consistency at that position. That ability to communicate and know where the safety and other DB's are going to be is a huge thing.
2 difference will be our pass rush. A rested Tamba and a healthy Houston should cause a lot more disruption. Not to mention that Houston shuts down two gaps in the run game and does a very solid job containing when he is in.
3 difference is that Hill is now integrated in the offense all the way. And Reid has a bye week to find a way to get him the ball in the open field. Hill changes the game. He has loosened up coverage on EVERYONE else. The problem for defenses and Tyreek now is that we have been lining him up in the backfield. They are too scared to put a linebacker on him so they have to use a safety or play a zone in order to cover him. Taking that safety away from either doubling Maclin or Kelce has opened those two guys up a lot.
Chiefs are going to win this game. I'm tired of waiting for this to happen. I want to see the Chiefs in a Superbowl in my lifetime. Andy Reid needs a Superbowl. Chiefs need to end the drought themselves. And I don't see a much better season than this one to make that happen.
@Crimsonorblue22 he's already out of it I believe
@drgnslayr I just like the constant challenge. He doesn't back down, even when he is wrong and knows he's wrong. He keeps coming at you. At first it was frustrating until I realized it was more of a game for him. And I need to make it a game to keep it fun. He wants to challenge you to see if you slip. He obviously likes to show off his vocabulary and quick whit as well. But for the most part, it is a game. He usually picks the harder side of the argument to make it a fair fight and some of our funniest terms have come from the battles. And I'm sure he likes to get a good chuckle out of how riled up he can get us.
Good basketball on tonight folks.
- 6pm Baylor at West Virginia
- 7 pm Duke at Florida State
- 7 pm Xavier at Villanova
- 6pm Kentucky at Vanderbilt
- 8pm KSU at TTU
@justanotherfan Oh exactly. I think Foster wasn't a problem guy until everyone around him was letting him down. Then he went off the rails. It has to be frustrating to be a 15 ppg guy and everyone around you can't get it done. You are carrying the team as far as you can and they still let you down.
I do like Weber's squad right now. I think that he is learning how to recruit to Manhattan. It is very different than to Illinois. The lifestyle is very different and so the type of kids you bring in need to be different. Find good players is important. Finding players that mesh personality-wise with each other and the coach are even more important though. And after all this kicking players off of the team, I think he finally has a group that like each other and play for each other.
With that being said, I hope he figures it out a little bit and KSU becomes an annual game we are look forward to. Much like the 2nd game of this season will be.
@JayHawkFanToo Oh yea forgot we posted about that!
I think it was a very wise decision for him. And for UK.
He very well could go pro in 4 months if he goes off at the combine and really just proves he can shoot the ball. Very similar to us being scared Newman will leave before next season. Except I think Diallo has a much better chance at that than Newman does. I honestly think Cal wanted to bring in a practice body. It would be good for the team. And if Diallo "fixes" his shot in 4 months Cal can use it as a recruiting tool.
Boy oh boy is this guy a college stud. 18.6 ppg for the #8 Ranked Creighton Jays.
Imagine what KSU could have been if Weber kept this guy in check. We are talking KSU as a top 15 possibly top 10 team with a guy that can score like Foster.
This is why Weber will never be able to get to that top 10 level again. 33% of the job is being able to properly manage ego's. Losing a 1st team all Big XII guard because he doesn't follow team rules and you guys can't get along is not something great coaches do.
The funny thing is that I really like Foster and the way he played against KU. I had respect for the type of gritty player he was on the court. I wish Bruce could have kept him... That would have made this year a lot more fun.
@drgnslayr easily one of the best Xs and Os guys.
He needs to talk to Snyder about how he finds the right recruits and gets them to a small town in the middle of Kansas.
@JayHawkFanToo What's interesting?
@jaybate-1.0 said:
It propels often sensible aliases into saying the darnedest things to keep their anti-injury narrative intact.
And thank you for the compliment!
@jaybate-1.0 I'm done with your nonsense.
"Allen Iverson began using a basketball sleeve during the 2000-01 season due to bursitis in his right elbow. Afterward, fans wore the sleeve as a fashion statement, and by 2008, the sleeves were the most popular non-apparel items sold by the league, according to an NBA Store spokesperson. Other players, including Ray Allen, Vince Carter, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, John Wall, Kyrie Irving, Dwyane Wade, Paul George, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James[2] have worn the sleeves as well.
Iverson continued wearing his basketball sleeve long after his elbow had healed, which led Steven Kotler of Psychology Today to suggest that the sleeve may act as a placebo to prevent future injuries. Basketball sleeves are also sometimes referred to as basketball shooting sleeves. Some players believe the mild compression they provide helps keep their shooting arm warm and improves circulation. Although some studies show improved circulation and reduced soreness, there has been no definitive study on the use of basketball sleeves."
"Medical necessity quickly turned into fashion accessory. “We used the stockinette to help Allen get through sore days,” Currier told me. “But as you know with Allen, once the other players started seeing him wearing it, they all followed his lead.” A few months after Iverson débuted the repurposed compression stockinette, a nascent sportswear company called Under Armour contacted Currier and asked if Iverson might try on a nylon sleeve they had made especially for him."
"Posed with the question as to whether he wears sleeves for fashion or health reasons, Brooklyn Nets forward Andrea Bargnani said “I think it’s in the middle.” He added that he originally began wearing the sleeve to reduce pain in his right arm. Bargnani now wears two leggings and one sleeve—on his left arm.
“Obviously, I don’t need it,” Bargnani said."

@BShark Yea I mean you are probably right that it is more the player recruiting KU than KU recruiting the player.
@BShark The more I watch the more it wouldn't be a horrible get. He has a decent stroke and is really long. He could be a force on defense in a couple of years.
@BShark Idk. Verbal commits website shows an offer... Usually is right.
Anyone hear anything on Andre Rafus? He just named us in his final 3 on his twitter a couple days ago. He has an offer. I just don't know if he has a conditional one or what.
@BShark Yea I don't know how him reclassifying factors into all of this. But UK is losing a ton. There will be minutes to be had for them next season. If Briscoe leaves (and I think he does) then they only have 3 perimeter players for next season. So a reach like this for next seasons class would seam to be a last resort move by Cal.
@JayHawkFanToo Diallo came out and said he plans to redshirt the rest of this season and then play next year.
He isn't draft ready. He would be a borderline 1st round pick and could fall to the 2nd in a deep draft class.
Diallo can't shoot. NBA wants to see him shoot before they just take him. Plus next year is a weaker class. He would do better to wait one more year and show he can shoot at least 30% from 3 at UK.
