THE CHIPS ARE FALLIN IN TEXAS • Nov 27, 2016 09:39 PM

@ralster pretty sure he was just leveraging that for a raise.

Saban wouldn't leave because he would have to open recruiting channels in Texas, where right now he controls parts of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida. And Texas just gets recruited so damn hard that UT is a lot tougher job than people think. Wouldn't be worth actually moving there.

Prediction Time • Nov 26, 2016 08:28 PM

@BShark We can be a 4-5 win team next season. If our O-Line and QB play is serviceable, who knows what could happen...

Prediction Time • Nov 26, 2016 08:04 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 Sure do. When you are losing badly.

Prediction Time • Nov 26, 2016 07:44 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 My point isn't really whether he has a good arm or not. My point is that, down 4 scores and a 3rd and 7, you throw the ball at least 7 yards. I don't care who is QB or if the guy throwing the ball has no arms. You have to at least attempt to get 7 yards.

You don't "manage" a game when you are down big. You have to try to win. If we throw 4 picks and lose 66-9, well what is the difference than if we lose 40-12? There is no more "managing" the game at this point. Chuck it all over and hope that good things happen.

Prediction Time • Nov 26, 2016 07:30 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 Arm looked pretty good right there....

Udunka Very Mucho • Nov 26, 2016 07:24 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I do love how much fun our guys seem to have. DG and Embiid have been so fun to follow.

Prediction Time • Nov 26, 2016 07:19 PM

Lol that possession was a joke. A "screen" to the RB. A bubble to the RB where the Oline doesn't have time to get out to block doesn't work.

Then the check down bubble to him again? Beaty should have ripped his ass for that. 3rd and 7 and we are down 4 scores, throw the ball for the first down. At this point, the worst has already happened. If you throw a pick you throw a pick. Try to win and score.

Prediction Time • Nov 26, 2016 07:12 PM

Ive been pretty disappointed in our return game all season. You'd think it would be a point of emphasis for us. A way to score and flip the field when you have such a poor offense... But special teams has not looked like a priority.

Prediction Time • Nov 26, 2016 07:09 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 I didn't even think about the two Louisville coaches in a row.

Herman definitely has talent to work with at least. As much fun as it has been watching UT suck it up lately, we need them to get back to being THE football program in Texas.

Udunka Very Mucho • Nov 26, 2016 07:06 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 what was Vick saying that had DG cracking up??

Prediction Time • Nov 26, 2016 07:00 PM

Not to mention his great run at Arkansas before his fiasco.

Prediction Time • Nov 26, 2016 06:58 PM

Thats what i'm saying. They have gone two non p5 coaches in a row... A little balsy. Petrino would have been my #1 choice. He had Western Kentucky in the top 25 before he went to Louisville and now has them set up to be a solid program.

Prediction Time • Nov 26, 2016 06:54 PM

You guys like the Herman hiring for UT? Personally, I'd think UT could find another guy from a P5 program, but apparently the boosters think they need to reopen the Houston recruiting area.

Prediction Time • Nov 26, 2016 06:50 PM

@kjayhawks along with the shovel, have we ran a tunnel screen all season? We need to make them pay for being so aggressive on the edges and blitzing linebackers

Prediction Time • Nov 26, 2016 06:48 PM

Also, an overloaded side with receivers might be able to draw 1v1 with Sims. Put 4 wide on the right and let Sims try and work the left all by himself.

Prediction Time • Nov 26, 2016 06:46 PM

Our O-Line has our playcalling so limited right now.

DTs aren't even rushing just getting hands up to take away the middle/drag routes. Can't block long enough to throw down the field so CBs are playing 8 yards off and just coming up because they know we can't throw a deep ball. Safeties are way up and just filing on the run. And after seeing Stanley throw the ball 60 yards, he has the arm to throw it down the field a bit. Adding a TE to chip and run to the flats would be a good adjustment at this point just to give us some extra time.

A trick play might help to loosen up the D. We need a big play to get a little momentum.

Jayhawk Post Fiasco • Nov 23, 2016 09:52 PM

@drgnslayr Just pisses me off so much. CBB is such a pure sport. Something you don't just become a fan of. It is something you are born a fan of. And I just wish the damn rule makers would realize that. Don't touch CBB. It is so great because of all of the different styles you can play. UVA plays lock down D. Wisconsin bores you to death. UNC runs you to death. WVU and Louisville put so much pressure on you, you'd think you were being questioned by the FBI. KSU loses. MSU plays football against you. Syracuse does their zone thang. Duke has that "we play white guys that everyone hates" thing. UConn wins championships with bad ball and an absolutely on fire upperclassmen PG. Nova has ran a tough 4 guard lineup many years under Wright. And typical KU (minus this year), we throw 2 NBA picks at you down low and throw lob after lob.

That is what makes CBB so great. It's about the identities that teams own. And I friggen love it.

Kenny Wooten • Nov 23, 2016 09:34 PM

@drgnslayr Loaded frontcourt next season. Maybe next year is the year Mitch can redshirt like he needs to. For obvious reasons, he can't this year. But, hopefully next years loaded front court allows us to do that with him. You can always pull a redshirt off in an emergency.

I also hope Carlton comes back. If he leaves he has no shot at a lottery. And if Bill has proven anything, 3+ year bigs at KU become lottery picks.

Jayhawk Post Fiasco • Nov 23, 2016 08:30 PM

Landen and Bragg will get better when the refs get tired of blowing their whistles.

I honestly don't understand the NCAA emphasis' every season that never lasts all the way through a season. It changes nothing and honestly ruins the game for the early part of the season. All it does is remind NBA fans why they don't like CBB. What makes basketball great is it's ability to be High Scoring and Fast paced. Those two things make it a great sport. The constant foul calling ruins the game.

Cowboys vs Roys boys • Nov 22, 2016 10:45 PM

@BeddieKU23 Personally, I think Evans is the real deal and of all the big 12 teams I've watched so far, OSU has impressed me the most.

ISU doesn't scare me to this point. I realize they are probably still the #2 team. But Morris just doesn't do it for me. He's good just seems like something is missing.

Baylor looks like Baylor. Never count out Drew to be able to throw 8 athletes at you and play that zone. I thought about being worried after the Oregon game, but now Oregon has shown a chink in it's Armor.

Texas got punched in the mouth last night. Almost lost their first game to a school for the blind. They don't have a PG. Really don't have anyone with size on their team. Allen made a mistake staying home. Could have been rotating in for a top 5 squad instead. Would have probably even gotten close to his 27 mpg he is getting right now too.

OU lost to UNI and barely beat lower half of the ACC Clemson. We knew they'd be down.

WVU will be WVU. Competing for top 3 in the league. Tough in Morgantown. A bunch of tough dudes playing football on a basketball court.

TCU we will find out more in the next 8 days. Play UNLV Friday and Washington on the 30th.

TTU plays Auburn tonight. Good test to see where they are.

KSU patty caked their schedule super hard. Won't know who they are until Conference play most likely. They could literally go into conference play undefeated. Toughest games are Boston College, SLU and WaShU.

OSU is putting up 100 ppg. Handled an injured UConn team. Evans is legit. Forte back gives them another scoring threat. They look like they could beat anyone though.

Long story short, we should win the league handily, as we all know. To me, OSU is the scariest team followed by ISU, Baylor and WVU. Texas is another year off at least. I personally think Shaka is going to be a very similar story to Charlie Strong...

Cowboys vs Roys boys • Nov 22, 2016 09:35 PM

@BeddieKU23 OSU completely controlled that game through from the opening tip. Up 14 at half and then both teams basically quit playig any defense. So, while it did finish at 8, OSU made sure to keep them at an arms length basically the entire game.

2017 Kansas Jayhawks football recruiting • Nov 22, 2016 05:34 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 I don't really expect any DBs we bring in this season to get any PT unless they go Mike Lee on everyone. We have like 13 returning DBs on the roster for next season.

To me, building up an O-Line is the most important thing for a team like us. If you control the line of scrimmage on the offensive side of the ball, you get to dictate the pace the entire game is played at. So in my eyes, we need to add 3-5 solid OL every single offseason. Then red shirt everyone of them and get them on a 5 year program. That way we have an experienced and strong O-Line. Same basically goes for D-Line too. If you can control the run and get pressure on the QB, you dictate the pace. You do absolutely need a good secondary, but I seem to think that comes much easier than building an Offensive and Defensive line. You are able to plug freshmen and sophomores in more because it doesn't require near the physicality that line play does.

Here is how I would break down the scholarships if it were up to me:

  • QB- 4
  • RB - 6
  • WR - 9
  • TE - 4
  • OL - 20
  • DT - 10
  • DE - 6
  • LB - 8
  • CB - 9
  • S - 6
  • K - 2
  • P - 1
GEORGIA BULLDOGS CHAT AWAY • Nov 22, 2016 04:32 PM

Ill take an easy 20 point win. Watching Georgia last night, they just really have no mismatch on us. And so our talent should dominate theirs.

I expect a big game from Bragg tonight.

2017 Kansas Jayhawks football recruiting • Nov 22, 2016 02:36 PM

Looks like a solid class so far. Really do need to add some 3-star OL to that group though.

@jaybate-1.0 I feeeeel like you are talking about a theory as in scientific terms. Like the theory of evolution. Which has proven to be true essentially.

I more mean for it to be synonymous with a hypothesis. Which I believe the term conspiracy theory more correlates with when people use it. A conspiracy theory is guess that their could be a conspiracy. I am by no means saying that I believe based on the facts that shoe co or big gaming are actually changing the game. I am guessing that they could be and that it wouldn't surprise me.

To go back to Manson, he was much different than the list you gave me. Manson was a serial killer, sure. But he was much more fascinating than that. His ability to control others and manipulate any situation to his advantage was what makes him so impressive. While he did kill some of his victims, his "family" were the ones that did 99% of his dirty work. His ability to convince this "family" to commit dozens if not hundreds of crime for him was, well, amazing. He convinced them that it was for the good of the "family." And that it was God's work. I think that an organization with the strength Nike has could easily "brain wash" a person or persons into doing anything to help the "family."

Those other guys were just loonies who basically acted alone. Manson was smart and calculated with everything he did. Sure he was loonie. But all he really ever wanted was to be the center of attention. He had major fault in his personality. That is why he was always on the outskirts. There he was a star. It was why he wanted to become a famous musician. So he could be the center of attention. Had he actually been successful in music, I'm not sure that he commits all of his murders. Probably some of them still, but the majority of them, I doubt.

@jaybate-1.0 Gangsters have bought entire police forces. Some of the largest companies ever have been complete shams.

I believe some of what you're saying is more than likely true.... Unfortunately.

Who doesn't think that Nike could pay refs under the table to prop up their teams and players?

Who doesn't think that a giant Betting company could corner a ref or two for the superbowl and offer them sums of money they could only dream of in an undisclosed off shore bank account?

Would it even be absurd to think that former Nike or big Betting employees have been "fired" and paid an unreasonable undisclosed settlement and then began a career in reffing?

I'm not normally a conspiracy theorist, but I do love reading about gangster's and guys like Charles Manson. People that evil and that smart are able to accomplish amazing things with money and blackmail. Who's to think that a major company with an evil genius at the helm couldn't accomplish something similar in the sports world?

@kjayhawks Saw the same thing. I could see a group of boosters pooling together the cash. But man would I be surprised.

I hope they do and Beaty announces that he is hired the next day. It would be the type of move that proves to me Beaty is the man for the job.

@kjayhawks Oh everything I've been looking at, people want him out. Bad. But boy oh boy is $9m a tough hit to take on a buyout.... As we know.

Although now after research, that seems likely that Kliff gets one more season. He basically as TTU athletics held hostage with his contract.

Kingsbury has a $9m buyout. TTU AD must be a special kind of dumb because they extended him to that outrageous contract after two mediocre seasons and named him the Patron Saint of TTU football essentially. Kingsbury's agent got him the hookup. A $3.7m salary and an insane buyout that all but guarantees him one more year unless a booster is willing to drop a big chunk of money to get rid of him.

@JayHawkFanToo who would hire him to be a HC at this point? He has a losing record and he got to recruit in the heart of Texas. He also never had a winning record in the conference. He has OC written all over him. We would have to pay him more than Beaty to come is the problem I see. He is a $1m OC more likely than not. But besides that, I think it is a perfect fit for everyone as long as Beaty could accept that he wouldn't be the highest paid coach for a season or two.

Bring in a guy that he is good friends, a better Offensive mind, a better QB coach and can probably open up Texas recruiting for us a little bit more.

All sounds like it makes too much sense to me. That's why it probably won't happen.

UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA - BIRMINGHAM BLAZERS • Nov 21, 2016 05:02 PM

I'd love to see us show off tonight. A nice 40 point win. Like 100-60. Shoot 45% from trey. 15 offensive boards. Force 20+ turnovers.

A game that really scares the rest of CBB.

But we probably will only do that for the last 10 minutes of the game and turn a 8 point lead into a 20-25 point win.

Univ. of TX protests • Nov 21, 2016 04:42 PM

@approxinfinity @Crimsonorblue22 Thanks for sticking up for us Millennials. We get a bad rap for what I feel like is no reason a lot of the time. Older generations see laziness, but I am lost as to what they are talking about. Our generation has had to work a lot harder to get a job than any other generation. You can't even earn a decent living anymore without doing extremely skilled labor or getting an education. An education that puts the average student $30k in debt to start out in the "real world" and that is just at a state school. And in order to only be in debt that much many of us have to have a job that pays our rent, utilities and food WHILE going to school. I worked nearly 35 hours most of my college career just to be able to afford my living expenses and have some walking around money.

If you look at the cost of school compared to the inflation of salaries, Tuition has risen 200% since 1990-1991 to today and salaries have only risen 63%.

If you do just since 1980, than tuition has gone up 521% and salaries have increased by 175%.

And then they wonder why there are a record number of people signed up for social programs... Imagine being a college dropout. 3 years into school you realize it's not for you or you have a kid or something in your life happens and you just can't finish. And all of a sudden you have $25k in loans. An insurmountable debt for someone without a degree.

And then you have to think about how many private school kids that happens to. Or how many kids go out of state and they have over $100k in debt. Or medical school students who's whole life has been dedicated to becoming a doctor and they have $200k+.

In today's world where getting a college education is so important AND so expensive, any mistake someone makes can literally cause them a lifetime of problems. It wasn't the same just 25 years ago. So yes, when you raise the qualifications to earn a decent living and add a very large expense at the same time, welfare and social programs will increase. I can only hope my generation is the first to quit being the ones to "pass the buck" on the debt and can lower the cost barrier to be able to enjoy a good life.

Univ. of TX protests • Nov 21, 2016 03:45 PM

@HawkInMizery I have a pit too and she is exactly the same. Sweetest thing ever.

@stoptheflop Texas absolutely gave us the win. But it was good for our defense to finally get some credit for actually being a well above average unit. Offense is still a mess, but I'll take it.

OK yes I know but/ recruiting • Nov 20, 2016 05:08 PM

@BeddieKU23 Yea going to be a crazy Spring I feel like. Way too much up in the air for everyone.

OK yes I know but/ recruiting • Nov 20, 2016 04:58 PM

@BeddieKU23 You are absolutely not crazy for thinking that. Here is what I am seeing for UK next season as far as guards.

  • PG - Green, Briscoe (?), SAG
  • SG - Diallo (All but assumed he will be there)
  • SF - ?

So your assumption that there is room for Trae is 100% accurate. Especially when ours could easily break down:

  • PG - Devonte (?), Garret
  • SG - Vick, Newman
  • SF - Svi (?)

It honestly doesn't look good. And if we don't land Duval or Young and Devonte bolts, we are going to be forced to hit the transfer market HARD. Or offer some sub-100 players. And that is just never ideal despite our recent success with two of those type of guys. I just can't understand how these elite PGs don't look at what Bill has done with Dee Brown, Deron Williams, Chalmers, Sherron, Frank, Devonte, and Tyshawn and wonder how good he could make them. I mean he has as good of a history with PGs as Cal or K do. Just kind of makes me scratch my head.

Prediction Time • Nov 20, 2016 12:25 AM

Can you imagine a UT football forum rn?

Prediction Time • Nov 20, 2016 12:22 AM

Called it! Oh man I feel good.

Prediction Time • Nov 20, 2016 12:21 AM

You all owe me a beer if he makes this. My prediction was :100:

Prediction Time • Nov 20, 2016 12:20 AM

kick it now. its just an extra point. like exactly an xp

Prediction Time • Nov 20, 2016 12:19 AM

Do not kick it unless we have to. Do not trust our kicker or holder or snapper

Prediction Time • Nov 19, 2016 11:58 PM

48 carries should literally be considered abuse.

Prediction Time • Nov 19, 2016 11:57 PM

Like did we not know that our playcall on 3rd down was a 5 yard hitch? How do you not have a play ready to go for after that?

Prediction Time • Nov 19, 2016 11:56 PM

WTF was Beaty doing? Waste of a TO there...

Prediction Time • Nov 19, 2016 11:40 PM

Beaty's got guys who read Buckets on the staff clearly...

Prediction Time • Nov 19, 2016 11:33 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Fair. I guess that makes his football hires that much worse...

Prediction Time • Nov 19, 2016 11:28 PM

@BShark How we haven't tried to poach a Kstate guy yet I'll never know...

Prediction Time • Nov 19, 2016 11:24 PM

@BShark Oh I don't want him fired quite yet. I want him to fill the roster and see if he can recruit a talented OC. If he can do that, he can coast for a bit. A head coaches job isn't to coach. It is to put talent around himself and organize it in a way that allow those coaches to coach the talent you put in front of them.

But I do agree the system is too simple. We need to implement a very intricate run game and nab ourselves a dual threat QB (could be Starks). There are so many different options you can do in college football that keeps the D off balance without ever even having to throw the ball.

This season we haven't ran:
- Inverted Veer
- Jet Sweep
- Midline Option
- Veer

We have almost no motion plays (notice how the reverse today we did and the defense picked up on it immediately because we never do it so it was a dead giveaway), we never put two backs in the backfield, our TE is ALWAYS on the line on the strong side, we don't run 2 TE sets, etc etc etc.

This is a middle school offense. We need to bring on a solid OC in the worst way.

Prediction Time • Nov 19, 2016 11:17 PM

@kjayhawks I honestly can't tell what we practice. We haven't added anything to our offensive game all season. It is literally same shit different day. It almost seems like they must practice against air and Beaty is sitting back there like "man I can't believe this doesn't work in the game. We can't get touched in practice."

Prediction Time • Nov 19, 2016 11:14 PM

Honestly, the more I watch, the more I can see Beaty not making it all the way through next season.

A team trying to claw themselves out of this hole can't afford mistakes. Our players have to be so disciplined it is absurd. I'm talking military school disciplined. We shouldn't fumble. We shouldn't have unsportsmanlike penalties. We shouldn't ever false start. We should do everything perfect.

That Quiv fumble is the perfect example of Beaty not having these guys playing disciplined football. We used to RIP guys for fumbling the ball when I coached. It is your fault if you fumbled. It isn't the defender who made a great play, because if you carry the football correctly then they never have the opportunity to make that play.

I'm tired of watching us do stupid things that are 100% in our control.
