@DanR if we get it under 10 quick I think they crumble

Octagon of Room Game Thread • Jan 22, 2022 09:45 PM

Just having one of those “other teams Super Bowl” days. Shit happens. UK and Duke get it too. KSU just hyped

Octagon of Room Game Thread • Jan 22, 2022 09:32 PM

Almost zero chance we can play any worse any other half the entire season

Octagon of Room Game Thread • Jan 22, 2022 09:22 PM

Lmao literally out of their minds rn

Octagon of Room Game Thread • Jan 22, 2022 09:16 PM

Under 3 by half - calling it now

Octagon of Room Game Thread • Jan 22, 2022 09:08 PM

@BShark even for just a minute. Let them cool off

Octagon of Room Game Thread • Jan 22, 2022 09:06 PM

How about we guard their best player a little?

Octagon of Room Game Thread • Jan 22, 2022 09:06 PM

Lmao this is honestly as bad as it could get

Octagon of Room Game Thread • Jan 22, 2022 07:53 PM

@BShark I just chalked that up to no practice time. But it’s fine, he needs to just get healthy for next season anyways

Octagon of Room Game Thread • Jan 22, 2022 07:51 PM

@BShark Bobby get hurt again?

Non-KU Games • Jan 22, 2022 07:46 PM

@BShark I am so glad we didn’t end up with him. Bill wouldn’t be putting up with this shit 😂

Non-KU Games • Jan 22, 2022 07:45 PM

2nd time I’ve watched him do this… run into a dude and then act like he just got punched in the face by Mike Tyson in his prime

Non-KU Games • Jan 22, 2022 07:44 PM

Sahvir Wheeler is such a p*ssy

Non-KU Games • Jan 22, 2022 07:42 PM

I hate it, but Calipari is going to thrive in the new transfer market world. OADs and fill experience gaps with top tier transfers.

Non-KU Games • Jan 22, 2022 07:36 PM

I’m going to the UK game next week so I’m only thinking positive thoughts

Never too early starting 5 for 2022-23 • Jan 22, 2022 05:14 PM

@BShark I am worried Bill goes away from the 4-1 next season. Despite his most recent best teams all playing 4-1. Of course he’ll probably make a FF run going back to the hi-low just to flip us all the bird lol

BAD BALL is back! • Jan 21, 2022 07:57 PM

Games in the 60s are just going to happen. Happened to the '08 team 6 times on their road to the NC. Going 4-2 in those games (3 games in a row at one point were in the 60s, I'm sure people were saying the offense was broken then too).

I really think this team's best chance is playing the pace/tempo they have been. Sure I'd love to see the defense cranked up a notch, but I feel like the reason to play "bad ball" is because you lack the talent to win other ways. We do not have a lack of talent. In fact I would argue that Bill Self could finish top half of the league with the bench and not just because he's a good coach. Yesufu, Bobby, JCL, KJ, Zach, and Mitch could put up a fight.

Our strength is transition offense, and we should be wanting to push the tempo. Quite honestly, it feels as if everyone else in the league is playing bad ball. But I do not believe we should be. We have the thoroughbreds this year, you have to let them run. I think the last hump we have to get over is just avoiding "the lull."

This team scores at an above average pace 75-80% of the game. I think they may have had a double digit lead in every single game this season if my memory serves me right. But for whatever godforsaken reason, once we get that lead, we go on the coldest stretch of basketball I've ever seen. This phenomenon will subside. "The lull" will go away and you'll start to see KU beat some really good teams by 25 points. You've already seen Jalen bounce back from whatever the hell he had going on. Dave is showing signs of life. Next we just need Remy to find a little bit of rhythm and that is when you'll see this team kick the sh*t out of others.

I am definitely not on board with a plan to slow this team down and play any sort of style that slows down the offense, mostly because I think it hasn't even hit its stride yet. I still think this team is really really good. FF run type of good. And I don't think a rock fight slow tempo style is what is going to get them there.

Never too early starting 5 for 2022-23 • Jan 21, 2022 03:59 PM

Just how I'm looking at the scholarship count:

  1. Harris
  2. Braun
  3. Wilson
  4. Bobby
  5. Clemence
  6. KJ
  7. Udeh
  8. Zuby
  9. Rice
  10. Dick
  11. Yesufu
  12. Cuffe

  13. NBA Risk: Braun, Wilson

  14. Transfer Risk: Cuffe, Wilson/KJ/Clemence
  15. Surprise return: Dave

My best guess as to a preliminary breakdown of minutes:

  • PG: Harris 32 - Bobby - 8
  • SG: Braun 32 - Yes - 8
  • SF: Dick 25 - Wilson - 15
  • PF: Wilson - 15, Rice - 25
  • C: Udeh - 15, KJ - 15, Clemence - 10

Zuby is just so raw that I think he ends up being the odd man out his freshman year. Rice isn't coming here to sit the bench. Still dominoes to fall I think. If Bill takes these 12 into next season I'll be ecstatic and surprised. Would be a testament to his ability to retain talent.

@BeddieKU23 I have to think Dave with a Master's degree will be gone. But yea I've felt with him and Jalen both that at this point maybe they'll be back

Never too early starting 5 for 2022-23 • Jan 20, 2022 02:10 PM

@BShark This is how I see it too. I'm hoping Udeh is able to play a significant role by the end of the season. 7'2 wingspan would really be a game changer in the post.

Some Post OU Musings • Jan 19, 2022 08:21 PM

I really thought it just looked like an off-night, on the road, after a long weekend with students back on campus, against a pretty well-coached basketball team.

And I think that the B12 is just playing ugly basketball this year. That is who is coaching in the conference right now. The strategy seems to be "make it as ugly as possible" almost as if it were a gorilla warfare strategy against a superior opponent. KSU will be the exact same on Saturday. They are a top 25 defense (OU was 26) and that is just what it is.

Just look at the kenpom rankings for defense in this conference. It is insane.

  • TTU #2
  • ISU #4
  • OSU #7
  • Baylor #11
  • UT #18
  • WVU #21
  • KSU #23
  • OU #26
  • TCU #29
  • KU #33

KU has the worst rated defense in the conference at #33. These are just friggin rock fights, and the will be all season. This really is a year where anyone can beat anyone in the B12. Who would think that TTU could beat both Baylor in Waco and KU in Lubbock in 2 of their first 6 games, but still be 4-2 and tied for 2nd place in the conference?

While I realize basketball is a game of runs, if we would just quit having 8 minute stretches where we piss away double digit leads I'm pretty sure we are all singing a different tune about how tough or soft or wired this team is. And I still think by the end of the year those go away and this team beats the crap out of some really good basketball teams.

+- was weird tonight.

Didn’t tell the story of the game really

@Marco said in BOOMER Game Thread:

How many points and assists did Remy have?

Can we be fair and give him another game. Let him shake off the rust.

I’m at a point too where I think we MIGHT be better without him on the court, but I’d like to give him a fair shot to prove that to be correct

BOOMER Game Thread • Jan 19, 2022 01:54 AM

Jalen went 16-8

BOOMER Game Thread • Jan 19, 2022 01:54 AM

@BeddieKU23 in 26 minutes

BOOMER Game Thread • Jan 19, 2022 01:04 AM

Our guys are acting like they partied all weekend with students back on campus

BOOMER Game Thread • Jan 19, 2022 01:04 AM
