I anticipate him playing a lot of minutes at the 5 and that is partially why I'm not worried. Even when we had a historically awful bench, there were a good handful of games Jalen didn't even play 25 minutes last season. So it isn't like Bill played him just to play him.
Ultimately if his work ethic from Frosh to Soph was any indication I think we can expect another leap forward and another matchup nightmare added to the starting rotation. To me it looks like we have 3 (4 I guess with Dave) that could go for 30 any given night. Which is pretty dang exciting.
Thank you Kirk Cousins and Jalen Hurts. Who would have thought we could be in 1st place the way we've played. A dumb fumble away from a 1.5 game lead and a real shot at the #1 seed still...
I do think we basically have to finish the season 6-0 to get the #2 seed, but the schedule is favorable and we are playing our best football. I wouldn't put it past Andy or Pat.
Dave with a slow start, but I'm not sure it is totally unexpected.
NPOchY is going to be a force. LOVE how Bill has used him so far this season. Still getting him the open 3s. But now he's getting him 1v1 situations and posting him up a few times a game. Really using that athleticism to get easy baskets.

I think more than Juan vs. Pettiford, the more important trade off to watch is JCL vs. Braun minutes.
I think we've seen 2 games and don't know who will give us the higher ceiling yet. Bobby has looked great, but Juan has been just fine. I think it'll be interesting to see how the rotation works out when Jalen is back.
I think Juan offers a style of unselfish pure PG play that this team needs when you are playing at least 3 of Ochai, Remy, Wilson and Dave at the same time. Bobby has only been in for stretches. Is he able to play that way consistently if given extended minutes?

@drgnslayr I think j the strategy vs Zags would be to play Jalen at the 5 and force Timme on the perimeter. That’s what Baylor did.
Make him such a defensive liability that he’s barely playable
I expected more from a Beard team defensively. Maybe Zags are that good. Or maybe UT is a bit worse than we thought to start. Really expected this game to be better.

@BShark Bingham could have had 20+ imo. They could have gone to him almost every play I thought. Didn't have a single guy who could guard that height and athleticism combo.
@benshawks08 It really felt like MSU didn't use their size advantage nearly enough. They could have killed us inside and for the most part didn't. Not sure if that is our guards pressuring passes, Bill Self coaching a masterpiece, or Izzo being dumb. Either way I don't think it changes the W-L outcome but they could have given us a better game with a different gameplan I thought.
My take after 1 game is NC or bust. My goodness this team has ''it" and then some. After last nights performance you might think "are we better without X player who didn't play?"
Only this is an emphatic NO. Jalen will fill a hole rebounding and size-wise. He can play the 5 when we get into crunch time instead of the 3 headed monster of Mitch/KJ/Clemence. He stretches the floor too.
I really couldn't be happier with how they looked. Not one guy played who didn't look like they belonged on the court. Not the freshman. Not the new guys. We are a legit 12 deep.
@BShark Difference is that DaJuan knows he shouldn't shoot 15 times a game... Wheeler is basically a slightly better Charlie Moore. The understanding of his role is the big difference imo.
