Also really like those 97 uniforms.
I forgot how athletic Raef was before he hurt his knee.
34-1 in the regular season with only that overtime loss at Mizzou. And then a loss to an Arizona team that they should have beaten in the S16. One of the best KU teams of all time no doubt.
Speaking of teams that could have gone undefeated. The 1997 Jayhawks.

My Kingdom for a Boschee, sure didn't remember Collison only being a 57 % free throw shooter. - -What a loaded team 2002 , Heinrich - - Miles - - -Boschee - - Collison - - -Gooden - - Simeon Dam
I was just thinking I wish we had Jeff Boschee on next season's team. Or any season's team. 46.4% from 3 as a senior.
I remember Collison being a bad FT shooter unfortunately. 12/30 from the line in 03 against Syracuse was a large reason we didn't win the championship.
Good luck to him wherever he goes.
Are we getting another new shiny toy?

Who played on that one? my first 3 guesses don't count
My favorite player on that team might actually be Nick Collison, though. He's a really good guy off the court.
I love the 2002 team so much

Very cool. I suppose this means TyTy is going to the G League?
ya just thinking - - well so much for TY TY - - - -this coming years roster going to look - - sooooo different
Apparently TyTy is still in play. It makes me wonder about players other than Jossell (like Ochai) potentially leaving.
I just want it to be an open competition with no starting spots guaranteed to anyone (see: Quentin Grimes). I understand it's hard to land elite prospects like TyTy without promising them a starting spot, but I really hate that shit. Everyone has things they need to work on and get better at and this should hopefully be a normal(ish) offseason where players have a chance to work on those things.
It'll be nice to have a bench next season.
He handled 35 minutes against Eastern Washington pretty well.
@BShark said in Yesufu to KU (Drake PG Transfer):
@Kcmatt7 I will say that Harris is the first player I can remember in awhile where Bill just keeps beating the drum that he needs to get stronger and add some weight. We might see Harris take a bit of a back seat.
I want to see CB find the bench.
Not sure why Harris would take a back seat before some other players. His numbers were a lot better than Bryce Thompson's last season, and he was a large reason why Kansas didn't go out in the first round of the tournament.
Starting spots/minutes should be a battle next season and I'm really happy about that. Even moreso if Bishop comes here.
I like that FT percentage and it looks like he plays defense.
Very cool. I suppose this means TyTy is going to the G League?

THE ORCA HAS BEEN FIRED FROM ARIZONA
I thought next season was going to be his last run at a Final Four (Arizona was looking like they would be pretty good next season), but I guess not. The timing of this is sort of weird. Miller only had 1 year left on his contract.
Some names I've heard thrown around already are Tommy Lloyd (Gonzaga Assistant), Eric Musselman (Pirate Kansas), Mark Pope (BYU), and Josh Pastner (Ga Tech).
Who's going to replace Snacks then?
That was a wire-to-wire ass-kicking of an undefeated team by Baylor. Congrats to them.
Two things: Baylor might have gone undefeated this season if not for Covid. Gonzaga doesn't go undefeated playing in the B12 or probably any power conference.
13-2 FT's. Officials keeping Gonzaga in it a bit in the first half.
Baylor slop leads to easy Gonzaga buckets.
Honestly didn't think Baylor's bigs would be doing this well defensively against Timme. I thought not having Freddie Gillespie would be Baylor's undoing in this game.
Might have got him with the body but I thought that looked pretty clean. This always happens, though. Officials call the score.
Baylor came to play. Gonzaga will make a run and the game might be decided by how Baylor responds to Gonzaga's run.

Devin Askew transferring from Kentucky
Saw it mentioned that he is "Anrio Adams if he played big minutes"
I'm with you. He shot 34.5% from the field and 27.8% from 3. 2.9/2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. Hard pass. He's from Sacramento so he probably goes back home to a west coast school.
Most of the comments I'm reading from UNC fans aren't too thrilled about it.
Devin Askew transferring from Kentucky
UNC hires Hubert Davis as its next basketball coach.
I think KState, Mizzou, Wichita St, and Tulsa all offered when he was a recruit.
@jayballer67 He's from Lee's Summit, Missouri, so the talk is that potential suitors would be schools in that area (Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, etc.). According to a poster here that I talk to in private chat often, who shall remain nameless, Bishop and his family want him in Lawrence.

If Clemence plays, he'll probably be in that 8-10 minute range that first-year big men often are with Self. It would upset me if Lightfoot was getting minutes ahead of him. If we land another big (like Bishop) I think he might redshirt.
Clemence and Lightfoot do not play the same position and will have zero impact on each other's minutes.
Zach Clemence is going to be backing up Jalen Wilson this year at the 4 spot. The only scenario Clemence plays the 5 is a small ball line up with 5 shooters on the floor.
Cam Martin and Sydney Curry are the two guys looking to take Mitch's minutes next season with Cam Martin being the most likely at this point and Curry likely taking a redshirt to slim down and improve his quickness to eventually take over that spot when Dave leaves.
Thank you for educating me, coach.

Jeeeeeeeeeeesus Christ. Did he call bank?
Doesn't matter. Zags move on.
Well win or lose you have to commend UCLA for keeping it close for this long. Tough team
I think there's a good chance both teams come back to earth a little with shooting percentages. If UCLA can just keep playing at their pace and not turn the ball over in the 2nd half then they have a shot.
UCLA is doing a really good job of playing at their pace. They are taking their time in half-court sets and not turning the ball over too much (just 5 for the game so far). Gonzaga hasn't had a lot of opportunity to get out and run, at least by their standards. Unfortunately for UCLA, Gonzaga is shooting 61% from the floor and 50% from 3. Yet UCLA is only down a point.
I mean UCLA has gotten the worse side of the whistle and you'd have to be blind not to see it.

I'm still gonna stay in the minority I think Baylor gonna give Gonzaga fits
I don't know. Gonzaga's offense is otherworldly. Baylor has the speed to rotate defensively and two big bodies to throw at Drew Timme, but idk. I think Timme might eat Baylor alive. I would feel better if Baylor still had Freddie Gillespie. Also going to depend on how the game is called.
Baylor looks like they want Gonzaga. Yeesh
Overall: Graham, Oubre, Wiggins, Marcus Morris, Embiid
At KU: Mason, Dotson, McLemore, Robinson, Azubuike
I'll just call that my 10-man rotation. My 11th would probably be Jeff Withey
I'd have to think about it. Are we just talking about how good they were when they played at Kansas?
Moser to OU is apparently done.
Mark Turgeon getting an extension with Maryland to the delight of Terps fans lol
@bskeet Ya you're right. But, hey, 2 mil!
Looking more closely at this contract now, it probably shuts down any possibility of Self leaving KU for the Spurs. It looks like he would have to pay Kansas if he left for the NBA.
Someone who understands this better than I do, tell me: if the IARP issues a show-cause penalty against Self, would Kansas just have to take it now? Like we couldn't part ways with Self so that KU got off with a lighter penalty?
Brandon McKissic to Florida
Porter Moser considering a 6-year offer from OU.
Career stats. Dave's career is 53.7%, which would still put him near the bottom of the list.

@KirkIsMyHinrich And then for the next five years they have to keep his skeleton on the sidelines. I don't make the rules.
Not to get too morbid, but it would probably enhance the "Pay Heed All Who Enter" banner if Bill's skeleton was hanging there like a pirate.
I'm assuming this means Self has to coach at KU until he dies, hopefully on the court in heroic fashion.
