So for some perspective on Dave, here are the field goal percentages of some other recent KU big men:

6. Joel Embiid - 62.6%

11. Cliff Alexander - 56.6%
12. Cheick Diallo - 56.9%
13. Jamari Traylor - 53.2%
14. Marcus Morris - 55.5%

16. Greg Ostertag - 55.0%
17. Julian Wright - 55.5%
18. Sasha Kaun - 56.8%

21. And finally Dave McCormack, who shot 51.5% from the field this season.

A few things here. Eric Chenowith sucks. Perry Ellis shot 130 3-pointers at Kansas. If you take those away, his field goal percentage goes up to about 52%. And Ellis was like a 3/4, Dave is not. So pretty much the only big man that I looked at who Dave shot better than was Eric Chenowith. Most of the other guys were around 55% or better from the field. So a reasonable expectation for Dave next season I think is to get his field goal percentage up to around 55%. One more thing to add, Dave is actually by percentage the best free-throw shooter of all of these guys listed (At Kansas - Joel Embiid is shooting 86% from the line in the NBA), so it would be good if he got to the line more than 3.6 times per game. So that's what I want from Dave next season: field goal percentage up around 55% and more trips to the line.

Probably depends on the size of the bag Pearl wants to drop

If he can do something to help his nerves that would be good too. I think he should start smoking weed before games.

It's tough to go from Doke shooting 100% from the field to whatever Dave did this season.

Jalen is the player I want to come back the most. He averaged 12 and 8 as a freshman. He went for 23 and 10 against Kentucky and 16 and 13 against Texas - those teams with length. If he improves his 3-point shooting and FT shooting a little bit (33.3% and 63.0%, respectively, not bad but not great) I think he could be one of the best players in college basketball next season.

Kyler Edwards leaving Tech.

Met him in Lawrence when I was a little kid. He shook my hand and said "Nice to meet you, young man." Was never really mad at him for leaving us for UNC. I always appreciated the style of basketball he coached; get out and run, let athletes be athletes and play basketball. Not this bullshit slow the game down and take charges approach that we see with some teams. Hope he has a pleasant retirement.

A move that should foster friendships between the Texas Tech and Texas fanbases.

Maybe he'll grow a beard and Self will call him Tanner Groves.

Girard being the starting point guard ahead of Kadary Richmond this season was controversial for a lot of Syracuse fans. And apparently Boeheim told Richmond that Girard was going to be the starting point guard next season again.

Girard by the way kind of sucks (9.8 ppg on 35.5% shooting, 2.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists). I have no idea why you would name Girard the starting point guard for next season so early unless you wanted Richmond to leave. So ya, his beating on social media is kind of warranted.

We did just have a team made up of guys that stuck around. That team lost in the 2nd round. Always a catch 22. If that same core stays maybe we get even better teams the next 2 years with an influx of talent via the High School and transfer market. I think that is what Self is really trying to get. He needs 1-2 guards and then whatever else shakes off the tree.

Tyty Washington can move the needle. A transfer like McKissic would give us bench shooting and defense. Not really. Garrett and Agbaji were the only returning players who averaged more than 20 minutes per game in the 19-20 season. We have a lot more returning minutes next season (Agbaji and Braun over 30, Wilson and Dave over 20, and Thompson and Harris over 15).

A young point guard would be great, and maybe another guard that can fill an Isaiah Moss type role. I'm excited about next season's team, but it's mostly because I believe in player development and team chemistry and think that there is a lot of good talent on the current KU roster.

I guess we'll see. I have very little faith in transfers moving the needle much for Kansas. I'm all for acquiring young talent that's going to stick around for multiple years.

We are definitely hoping for improvement out of Bryce. I would bet money on 4, possibly 5 new faces.

He's up to 47% now. Every opposing big man increases their 3-point average by at least 5 percent when they play against Kansas.

The game we barely beat Kentucky it was because Jalen was awesome. Probably not happening in this one.

So this is why some of us were worried about this game

Play up on Isaiah. There's no reason to give him that much of a cushion.

The best defense is a good offense sort of game plan for both teams.

Garza already has 12 points, he's on pace for about 50. We'll see if he can keep that up or if the speed of the game is going to wear him out.
