Listened to the sports talk guys this morning after Texas lost. Done with Shaka as are most fans. Problem is the AD.

Being in the Austin market, I have not heard any "rumors" as to why he was suspended, but it IS clear that Shaka is on shaky ground. He's being compared to Charlie Strong and you know how that turned out. They don't like the hires that were done by Patterson here and he is the last one. Plus they are getting a new venue and they have to be able to have the fans supporting it for as much as they are saying it is going to cost. Our game there wasn't even a sell out. Have watched them all season and it is pitiful the crowd that shows up. There's hardly any talk on sports radio/tv about them, even after our loss. It is so much a football school and bball is just not what the fans like with the way that Shaka has taken them.
@Kcmatt7 Health issues can take up a whole lot of time and energy and during the last year I've seen my share. Hadn't logged on until I posted the pic from the UT game. Have kept up with the team but not in the same intense way I had before always going to this site first. My life changed so much with not just my health but the loss of my husband that it does cause you to reassess what you want and how you move forward. I think I quit coming here right after the Final Four loss to Villanova. I saw first hand what that loss meant to the team. I knew the ugly posts were going to come and I just couldn't force myself to read all that vitriol to kids who were hurting as bad as all of us. Sometimes people expect way too much from the team and coaches. I just chose to not have that negativity in my life.

What I would give to have seen yesterday's team play that way last week. What I saw in Austin was atrocious. I guess every team will, at some point, have a really bad game. But for us to do so in both Austin and at WVU was worrisome. I thought a "players only meeting" was needed but glad to see Devonte' step up.
Hope the team realizes how much more fun it is to have a first half like they did yesterday.

Morning Bucketeers! Big Day for our boys. I hope to bring some of the love that is on this site and grateful to have had all of your insights. I've learned so much. My phone does not have much memory, just a simple android. If I get wifi I will do my best to take shots to show you all the action. I can twitter to @HighEliteMajor maybe. It may have to wait till I get back and can download from my camera. This is a Bucket List for sure and am thankful for all the support and love shown to me by you all over these past couple of years. Preston went to visit his brother yesterday so on the way to SA I am sure to get a lot of inner stuff and will pass on what I can. Getting to be around them in the hotel is going to be so much fun. We gotta win this. I just hope our boys play for their Mommas and Grandmas, their fans and themselves. Our brutal conf. schedule has prepared them for this. I was at the conf. opener here in Austin and having seen the growth and hard work put in by everyone, this is the top of the top. I look for a close game but think our having been in so many pressure games this season will be the deciding point.

I think I've told you all that I worked for 31+ years with the brother (an attorney) of Dr. Jeff Randall (one of the team surgeons). Last year after the loss to Oregon, he promised me a ticket if we got to SA. After I retired in July, from time to time I would check in with him and once sent him a photo posted by D. Beatty that showed a picture of his nephew (his namesake - Preston Randall) going off to the Navy Seal program. SO, after we beat Duke I texted him and he responded how much fun that was. Dr. R and his wife get 2 free tickets and then he gets an extra 6. So when Preston and I talked on Monday, he said he had to find out if their mom/dad were coming from AZ and that he would call me back. So last night getting ready for bed I had been kinda bummed all day because I still hadn't heard from him and thought that meant bad news, and wanted to text him all day to say "Go ahead and give me the bad news", but he called at 9:50 and said I was in!!!!!!!!! I am so pumped. His other brother and 2 of his kids are going, along with me and Preston, and then his wife (who has a commitment already and won't go to the game) is going to come down to SA separately with their daughter to have lunch and the daughter will stay with us while she goes back to Austin for a Deppak Chopra (sp?) show and their daughter will ride back with Preston and me. I am going to meet him at his house at 8:00 am so we can get down there to enjoy the atmosphere. That makes for a really long day, but I am so excited to experience it all. Rewind to 2011 when we were down there and we were right there in the team hotel and had all the connections. We will be doing the same thing here. The tickets are for all 3 games, so when we win, I am also in for Monday's game too!
So, anybody else going to be there that I could run into?

Jacob Young announced on March 22nd and then this came in today. Given Bamba leaving and seniors (who had bench duty) leaving anyways, this leaves him without any real cohesiveness going into next year among the young guys. Must run a hellofa program since he's had transfers every year he has been here. :smirk:

@mayjay Glad they got him. These past few weeks I have woken every day so thankful that I no longer had to be in Austin. Not just this but the SXSW event and the people from all over the world there for it. Having retired last July I have only been inside the City once, and that was to go to the UT game! They just released his name (24 yrs old) and right now they are surrounding a house in Pflugerville (next to Round Rock) that they believe was his. His parents live not too far from him so they've got some 'splainin to do. That area is where I went every day for my radiation and chemo treatments and know it well. I do think the Police, FBI and other agencies really did a superb job yesterday finding the link to the boxes dropped off and getting the surveillance video and then finding out that Texas can take a face shot and run that against the DMV pictures on a drivers license. Who knew they could do that? I think they said Texas was only one of a few that could do that. People need to be diligent until they know for sure where he had been the last 24-48 hours and apparently they have cell phone towers and technology to figure that out. Wonder if his house is wired since he was at a Red Roof Inn when they found him last night?
So CBS re-seeded the Sweet 16. What ESPN did it did for clicks. They hate that they can't broadcast anything but NIT.
