I'm so confused right now. I have heard valid points from both ways. I was listening to a KU podcast yesterday, and they brought up some very good points.

One of the first points brought out and have to agree -- - - KJ Adams, I think everybody loves KJ , how hard he plays and guards but we just can't have KJ on the floor for 30 plus minutes, not with Hunter. He can't or just doesn't rebound , he has no shot , more of a liability.

They posed this question -- -good question and that was-- Is Coach Self a good fit with the portal ? - -Now they said for sure he can hit it ard , recruit it well BUT is the players he get fit the KU System ?- -They made the point that It's on Coach Self with these guys because he knew what kind of a player when they recruited them.

They talked about How Coach Self hs gotten these kids so shell shocked, they have lost all confidence , instead of Coach allowing them to play through their mistakes, they are so worried about being yanked. - -Self say you don't know what I want from you - - -then you can just sit over here on the bench till you get it figured out.

He knew what type of player he was getting with AJ , saying AJ is attacking, Talking about AJ shooting 4 free throws a game last yeat , vut only like 1.5 this year - - -- ATTACK drive the ball.

They talk about how we heard how things were going to be different more like 4 out one in- -and what do we have right now ?- - -- -was going to be a different approach - -yet this year KU KU's offense, they are only averaging 27 % at shooting three's- - that ranks 287th in the Nation attempting a three.- -While at two point shot attempts we are 5th in the nation attempting a two point shot.

Crazy thing to is - -I didn't know is KU is the Most experienced team in the Nation- the average experience age for KU is 3- --1/2 years - -The National average right now is a 1 - -1/2,

They also brought up that KU had tried Seven different combinations of lineups ---- you know how many of those Seven is that started KJ - -Juan -& Hunter - - ALL SEVEN--- they said that in the end Coach Self is a guy that is going to have on the floor who he trusts most , and that is KJ - -Hunter -& Juan- - They said you are not going to gain Coach Self's trust on the offensive end - I just don't quite know what to think.- -They also said too that just because KU is playing at home today just don't automatically think KU's problem is going to go away and they are coming out guns a blaze and the problems are over -- this team has work to do

@wissox even in Conference tourneys, it's the Champion that gets the auto. I've never really cared for the conference tourneys, I think the Regular Season Champion should be the one that gets the automatic bid, I don't favor rewarding a team that gets hot for three games instead of taking the team that has proven that they are the REAL champion's by the work they do over the course of the Season- - not a weekend.

They expand the tourney again then your going to start getting sub par 500 % teams making the tourney - -no thanks. - -totally dilutes it even more, some of these teams are not champions, & that is what it's still about.

I still remember when the NCAA tourney was a thirty two team tourney, and they actually had a third place game in the tourney.

NCAA President Charlie Baker is wanting to expand the NCAA Tourney anywhere from 72-76 teams, guess it's sounding favorable -- Why ? - - Why ?- - they already have diluted this dang thing already enough, before long your going to have regular Season losing record teams getting in the tourney , really takes away from the purpose of the Tourney -- hell just open it up to what all 365 teams and make it a season long tourney.

Said they need to make a decision by the end of the School yr so if passed can be ready for 2026--- NOO OOOOO OO .

We got another boost today with Bryce Foster saying he is returning , big lift there.

@Kcmatt7 I agree I still say Lance is nothing but class and if we as fans don't do stupid things and run him off, this program is going to continue to get better. These losses this yr are very fixable - -we got on the right track with Borland gone, and also a new OC When you figure in what ? 5--out of those seven losses were by six or less points, and we were in position in everyone of those where we were leading in the 4th quarter and defense gave up late critical yards where we couldn't get that stop , or silly penalty , ( Hello Mamba ) -they are very fixable.

This is going to be a challenge for Coach this next year with all the new faces but I have total faith if anyone can - -Lance can.

Some direct , very honest , strong , solid statements from Coach: -- - It used to be you threw the ball inside to draw fouls and get free throws, that's not the case anymore. You drive the ball, attack the rim -- -we don't have guys that drive the ball.

Guys not being comfortable, and until they get comfortable instead of thinking, they have to get to the point of reacting instead of thinking.

Did mention AJ , someone ask about AJ & Coach said he isn't doing either , said Aj is not driving the ball, attacking the rim. He said AJ averaged like four free throw attempts last Season , he said this Season he is averaging a little over one - -maybe like one . two

Said we don't have guys driving to the basket.

He mentioned something and just totally threw the biggest curve to me. He said and I am now totally lost cause Coach was ask about Shaq Moore- - Last I knew or heard Shaq was done at KU , would never step on the floor again, that he would transfe out at Semester - - So he was ask about Shaq , and said Shaq had practiced the last couple of days and was good, and they hoped thhey could get him on the floor. Whaaaaa ? - -what did I miss ? - -what changed ? He did say they wasn't going to just throw him in the game just for him to get minutes, but said he was doing good.--- I'm lost on Shaq's role now, but sounds to me from what Coach making statement like that - -He isn't going anywhere

Davion Adkins rescheduled his visit. Was suppose to be here this weekend but, now Scheduled for Jan 25th when we play Houston.

247 lists him currently # 29 in the class . They list him as a 6'8 Center out of Dallas Texas

From the things I've read and things been hearing sure sounds like the East side reno will be done and the Stadium part will be completed in the fall of 2026 , that doesn't include anything other then just the East side of the stadium.

Talk is should be easier, and not as expensive- -less seating , no suites- - no press box, or video boards , etc. Sounds like also going to have a underground parking garage right there at the Stadium.-- -When this is all done everything included looking at rright around 759 Million Dollars

Just got done reading clipping about the renovation plus for Booth Memorial , crazy things for sure, when it gets done gonna be one of a kind.

Ku is asking for or already got 85 million in Public incentives , everything from Star bonds from the state , to special taxing from the city to help pay for the project.

Plus KU also is planning to raise approximately 100 Million from it's Donors and expect it's private development partner in the project - the firm that built the new KCI Airport to invest more then 125 million in cash in the venture.

All of that is in addition to the 448 million that it is currently spending to the West side & North of David Booth Kansas Memorial stadium. That project expects to be complete in August which includes the Conference and Convention center in the North Bowl of the Stadium. KU has received 85 Million in State and Federal grant funds to help make it feasible. When the two phases of the Ku project which KU calls the Gateway project are added together there will be 759 Million in development at the site.

From whats being talked about I guess there is talk that the East side renovation will start at the end of next season- -hopefully be ready for the 2026 or possibly the 2027 season

I undestand we are in the age where chances are greater then not that we have to pay to watch sports BUT the point is a per pro sports as long as these idiotic owners keep tossing around these millions of dollars at their players , it's us as the fans are the one's having to pay for those actions.

Hell I can remember being able to go to a foot ball game walk up and buy a ticket for 16.00 dollars and Basketball wasn't far behind. I can remember watching the entire Big 8 tourney my brother and I would get tickets for the entire tourney and pay less then 100.00 or there abouts - -now you can't even buy a session for that.- -just has got totally out of hand. Like I've mentioned there is some debate amongst analysts that Darryn should be the number one player coming out of High School. - - -One . Two really doesn't matter to me. All I know the kid has it all, kind of low key , like they say he let's his game do his talking for him. - -One thing I like is how he attacks the glass, and how he rebounds the ball also, something this team is missing badly.

I'm looking forward to seeing him play his one Season here GOD Willing I'll still be able to see him go to work, I think we are in for a treat.

Holy Dog crap. Guys I just read this piece and even for me the ordinary average run of the mill fan this has become so frustrating it makes even me want to just throw my arms up and say screw sports - this crap has ruined College Sports. It's really no fun anymore, it is no longer a game, players thinking about rivals , it's a business , it's who can make the most money with these kids.

This example is about a particular football example but , we know it's happening in Basketball too. Now this case is the example.

So OK here it is the situation I'm talking about. - -There is a player, playing for Florida Gators he told Florida he wanted some guarantees , he told the School that he wanted 45,000 a month to play for them -- - he wants a guaranteed starting position at OLB- - - he wants guaranteed to be able to play on third down & -- -he wants more snaps in the rotation. What the hell has happened to the game, the sport, it's just been ruined. The Players name is Jack Pyburn.

This dam portal & NIL has absolutely destroyed College sports. I'm telling you if something doesn't change what your going to see is that some or maybe a lot of the College Coach's are finally just going to say scree this , I don't need this stress and headaches, Think about it these College Coach's spend so much time and effort evaluating prospects, out on the road recruiting , then working camps , and practices and such , and now this is what the game has become ? -- You could very easily see Coach's just saying the hell with this, they are to the point now where these players are holding Coach's /Schools hostage until they meet the players demands Hell even now think about this the Coach recruits a big five star High School recruit , say a QB---- RB- - - Receiver, whatever the case even with this kid not having stepped onto the field at College still now making ridiculous demands before he commits. The game is ruined..

Now here is the kicker I guess Aj was suppose to go watch the KSU/LSU game on the 14th of Nov when in reality -- AJ cancels his trip to watch the game and actually Committed to BYU the next day way back on the 15th of November,

You don't want him to come in and try and play for a semester and lose a year of eligibility by doing that. He isn't going to help that much in a semester of play , going to take time to get accustomed to college ball.

about a month a go Darryn and Prolific Prep whooped up on the Boozer brothers , Darry 100 % went off in that one, out played Boozer silly.

Then over the weekend Darryn and Prolific Prep -- Darryn WENT OFF against and out played AJ Dybantsa -- Prolific beat Utah Prep , just remember Aj is the # one recruit but there is debate about that -- Darryn very well could be - -absolute beast.-- - Darryn went off for 32 points - - - 10 rebounds- - -- & 8 assists, thing in this kid is like this night in -- night out.

This was said about the game and Darryn :Elite Player , Nails Deep Jumpers - - Drives to rim for jams-- - -plays through contact --- looks like a 17 year old kid that could get buckets right now in NBA games- -- Better yet he literally will take over when his team needs him to. -- He lets his game do his talking for him -pretty quiet talks with the ball in his hands --- -Man can't wait

I'm sorry there is nobody worth that type of money- - - -nobody period. When you stop and think about it, that's a hell of a lot more money then the President of United Stated gets paid - - -what's wrong with that picture, you think about all the tough decisions on trying to run the country the stress of being the President all the obligations , decisions and such and then you have a guy that is making that much money playing in a game that he loves, no way does that begin to compare.

Yet as long as these owners are going to keep throwing that kind of money out to these guys then it's just going to keep getting worse.

Bottom line who is it that suffers the most from things such as this? - -Us - - w the fans are the one's who end up getting screws the most, the owners pay these idiotic salaries and then as one way of getting their money back -- just continue to jack the prices up on tickets, parking , concessions , and whatever else and it's the fan that gets screwed. what's going to happen somewhere along the line is they are going to end up pricing themselves right out of the market sooner or later. the middle class and lower class people sure the hell can't afford the price of a game the way its moving now.

@BigBad Well said. I've tried to say before, if it was acceptable by the NCAA regulation, after performances like this last week if he could get away with it Coach Self would make sure these guys had an understanding about the game of basketball

Thing is a Coach can only do so much, he can grill these kids , keep running the same things , basic things and such but at the end of the day it's the players responsibility to handle business, He can't go out on the floor , bring the ball up the floor , make the right passes , make the right decisions , get the rebounds , set the screens , defend the ball , play the pick and roll on defense , That falls on the players

Coach doesn't have time to baby sit some of these guys - -guys that think they should start - -play 30/33/35 minutes a game without proving their case and showing they deserve those things.- -There is not a single person in this chat room that doesn't know that if you don't play defense or at least try to play defense then your not going to play. There are some players that think there is only one end the court - -the offensive end, but even then you would think there was some deadly formula on the back boards that will be fatal if they should by accident try and get after a offensive rebound.

You have certain players that just don't want to try and defend, they just want to play the offensive end, and don't do a very good job of that either , by making bad decisions with very bad shot selection , forced shots and errant dum passes.

I'll give Flory & Passmore a little bit of a pass with this right now- -they are Freshmen still learning , but when you have fifth , sixth yr players- -experienced portal players that's play college ball when your having them play like they are and some it shows as long as they are getting that NIL - it's like eh, I'm not playing defense , I'm not worried about effort, they don't give a dam about who they are representing as long as they have their NIL they are good to go.
IF there are players that are wishing they were back at Alabama , or Wisconsin or where the frick ever I'd be the first one showing them the door. You want out?- -then get the hell out and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. We want kids here at KU that WANT TO BE HERE because of our rich Basketball history, not just NIL

AJ Storr is a BAD fit, plays no defense, a lot of times looks dis interested just a really bad fit , kind of like Hawkins for K/State-- has for sure under preformed, hmmm , Storr , Hawkins must be a big 10 thing.

Yet for some here might want to pay attention already this year in Basketball KU by far is not the only team stinking up the place- - Arizona stinks- -- U Conn is not that great - - as of right now anyways, - - Baylor getting beat multiple times , that's just naming three of the prominent teams there are others that suck too.

More FYI the Big Twelve in General this season sucks, this Conference is in no way the power conference it has been the past years. The SEC is by far the dominant Conference , not even close. - They are probably going to get twelve in the NCAA been mentioned by several outlet's and couldn't agree more, talk about their whole Conference will end the Season in a tourney - -NCAA's or NIT.

I wouldn't want to guess who is winning the Big Twelve, right now for sure no dominant team, going to be ugly. Again KU better get their act together - out of our three so called prize portal transfers, very easily turn into a bitch of a Season unless they figure it out, only Mayo has at least play ok in most games, maybe not today but sure the hell better then Storr , Griffen looks lost

Only thing it didn't have was the time of the game said TBA, but it gave the date of the game and where it was being played and all five of those was one right after another

It's crazy we have Five straight home Conference games next yr then finish out with two on the road.-- We get Utah , Okie St , KSU , Cinn , & WV all at home, might be a little help for us since we will be in huge re-build next yr.
