KU is going to win at least a share the Big 12 title this year.

@Texas-Hawk-10 It's 4 on 5 since he can't shoot. That will stop the flow.
I'm sick of that line because Garrett can drive and it's not 4 on 5 with him out there.
Fightsongwriter said:
@Texas-Hawk-10 But Garrett may be the issue with clogging up the offense.
Garrett wasn't the issue with the offense. He isn't a ball stopper.
DanR said:
What if Garrett is the bad link and not Vick?
I doubt it. Garrett never had an issue effort or attitude.
A lot of the personality this team had mirrored Vick's personality.

Surely someone here thinks we can blow this lead.
No. West Virginia is too bad. They might not hit 43 for the game.
They will, KU's defense will ease up late. WVU probably ends up in the low 50's.

Let's just win out and get back in the discussion for a 2 seed. Not saying it will happen. But this team could do it.
If KU won out, including the B12 tournament, they'd definitely be a 2 seed and have a shot at a 1 seed with help.
stoptheflop said:
I can't remember a WV game where the refs called more fouls on WV.
Pretty sure WVU got called for a lot more fouls than KU in AFH last year. At least if the FTA was any indication.

He's not Frank, his his game is Sherron's game. Born out of Chicago.
Best half of the year by far. And finish strong ISU!
@HighEliteMajor There's an FBI investigation going on right now into the EYBL league that started in 2017. Nike's day is coming, it's just a matter of when the FBI finishes that investigation and starts releasing info and charging people.

Drop Adidas. Pick up Nike. All kinds of problems would go away very quickly.
Everyone is dirty, it's just a matter of time before Nike and Under Armour's dealings are made public as well.

On the games themselves, ISU @ KSU is pretty much an elimination game for the Cyclones. If they drop that one, they have no shot at a title. OU @ TCU is game that I think knocks OU from the dance if lost. OSU @ Texas, easily a must win for Texas and their post season hopes. Baylor @ TT is another elimination game for the loser in terms of the conference race. Us at home against WV is a must win for our conference hopes.
OU and Texas won't make it. UT probably enters the tournament with at least 14 or 15 losses. OU is already at 9 losses in B12 play, they won't make the tournament either.
B12 is a 5 or 6 bid league this year. KU, KSU, ISU, TTU, and Baylor are pretty much locks at this point. TCU is team on the fence in B12.
Go Cyclones tomorrow!

How on Earth does UT keep Shaka after this season?
They don't give a rat's ass about basketball. That's why it took nearly a decade to finally find a location for a new basketball arena and why said arena will only have a 10,000 seat capacity for basketball.
@mayjay The reason people were frustrated was because KU blew a 12 point lead and had shown an ability to close games on the road this season. It looked like KU was getting ready to do what they had typically done on the road this season.
@truehawk93 I agree he'll will be fine, just a matter of when it happens, but I suspect it won't happen until next season though on a consistent basis.

Big Mac is JTray-esque, only bigger-er
He's freshman T-Rob. Once McCormack channels his energy and slows down in offense and learns good defensive techniques, he'll be a beast.

Lets hear that chant now TCU TCU TCU!!! HAHAHA!!!!!!! Take your Jamie sign and shove it.
I got nothing against Dixon or TCU. I've always enjoyed my trips to Ft. Worth and Dixon has done a great job making TCU a good program within the B12.
KJ was big tonight for KU.
Mitch is the perfect role/glue guy.
Lawson has had plenty of good looks, it's just not falling for him tonight.
@Crimsonorblue22 That wasn't private.
KU isn't really playing that bad. Ball movement has been solid and KU has had a lot open looks, just haven't been making them. Defense has also been solid tonight so far.

Do we not count Perry Ellis as a "big man"? If so I'd say he was the most skilled big for Self. he could do it all he just wasn't crazy aggressive.
I don't think Ellis was all that skilled. Slightly more athletic than Dedric, but he was still a below the rim player. He was also a below average rebounder and defender for his size. He was a great face up player, Dedric and Marcus Morris might be the only better 2 under Self, but his lack of athleticism, rebounding, and defending are what knocks him down for me.
Embiid is by far the most skilled big that has come through KU under Self. If we're talking about while at KU, I think it's Simien, Lawson, Arthur, Embiid, Marcus Morris, Markieff Morris, Aldrich, Robinson, Withey, and Wright for my top 10.
If KSU somehow finishes 14-4 in league play, they're winning the conference outright this year. I don't see KU winning out with their road issues this year. If KU could hold serve at home and finish 3-1 on the road and finish 13-5 in conference, hopefully that would be enough to share the title this year.
McCormack is showing why he isn't ready to play big minutes yet. He's still totally lost out there. 4 offensive boards and 0 points today and still fairly lost on defense. It would be great to get him going, but he hasn't shown anything this season that the light is coming on for him, at least with Grimes, there's flickers every once in a while.
If Baylor beats KSU tonight, KU controls their own destiny for the B12.
For those of ya'll saying Dotson needs to get his jumper going, it's already going. Dotson is shooting 41% from 3 this year. Dotson needs the Brandon Rush treatment to dial up the aggressiveness on taking that shot. Dotson is a dead eye shooter in the mold of Mason, Graham, and Svi, he just doesn't shoot it enough because he can't get his own shot yet.
Garrett is the much better option as a lead guard than Grimes. Garrett doesn't turn the ball over much as much as Grimes. Grimes as lead guard still allows teams to play off Garrett whereas Garrett running the show forces a defender on him instead of ignoring him.
Grimes just doesn't have the mentality to be a lead guard at this level of play.

@jayballer73 We will see how this all shakes out. I still think Self should have stuck to his guns and had Vick take the last train out of town last summer. But he missed on Romeo and Cremo so he couldn't resist taking Vick back. I strongly believe Vick has been a bad influence on the young players. We will find out A LOT over the next 5 games. Just this board rat's opinion.
I agree with the bad influence part. This team definitely took on the identity of a leader and that leader just happened to be Vick. This team definitely has had his personality for most of the season so now I'm curious to see who steps up or if this team takes on someone else's personality.
This was as good a recruiting class as Miles could have put together. Definitely looks like a zone read based offense is coming to Lawrence based on signing 3 mobile QB's combined with Koenning's typical version of the spread offense.
If it's a legit personal issue, then hopefully Vick gets through whatever that issue is.
If it's a typical Bill Self kicking a kid off the team without throwing the kid under the bus type deal, then hopefully Vick's influence on this team will disappear and KU can finish the year strong and make a decent showing in the tournament.
I hate that KU needs so much help down the stretch, but we definitely need Baylor to win on Saturday along with TCU disrupting Hilton Magic.
KU has inked 3 so far today. The big one is former Michigan commit Amauri Pesek-Hickson from Blue Valley North HS. Miles considers him to be a RB.
KU also inked Kannapolis, NC QB Jordan Medley. KU was his only P5 offer, but he did have offers from Air Force and Army so intelligence and character are going to no issue with him.
KU also signed CB Kenny Logan Jr. put of Menendez HS in St. Augustine, FL. Logan had offers from a dozen P5 schools along with some top G5 schools like UCF and USF.
Steven Parker has yet to sign, but should happen at some point.

@approxinfinity What happened to Moore in the second half? Disappeared to the bench it seemed
Better question is what happened to Mitch. Couldn't even get off the bench 2nd half deposited his 1st half.
So Barry Brown with the dick move to end the game?

Can you imagine KSU fans if a KU player dunked like that to close out a game against them? lol
Probably think it's a dick move, lol!
2md half officiating was trash.
I know Vick gets a ton of crap for his defense, but the Sneed 3 was good offense. Vick had 2 guys in his zone and he tried to stop the ball first which is what you're supposed to do.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I don't think any were like this.
Yes they were, all very young teams that struggled big time at different points in the season. 2005-06 team was 3-4 at one point, 2013-14 lost 10 games and 2014-15 lost 9 games. 2008-09 only one with an experienced guard, but next to no experience in the post.

Open Letter to all the B12 Teams: Enjoy this year. It's not the kind of KU team you seen except once every 15-20 years.
This is the 4th or 5th team like this in the past 15 years. 2005-06, 2008-09, 2013-14, and 2014-15.
Any reason McCormack hasn't played tonight?

Gotta make the adjustment to how the refs are calling it.
Lawson, Lightfoot, Agabaji, Dotson, Moore.

Not really though, KSU has a pretty solid basketball history overall.
Please sub Mitch for Vick!
