Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 13, 2017 12:27 AM

Does everyone forget that it took Iowa St. setting a new school record for 3 point FG's made just to force that AFH game to OT? It took a record setting performance for ISU combined with KU playing one of their worst halves of the year to force OT. That's not very likely to happen again.

Is all the crying about Syracuse simply to appease the NY television market?

Syracuse has one of the top journalism schools in the country and there's a lot of non-athlete on air personalities at the major networks that graduated from there so there's an inherent media bias with Syracuse because Syracuse produced many media members .

@Blown More importantly, does our team remember blowing a home game against an inferior opponent because they went through the motions the 2nd half? It's a gift.

It also took a record shooting performance from ISU to force OT. They won't play that well again and KU won't play that bad again.

TREMONT WATERS BACK IN PLAY • Mar 12, 2017 10:52 PM

@jaybate-1.0 Doesn't Georgetown have pretty high admission standards?

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 10:47 PM

@HawkChamp Midwest is the 2nd easiest draw after the west and has a lot of offensively challenged teams in it.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 10:42 PM

I like this draw. Miami can't score, they have one good road win against fellow offensively challenged Virginia while Virginia was cratering. Michigan St. can't win outside of East Lansing this year. Purdue is not a great team, it took a record setting shooting performance for ISU to beat Kansas. Louisville doesn't have a good road/neutral court win outside of Wichita St. Oregon lost their best big man. I really wouldn't be surprised to see Michigan emerge from that half of the bracket with the way they're playing right now.

KU really does have one of their easier draws for a path to the Final Four and I think KU has the weakest 2 and 3 seeds at this point considering injuries.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 10:26 PM

@Blown It did start at 5:30, if you lived in the Eastern time zone.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 10:25 PM

@Blown KSU is playing Danny Manning's Wake Forest Tuesday night in a First Four game.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 10:10 PM

So glad Syracuse didn't get in this year. They didn't deserve it last year either and really didn't deserve it this year.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:59 PM

I'm going to enjoy Danny beat KSU!

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:57 PM

Kentucky is probably going to be pissed they got Wichita St. Shockers are way the hell better than a 10 seed. WSU might be one of the few teams that can slow down UCLA as well.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:56 PM

@wissox UW also played like crap down the stretch too though.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:48 PM

We've had much worse draws than this in the past.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:47 PM

Oregon and UL should be flipped, but I guess Oregon is getting dropped because of injuries.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:47 PM

Why are there 3 B12 teams in the same region?

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:45 PM

UL does not deserve that 2 seed.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:44 PM

Why the hell is ISU in our half of the bracket?

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:42 PM

@KUSTEVE Arizona won the PAC 12 so they will stay out west, we're getting Oregon.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:39 PM

Duke and Baylor is going to be a helluva Sweet 16 match up.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:37 PM

I'm curious who the 3 seed in the South is going to be because I thought that was going to be Baylor instead of Baylor in the East.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:36 PM

Since Duke is in the East, that likely means Oregon is going to be our 2 seed.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:34 PM

Looks like KU will be the second overall seed based on the bracket layout CBS showed.

Latest Bracketology by Joey • Mar 12, 2017 08:49 PM

@jayballer54 KU's the 3rd betting favorite in Vegas to win the title and was second before Duke won last night. KU's getting plenty of attention from those who know the game instead of talk about the game.

Here's the latest Assembly Call projection. http://assemblycall.com/bracketology-ncaa-tournament-bracket-projections-mar-12-2017/ ↗

Villanova, UNC, Gonzaga, Kansas in that order as the 1 seeds.

He has Duke and UCLA in the bottom half of the Midwest as the 2 and 3 seeds which I would take in a heartbeat because those are two of the most dangerous teams and only 1 of them would advance deep enough to potentially face KU. I'll take that. He as Notre Dame and Cincy as the 4/5 seeds and Arkansas/Dayton as the 8/9 seeds. Bucknell shows up in KU's half of the bracket as the 13 seed in the Midwest, but that would be a potential Sweet 16 game so not much chance of that game happening.

Latest Bracketology by Joey • Mar 12, 2017 08:00 PM

Duke is not jumping KU. Even with KU losing to TCU in the quarterfinals and Duke winning the ACC tournament, KU still has the superior resume in every way including a neutral court head to head victory over Duke. If for whatever reason, the committee has their heads so far up their butts that they do give Duke a 1 seed over KU in the Midwest, KU would still be the 2 seed in the Midwest which still means KU would go through Tulsa and KC. The only significant change would be KU wearing blue in the Elite 8 when they beat Duke again.

Latest Assembly Call bracket • Mar 12, 2017 02:10 AM

@globaljaybird Gonzaga did beat Arizona this year, and I believe that game was in Tucson.

Marcus Garrett • Mar 12, 2017 01:57 AM

@BShark Jump shooting has nothing to do with FT shooting.

Latest Assembly Call bracket • Mar 11, 2017 08:27 PM

@KUSTEVE I don't think Lunardi is wrong in this case. Villanova wrapped up the overall 1 seed just by reaching the Big East finals, UNC is likely going to be the overall 2 seed because losing to Duke hurts resumes a lot less than losing to TCU does. KU will be the 3rd overall seed and Gonzaga will be 4th.

Lunardi is also not the only person who has UNC over Kansas right now either. Assembly Call (the top bracketologist in recent years) has KU as the 4th overall seed behind Gonzaga.

JUICE BOX • Mar 11, 2017 08:20 PM

@truehawk93 Self didn't play for Eddie Sutton. Eddie Sutton was coaching Arkansas when Self played at OSU under Paul Hansen. Self was an assistant for current Florida St. coach Leonard Hamilton at OSU longer than he was under Sutton. Self can be branches on the Larry Brown, Eddie Sutton, and Joe B. Hall tree which connects back to Rupp which connects back to Phog.

Latest Assembly Call bracket • Mar 11, 2017 08:11 PM

Here's who I think we'll end up seeing as the top 4 seeds in each region.

East: (1) Villanova, (2) Duke, (3) West Virginia, (4) Florida

South: (1) North Carolina, (2) Kentucky, (3) Baylor, (4) UCLA

Midwest: (1) Kansas, (2) Arizona/Oregon loser, (3) Louisville, (4) American Champ as long as it's Cincy/SMU and not UConn

West: (1) Gonzaga, (2) Arizona/Oregon winner, (3) Florida St., (4) Butler

@JayHawkFanToo Absolutely no chance Duke gets a 1 seed, they have 8 losses this year. Their ceiling is the 2 seed in the East and that's only if they beat Notre Dame tonight. If they lose the ACC title game, they probably end up 3 seed in East or South

Marcus Garrett • Mar 11, 2017 01:57 PM

FT's may end up being a big concern with Garrett. Last night, Skyline lost in triple OT to Cy-Falls 46-43 in the Texas 6A semifinals. Garrett was at the FT with 7 seconds left and Skyline down 2 in triple OT and missed both FT's before a Cy-Falls hit 1 of 2 FT's to ice it.

@JayHawkFanToo Nova, KU, and Gomzaga are the 1 seed locks at this point. UNC is the only ACC team that can get a 1 seed. If Duke beats UNC tonight, the PAC 12 tournament champ likely gets the 1 seed in the South with UNC being the 2 seed.

@jaybate-1.0 Self doesn't put much, if any emphasis on the Big 12 tournament. He keeps everything pretty vanilla both offensively and defensively and if KU wins, awesome, but if not, he doesn't care.

Just watch his post game conferences after Big 12 tournament losses like yesterday and a few years back when Baylor beat us in the 1st round. His tone and attitude is nowhere near the same as it is for a regular season loss.

As for seeding, KU likely lost out on the overall 1 seed, which doesn't really matter as much now since the NCAA tournament doesn't use tte S-curve for placement anymore. KU wilp still get to be in Tulsa and still in KC which is more important and Louisville losing yesterday also means KU now likely gets Kentucky or the PAC 12 tournament runner up as their 2 seed which is a better potential Elite 8 match up than Louisville would've been.

Don't let this happen Big 12 • Mar 10, 2017 04:17 AM

San Antonio would always be a fun destination for a Big 12 tournament, but we have bill similar to the HB2 bill that North Carolina passed working its way to legislature that has already gotten comments from the NCAA and NFL about not have not awarding any future Final Four's or Super Bowls to Texas anymore. That would eliminate 3 Final Four venues and 2 Super Bowl locations.

I'd personally love to see the Big 12 tournament come to Houston at Toyota Center, but the SWAC currently has their tournament there, but I imagine the Big 12 could force that tournament up a week if the ever really wanted to have their tournament in Houston which I don't realistically see happening anytime in the near or distant future.

KU Penalized #3 OVERALL Seed • Mar 10, 2017 04:10 AM

What I do think that happened today that is of relevance to KU is Duke beating Louisville. Just about everyone had Louisville as KU's 2 seed, but their loss today to Duke may very well have bumped them down to the 3 line and opened the door for 2 PAC 12 teams to be on the 2 line (Oregon and the UCLA/Arizona winner) and also potentially put Kentucky as our 2 seed in the Midwest should they win the SEC tournament.

KU Penalized #3 OVERALL Seed • Mar 10, 2017 03:56 AM

If Nova and UNC win their tournaments, KU probably does end up as the 3rd overall seed ahead of Gonzaga. Should one or both of Nova and UNC lose, then KU ends up ahead of those teams. Bottom line is that KU will be the 1 seed in the MIdwest 3 days from now and will have a Tulsa/KC path to get to Phoenix.

How a 16 defeats a 1 • Mar 10, 2017 02:50 AM

@BShark He's always much more relaxed and mellow during conference tournaments and houmds the refs much less than. If Self doesn't value the Big 12 tournament, why should we?

@truehawk93 3rd overall seed behind Nova and UNC. That's still a 1 seed in the Midwest for KU which means a Tulsa-KC to get to Phoenix.

How a 16 defeats a 1 • Mar 10, 2017 02:43 AM

@DCHawker They were playing without Jackson today and Self has never cared much about winning the B12 tournament. There's a reason why is winning % in this tournament is anything worth bragging about.

KU will still be a 1 seed, just not the overall 1 seed, and KU will still be in Tulsa and KC.

How a 16 defeats a 1 • Mar 10, 2017 02:08 AM

TCU is significantly better than any 16 seed KU will face. Whatever league KU's 16 seed comes out of, TCU is good enough to go undefeated in that league.

Big 12 Tournament of tears • Mar 10, 2017 02:07 AM

I really don't care that KU lost today. That's potentially 2 extra games of wear and tear with a 7 man rotation KU doesn't have to deal with. KU may not end up the overall 1 seed, but I don't care because KU will still be a 1 seed in the Midwest which means a path through Tulsa and KC which is more important anyway. When you get to the Elite 8 level, it's generally a top 10 caliber team as an opponent at that point anyway. I'd rather have the 2 extra days to rest up and let the nagging injuries have a chance to recuperate some.

From jay Bilas • Mar 07, 2017 01:24 AM

This clown has no idea what goes into a Title IX investigation. As Bilas said, Title IX investigations are done in secrecy so there absolutely could be one going on right now and we just wouldn't know because nobody is allowed to comment on Title IX investigations.

Post season uni's • Mar 07, 2017 01:11 AM

These look pretty much like the same uniforms KU wore last year in the tournament as well.

Contender or Pretender? • Mar 07, 2017 12:02 AM

Lunardi is an average at best bracketologist.

One of Yahoo's writers (not Pat Forde) suggested WSU should end up a 6 or 7 seed to balance out their weak resume with the advanced metrics that have WSU as a top 15-20 team. I think this is a pretty fair placement for them.

Kim Anderson already out at fizzou • Mar 06, 2017 03:31 AM

I think Martin is their top choice and he's actively trying to leave Cal right now. Not sure why anyone would want Martin at this point because he did the same thing at Tennessee. A job hopper, and not even a upward job hopper at that, is not a great reputation to have unless you're considered an all time great coach like Larry Brown is. Come to rh8nk about it, those two deserve each other. Martin can continue underachieving and Missouri can get a guy who will bail in a few years for his next opportunity.

As for Dooley, the southeast is his general area of connections so I think he do some good things at NC State of the Wolfpack wanna go in that direction. Could probably even schedule a home and home with KU of Dooley wanted to and have KU show up on Tobacco Road.

Non-KU games • Mar 06, 2017 12:48 AM

Dooley should be getting some looks from bigger programs after this year. 4 years at FGCU, 2 regular season titles, 2 tournament titles, 21+ wins every year, and finished 2nd or better in the A-Sun all 4 years.

@JayHawkFanToo Norm only stumbled onto Embiid because of KU's pursuit of Chris Walker. Embiid was sub 100 when he signed at KU, and rose in the rankings AFTER he signed.

You can disagree all you want, but I offered no little opinion and mostly fact. Embiid was sub 100 by just about everyone prior to the final release of rankings which all generally happen in March/April. He did not jump up until the end. Most sites did have him in the 20's-30's when their final rankings came out. While most people did project him to be very good, most (including Fran) did not project him to be OAD. Anyone who knew what they were talking about projected Embiid as a 2 year guy.

2 years ago, Svi was considered KU's best pro prospect, look how that one turned out. Experts can miss on tye speed of a player's development and everyone underestimated the speed of Embiid's development.

@JayHawkFanToo Embiid was sub 100 by most sites until the final rankings came out and even then, most had him as a low 5 star, high 4 star guy that would be around multiple years. Embiid developed much quicker than anyone ever imagined he would develop.
