New Mexico St. over ACU by 14 to win the WAC.
@StLJhawk said in Non-KU Games:
They look really big and tough, wouldn’t want to play them outside of a final four
We won't. They're going to be the 1 seed in the South region and KU will be the 1 seed in the Midwest region.
Arizona wins the Pac 12 and have probably locked themselves in as the overall #2 seed and will likely be the 1 seed in the South region. Also, A&M-CC over SE Louisiana for the Southland title.
Other games in action right now, UCLA leads Arizona in the 2nd half of the Pac 12 title game, A&M-CC leads SELA in the Southland title game in the 2nd half and NMSU leads ACU in the 1st half of the WAC title game with the Big West game yet to tip.
Updates on other games so far today. Akron by 20 over Kent St. in the MAC title game. Montana St. by 21 over Northern Colorado in the Big Sky. St. Peter's over Monmouth by 6 in the MAAC title game. Boise St. by 1 over San Diego St. in the MWC title game. Texas Southern by 15 over Alcorn St. in the SWAC. Villanova by 6 over Creighton in the Big East title game. Virginia Tech by 15 over Duke in the ACC title game. UAB is going to beat Louisiana Tech in the C-USA title game.
UCLA up 5 at halftime against Arizona in the Pac 12 finals.

Assuming The Vols close this out, you really might see a Baylor and KU 1 seed…
If Tennessee hangs on, the 4th 1 seed is likely either Baylor or Duke.

Maybe he spends a year in the studio rehabbing his image?
Rick Pitino gets a P5 job this off-season too yea?
Pitino just signed what amounts to a lifetime deal at Iona and will be 70 when next season begins. He also already turned down the Maryland job which is probably going to be one of the 2 or 3 best jobs open this season so I don't he's headed back to a P5 job.
Tennessee is looking good today. A Vols win would likely lock KU in as the 1 seed in the Midwest and get to play in KU friendly Chicago. I'm still holding put hope for San Antonio, but don't think an Arizona loss to UCLA bumps Arizona out of San Antonio.
Norfolk St. knocked off Coppin St. in the MEAC title game so we won't get to see tge first ever 20 loss NCAA Tournament team this year.
Looks like Texas A&M is may pull off another upset as they lead Arkansas by 17 with 5 minutes left.
@Jethro said in Non-KU Games:
@Texas-Hawk-10 And we jump Auburn and Baylor with a win tonight on the way to a 1 seed. Bracketville already has Tucky and us at 1 seeds:
Overall seeding matters because that determines which region we play in. Gonzaga will be the overall 1 seed and be in the west region. Arizona is likely to be the overall 2 seed with their win over Colorado last night which would lock them into the south regional in San Antonio, which is likely what KU's preferred destination would be. Based on selection committee comments, Kentucky is likely to be seeded ahead of Kansas due that ass whopping they gave us in January so if both KU and Kentucky win their conference tournaments, Kentucky is likely to be the #3 overall seed and get placed in Chicago over KU who would likely end up as the #4 overall seed and shipped out the East regional in Philly. That would be a terrible draw for KU as it would likely mean being in the same region as Duke and Villanova with Villanova getting to play S16 and E8 games on their off-campus home floor.
I'd much rather end up in San Antonio or Chicago than Philly, but Philly is looking like the most likely destination for KU at this time. KU needs Tennessee to win today so KU can end up in Chicago where KU would likely get Iowa as a 4 seed which is a great match up for Kansas and Purdue as a 2/3 seed which is also a very good match up for KU.
Vermont beat the hell out of UMBC winning the America East title by 39 points 82-43.

Is there a consensus on Ochai's dunk now being the best KU dunk in Big 12 tournament history over Selden's?
Och’s one-hander was amazing, but I think Fran and Musburger’s reaction to Selden’s dunk plus the trail of bodies left in his wake plus uncle Flava Selden’s facial expressions keep that one at the top of the list for me.
, Wright St. (Horizon), Jacksonville St. (ASUN), and Delaware (Colonial).
Wright St. came back from a 16 point deficit in the 2nd half to beat Northern Kentucky in the Horizon League title game.
In the ASUN title game, Bellarmine beat Jacksonville, but because Bellarmine is still in their transition stage to D1, they are still ineligible for the NCAA Tournament. That means that the ASUN's automatic bid goes to their regular season champs Jacksonville St. who lost to Jacksonville in the semifinals.
Tomorrow, there will be 6 more bids given out from the ASUN, NEC, Colonial, WCC, Summit, and Horizon leagues.
Silvio is going dancing as UT-Chattanooga won the SoCon on a 35' buzzer beater in OT. Also, Georgia St. beat Louisiana to win the Sun Belt title.
Brandon Schneider was named the Big 12 COY.
Tonight there are 2 more bids on the line. Former Jayhawk Silvio DeSousa and the UT-Chattanooga Mocs host Furman in the SoCon title game and Louisiana and Georgia St. play in the Sun Belt title game.

I feel good about the big 12 tourney. To beat Texas with a beat up cold Och, was pretty courageous from the rest of the team, especially after 4 games in 7 days. Hopefully we have a big crowd there.
I honestly don't care about the B12 tournament and I don't think Self does either. I only care about winning a game in the tournament if we get KSU first. I don't care if we lose to Texas or TCU in the semifinals and hope Self focuses more on resting McCormack and Agbaji in KC rather than trying to win the tournament.

@Texas-Hawk-10 TT beat Baylor twice
I know, but the reason I'd give the nod to Otzelberger over Adms is it's more impressive to me to take a team that went 2-22 the year before to 20-11 and making the NCAA Tournament in his first year than taking an already good team that made the tournament last year and moving up the standings some.

I probably would've voted adams
Adams would've been my second choice.

I wouldn't think we'd bring in a coach just to coach post season. Wouldn't we have the ast. Guys that have been with the team the whole time? Makes sense. I don't know if Danny is just a temp this yr, and if he would just volunteer and hang out with us all yr as an extra. We can only have so many, right?
It wouldn't make sense to bring an outside coach in because they wouldn't know the personnel or calls for the season.

I'm surprised Courtney Ramey didn't make the All Defensive Team. I also would've voted for TJ Otzelberger for COY.

@jayballer67 Bleacher Report is the only somewhat reputable place that has Braun anywhere close to a top 20 pick. Just about anywhere else that has Braun listed at this point that I'm aware of is either in second round or 2023 1st round. Jonathan Givony of ESPN, formerly NBA Express, is generally considered the best NBA draft projection guy out there and he has Braun as an early 2nd round pick.
Christian Braun projects as a 2 guard at the NBA level so the things he's going to have to improve to boost his stock is his shooting (being more consistent), his decision making (too many bad turnovers from bad decisions), and show he can guard smaller, quicker players. Those aren't physical tools that can be added with time in the gym, these are things that have to be shown on the court amd of Braun comes back next season, KU will be his team because he'll be the lone senior in the rotation. With a lot of younger players in the rotation next year, it'll demonstrate other intangibles that can boost his stock as well.
Injury will always be a risk, but this isn't a case of Braun being a near finished product that needs refinement and can do that in the NBA/G-League, Braun still has a lot to prove and coming back will help his pro prospects a lot more in the long run than leaving this season.
Loyola-Chicago is going to hang on and won the MVC to be the third team to officially make the NCAA Tournament.
Drake and Loyola-Chicago going down to the wire.
On the women's side, Kentucky hit a 3 with under 5 seconds left to shock South Carolina and win the SEC Tournament.

CB will be back barring a drastic change. Jalen was set to be gone but as mentioned before it is more up in the air now.
Therre was an NBA scout I was hearing after the game and this scout was saying that CB was on A LOT of NBA teams Radar - projected as high sa 17th - Yet he said having said that - CB needs to come back
There's a big difference between being on the NBA's radar and being an NBA prospect. Christian Braun should absolutely be on the NBA's radar and should declare for the draft and go through that process to get the feedback from the NBA on what he needs to improve in their eyes.
If Braun can make the same leap Ochai did and play like he did in December for an entire season, then he'll make the same leap Ochai did from someone NBA teams have been keeping an eye on to someone who's likely going to be drafted.
Longwood ended up winning by 21. Loyola-Chicago is up 2 on Drake at halftime of the Missouri Valley title game.
