We need rebounds, why the hell is KJ out there? It's been about a month since he got a rebound.

@justanotherfan

A bit unlucky too since he redshirted half a year and missed the 2020 post season. There's no telling how many points he'd have under slightly different outcomes

Ochai missed 14 games due to redshirting and averaged 8.5 ppg that year so probably somewhere around 120 points from his freshman year and he missed up to 9 games 2 years ago averaging 10 ppg. So ballpark would probably be around 200 more points if Ochai played a full slate each of his first 2 seasons.

Those extra games could've had Ochai challenging Frank Mason and Sherron Collins to be in the top 5 all time scorers at KU.

@benshawks08 Stop trying to make excuses for Yesufu. You just said he's at his best at the 2 and then talked about not being used to playing with Remy and Mitch? Who do you think he's playing with on the 2nd unit in practice? He's spent more time playing with those two than he has with the starters so that's a weak excuse on your part. Yesufu rarely gets extended minutes because he doesn't know what he's doing on tge floor most of the regardless if he's running with the 1's or 2's.

Can someone please show me hard evidence that Yesufu is actually consistently a good defender at the Big 12 level instead of just talking about his athleticism giving him the abilityto stay in front of defenders because Yesufu gets blown by on the regular. There's a reason advanced numbers have Yesufu as one of KU's worst overall players this year.

He's an inconsistent player at best and doesn't offer near the ceiling that Remy does which is why Self wants to get Remy going.

@BeddieKU23 said in Wackos at Waco Game Thread:

I'm on record with I didn't want him back and it certainly messed with Yesufu that he was back. That was noticeable

It didn't mess with Yesufu. Remy being back had nothing to with Yesufu still not understanding how to guard in Self's defense. It may not have visible on TV, but there were multiple times in Yesufu's limited minutes that he was badly out of position on defense and had to have others point to where he should've been. Same on offense as well. He was in Ochai's spot several times and had Ochai and Harris having to direct him where to be on the floor on offense.

I know people want to shit on Remy for his flaws and give Yesufu a pass, but Yesufu still doesn't know the system well enough on either end to be given extended minutes and isn't a good enough player to overcome not knowing the offense or defense yet. People here generally accept it takes multiple years for a PG to learn and operate Self's system at a reasonably high level. Harris is in his third year running the system whereas Remy and Yesufu are each in their first year.

Remy has been a bust here, no question about that, but I'll never understand why people think Yesufu was going to come in and duplicate his two best games at Drake on a nightly basis while ignoring that he wasn't a starter until an injury, and was an inconsistently high volume shooter who had quite a few games last year where he took more shots than he had points.

so help me understand - - we went from wishing/wanting to be able to get Remy back - to Remy costing us the game. - - Got it.

Remy didn't cost KU this game. Jalen Wilson playing 38 minutes with his head up his ass was the biggest culprit tonight.

All the confidence I had gained in this team since Feb. 1 went out the window tonight.

Last 26 minutes with Remy on the floor we are -29.

One week to figure this shit out.

Remy Martin wasn't the issue tonight. Thamba, Sochan, and Brown killed KU for 44 points, almost all of them in the paint and drew a crap ton of fouls on KU. Jalen Wilson was fucking terrible tonight and should not have played 38 minutes. Wilson needs to learn how to defend the pick and roll in a hurry because he left his teammates out to dry way too many times by leaving the roller and forcing the help defender to be the only guy defending one of their bigs rolling to the basket.

@Jethro said in Wackos at Waco Game Thread:

hey, if you would've told me were up by 1 at half before the game,i woulda taken it. Let's get to running offense in the 2nd half, and start punishing them inside.

That's what killed the lead. KU needs to push tempo as much as possible like they did to start the game and built their 13 point lead.

Wackos at Waco Game Thread • Feb 27, 2022 01:35 AM

As good as KU was the first 10 minutes, they were that bad the second 10. Rebounding margin almost even now after KU had a huge advantage to start the game. Baylor still hasn't made a 3 yet tonight.

He claims this and that but his spiel on NATO is false.

That's why I said that's what Putin claims NATO told Gorbachev. It doesn't change that Putin is pissed about former Soviet nations joining NATO and wants NATO to return to its pre-1997 membership because Putin wants to reform the Soviet Union.

It's About To Go Down • Feb 26, 2022 01:53 AM

For anyone that thinks this situation will give China thoughts of of invading Taiwan, that's not going to happen. The second China attempts to move on Taiwan, Japan and the US would destroy Jinping and his forces. China's only advantage would be their numbers, but the US and Japan are both vastly technologically superior to the Chinese military.

It's About To Go Down • Feb 25, 2022 11:25 PM

Putin wants to reform the Soviet Union. His comments over recent years make that pretty clear.

Putin's still pissed about Russian ally Yanukovych being booted out of power in Ukraine in 2014 and pissed that a former close ally nation has been getting friendlier with the EU and NATO. Putin claims that NATO said about 30 years ago they wouldn't expand membership and that he want NATO to return to its pre 1997 membership. Since 1997, there have been 14 new members almost doubling the number of NATO members and all 14 members are former Soviet controlled lands.

I agree with this so much. Any player that's getting however small a sniff from the NBA should test the waters and go through the draft process as much as possible. There is nothing but positive things that can happen for a player if they go through the process, even if they know they're returning to school. The feedback from the NBA gives players specific target to work towards in the off-season in how to get better

College GameDay History • Feb 22, 2022 12:10 AM

KU will be featured for the second time this season College GameDay this Saturday in Waco.

Here is some history about the college basketball version of GameDay. ESPN began running College GameDay for basketball in January of 2005. The first game they did was Pitt at UConn. The second week was Texas at Kansas when Kansas spanked Texas by 25 points. The following year, Texas hosted GameDay for the KU game and returned the favor by spanking KU by 25 themselves.

Overall, KU has been part of 23 GameDay broadcasts which is good for 3rd all time behind Duke and North Carolina who are currently at 25 appearances each. These numbers do not include the final two weekends this season so all threeteams will go up by 1 over the next two weeks. Those are also the only 2 schools to have hosted GameDay more frequently than KU has with Duke and UNC currently at 11 times hosting, while KU has hosted 10 times including once this season. Duke will be at 12 after the March 5 game.

KU has an all time record of 16-7 when apart of GameDay which is the 3rd best winning percentage among schools with 5+ appearances. Syracuse is 5-1 all time and Florida is 7-2 all time on GameDay games. KU's 16 wins are also the most wins by any school when involved with College GameDay in basketball. KU is also one of 3 schools, along with UNC and Kentucky to be involved in GameDay in consecutive weeks. In 2018, KU hosted West Virginia and went to Texas Tech the next week. Kentucky is the only school to be involved in consecutive weeks twice in 2017 and 2018. UNC was the first to do so in 2016.

6 schools have made double appearances on GameDay: Duke (25), UNC (25), Kansas (23), Kentucky (20), Michigan State (10), Texas (10).

It should be no surprise what the most frequent match up on College GameDay is as it's Duke and UNC at 16 times after next week. Florida/Kentucky is the second most common match up at 8 times, while there are 3 match ups that have been featured 4 times each. Arizona/UCLA, Kansas/Kentucky, and Kansas/Texas. The KU/KSU game has hosted 3 times. This will be the 2nd time KU and Baylor have played on GameDay and Baylor's 3rd appearance overall and are 0-2 in their first two appearances.

Here's the list of KU's College GameDay appearances:
