Big time salute to Dotson tonight on the D he played on Brown. He completely shut him down and took him out of the game. Big time effort from Devon.
Self is playing with fire with this lineup

Send a fresh Ochai out there to finish them off, Bill.
He should be fresh seeing as he’s been invisible all game
It amazes me how Q can look so confident on some shots and then throw up a uncontested airball on another. I don’t remember a player having swings like that in one game.

Uhoh. Wild line-up time.
This lineup makes me very nervous
Nice pass Q. Great finish Dedric.
Woodrow said:
Damn it. Bad shot Dedric.
Then they hit two 3’s. Dedric has to be more patient.
Damn it. Bad shot Dedric.

Let's go foot on throat, run them out of this building damn it!
Yes. Gotta keep it going!
My goodness Mitch!
KU only had 2 fouls that half. You know that is going to change. Need to come out and not let them get it tied it take the lead. Stretch it to double figures before the under 16 timeout.
Have to get a better shot than that Dotson
Huge shot by Stokes
@DanR 4-12 from 3
Second game in a row with nothing from Ochai too. Need him to get going.
So Q hits a couple shots and has some confidence going and then Self sits him for 5-7 minutes so far. His substitutions have Ben questionable at best so far.
Self is sitting Dedric way too long
Mitch is playing out of his mind!
Why is Self sticking with this lineup?
Charlie with the hero ball run killer.
Edit: Play Mitch the rest of the game. He can’t come out.
What is this lineup.?!!
Atta Boy Mitch!
Wish Grimes would have made that second 3 but you can see the extra energy he has just from making that first one .
This is a Mitch game. He needs to play 25 minutes. No time for Dave.
Dave can’t even hand it off. Come on
This team is tight AF
@BShark most years I wouldn’t worry about it, but this years team is a different story.
Well I’m a littler nervous for this one. Hope the boys come out juiced up and ready to roll from the get go.
@BShark In your original post were you talking about hypothetically next year if Self is fired or just in general when Self is done @ KU??
That changes the conversation drastically.
@HighEliteMajor My thought is that the Texas job is going to open before the KU job and I think if Beard was at Texas he would not be a lock to come too KU.
Everything that I have read about him is that he is a Texas guy and loves the state / wants to coach in the state. Obviously a school like KU calls you listen.
There are so many variables here. If Self is fired because of the FBI crap then that is going to tarnish the job a little IMO.
It is going to take a special person to want to follow Self. I mean just look at this board right now when we are 20-7 and going to be a 3-5 seed in the tournament.

If Shaka can sneak into the tournament, He is prob given time til the arena is built. Which I'm not sure has even been started yet.
Even if that is the case Beard is from Texas. So he is comfortable at Texas Tech. I just don't see him jumping at some other job because it is perceived to be better.
I would be surprised if Beard doesn't end up at Texas. Shaka is a wounded duck and I can't see him lasting much longer. They are building a new fancy arena and you have to think they are going to want to generate some buzz.
Anyways, sorry to derail the thread.
Precious is in town so let's hope we get a W tonight and Self knocks it out of the park with him.

@Woodrow Ok, we'll see. He is not that far from washing out. His PER is ranked 300th out of 388 players who have played in 20 or more games so far this season. He is 226th out of 266 players who have played 750 or more minutes this season. He is 250th out of those same 266 players in True Shooting Percentage. He is a 3 and D wing with no 3. I very much see him ending up overseas without improvement.
But whatever, it doesn't matter. He was the 4th pick in the draft and he is unlikely to get meaningful minutes anywhere after his stint with the Suns. And even if I count him as a "hit," it's semantics at this point. It barely changes the list. All I was trying to do was put this out there visually. We can nitpick my list all we want, but Bill has not had the success that the other two have had with guys who had OAD potential coming into college. It is the perception, even if the recruits we have landed aren't the same caliber as some of these others for Duke or UK.
All I'm trying to say, I can see why a recruit and their family would pick UK or Duke over KU if their child has a shot at being a OAD player.
I agree with that! I was never arguing that Self is even close when it comes to those other two programs when it comes to OAD.
I was simply saying that Cal gets the benefit of the doubt most of the time because of the Wall, Cousins, AD, of the world. He doesn't have very many TRob, Withey, Tyshawn, Frank, Graham players.
He isn't some world beater when it comes to developing players.

@Woodrow The Suns will not be giving JJ a 2nd contract. It's almost guaranteed at this point.
You said he would not be getting a second contract. Insinuating he will be out of the league when his first one runs out. The Suns might not sign him and if he was smart he wouldn't resign with that dumpster fire, but he will sign a second contract with a team.
LOL @ Josh not getting a second contract. Come on.
I would imagine it will get a ton of press. Miller is a big time fish in this. Highest profile coach on the West Coast.
@Kcmatt7 Why is Josh a bust and MKG a "hit. Go look at their stats. Then Oubre being a hit has nothing to do with Self? You are trying WAY too hard to make your point.
Also, I am not arguing that Self is on par with K and Cal just that Cal's record is overstated because he landed can't miss guys.

@Crimsonorblue22 It doesn't matter what Grimes would have done with the other two. It only matters what he has done under Self and the stigma that comes with it. Along with Cliff, Diallo, Selby, Henry and really just most of the OADs we've had. It is just the current perception, and it's hard to argue with.
Yeah, fair or not this is what the view is.
And there was an article today on the Athletic slobbering all over Calipari and how players improve massively under him.
I have not read the article, but I find that amusing. PJ Washington has been incredible this year and I would assume that is mainly what the article is about, but besides the Wall, AD, Cousins type players who has gone to UK and blown up and gotten so much better. I am sure there are a few, but what about the Harrison Twins, Dakari Johnson, Marcus Lee, Trey Lyles, Weynen Gabriel, Sasha Jones, etc...
I feel like Cal gets a pass because of all of the top end talent he gets that are going to be great no matter where they go.
Maybe that is just my perception. He has had a lot more bust then people realize I guess is my point.
Evan Daniels put a CB pick in of Duke for Hurt today...

I don't want to think about the conference at this point just want to think about winning tonight. KSU hasn't swept us in a regular season series since 1983, we will find out a ton about this team tonight with how they respond to the beat down they just got.
This is where I am at. In order to have a chance to share the title this team would have to win two road games. The same amount they have won all season!
If this team has any heart and fight in them tonight should be there best game of the season.
Good job , good effort little Jayhawks.
That was the definition of getting punk’d

Texas with a bad loss to OU, TCU pulls it off and very tight late in Waco. B12 is a very competitive conference and probably the best to watch.
Not sure how it’s a bad loss. No Roach for Texas and OU was favored by 5-6.
Kentucky is pretty damn good. Might end up with a 1 seed.
I wonder if this is the biggest underdog Self has been in a conference game. Right now TT is -6.
I don’t remember them ever being that big of one.
Looks like the staff is also recruiting Harlond Beverly a teammate of Precious. 6’4 guard. Looks like a top 75 player. First I’ve heard of him.
This is Precious first OV right? That has to mean something. He has been pretty tight lipped about everything so I would take this as a positive that he is coming.
AFH should be unreal Monday night. Hope the visit goes well.
Precious is taking an OV this weekend??
Was this known before now? Just saw it reported...
That was a great game to watch. Back and forth in the second half. Both teams making big shots and Baylor never got rattled or backed down. Big time win for Drew and Baylor.
