UNLV - Any Bets? • Sep 14, 2024 02:12 AM

Just crazy, this is the same kid that threw 18 TDs and 4 Interceptions his sophomore year.

UNLV - Any Bets? • Sep 14, 2024 02:10 AM

Why does JD have 3 TDs and 6 ints this year? What the hell has changed?

UNLV - Any Bets? • Sep 14, 2024 12:08 AM

The "crap on Trump" thread • Sep 13, 2024 12:26 PM

I think the job requirements have changed over time for politicians.

At one point they may have been:
“Represent the will of most of your people, even if it goes against your own will. Within limits of course. Dont be crazy, this is a representative democracy for a reason. “

Now its more like:
“Be crazy and contentious, because that gets picked up by the media and people have been conditioned to expect it. Secretly, do whatever special interest groups want because they pay the bills”.

Then someone comes along who is more like:
“I’m naturally crazy and contentious. People love me! Oh my God, I’m the GOAT President! Dafuq does a President do anyway? Ez. Run, spot, run” and people who vote for his party have already been conditioned to agree that he is the GOAT, because the system was set up to embrace crazy contentious politicians.

Unfortunately the swamp we have in Washington is in fact a systemic problem which Trump is a poster child for, not an outsider. We have a cult of personality that the masses have been conditioned to embrace, and then backroom dealings to fund it. Nowhere is this actually set up to move us in a positive direction. If that happens in any respect, its happy coincidence.

Kamala humiliating Trump in a debate had to be done. That is what sells. At least, that is what the media outlets are selling. Im curious how much more contentious it can get, and will we see a return to civility once DT is done? Is there any future state where civility sells? Can we make being rational cool? Can we make it sexy? Can we make it fun?

These questions are at the core of determining what the American soul looks like going forward.

I didnt really watch the New Zealand game. The previous game, I wasnt that down on our play to be honest. I saw us play much directly/vertically than ever under Berhalter and I think we will need some of that to unlock the potential we have. It never felt like we were out of the game. It would have felt over with Bethalter with 20 to go as he salted away our chances.

I remain extremely optimistic. Trust in Poch and give him time. I think we will see many different players get looks as he sorts out what he has.

New chapter starts….. NOW!

Shakeel Moore with a broken foot. • Sep 12, 2024 12:12 AM

That being said, Elmarko and Furphy would have had the biggest growth potential so :man_shrugging: maybe its somewhat the team too.

Shakeel Moore with a broken foot. • Sep 12, 2024 12:11 AM

I think its remarkable how much we return this year and it seems a symptom of the age rather than this specific team that people are feeling disinterested.

I wouldnt be shocked to see Jamari earn some minutes. @BShark survey says…..?

The "crap on Trump" thread • Sep 11, 2024 08:15 PM

I mean, anyone who watched that debate saw an old, confused and self-important man getting run in circles by a coherent woman. The optics were so consistently bad for Trump throughout the debate that there is very little room for creative interpretation. Thats really bad.

I really cant see how anyone who says Biden is unfit for the office can turn around and say Trump is. Theyre both too old, personality or agenda aside.

Other Football Games of Interest • Sep 09, 2024 06:00 PM

@Kcmatt7 i was sure JD wasnt going to get the pass offf. At that point the last thing in the world he wanted was to air it out with everyone expecting it.

@rockchalkjayhawk did you watch the match against Canada?

Let’s talk Illinois • Sep 08, 2024 06:29 PM

But seriously, is qb going to be a position battle?

Wow our defense though.

Jared Casey caught a pass (yay)

Let’s talk Illinois • Sep 08, 2024 12:09 AM

Wow. Well, hopefully thats rock bottom for JD and he bounces back.

Let’s talk Illinois • Sep 08, 2024 12:04 AM

Oof

As someone who has watched Avatar closely three times and Kipo twice, but not as closely, I am starting to warm up to the idea that maybe Kipo is closer than I initially thought. There are some elements it does very, very well.

Wondering if anyone else has an opinion.

The Yankees • Aug 24, 2024 11:48 PM

Or I will hijack this thread and talk about the Orioles. Lol. I went to see them last Sunday. Beat the Sox.

The Yankees • Aug 24, 2024 11:47 PM

@jayballer67 lol that cracked me up. I havent kept up with MLB much, but I will try to respond if you post something about the Yankees if no one else bites.

@mayjay the situation scares me more than the people. Make it easy to be good, and the people will be good.

The "crap on Trump" thread • Aug 22, 2024 08:03 PM

@nuleafjhawk well. Luckily his genuine worshippers
are a smaller subset of the people who voted for him.

The "crap on Trump" thread • Aug 22, 2024 03:23 AM

Obama alluding to Trump’s “weird obsession with crowd sizes” :eggplant: :ok_hand: was classic. Also referred to his childish name calling and Trump torpedoing the bipartisan border bill for personal gain.

Its historically been difficult for Trump to act dignified and when he blows his top the democrats will be right there to remind everyone how weird he is.

Im curious what tack he can/will take here.

Comparing KJ Adams and AJ Storr • Aug 18, 2024 01:28 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10 other than the Lawson year 2018 when Kansas was 41st adjD on kenpom, Kansas has been top 25 for the last decade.

That team lacked the athleticism this team will have, i think. Will certainly be interesting.

Seventeen Days - - - GO TIME • Aug 17, 2024 04:26 PM

@jayballer67 def a bad place to be as a coach: in a competitive conference with a mediocre team and every other team in the conference still circling the date they play you.

Need Games To Start • Aug 16, 2024 08:33 PM

@drgnslayr Im not a big Harden fan but have to give him credit for pushing the limits of what can be done there as a shooter. a big guard with a consistent shot can be practically unguardable.

The "crap on Trump" thread • Aug 16, 2024 01:25 PM

@FarmerJayhawk interesting thread you revived, rereading my earlier comments i see someone else. More passion, more anxiety, far less chill. Maybe a few more braincells, maybe less heart.

Did we talk about the Mayo Neal connection? https://amp.kansascity.com/sports/college/big-12/university-of-kansas/article287341140.html ↗

Have we discussed playing Badunga with Hunter enough? Still think its going to happen.

I like the sound of this:

Moore was a part of three-consecutive state championship teams in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Harris helped lead the team to two straight Missouri 5A state championship game appearances, finishing runner up in 2018 and winning in 2019.
“Being a 5-9 kid from the middle of nowhere New Jersey ... I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to play one more year. It’s a very good team. We’re very good players, so everything is going to have to be earned,” Coit said.

While with Lawrence High, Mayo became the first Chesty Lion ever to receive the male DiRenna Award for the Kansas City area’s best high school basketball player. He was also a two-time Journal-World All-Area player of the year before embarking on his career at SDSU.

Coit said he picked a school with “transparency and integrity. That was the main thing I’m trying to live by, just morals and standards. I wanted to play for a coach (Bill Self) that lives off of that as well. So the school I committed to (KU), they were kind of upfront from the get-go about me being able to play my game but also being able to compete. ... I’m not going there with them saying, ‘You are starting,’ or ‘You’ve got the ball.’”

Tim Walz • Aug 10, 2024 02:28 AM

@wissox :hundred_points:

Tim Walz • Aug 09, 2024 11:23 PM

@wissox I vowed not to vote for Biden after his first debate, unless my state was close. Not sure now, but at the time that seemed viable. I think statement votes for third party / write in candidates show viability, not a throw away.

Tim Walz • Aug 09, 2024 02:51 PM

@benshawks08 all good, trying to keep us on the rails since I introduced this topic :) i knew what you were getting at but we live in a world where everything can escalate to a personal affront with silly speed, so i think qualifying statements / explicating nuances is a positive formality.

Tim Walz • Aug 09, 2024 02:22 PM

@benshawks08 interesting fact about sponsoring GSA when asked, didnt know, thanks for sharing. Another early sign pointing to “good dude”.

I do think thats a slight mischaracterization of @FarmerJayhawk ‘s beliefs. Im sure he believes that there are people on the right that get into politics to make a positive difference, but everyones definitions of “helping people” differs.

Tim Walz • Aug 09, 2024 04:39 AM

if that hate speech incites hate crimes thats a problem that needs addressing.

Its very hard to say where and how though.

I think the fact Walz was not prescriptive should indicate he realizes that. Trump refers to taking peoples rights away all the time, at least in Walz’ case it was in the context of benefiting someone other than himself.

Im not saying its correct and i see your point, but i dont think its very bad what he said,
and i think the underlying problem of voter suppression and deliberate spreading
Of misinformation regarding voting procedures is
worth addressing and does fall into fraud but in reality maybe isnt prosecuted presently.

Tim Walz • Aug 09, 2024 04:36 AM

This sounds like a matter of identifying how aggressively we should define certain acts as fraud and how aggressively we should prosecute it. I get scam calls all the time. Beyond fed up with it. If it was something they would catch a rap for they wouldnt do it.
