Don't other jobs require a college degree? I'm not sure how it could be a constitutionally protected right to play professional basketball at age 18 or 19 or 20?
I really wish the Royals had paid someone other than Gordon...they let the wrong guys get away. But at least they tried to keep their own player instead of just throwing up their hands like in the past. Baby steps.
Must...not...feed...the...troll...
He's old.
As far as not being able to keep all your star players? What a problem to have.
@Kcmatt7 Poe was a reach. This years second round pick is the same reach. Will it have the same result? Logan should fill in nicely for Dontari, but he's a different style of player. I think the moves the Chiefs made on draft day were dumb, but if Mahones is the man (I'm talking Farve/Rodgers/Manning/Montana)how can they be wrong? Two firsts and and third round pick for the most important position on the field is a bargain.
Other than Hunt which of the draft picks will see the field? If none pan out (it will takes a few year to know) it was a terrible draft and bye bye Dorsey. But what do I know? I wouldn't have picked work out warrior Poe. Nor would I have picked mr congeniality Hill. And who knows what next years draft will bring.
@Kcmatt7 I liked the deals initially, but looking back, the draft spots the Chiefs picked were lower than their slotted pick in most rounds. They wouldn't have had to trade up if they had held on to their own picks. It's all moot if Mahones II is the quarterback of the future. Then all the other picks are irrelevant.
I didn't realized Mo Bamba was ranked #2 overall. Awesome! Now KU has an in conference stud to pound on.
#missingBitchet #weresGalaraga #whoneedspitching
There was already a college in Baldwin. Crazy that that KU even exists given Baker was already 20 miles south.
It's hard to teach someone to be 7ft. Oh and coordinated. He'll have plenty of NBA opportunities (they draft on potiental and he's oozing potiental). I just hope he shows out in a KU uni first. A Jr. Dok/Lawson combo would be pretty sweet.
“We’re going to need Udoka, Billy, Mitch and Jack to all play big for us and give us good minutes,” Self said. “Because I anticipate us playing two bigs a lot more of the time.”
I hope to continue a yearly game with Kentucky. I hope to continue to see Duke on the schedule. I hope MSU continues to pop up on the schedule. I hope when Roy retires KU schedules UNC. I hope UCLA can stay good so it's worth starting a series with them. I hope Mizzou stays off the schedule.
@JayHawkFanToo
Oh my, that's one horrendous game! Baby Ball needs a hair cut and to learn how to facilitate.
Q from mo says hi! Something about burning town up...
A Jayhawk, a KSU Wildcat and a Mizzou Tiger find a lamp with a genie in it. He pops out and says since the three of you found me I'll give you each one wish.
The wildcat says," I wish the soil around Manhattan was the most fertile in the world." Poof it was done.
The Tiger says,"I wish for a 300ft tall wall around Columbia that no one can get in or out from." Poof it was done.
The Jayhawk says," No one can get In Or out of this wall?"
"Yes," replied the genie.
Jayhawk, "Fill it up with water."
I hope to never see them again. They tried to tank the conference and KU with it. It's not a rivalry it's a deep hatred. It's not healthy. What I want to see is ISU and/or Texas (I just don't see KSU getting that good) elevate to perennial final four caliber to push KU harder. Mizzou has died by its own hand
I thought the publications where running with Miles Bridges to be npoy. I didn't see it from the one game if msu's I watched last season, but that could be Franks fault for humbling him early.
CBS has had KU at #1 presuming Svi would return. ESPN jumped KU from #9 to #2 with the news of Svi's return. Hopefully that means lots of TV time with the hype of being a top ranked team. Keep the highlights coming and the recruits interest piqued.
I don't want to beat the kid up about it any further, I'm just leary about him. I'm not going to build a strong supporting case as I desperately want to be 100% WRONG!
@JayHawkFanToo He was found guilty enough to earn a couple years probation by the school. That's not innocent. I don't really care at this point. He's been mentioned in almost every negative article about the team. Maybe he didn't do it, but was present. Is he just weak and unable to steer people away from trouble or is he the catalyst? Not someone I want my kids hanging out with as everyone around him gets in trouble.
I appreciate the hell out of guys like Svi, Frank, Graham, etc. Guys who gave what they could on the court, took care of business in the classroom, and didn't run afoul of the law or team rules.
It takes a lot more to earn trust back than to gain it the first time around.
@Crimsonorblue22 I'm glad there was no video. Too much smoke for no fire. I hope he proves me wrong.
I think every recruit is of high moral character as soon as they sign, but some prove otherwise. I hope there is no off-court crap this year. I had enough the last few years for a lifetime.
@stoptheflop Good for you! I hate woman beaters though.
...Never heard anything like that about Svi.
Vick was way too close to every off the court problem last year (and had a serious issue the year prior) to earn my trust. A year of keeping his nose clean would sure help. Otherwise I hope he gets booted, regardless of on court production. I want players on the team I'm proud to root for.
Haters gonna hate.
@jaybate-1.0 My buddy who is an Illinios fan (and resident) isn't too high on Self either. Still has hurt feelings I suppose.
Crazy talented from top to bottom. The lowest expectations are for a former top 100 player and the Arizona Gatorade player of the year. No scrubs
Who uses Instagram anymore? Besides Svi
Best decision he could make for a possible NBA future. Euro-ball will always be an option for Svi. Glad to hear he will graduate a Jayhawk!
Try hard awards are given out in Manhattan, I believe...

I hate cancer, Ms. Rowe.
To bad it doesn't have a face with a big 'old nose on it. I'd love like hell to punch cancer in the face. Lord knows it has all of us in one way or another.
@wissox On your first post (or anyones) click the gray box that says "not watching" it will give you the option to receive notifications. It's nice to not receive every notification on some of the hopping threads like a game thread.
Svi wants to go. He'll be back though. If not there would be rumblings of Self still recruiting for this season.
Tim Tebow effect.
@JayHawkFanToo The best performing backcourt in college belonged to KU. The most talent/NBA potential belongs to UK's backcourt.
Proves the point that talented experienced players beat super talented freshmen.
@Statmachine Eh, WVU cranks it up to 11 against KU. They falter elsewhere. It's the same problem all the rest of the big12 has. they show up against KU, but can't sustain that level of intensity all season. KU has will and does show up nearly every game (occasional YMCA game) of every season. So a pre-season race turns into a blowout finish.
Abcd as in: I got kicked in the ass ball connector, dude?
@kjayhawks Carter is the balding dude for WVU? He lacks the athleticism or length to be an NBA star. He's a player that will have to earn his way on a roster.
He's a nice player, but I like our returning Graham better!
As for whether he’ll look to employ the four-guard lineup again in the near future, Self took a simple approach to answering that question.
“If we could find a 6-8 guard that could play like Josh, sure,” he said. “That would obviously change things. The reality of it is, based on our personnel the way it is today, that personnel will demand that you’ll at least play small some. And it probably will, but I’m not going into it believing that this is the way we want to play.”

Lots of KU love. Old info just interesting. Kenny Gregory is still king of the vert. at the combine. I can attest his ups were very impressive! -only dude to ever jump over me!!! (Not that I'm an athletic freak, but I am 6ft tall)

@Texas-Hawk-10 I'll be at Memorial Stadium, but inexplicably without my seat cushions for my old butt, nor any bags to carry stuff in.
KU football cant win against its' own institutional bungling.
Agreed. And good for you for going!
Yes, Kentucky's whole program gets $3.4 million and KU's whole program gets$4.2 million. Durant gets $30 million per season. I personally have never bought something of Durant's, but I've shilled out a ton from KU gear over the years. I can tell you where the better endorsement is in my household, but nationally it must be different or Nike wouldn't pay so handsomely. Apparently the whole of KU basketball is worth 1/8th of an NBA star nationally. Personally I'd trade the whole NBA for a good ham sandwich if it wouldn't have the negative effect on college ball that the NBA money going away would have.
I've only been to a handful of NBA games (saw 'Keif and Arthur in Denver two years ago) but what I've seen doesn't hold a candle to Allen Fieldhouse. We are very spoiled and lucky to have such an environment every game night! It really adds life to the game that the NBA just doesn't have. I love watching kids do something they love far more than watching the passionless money grab that is the NBA.
LeBron is good enough he shouldn't have to travel. Best in the league, no doubt about it. He's also completely unlikable as is the NBA as a whole. I had no idea the playoffs were still going on...
When does KU play next?
I'm going to miss this guy next year. See the doubt creeping into Bridges eyes?!? (No emoji for pee-puddle)!0_1495111126499_IMG_1992.PNG ↗
@mayjay
Almost got me to reply. I don't think those are the transfers referred to in the title.
@wissox In all fairness Drew was co-player of the year the season he decided to go pro as a Jr. I'd love to have a Jr. Jackson on the team in a couple of years...I doubt he'd share the award.
Ha. I half expected Scott Drew to have found his brain.
Congrats Gooden!
GM Self traded Coleby for Whitman. It looks like Whitman is more skilled, but that only leaves Udoka as the banger.
With Svi's return (hopefully!) could we see more 4-1 action next year? Or will Preston be used somewhat similar to how Sr. Ellis was used (Hybrid 4-1 labeled 3-2)? Seems unlikely that Preston won't get major minutes. Barring injury Udoka should get as many minutes as his conditioning will allow, but there isn't a true backup at the 5. Whitman seems more like a 4. Will he play nice with Preston?
Oh yeah and there's Mitch...I expect nothing from him so any production will be a welcome surprise.
Hope that means Svi is back. I'd take him any day of the week over coleby.
Colby's gone too. announced his transfer today.
Yeah and Tilmon to MU
