The committee includes several prominent black men and women, so I don’t think there is anything intentional. The current agents excluded are mostly black men. (ie Rich Paul). I think it’s just poorly thought out. And now revoked.
I find it hilarious how incompetent the committee to fix ncaa basketball is. We may not have a game to watch in 20 years at this rate.

Frank Clark and Tyrann Mathieu say hello! Juan Thornhill looks like he’ll be good by years end too. The D will look better when the starters actually play together. Not elite, probably not good, but better.
The defense will constantly be under pressure, since the other team will be pressured to put up points to stay in the contest. Mahomes might be a little hard on the D, but I’ll take it over not scoring while eating up the clock!

@HighEliteMajor most any student I know that is serious about education will accrue 1-2 semesters worth of college credit while in high school. I only needed 1/2 credit in an elective to graduate and took nothing but college (Juco) course my Sr year. My roommate graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from ku in 3 years, by putting in a year at juco + college credits in Hs. Only suckers pay the advertised price for a 4 year college degree, but maybe that’s part of the education.
@drgnslayr I get where you’re coming from, but you’ve got to take talent. I don’t hate the TAD Dotson. I expect improvement from him next season. His decision making initiating the offense should improve, as should his ability to attack the rim. I hope he’s worked on his shot, it didn’t feel like he could sustain the percentage he shot last year with a bigger sample size (like Sr Miles).
Other impact OAD/TADs - McLemore and Arthur the later of which dropped 20 in the national championship game.
You also never know who’s going to stick around like a Rush or Harrison Barnes type. Recruiting would be easy if you could just have your pick of kids, but all Bill can do is choose among the ones that want to come. @Texas-Hawk-10 I know you love all things Texas, but the Astros history is kinda pathetic. Even the lowly Royals have more World Series appearances in your defined timeframe.
Tied for 19th in World Series appearances with 2 lol. Even the Florida Marlins have won 2 World Series. A trip this year and the Aston can claim that 19th spot to themselves and another trip and they’ll tie the small market Royals for series trips.
The Astros are better than the Angels who only have 1 World Series appearance, but the other two largest market teams NY and La dodgers have 40 and 20 World Series appearances.
Underachieving doesn’t mean the Astos are horrid, they’ve just never been as good as they should’ve been -until recently. Now they’re amazing and unlike the Royals have the funds to hold on to their team.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I guess it depends upon your definition of success. The Astros didn’t even win their division from 87-96 and from 2002-2016. The market indicates they should have a blue blood level of success. I’d be flat out pissed if that was KU basketballs results.
Baseball to baseball the Yankees didn’t win their division from 83-93 and 2008-2018, but won more than one World Series also. Dodgers are the other bigger market team and they’ve have more success in their division, although not too many World Series wins of late.
I do half way expect the astros to win it all this year, so they’re coming up, but vastly underachieved more than just in the tanking years.
My Royals on the other hand have been a much more consistent cellar dweller.
@KUSTEVE As I recall you did a stint in Liberal, I’m 30 miles north in Sublette.
I’m a homer fan of sorts as well. Live in SW Kansas and I cheer for the KC Missouri Chiefs 7 hours away, KC Missouri Royals 7 hours away, true love Kansas Jayhawks 6 1/2 hours away, and occasionally the okc thunder 5 hours away. I don’t hate the Rockies 5 1/2 hours away either. If St Louis was closer I’d be a cardinals fan. Hands down the best baseball experience I’ve had (very limited experience though I’ve just visited the 3 aforementioned teams stadiums).
You can develop long term poy type guys (frank) in the same class as the number 1 recruit (Wiggins) and salvage an otherwise doomed season. It’s all about balance that is hard to obtain. You also never know when a guy will go supernova. Those non-presumed OADs are awesome, even though you lose the player - they produced at the highest level (McLemore,Embiid). Presumed OADs that don’t produce, take up minutes and leave any way are the worst (Grimes).
A roster of OADs isn’t any good. One or two on an experienced team is a great way to put them over the top.
Selden with his Freshman above/behind the head launch point turned into a nice shooter as well.
@KUSTEVE Houston is the 4th largest TV market. The Astros should do better than they historically have, but man are they good now.

Army converted 31 of 35!!! Forth down attempts last season. They used 3rd down to set up short 4th downs and frustrated/wore out their opponents on way to an 11 win season. With the running backs Kansas has this season. And the poor kicking game, why punt? I’d love to see KU put themselves in 3rd/4th down and short positions instead of throwing incompletions on first and second down. I’m excited to see what Les trots out on the field!
@drgnslayr Being a college star is great publicity. Personally I don’t much care for the nba, but I do follow former Jayhawks.
IDK Even in one year a young man can grow a lot as a person given a well rounded education and the social interactions at university. Kids play basketball year round from an early age, many cut out all other sports and specialize early on. They didn’t do that before. Jordan played golf in the off season, not pickup basketball...and it didn’t seem to hold him back. Interesting topic, I just don’t know where the line should be. Even the pros should be taking more time away to let their body recover.

Apparently there are a ton of baseball legacies out there currently. All I can remember from the 90s was Ken Griffey Jr. But that’s probably because he was so darn good. (Personal favorite back then)

I want to see KU play Kentucky and Duke and UNC and MSU every year! I’ll never get tired of watching KU play quality national opponents. Especially after they’re overhyped, gotta love shutting up the media for a day or two.
What I’m tired of is big boying the big12, it’s time for another national contender in conference. Texas screwed that up when they fired Barnes. Tech may be that if they can figure out how to get recruits there and keep Beard in place.

As horrible as the injury is, I’m glad it didn’t happen straight out of college. The what if’s would’ve been haunting for Perry then; now he pretty much knows where he stands.
