I feel like this was the same thing last year though. We were a great transition team non-con and then we had slugfests all conference season, only to get to run again in the tourney.
Key is just to survive the conference season again and get that 1 seed.
I know it's worthless right now , but still check it out they still have KU as the # 1 seed overall in the tourney. I've always had different views on that at times. Do we want the pressure of being the # 1 ovrall and put that much more pressure on the guys - -OR do we gladly accept it and take and run with our chances ?

There has been quite a few times lately he has saved our tails. - The thing i like , he can defend the perimeter , his scoring is improving & the kid just flat hustles. He is not afraid to go to the floor and scrap for a loose ball. - He just does whatever is needed. - He can get a block at crucial times it seems , man could you imagine what he would be like if he was a couple of inches taller. - -I'm liking hi more and more all the thime , and the kid is built rock solid - -really stong - you don't see to mny pushing him around - -he is my MVP

Personally, I’m not as concerned with the game at home with TCU. They like to run, well guess what, our guys can too. TCU is not that good in the half court, well our guys have the ability to execute well in the half court. The part that concerns me also is a KSU hot shooting night Tuesday. Hopefully they’ve cooled off.
Self was also saying yesterday, in a nutshell, that every team we play is giving it 110% to try to beat us. He said that people sometimes expect more than winning by 3 or something like that, which he said can be valid, but they have to keep it in perspective.
Folks, outside of maybe WVU at home, there will probably not be any blowout or double digit wins until the tournament. The competition is too good and while we like the team. and they are obviously a final four contender, they are not some historically dominant team that is going to win big with how tough the conference is. Just enjoy the season and let Self work his magic.
I'll give the guys this much for sure - -not sur if you know what the letters stood for when Gene Smithson was at Wichita St -no I'm not a Wichita State fan far from it - -but love the phrase - - ( MTXE ) - -stood for Mental Toughness Extra Effort.. - -I think the guys have that- -never letting up just trudging along guttin it out. - -love that with this team - - I actually think these close games could be very beneficial down the line , and into the NCAA'S - -One big concern I have is that our starting 5 get wore down as the Season goes on having to play so many minutes. -that's why I keep saying we have just got to get something from the bench for sure down the line - -we can't continue to just get away with 6-7 we need 8 solid off the bench.- When we sub in our point production just vanishes big drop off.
Like you I am worried about Tuesday as K/State coming off a bad game - -KU being huge rival - -Their crap gym just bumpin -- not gonna take much for the kitties to get on a roll - -crucial foul trouble - we just can't keep playing with fire and fall behind like we been doing - it's gonna catch up with us sooner or later

I know some will disagree with what I say and that's fine- -people are entitled to do so, just one persons opinion I just think it is set up perfect Tuesday - K/State playing really poorly , coming back home playing their big enemy - -KU /Rival - -the place is going to be ROCKIN/JUMPIN - and if they get on any kind of roll- - - - -I could be just as easily wrong to - -just feeling the way w are playing right now - -not terrible BUT not the best y far either - I just feel w are prime to get beat.
Plus on down the road if we don't get some kind of production from the bench get that reliable 6th /7th man come tourney time we be screwed

Yet K/State # 11 & TCU # 17 are both ranked teams and pretty good ranked teams at that , then we have our boys #2 KU and ranked # what nu 14 Iowa State. - just the way the cookie crumbled this week. I watched some of their game against Oklahoma St and Nowell was pulling up from 30 feet and making threes. That is pretty tough to defend against. That game will come down to how well Harris can defend Nowell and how well Kevin can defend Johnson. If you can contain those two guys then KU will win. I think it is going to be one hell of a game.

Not every team has that physical defensive style of play that OU was able to slow KU down with. That's been Moser's MO even at Loyola. I know I looked at the matchup and saw OU could position for position give us fits and that's what ended up happening. If KU makes half the 21 layups they missed how much does that change the game? OU got lucky they controlled the tempo and crowd early since KU couldn't piss in any ocean.
Iowa St does play physical defensively and we play them Saturday, however I think we're going to see a different team in 2 days. I wouldn't be surprised if we find a way to play to the level that beat Indiana handily. Would be nice to travel to Manhattan for the next battle after one of those feel good games.

On top of that , this game was soooo hard to ge any kind of continuity with this game - - any kind of flow, when you have whisltes every time down the floor.The referees wanted to have this game all about them

They have 3 good starters we have 3-4 pretty god starters. - our depth is suspect, - our bench of Bobby - - Joe - - MJ to a lesser degree ( we just haven't really gotten a good feel for him cause he is always hurt in one way or another ) & then our bigs - -kind of a hodge podge hee - -I guess you would have to say depends on the situation - so Clemence - Or Zuby - -so i think we offset there because there to I think we can gt just enough nothing special but I guess ok i guess -going to be interesting. - That place will be nuts - but we have vetrans that have been there before.
Another thing is I know sounds crazy but it just seems that this team doesn't gt rattled- - e get behind - we don't force/press just keep plugging along

They have two 1st team All Big-12 caliber players at PG and Wing. I'm stunned at the pieces around them playing at the level they have.
They have an inflated record from a weak non-conference slate, but they are going to be tough to beat. They match up well with us.

Watching TCu - -Texas last night and just thinking Dam this league is just a real meat grinder. TCU hda a 18 point lead - -they look pretty dam good even though they wasted their lead away - -they look aggressive/quick - -Texas showed mojo. - -Every time out gonna nbe a war
Interesting nobody wanting to give any input about whether they thought KSU was ranked to high - at # 11 this week. So going off that I guess your all in agreement that YES KSU is ranked correctly. Interesting , - I don't think they are I think should be more around the 15 - 17th in rankings. Yet I guess everyone thinks # 11 is right. - we shall see
Reading this off TOS. I just have to say this after reading some posts , I've come to the Conclusion that no matter what there are SOME people that your never going to be able to satisfy.
A couple of posters from there whining and complaining about the ranking of our foot ball class. Saying thinking we should be getting higher ranked players and such. Bottom line to this whole fiasco the just is that they are dissatisfied with how we are doing in recruiting - -Really ? - -get the hell out of here with that - -there are very specific seasons why they are ranked where we are ranked. - just got to think about it, and has been mentioned.
What people have to remember one reason is this is still a young team, our transitional rate /turnover has been really small- -graduation has been small - -so your classes you recruit are smaller , which hinders your rankings.
Second stop and think look at the stops where Coach has been at - -# let's see what was it - -Div III - Wisconsin White Water ? is that correct ? - - Buffalo - - Now KU. -- now for the first two places mentioned, it would be hard as hell to recruit top notch players to places like that - and for KU in the past - what better recruit would give KU the time of day because of your record - one of the worst if not the worst P-5 program. Your not gonna get good players come to a school with the history we had - but we are on the rise - getting better recruits.
Then lastly , Coach L so I have read and heard never really has had super recruiting classes - -but what Coach L does is goes out find the kid that he thinks will fit in decent players and he DEVELOPS THEM - -Coach knows how to develop.
Some people will NEVER be happy - you got to realize how Coach recruits - we will be fine - WAKE UP
Well - - we REALLY about to find out how big of set we got , the rest of January is just ridiculous . - have you taken a look at the remaining schedule for the month ? No ? -here it is:
We have # 14-- - Iowa State - - on Saturday - - -then we have # 11 - - Kansas State Tuesday - -then we have # 17 - - -TCU - - Then we have Baylor ( sure not what they have been but stil quality team ) - - Then we have Kentucky at Rupp ( let's not get to full of ourselves ) - -Then we finish the Month out with # 11 - -Kansas State again
Were not going to be able to come out and play and feel we can just turn it on at anytime- -got to come out focused the rest of the moth that's for sure
