18 Point Dogs to the Bears • Sep 27, 2020 05:14 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 honestly like what’s the upside of MacVittie. At least playing Daniels you have the ability to see if the kid has it, and if he doesn’t show progression you know recruiting wise to move on. This team won’t make a bowl game!!!! MacVittie had his chance week one and blew it against a mid major team. Daniels has D1 athleticism and arm strength. Maybe he will be a cozart and struggle with field vision. But I’d rather sit and watch to see if he progresses then the alternative.

Down goes Oklahoma! • Sep 27, 2020 02:55 AM

@DanR it amazes me how bad OU defense is every year with their recruiting level

18 Point Dogs to the Bears • Sep 27, 2020 02:13 AM

@jayballer67 I agree with you on Daniels....Daniels is the future for ku this year. I rather play a freshman who clearly has a strong upside this year then play some old senior who couldn’t out compete an average Carter Stanley. The junior Kendrick I would have been fine with giving a little more of a chance, but here on out we should play Daniels. Daniels will grow more from playing then sitting on the bench... you can’t help that our o line sucks, defense is not good. We have talent at skill positions but too many other flaws. Offensive play calling has been suspect and pooka played at wide receiver way too many times

GAME DAY • Sep 13, 2020 05:06 AM

Their qb is a freshman who was ranked as a 2 star recruit. And Ku can’t recruit one decent qb in 10 years

GAME DAY • Sep 13, 2020 04:31 AM

And if these are suppose to be rpo’s then pull the damn pall and throw it when they are crashing the line

GAME DAY • Sep 13, 2020 04:30 AM

Is anyone freaking tired of shot gun hand offs. Like I don’t get it, we’ve been watching this same spread offense crap for the last 8 years. If your going to spread then pass more. If you want to be a run team then go under center or at least run triple options out of shot gun. But I’m sick of these shotgun hand offs over and over again. Ugh

GAME DAY • Sep 13, 2020 03:50 AM

This has to be the worst half of ku football I’ve ever seen. I’m not shocked by the qb play, but defensively I’m just at loss for words how bad they look.

Wow. Bucks Boycott Game 5 • Aug 27, 2020 09:41 AM

Getting training on better ways to avoid having to use excessive force is very important. Yes, the police throughout the country have lost respect as a whole and proper steps need to be taken to fix the issues. Still though majority of cops are great at their job and do it the right way. If the guy had followed the cops instructions, didn’t resist arrest, stopped after being tased, it wouldn’t have escalated to this.

Wow. Bucks Boycott Game 5 • Aug 27, 2020 09:15 AM

Situation was awful, but honestly it’s crazy how in many of these situations, the individual has a prior extensive criminal background and how many of them get escalated when they resist arrest. Doesn’t make it right but let’s also stop acting like the guys are angels or have no fault of their own in the situation. Senseless excessive force has to stop but defunding police is not the answer. Improving education requirements/schooling of officers, Transparent investigations, and counseling/mental health opportunities. We know ptsd is a major thing for the military but we don’t think about ptsd effecting cops who face dangerous situations daily. Hopefully as a country we can progress beyond racism, especially the police force violence. With all that being said, hopefully the public can be educated on respecting officers and following their directions to avoid these encounters.

2021 Recruiting • Aug 26, 2020 04:20 PM

@BShark thanks for the info! Let’s hope we can keep him.

2021 Recruiting • Aug 26, 2020 01:13 PM

Oh really? Why is that? Academics or being swooped up by a different school for football. I’ve always found it weird how many kids verbal declare but switch to other programs later

2021 Recruiting • Aug 26, 2020 04:06 AM

Anyone seen Keon Coleman play basketball in person. He’s a guard I keep forgetting about from the 2021 class that’s joining us to play football and basketball

Bill's Evolution - The Athletic • Aug 11, 2020 05:05 PM

I hope so! His improved mobility and defensive dominance last year I think really helped his draft status

Bill's Evolution - The Athletic • Aug 11, 2020 03:15 PM

For sure basketball has moved away from a true post game. If your 4 and 5 can space the floor and shoot, defense becomes super difficult. Also it’s funny when I watch nba, post ups can be arm barred and pushed but if they barely slap a hand on a drive it’s a foul. So definitely rules are going against post up play. Lastly I think post up play has fallen off due to the lack of good hook shots from many young post players. If you can’t use either hand on a hook shot, back to the basket post ups are worthless. Doke’s dominance down low really showed last year but early in his career his post up game was so raw and not developed. We partly lost to Villanova In the final four bc he couldn’t punish them offensively inside to make them pay for going small, and we got killed bc he wasn’t as good at rotating out on shooters during that game. Hence wide open threes. This years doke would have made it hard on that Villanova team.

K.J. Adams • Aug 02, 2020 01:44 AM

Garret played the 4 lol. He caught the ball in the high post in many of the sets and was guarded by the other teams power forward

K.J. Adams • Aug 01, 2020 09:24 PM

I guess I don’t mean that Garrett can’t run the team or create some looks for others but he was such a mismatch at the 4 spot and most of his offense translated from mismatches in drives. It will be interesting to see if he can score at a similar rate driving against quicker guards

K.J. Adams • Aug 01, 2020 05:31 PM

I see Harris as a Russell Robinson upside. He has good defensive potential, can drive a little, not much of an outside shot but could be average with it by his senior year. I don’t see him having NBA potential. They need to have that nba level guard. Hickman has that upside. Jossell is such an unknown. Either we will be surprised with his game or he’s merv Lindsey level and your left shaking your head what the coaching staff saw. I never see braun being a true pg, just in emergencies. Garret should do well next year but the worry is offensively he has only been consistently effective when playing the 4

K.J. Adams • Aug 01, 2020 01:36 AM

Great news! Now they need to land Hickman!

K.J. Adams • Jul 31, 2020 06:52 PM

Lol alright well if the kid picks ku today then I hope your wrong. Also sunrise is an academy they are different then a standard high school and play teams all throughout the country. Of course those type of programs will have more talent. Westlake is like a Lawrence or Olathe school In their region. Also your making too big of deal about high school competition. Kids play AAU and that’s were their rankings mostly come from. Braun did fine his freshman year at ku and Kansas 6a teams are consistently much worse then the area that Adams plays in. Also of course I know your from the Texas area. I’m saying your weirdly biased against Texas players. Oh and it’s odd that your such an expert about teams from his area but haven’t seen him play, hmmm!

K.J. Adams • Jul 31, 2020 05:46 PM

https://m. ↗

Here’s a video If anybody wants to watch, shows a matchup of west lake ( with Adams and his teammate a player who went SMU) vs Langston love and a team that had Will baker (he was just hurt). Adams has a few dunks and blocks. Plus looks like just terrible competition lol.....Those teams would wipe the floor with most kc area teams lol

K.J. Adams • Jul 31, 2020 05:14 PM

I guess agree to disagree. Obviously you never know for sure how a kid will produce when they get to college but I’ve seen enough to give the guy a chance. I also find your evaluation of Texas basketball a little comical. Texas produces a ton of football and basketball talent every year. It seems like your a little over the top about Texas kids like Wilson. Hopefully the next kid self gets you will like more. Do you like clemence? He is less athletic but a little taller and a better shooter.

K.J. Adams • Jul 31, 2020 05:19 AM

Man your just all over this athleticism thing aren’t you. Have you seen this kid in person several times? From the videos I watch the kid doesn’t look that unathletic. The kid is suppose to be a good rebounder and has a lot of great traits. Sure he’s not Zion vertical out there, if he was, he would be a top 20 pick lol. Strength and lateral quickness are also a big part of athleticism. Just bc you can jump doesn’t mean your necessarily a good defender or athletic. There have been plenty of super athletic players at ku that have been flops or mediocre bc they had poor coordination/skills etc. hell if the kid is even half of what Lawson or Ellis were he’s a good pickup. Sorry the staff missed out on Kendall brown but get over it

K.J. Adams • Jul 30, 2020 12:35 AM

Villanova had nba talent but there guys were like Devonte or svi they weren’t top 20 recruits across the board. they developed into nba players

K.J. Adams • Jul 30, 2020 12:33 AM

I guarantee he will shoot 38% or higher from 3. And what’s the negative attitude on a top 25 recruit? The kid is a stud! If we want to break down a player, Kendall brown had a high dribble and no outside shot lol. Red flags right there

K.J. Adams • Jul 29, 2020 10:38 PM

Texas hawk 10 your so wrong on Thompson. The guys going to be a stud he’s already taller then he was in High school and he’s a sharp shooter. He’s a first round pick easy! Obviously we need some top 30 talent to be a great team but a foundation of that 2008 title team had a lot of solid top 100 guys (Kaun, Robinson, Jackson). Garret has been a great player and he wasn’t a top 20 player. Even trob wasn’t top 15. Last final four team didn’t have a nba first rounder and was great. Yeah NCAA vilolations and unchecked Nike recruitment of guys to duke and Uk Is hurting ku but Virginia, Villanova all won titles with 3-4 year guys. And by the way kJ is exactly like the Villanova big guys that destroyed ku in the final four. 6ā€7 shooting big guys with muscle so they don’t get pushed around.

K.J. Adams • Jul 29, 2020 02:23 PM

I wouldn’t knock the guy too much yet. He’s a top 80 recruit for a reason. What I saw was a very athletic muscular frame but maybe not the explosive vertical you are wanting lol. The kid had very good handles, nice mid range jump shot, and good passing ability. I think he would be a good get. Sure we missed on the 5star KBrown. Brown would have been here 1 year, this kid is a 3-4 year guy. Sometimes we are better off with quality 3-4 year guys anyway. Besides Brown could dunk but he couldn’t shoot a lick.

2021 Recruiting • Jul 29, 2020 02:03 AM

He has pretty good handles from the videos I saw. Could even play SF

2021 Recruiting • Jul 22, 2020 08:29 PM

Is Micwaber etienne an option still? I know we offered and he’s a top 50ish center? That year we will have a jr braun, wilson, Enruna, ochai. Maybe Thomson or tgf if they return. A very good McCormick. Clemence will be an impact freshman. So I think we will be fine! Key is we need a good point guard. Hickman is key. You land him the class still has 2 top 50 players both addressing our need a power forward and a top pg. With 2022 hopefully adding top 50 level shooting guard talent in Grady dick. It’s annoying Baylor stole a recruit we should always get, but the league needs to be strong. That helps us prepare for a championship run, and gives us more credit when we win it. Baylor’s biggest advantage next year is that we may not have fans in the stadium next year, which takes away our home court advantage

2021 Recruiting • Jul 21, 2020 09:08 PM

The key is Hickman. You get 2 great players. Plus there is always someone really good late in the cycle. Still not shocking with the NCAA stuff going on and no reigning in of Nike and under armor schools on stuff. I’m sure we can’t match there offers right now

NOA response from KU discussion • Jun 19, 2020 02:42 AM

Hey if your a ku fan, don’t turn a blind eye to what the recruiting world is. Self is right to do this. the evidence on him is weak! even if we all know some shady things have happened. Can we please not act like every power program does this. We know how much money coach k gave Zion. We know duke and Uk have been 1-2 in the recruiting rankings every year for the past 6 years and ku has been 3-19 ranked. Let’s be honest that they probably do so much more shady stuff then ku. Let’s also not think about how the NCAA has turned a blind eye to Nike and under armor. This stuff happens in football too.

Zach Clemence • Jun 06, 2020 07:31 PM

ā€œDanRā€ that seems a little harsh. He’s a pure shooter at his size and if you watch his videos he has nice skill moves. Modern game is all about stretch big guys and he seems like one of the best in his class at that. I’m tired of watching videos of kids only dunking and then you see one clip of their shot and you see a huge red flag!

2020 Recruiting • Apr 27, 2020 10:46 PM

I feel like Kansas just doesn’t have a ton of 5 star kids so if one goes somewhere else, we feel like there is something wrong. We’ve gotten 5 starts from other people’s backyards all the time, it just happens. I think our recruiting has been impacted recently with the adidas thing.

Mitch • Apr 21, 2020 05:05 AM

I think he’s improved his ability to stretch the floor and like someone said earlier he didn’t redshirt to not play. We also know self loves 2 big guy lineups. All season we could see we were better with 4 guards and it took the fight for him to totally go away from 2 big guys. I’m totally fine running 4 guards, especially if Foster is the real deal but I would not be shocked if bill went with the experienced Mitch for a decent amount of the game at 4

Mitch • Apr 21, 2020 04:34 AM

Obviously doke was sensational but you’ve got a junior, former McDonald’s American center, whose showed some promise last year. I don’t think the drop off will be as big at center, as losing Dotson will be. We do not have a solidified pg. probably garret will start there and do fine. Garret has thrived the most when playing the 4 but he has the tools to be the pg.

Mitch • Apr 21, 2020 04:06 AM

I think we play lightfoot 25 min a game at the 4 and when he’s out we rotate 4 guards. Thompson and Braun are good shooters and I believe ochai will continue to improve on his shot. Wilson didn’t get enough time to really evaluate but he has good form on his three point shot and I expect him to shoot well. Biggest loss is dotson’s driving ability.

2020 Recruiting • Apr 17, 2020 02:33 AM

I get changing rules if your trying to keep top talent I guess, but the nba is watered down basketball. They have limited time to get a shot off. It’s really one pick and roll with maybe 2 passes, at most, with a quick shot. Quality of basketball is better in college. There are more play designs, more teamwork, and pace is much better.

2020 Transfer List • Apr 05, 2020 12:06 AM

Honestly I don’t think we need a single transfer. They only way would be if Silvio transfers and you want another big guy. We are set at guard and big guys with our current roster

Tyon Grant Foster commits to KU • Apr 01, 2020 02:19 AM

We will see what self does. I think we play 2 big guys only with lightfoot in and the rest of the time play 4 guards. It really just comes down to if lightfoot becomes a starter or not

Tyon Grant Foster commits to KU • Mar 31, 2020 05:16 PM

I don’t see him starting unless we start 4 guards and I don’t see that happening. I think self will start lightfoot. Thompson, garret, ochai will be the guards and McCormick the center

2020 Transfer List • Mar 30, 2020 05:14 PM

We will have shooters next year. Braun is obviously still on the roster and Thompson is an awesome 3 point shooter. Wilson has a good three point shot as well. Ochi has been inconsistent but I think his shot will be more and more consistent with each year.

2020 Transfer List • Mar 25, 2020 04:40 AM

I don’t see why we would need another player at this point. We have a really good starting 5. With garret, Ochi, Thompson, lightfoot, McCormick. We will play 2 big guys with a true power forward in lightfoot and play some combination of 4 guards with all of our small forwards in braun, tristian, wilson, and the new highly ranked juco guard. You have another pg in Freshman Harris. Silvio will be the main big guy off the bench with the freshman big guy gethro possibly playing or redshirting. We don’t need some mid major guy playing ahead of higher upside guys. We saw what Braun can do, but the other small forwards have high upside and will impact the program long term not one year!

Tyon Grant Foster commits to KU • Mar 22, 2020 04:55 PM

I think starters will be garret pg, Thompson sg, ochai sf, lightfoot pf, McCormick center... When lightfoot is out, we will play 4 guards with a combination of braun, wilson, tristian, foster. Depending on who plays well. Silvio plays back up center minutes. Maybe a few minutes from Harris at pg.... I think Latrell and gethro redshirt.

KU Team Picking Thinger • Mar 22, 2020 04:52 AM

Tyshawn, Mario, svi, rush, trob. Small line up, good defense except for svi. Several shooters surrounding tyshawn who was a good driver and a slightly better passer then someone like Dotson. Trob was the most dominant anterior scorer self had

Great idea, terrible execution! Seriously it’s like a 22 year old duke grad did this. Danny Manning, 2 final fours, 1 championship (one of the most magical championship runs ever), 12 all time in scoring, averaged roughly 24pts 9 rebounds a game 2 straight years, is an 8seed??? Carmelo is a 5 and he had one great year, and he should be one of the higher freshman but still a 5 and manning is an 8. Not only is manning an 8 but Zion is the 9 and Christian laettner is the 1 seed in his bracket. Jay Bilas even called out how crazy that was on the live broadcast
