@JayHawkFanToo Randle and Deng are getting less than a third of Lebrons deal. If they wanna sign somebody he's gonna have to convince players to play for what half anyone else will give them. Thompson is a long shot at best, I prob will win the lotto before he's in a Lakers uniform.
@BShark now maybe if they traded for Kawhi they can compete, but Iām still thinking GS and Houston are better teams. They prob will let Deng go and do a trade deal for there to be cap space for anyone else. Svi could see good minutes IMO because Caldwell-Pope is their only other shooter.
@JayHawkFanToo I would say Kawhi most likely, to be honest I think heās done playing for titles. I think even if they do get Kawhi they canāt compete with Golden State, Houston, Portland, San Antonio and OKC. Atleast not be better than all of them consistently. Theyād have better luck if George doesnāt use his option in OKC but I donāt know if they have the cap room to do a whole lot. I bet they trade Ball and Thomas for Kawhi but that really doesnāt open a ton of cap space with his huge deal. Some people are claiming James played the Cavs into trading for Nance and Clarkson so theyād have the cap to sign him.
Maybe we can get a decent deal for JTV on a channel that folks can get most places in our state.
LeBron James has signed a 4 year $154 million dollar deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. Just to remind everyone James has never won a title without Jayhawks on his roster. So you knew he was going to LA, Boston or Philly lol.
Yep, Kansas has always done this for the most part since Self has been here. Most years we have the most Quadrant 1 wins (even if you use the formula before they did) and have played the most teams in the tournament.
I think this is a good move for all parties, obviously Vick has had his issues with Coach and gotten into trouble at times but I never liked the idea of giving up on him. This could shake up the line up, how many players will be in the rotation. Self has liked his 7 or 8 rotation most years but he have to play 9, which is good imo with our tough SOS. Iād put money on Agbaji redshirting and Mitch maybe smart to do so if DeSousa can go as well. Can Sam redshirt, even tho he sat out his transfer year? I honestly didnāt think he was going to get a ton of PT with or without Vick ether way. Iād say a line up of Dotson, Vick, Grimes, D Lawson and Doke is looking pretty good with K.J., Moore, DeSousa and Garrett getting most the bench play but I wouldnāt sleep on Garrett starting over Dotson at PG ether. I think Charlie will be the third option at the spot. Man this team team is easily as deep as coach Self has had here, right up there with 07 and 08.
This is a damn good schedule, we will find out how good we are quickly and what all we need to improve on.
@BShark It seemed pretty obvious to me that plenty of folks were involved after seeing some of the texts sent between Briles and his assistants. Someone on here was saying we should hire Briles and I shot that down fast , want no part of anyone from that school at that time.
I agree that has had the most talented team in the nation half or better of the years heās been at UK. But itās noted in this article how the best teams donāt win the tournament that often. Thatās why itās so hard to gauge, Iām one of the few people that still think making the sweet 16 is solid. I just hope we donāt have to wait 20 years between titles again.
I agree with giving Beaty this season and seeing what happens, but in terms of square one how are we not still at square one? We have one win in 3 years against FBS teams. Beaty also hasn't helped the scholarship numbers as much as I expected and continues to do so with too many Juco guys. Only 11 players from Beaty's first class remain, if he would have sold out on HS recruits the first 2 classes and only took 2 or 3 juco guys while he had no pressure for his job whatsoever we'd be in much better shape and prob have just as many wins.
6ā4 Three Star TE Clay Cundiff of Bishop Carroll gives Kansas their second verbal of the 2019 class. Nice to see home grow kids on the roster if we can keep him. Him and 4star LeGendre are only commits thus far, which isnāt a surprise with Beatys job in question winning early in the season would be huge not only if Beaty wants to keep coaching but if we want anyone to sign. LeGendre kid looks like everything we could want from a QB, dual threat with good size.
Iām a little disappointed I didnāt make the list š¢
To me its one of those deals that I would stay completely away from, the kid isn't the next great not worth baggage to sign him. Now I suppose there is a remote chance that he isn't guilty but it would be tough for the average 6 year old to fabricate such a story. I'll tell you this if it was my daughter or niece I'd be in Leavenworth for the rest of my days. Cases like this are why public hangings and the electric chair should be still in use. Let's not give the attention they are after, lets give them what the deserve. Why we will put down dogs that harm children but not others I'll never understand. This isn't a political debate (you won't change my mind and I probably can't change yours), if your opinion varies thats fine and we can still be friends.
Happy for Billy, I know a lot of people have harped on him and I aināt saying he deserves a free pass but no ones perfect and Iād be willing to several players gotta away with more.
@Crimsonorblue22 if DG had his size, heād be picked already no question, thatās the main reason he went in the first round. DG averages more points, rebounds, assists and steals all while turning it over less. Size and age hurt DG just like it did Frank last year.
Shamet going to the sixers could be a good fit too, think he maybe in the G for a bit tho. Iām not super high on him but if he can shoot it consistently he has a chance.
I think Mikel Brides to Suns and Zhaire Smith now to the 76ers.
Crazy to me that they had Porter as the 7th best available to start, heās a pretty risk lottery pick with his back and little has been seen from him.
Whoās the first KU guy to go and when??
I was surprised to see Trae Young go so early, figured heād be around 11
Wow, looks like a poor mans Georges Niang with worse handles. It honestly looks like he has very little athleticism whatsoever and can't even dribble with his left hand. I wouldn't draft him if there were 4 rounds, if he gets drafted he better sign whatever he can because he'll last about as long as a fart in the wind. I would take any KU player on scholarship before him.
Shouldāve traded him for a 30 pack, I realize he probably wouldnāt have been resigned after the season and the royals are going nowhere fast but wouldāve been smart to try and get something decent for him.
I donāt see us adding anyone at this unless Vick can talk coach Self into letting him return. As stated PT is very limited as it with who we currently have no sense in getting some to sit on the bench for 3 years.
Youāve got a long ways to go lol
@approxinfinity I talking about a play where the guy has open floor in front of him and a player grabs him from behind to stop an open dunk in the NBA. That's when the one shot plus ball should be enforced.
@HighEliteMajor and @BShark touched on some of the stuff I was gonna say before I noticed the thread was unlocked. One other thing to think about is Doke isnāt gonna play the full game probably will average in the 20-25 MPG range. @approxinfinity Its all good, if I had a dollar for everytime I hit the wrong button the football stadium would be named after me lol. I personally hate the break away fouls that you see so much in the nba, a simple rule that makes it to where the team that was fouled gets one FT and the ball back would fix that instantly. I think intentional fouls to send the other team to the line should only happen in the last 2 minutes. One of my biggest pet peeves of baseball is how a player can be repeatedly walked intentionally, itās kinda chicken to me. I think they need a rule where a team is given one per game, thatās it.
@JayHawkFanToo True story, Iām ready for fall.
Grimes looks really good, if he can improve his 3 point shooting, heās a star in the making. I think we can all agree the 3 ball is most likely the biggest question mark going into next season. Dotson, Grimes and Garrett all need to improve in that area, the good news theyāll have the summer and fall to make progress.
Ya itās been crazy hot for the middle June here in central Kansas, already 4 100+ degree days and 2 weeks straight of 95 or better. @Crimsonorblue22 thank you, itās been a crazy weekend. Itās fathers today and both me and my sons birthday as well. Makes for a crazy weekend but mostly good lol.
@Crimsonorblue22 You read it wrong then I read your response wrong lol. We are tied for the most returning starters not the best returning. We really only lost Mesa and Dorrance.
If the Morris twins don't show up it could go ether way if Kareem can still ball, him and Demon can score the ball fairly well. KU actually has guys that are in the NBA so doubt a ton of those guy risk injury to come play.
@Crimsonorblue22 Not sure I canāt find the article that I read that in a few months ago.
The excuses for KU football continue to evaporate as preseason camp looms. Kansas was voted by ESPN to have the 3rd easiest SOS in terms of non conference this coming season. All while being tied for a nations best 19 returning starters from last year. The schedule consists of Nichols State, @Central Michigan and Rutgers. Iād say Beaty must win a minimum of 2 of these games to keep his job til conference play begins. Sadly I think Iāve become more interested in how many fans show up to the game so then the games themselves.
@BShark ya football has faltered a little for me me in recent years. Iām a big fan of college sports so KU not fielding a competitive team in nearly a decade hasnāt helped, that and with the kids I try to just stay engaged to KU hoops because my wife would kill me if I put that much time in anything else lol. The NFL has gotten more lame to me over the years. I used to watch about every Sunday, now I say I watch about 3 games a year.
@JayHawkFanToo very much so lol
Never been able to get into soccer, if I wanted to watch someone struggle to score for 90 minutes, I'd take my friends to the bar.
Donāt get me started on the TV deal BS lol. Hopefully the new AD can renegotiate a better for those of us that donāt have the Cox and time warner stuff available.
I agree with @Texas-Hawk-10 , I think a player should only be able to transfer under certain circumstances if they donāt have to sit out. Itās gonna open a bunch of recruiting of players that are already at a school if not. Mario Chalmers wanted to transfer after his freshman year, he very well may have if he didnāt have to set out a year. When you go to a big name like Kansas you better believe you will be recruited over to some extent regardless of how good you are. Iād say the coach has to have left or you didnāt see an X amount of minutes after two seasons or the shoe companies will turn the off season into a free agency.
It's a great day to be a jayhawk!
@approxinfinity I really wish Self couldāve landed this kid. Think of how good he would be with better coach.
@approxinfinity I agree, donāt know that heād take the bigger pay cut to be in Houston or Oakland. But if itās all about cash heāll be in gold with the lakers.
If LeBron was smart heād go to Philly. I donāt think LeBron is the Goat (Wilt and Iāll argue) but the level of play he has been at for 14 years is unbelievable, the question to me becomes how many more years can he play at this level? He better off with a group of young fellas can only get better so he doesnāt have to carry the team 90% of the time. I believe Joel is already a top 5 player at his position when healthy and has a chance to become the best within a few years. Simmons is already a great athlete and passer, could also become a top 5 player at his position within a year or 2. Iād gladly take Saric and Reddick over Hill and Smith any day of the week. You add LeBron and Paul George or Leonard to that group and only the only Celtics when healthy could hold a candle to them in the east. The West gets so much tougher unless he goes to Houston, Iād say heās a complete fool if he goes to the lakers idc if they get him and Paul George, they aināt better than the 4th or 5th team in the West.
Iām sure the first thought in seeing the title to this column people think I may have posted in the wrong sport lol. But the last time LeBron James was swept out of the NBA finals, the Kansas football team went 12-1 and won the orange bowl. I would say the chances of that trend continuing is less than me winning the powerball.
I wonder is we could see Mitch play at the 3 spot this next season. If he is able to work on ball handling and shooting, I be shocked to not see it at some point.
Seems like more folks are sticking around than usual to me lmao. The large crowds of KU football on here will be busy in September š
I watch last few minutes last night because it was a close game and Iām quickly reminded why I dislike the NBA. You couldāve called numerous moving screens that were obvious and everytime a player gets a foul called against him he throws a complete fit, what a great message for the young viewers. No wonder we see more arguing with the refs in college, most of them watch this trash.
@BShark still a good outing lol
I read to day that Mitch lead all scorers in todayās scrimmage with 26 points including 6 3s. He needs to study a guy like Perry Ellis or even Dean Wade for KSU. Learn to stretch the floor and be quick off the bounce to get his shots, Mitch probably wonāt redshirt and we all know heāll come to work everyday so Iām not counting him out for big minutes just yet.
