Ya boy I thought Joel got in Melo and Russ’s head there for a bit. They had their chances and it was a great comeback to send it in to OT. This Philly team may not get to the Playoffs this year but if these young guys continue to grow they could be a force in the east in a few years, especially if Lebron heads to the West Coast.

ASU loss wouldn’t felt as bad had we beat Washington, who after beating us lost to Gonzaga bye 30. ASU doesn’t have a ton of size but their guards are highly athletic and have played very well to this point. Nebraska should be a 15 point win for us on the road, I bet it’s close early and we pull away late. I hope our guys are ready, I bet Self has had a few tough practices this week. We need a few wins here before Christmas. We have Omaha Monday and Stanford Thursday. Get these 3 wins and everyone can settle down a bit. Lose a couple of these and the fan base will become very restless heading into conference play.

If Billy gets cleared and or De Sousa, his PT would’ve been short lived here anyway. It’s hard to go from a big dog in Highschool to a bench warmer in college. Kid just wanted to play ball, don’t fault anyone in his deal.

@jayballer54 De Sousa will,know his test scores tomorrow and could be in Lawrence as soon as Sunday.

@big12basketblog Very nice, I think imma little enraged watching your clips about just how lazily we closed out Sunday. Several times we just walked on the guy with the ball. There would be trash cans in the gym if I was coaching and lots of running and wall sits, that lack of willingness to compete is sickening no way around it. I think these two loses could help I think we got big headed and thought we could half ass it and still win.

Alumni, the reason we play at the sprint center. Honestly it’s a good place to play, get a few locals that don’t wanna pay for the higher fieldhouse tickets. It’s similar to where most of the NCAA games with be played before the final four(obviously where the conference tournament is). The power and light district is awesome, don’t blame our in ability to win in the place on anyone but our players and staff. We wouldn’t be talking down the place if our guys would’ve at least showed up vs Washington. I hate that ESPN claims we have back to back home losses for the first time since 1989. Which is BS, it’s a 35 mile drive in another city, and state. When WSU lost to OSU last year in Intrust, no one called it a home loss tho its all of maybe 4 miles from Koch in the same city.

@justanotherfan Yes, he was setup twice on Sunday for wide open threes, I mean super wide open and was off bye 3 feet one way and a foot the other. Not very often do I think I could take a KU player even in HORSE but him and Doke without dunks I’d like my odds. @BeddieKU23 Its kinda what you would expect him to say. He’s not gonna say he sucks and does understand what Self wants.

@Kcmatt7 @Texas-Hawk-10 You forget even before the man hunt, KU had one of the worst defenses in major college football.

@HighEliteMajor I heard that his AAU coach gave him the car and that his mom was trying to come up with cash to purchase it and the issue go away per say.

The trouble I have with Newman is he seems to be playing selfishly at times, maybe it just looks that way. The other thing isn’t all that great of an athlete for a top 5 guy, I see no way he ever plays in the nba.

Self did say they were close to an update on Billy, that was last week so I’d expect word any day now. I know De Sousa twitted that he was gonna be some where sooner than expect yesterday, could be nothing but who knows. Obviously we know Sam can go and Self as talked highly of his athletic ability. That means he could get minutes for defensive purposes at some point, doubt it’s a ton this weekend but who knows with Newman’s issues (would suck to go thru finals with a concussion) he could see several minutes.

@approxinfinity I bet we have started 0-2 at some point in our 100 and some odd years. I know we have started 1-2 several times.

The defense is terrible, especially at the guard spots which really isn’t surprising when you look at how bad we were last year on defense with two highly athletic guys in Mason and Jackson. Our players won’t look like D1 players when playing a good a team. Malik Newman maybe the biggest recruiting flop in history (top 5 National). No way he plays in the NBA no chance, I bet he rides the pine a year from now and transfers. Lagerald must turn into the dog that Self is talking about. He has all the tools to do so. Unless Billy can go and he is a Trob type player no way we make it outta the first weekend in March without hitting a high number of threes. If Self makes this team B12 champions, he is the best coach to ever live. Question, Will Bill Self still have more B12 titles than loses at home bye the end of the season? I honestly think not, I could see us losing 3 more home games, this team will be Selfs second double digit loss team. All this being said we are due a down year. The streak has to end at some point.

@nuleafjhawk Doren at NC state wanted the job a few years back. Here’s the deal with finding a coach, if you pay high enough someone will come end of story.

The wheels have pretty much fell off of what once was s solid class, who knew a third year coach not winning against s single FBS team would do that. Smh why is Beaty still here.

@wissox I think we would've beat WSU last year. If the series never stopped in 94 we prob win all but 1 or 2 from 95-2012. From 13 to present is prob split. No team best us year in and out. We have a winning record vs all current and former B12 schools.

This team just doesn’t have the athletes that most top tier teams do end of story. Our guards can’t keep guys in front of them, they aren’t quick enough. We currently have no bench (33 minutes of play today with 6 rebounds and a single point). Offensively we hit a drought early in the second half but hard to blame offense when you score 85. I can’t remember a team hanging 95 in our building baring a OT game let alone 58 points in a single half. We will find out just how tough this team is as the season wears on and also how good of a coach Self is. To be honest we are due a bad year and we weren’t gonna win the B12 forever people need to lighten up and be better fans when things aren’t peachy, is what I thought leaving the field house today. People forget ASU now has 2 double digit top 15 wins, they are a top 10 team right now. Period. End of story.

I’d take ASU in a match vs WSU all day long. They got down bye 20 to a 2 win Cal team and trailed SDSU with 7 minutes to go. I’d say WSU is better than us but let’s not act like they are just stomping good teams. ASU is better than any team WSU has played. ASU is an athletic bunch promise.

Duke loss, KSU loss and I've found out I'm going to the game tomorrow. Christmas was early this year for me.

@HighEliteMajor I agree, I would start Garrett Sunday. Maybe Newman needs the Jeff Withey treatment, hit every stair in the fieldhouse! I honestly hope Sam pushes these guys for playing time. Instead of the we got who got short bench stuff.

@justanotherfan This why having another guard next week in Sam is important, I doubt he plays a ton or lights it up. But if he could give guys a good few minutes on the perimeter a rest it would be huge.

We need him, as much as I applaud Clays efforts thus far. It’s never good when a 6’4 walk on guard is at the 5 spot.

@HighEliteMajor @BShark Honestly watching some of the ASU vs SJU last night along with OU and TCU. I’m a litttle worried we are just not as athletic as the teams we will face much of the rest of the year. Vick is our only great athlete at this point. I’ve walked away very disappointed with Newman’s 10 inch vertical so far. I think this game could go ether way but look for a high number of points.

Predictions for the game anyone?

A water valve malfunction has caused the Fieldhouse flooding of up to 3 feet in several areas. The court was not effected and the game as of right now is still a go for tomorrow.

@JayHawkFanToo I don’t disagree with your last post. My shoe co was a response to Jaybate. Why I said @jaybate-1-0 lol. Self claims WSU has never contacted us about a game, who knows. This argument could go back and forth for years. A KU vs MU would be way big, it raised millions of dollars in a glorified scrimmage. I’m the end the scheduling isn’t up to us.

We shot like crap against UK as well but actually made an effort to defend someone while also rebounding the ball. Your effort has to be good day in and out, shooting comes and goes. “If you want look at how hard a team plays look at the rebounds” - Bill Self. Now we were only out rebounded bye 3 but gave 10 offensive rebounds, 2 of which lead to 3s. The defensive effort can be summarized bye the first play of the second half when Washington buries a 3 while we have no one headed for a close out and just watch. Darn he made it, guess we should do again.

What an idiot, now I’ll agree right now we haven’t played like a top 5 team let alone a top 10 team this year. We have stomped a lot of srcubs thus far, and I’d say we are a sweet 16 team right now as does Bilas with ESPN. But that all could change very quickly once Sam is able to play and hopefully Billy. The ceiling of this team is consideraby higher IMO with those two guys able to go. We’ve had guys playing the whole game with no choice at this point even when we are up big and a 6’4 walk-on playing at the 5 when in foul trouble.

@drgnslayr Highly unlikely it would be that big of a deal nationally for us to play WSU. Their media market is microscopic compared to most. I seldom see WSU gear outside of Wichita, I’ve seen KU fans in several different states. KU is in the top 25 most years of merchandise sales, never seen WSU in the top 50. The god honest truth is WSU just plays harder than we do night in and out. We don’t play with a chip on our shoulders, we are already a big deal. Look as Wednesday as a prime example, Self even said himself they played harder and out hustled us. When we lose in Manhattan it’s because they play harder, they ain’t as talented as us they just care more. To be honest it drives me nuts when I see our guys lazily play. The trouble is that they are good enough to play shitty and win half of their games. @jaybate-1-0 If Nike was that important to be successful im CBB we would be Nike still, trust me. We were NIke for Roy’s time and didn’t have the success we’ve had under Adidas and Self. I highly Doubt Nike cares about the Midwest as much as you think they do. The rest of the nation really doesn’t care about Kansas in anything. WSU is a tiny tiny media market team highly doubt Nike puts all their resources to work for WSU. Not to mention they don’t have the big money maker in football.

@JayHawkFanToo I meant better seed, lower number but yes I’ve seen replays and KU should’ve won. I don’t have anything against WSU, I just dislike their fan base that didn’t exist 5 years ago. I followed them quite a bit when Mark was there, even went to a game in his second year because I got free tickets ( Was about 1500 people there back then). I’ll watch them as a basketball fan but don’t really care if the win or lose. I think they are solid forsure and Gregg as done well no question but most WSU fans I meet are Similar to KSU fans with their arrogance. Even heard some calm to be a national power after 5 good years. I think calling them the Gonzaga of the Midwest is a little premature. It will be interesting to see how they fair in a decent conference.

@mayjay Phog Allen was huge in the game for hundreds of reasons. He created the National Association of Basketball Coaches, which together came up with the NCAA tournament. He also was the driving force in getting basketball in the Olympics. He coached the 1952 team to a Gold medal. @HawkChamp I honestly wish we’d just play them at times. I do think it would help them more than us tho. I believe that’s why they have been scheduling B12 teams the last few years, to piss us off.

Well it’s not hard to shut up Shocker fans for me. How does a proclaimed basketball school have 9 conference titles and 2 final fours (one of which in the last 50 years). @JayHawkFanToo WSU was the lower seed in the battle for New Orleans, they should’ve won. Last time we played them in the regular season it was 103-54. Which ended the series because KU wanted 2 home games to one and not to have to go to a roach infested Koch area. Ask them who won the first game ever played at Koch? You guess it Kansas. Why weren’t they crying about playing us from 1994-2012? Because it would’ve been a 50 point romp 15 of those years. I honestly wish we’d kept the series going Roy started because we’d have a helleva lot better record than the 13-3 we already have vs them.

@jaybate-1-0 Now this we can agree on, hopefully Sam has improved because Newman needs to find the bench with his selfish play. I think he plays hard plays for himself more than the team. The trouble is Garrett has played like trash the last 3 games as well so it would be hard to start him too.

@jaybate-1.0 Every year just like clock work, someone has a bad and they are hurt arrcording to you. Washington was more athletic than any team we have faced baring maybe a super young UK. DTG has played good for 2 whole games outta 8. Svi must be hurt he shot well under his average, Newman has been hurt all year I suppose too. Pretty much every tonight was hurt I reckon.

@Crimsonorblue22 Yes, rebounding wasn’t great ether, they had 2 big 3s when it was close off of offensive rebounds. They also shot better from distance than they normal do. This years team will end up like last years defensively, must out score to win. Stomping typewriter maintenance league teams to make our d look good so far.

Well I guess we won’t go unbeaten in 2018, it’s not the end of the world. We missed Frank Mason badly tonight. I guess I don’t understand why we just stood on offense, Syracuse was lazy on their zone, they laid back for open shooters. Washington did not of course, I really didn’t see a ton changes in what we ran. Pretty much asked Vick to be prefect (he was decent missed some close ones but most were contested). I feel like we were out coached in this friends. I guess we don’t have a soul on this team that can drive it to force the defense to rotate outta position. Our guards have to be able to get around their man 1 on 1 and we flat out can’t. Drive and kick for open shots.

Billy Preston could help this team a ton, he can hit that soft jump or drive in like Vick except he is 6 inches taller and Longer. I’ve mentioned it before about how we seem to live bye the 3 and it finally cost us after lighting it up after the UK game. Hopefully Sam is able to drive the basketball.

This team could win the NC if they get hot in their current state but also lose in the first weekend if the ball isn’t going in. Washington played better than they are and we played worse. Idk what’s with the sprint center all the sudden but that’s Ls in 3 of 4 there and as much as we play there it’s pretty disappointing. Doke had 10 and 9 spending most of the first half on the bench and Vick had 28, 7 assists and 5 boards. Everyone else sucked tonight, Graham needs to put the ball on the floor. Their guards looked 10 times as athletic as our tonight.

@dylans I’ve wanted to go to KC for several years now for that. I’m hoping I can go to Wichita for the tournament games this year. It’s only an 50 minute drive for me.

@dylans Yes, 1998 would be the last W for us bs OU in FB. Ya I’ve been to a B.B. game every year since 09. I’m only 2.5 hours from Lawrence. It just too expensive to go a ton, we’ve considered relocating to Lawrence but my wife would hate me going to all sorts of games and we’d go broke lol.

@dylans I’ve never been to a KU loss in basketball (8-0),but never been to a win in football (0-6).

@HighEliteMajor that was a good game, Acie Law, that’s a name I haven’t heard or thought of in a long time. He hit a tightly guarded 3 on Rush to seal it.

@jayballer54 I bet if it’s a 30+ point win he gets in. It will be nice once Sam can go so then we don’t have starters on the floor in blowouts. You could play Teahan, Young, Sam, Mitch and Solinski. Right now we don’t have the bodies to sit our main players which isn’t good IMO.
