@Texas-Hawk-10 highly doubtful this changes the govern body. From what I read this would be illegal regardless of what the NCAA says. It will be interesting to see if the UNC, Duke, UK and KUs of the world have hidden their stuff enough. From my sources the NCAA pretty gives a pass to the big name schools as long as they stay in check.
Anyone ever catch the 30 for 30 film playing for the mob? I feel like we are right in the middle of that and wonder how far it goes. Here's your rat:
In U.S. Department of Justice documents obtained by ESPN, Louis Martin "Marty" Blazer III is the witness who cooperated with the FBI in its investigation of the coaches and other defendants.
Blazer, a former Pittsburgh financial adviser who was accused of swindling $2.35 million from five clients by the Securities and Exchange Commission and founded Blazer Capital Management, was accused of investing money into movies and entertainment ventures without his clients' knowledge between 2010 and 2012. As part of his plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney's office, Blazer agreed to plead guilty to securities fraud, aggravated identity theft, false statements and documents, and two counts of wire fraud, according to the Sept. 19 cooperation agreement.
One other interesting thing about this is that only Adidas is mentioned but 3 of the 4 schools are Nike andd the other is under armor.
Damn this is crazy, shocked to see this come out and not include Cal. We all know these guys are getting paid.
@mayjay I agree, it's everyone's right to protest.
My problem with this whole it's my right to this is a bunch of crap from the democrats and the NFL (I'm independent, don't like republicans ether). So democrats what about the right to refuse service to anyone like a say baking a cake for someone. The right to free speech is just fine to democrats, unless it's it Ben Shapiro at UCB or any conservative.Protesting is just fine if your standing on buildings shooting cops or burning cities to the ground. But it's not okay to protest in Charlottesville (disagree with why they protested but it's still their right). The NFL says Tebow should keep his beliefs to himself, they say the cowboys can't wear stickers to support murdered cops and players can't wear cleats in memory of 9/11 but according to the NFL they support freedom of expression so they are fine with the protest. Only supporting what you think is correct could be labeled as a number of things including fascism, racism and Neo-nazi. Last time I checked the court heard both sides of the argument, not just one. Next I didn't vote for Trump, he has said some troubling things forsure but I've never seen or heard of anything racist come out of his mouth. Clinton calling African American males ultra predators wasn't racist so what has Trump said that is? Most the issues with this country right now would much easier to fix if people worked together, instead of I'm right you're wrong narrative.
You know what sucks about having it September 30th, is that it's over a month til even the exhibition games start October 31st.
@Texas-Hawk-10 i agree with your ratings. @Kcmatt7 @justanotherfan We are pretty much in the same boat as a year ago, the teams we face from here on out are better than we are. That doesn't mean we can't pull a Texas from a year and have a team just over look us. I think having an off week this week before Tech is good and maybe gives us an outside shot to win, they have won some tight games against mediocre teams. The only other chances I see at a win are Baylor and ISU but I won't bet on anymore wins this year.
@jayballer54 our non conference SOS is really good, we gave away a win at Santa Clara but we have a solid team. Just need to put everything together with the new faces on floor.
@BShark Well, that's a good question Fizzou is 1-3 just like us. Their stats mirror ours in a number of ways, both teams beat an FCS club and haven't been closer than double digits to an FBS win. They are averaging 25 ppg to our 32 and giving up 40 to our 39 . One could argue that they have played a tougher schedule, which is true but neither team has competed at a high level. The last few years of the rivalry in football thanks to Gill didn't end well for us. Think of how bad we would've murdered them in basketball the past few years.
Forgot to tell everyone I ran into Mitch Lightfoot at Jefferson's when I was in town for the Central Michigan game. The place was swamped of course so I just said hello and shook his hand. Seemed liked a laid back quite guy, no way he was 6'8 lol
@approxinfinity agreed but 26 is fairly old for a guy like him that's not proven to get signed with dozens of 20 year olds or younger getting drafted each year.
Disappointed he hasn't gotten a decent chance in the NBA and with age I highly doubt he gets back to the league but playing pro ball over seas is better than not playing.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Ya I agree about Bender, once he gets his control worked out if he does, he could be a solid guy. I will give him credit for not taking sacks today, that was an improvement. Yes, idk how much longer til Stanley is healthy but at this point why not try it. We know any win from here on out is a long shot. Looking at his numbers from last year he isn't as good throwing as Bender but being able to run is nice.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I'll agree to disagree with you. It's the coaching staffs job to prepare the team both mentally and physically to play the game. On to the game, I don't know how to feel because we actually looked good and like we made progress several parts of the game. But at the same time we had some terrible play calling at times, the first of which comes to mind in the first half trailing 7-3, 2nd and 4 from WVU 46, 5 straight passes lead to back to back punts only 1 was completed and it's quickly 21-3. The offense really hurt themselves with the 3 turnovers including a pick 6. At the same time the offense is averaging 33 ppg (was 13 in 2015, 20 in 16), over 20 first downs and nearly 500 yards of offense. Half of their issues are finishing drives instead of settling for 3 points, turnovers haven't been great but last week was the first time in 16 games to have just one and we are on pace to turnover the 25 times this year comepared to 37 last year. Statistically speaking it's the best offense so far this year since Mangino was on the sidelines. Defensively I'm lost on how you return 6 guys and look this bad, I really want Clint Bowen to succeed but averaging 47 points to FBS is the same stuff that got Gill and his staff canned. All in all the game was closer than I thought it would be and the guys battled back to within a touchdown with less than 8 minutes to go. Herbert was great and the oline looks better every week just have to cut out the penalties.
@Texas-Hawk-10 no no penalties are on the players remember.
@Texas-Hawk-10 @Big-Clyde52 Guess coaches aren't responsible for their players discipline not like they practice or anything.
@Texas-Hawk-10 disagree but let's go hawks
@Texas-Hawk-10 because no other team in america besides kansas still has pre snap penalties like the plague 4 weeks in to the year.
@MoonwalkMafia excalty we had some really stupid play calls and penalties or we are prob winning right now. Feel bad for the players this is on the coaches.
What a half bye Herbert 191 yards and a TD on 19 carries. The lone bright spot.
@Texas-Hawk-10 the Weis teams wouldn't stop running the ball averaging 7 yards per carry in a 7-3 game. Single digit IQ bye our coaches, middle school level skill by them. I'm out for the day
This is the worst coached team in recorded history.
@Texas-Hawk-10 yep two very very costly penalties that prob keep us from leading by a touchdown or field goal.
Missed a key chanc to down it in the 5 there after passing for some odd reason. How can our coaches be so stupid?
@Texas-Hawk-10 yep and excalty what I said I'd, trouble is we have to start finishing drives. Kicking field goals from inside the ten doesn't win B12 games

Looks pretty neat, I was right about Booth lol.
The Kansas football team returns home Saturday to face West Virginia 11am on ESPNU. West Virginia looks pretty salty on offense which has been the norm in Morgantown since Dana Holgorsen came to town, averaging over 46 points per contest so far this season after a slow start against Va Tech to open up the year. But for the first since he's been there Dana has let someone else call the plays in OC Jake Spavital, which obviously has worked out well thus far. Former Florida QB Will Grier leads the team offensively but don't sleep on running back Justin Crawford whom has averaged over a 100 yards on the ground per contest. Defensively they are fairly youthful in terms of playing time. They were 60th against the rush last year and 104th vs the pass. Hopefully that's a positive sign that Bender and co can get something going and keep us from being run out of our own stadium. We have seen some teams come in asleep in these early games and allowed us to hang around or even win as we did in an 11 am kick against the Mountaineers in 2013. I personally would flip the script if I'm KU on offense, the run block looks to be better than pass block and Herbert showed what he can do last week in the open field. We do get some guys back from injury on the defensive side of the ball so hopefully that helps, it can't really hurt at this point. It will be interesting as a Tom Keegan article I earlier read on how many fans will show up? Oddly enough me and a friend had a similar conversation earlier in the week, we actually competed fairly decent at home last year, was in every game but one at half time and only had 2 double digit losses but still had low attendance. Obviously with one those already under our belt to a MAC team it is questionable that we even compete at home the rest the way we could dip down below 20k for the first time in over 20 years. My hawk to rock is Dorance Armstrong, I think he gets in the sack column and finally starts to play like we know he can. That being said I'm going West Virginia 59 Kansas 23. This game gets as ugly as Holgorsen let's it, we likely won't stop them much and realistically could give up 45 to 75 points in this as well as serval other contest this season.
Houston 52 Tech 42
OU 48 Baylor 23
Okie state 55 TCU 45
Washington 34 Colorado 20
Mississippi State 27 Georgia 17
KU vs West Virginia in my later post.
@dylans in the same boat, I have had dish and direct both in the past and will never go back to them. I currently have sling as well and even with the sports package that gets all of the ESPNs and Fox sports net, FS1 and FS2 its $45 a month. Just for the sports channels I want in satellite is over $65 a month and it goes up every year.
@Crimsonorblue22 that maybe the toughest job ever....replacing a Bill Self, Roy Williams or a Coach K. We did it once successfully.
@KUSTEVE I personally like the idea of toning back the SOS a bit. Maybe that's been our problem some of these years that we've had early March exits. We traveled too much and played too many tough games, that lead to the hell being beat outta us. There always is some team in the dance that played in a shit conference that makes a elite 8 or FF run. Heck look at wsu, maybe stomping 3/4s of the teams you play and resting starters is better going into the postseason.
@DoubleDD Ya, he mentioned this a few years back that he won't be around as long as the coach Ks and personally I don't blame him. Sometimes I kick myself for not taking more of a coaching approach earlier in my life, I've coached several years of rec league and MAYB ball from grade school up to high school. I had a lot fun but being away from family 3 or 4 nights a week when you work all day is tough. I can only imagine traveling cross country for games and recruiting like these guys do weekly. I would probably do the same if I was him. Tyler obviously just graduated from KU and believe Selfs daughter was married a few summers ago, I bet once a grandchild comes he'll want out and don't blame him. Hopefully he gets a few more NCs.
@JayHawkFanToo @mayjay Weis crippled this program so unbelievably bad SZ is one of the luckiest people alive to still have a job after that. Turner Gill never got a fair shot and could recruit pretty good. I always find myself thinking after the success Gill has had at Liberty if we would've made him get a new defensive coordinator and strength coach after year 2 would he still be here today? @Crinsonorblue22 not sure on the relative
@stoptheflop ya we I believe lost 4 starters on defense but look like a team full of freshmen on that side of the ball. I honestly think we are undefeated with last years defense and this years offense these first 3 games. Shoot if you'd told me we scored scored 95 points ( scored 83,last year, 75 in 2015) the first 3 weeks, a month ago I'd think we were at least 2-1. The defense just isn't fixable this year, they can improve their position but if MAC receivers are faster it's gonna be a long year.

Coach Beaty announced that Carter Stanley would play more in the coming weeks after getting in for 2 plays at Ohio last week. I think Bender has done a decent job thus far, he has completed 58% of his passes for 1030 yards to go with 6 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. My main concern with him is taking too many sacks. I'd rather see a few more incompletions and maybe keep some of the drives going bye not having a 3rd down with mile to go. As i stated after the game KU had more yards, first downs and time of possession than Ohio. Looking at that a guy would think they wouldn't have controlled from the get go like they did. The key is going to be finishing drives going forward. Our defense likely will average over 50 point give up in B12 play, we must score like crazy to even be in any ball game from here on out. I personally would like to see Stanley(or Starks if it's better) run the option with Herbert. I've never understood why we don't run the option, it is designed to help teams with weak offensive lines.
@mayjay I remember that game well, Sharp ran all over them guys and Ressing was Ressing as we cruised to a 34-7 win. Man that seems like a life time and a half ago to me. Some how we can get can to those days.
@dylans i think we have to give Beaty all of next year first but I'd take Brent for sure. Heard Leavitt on here a time or two and outside of a year or 2 dont think hes all that great, how about Tressel? Wasnt his ban up a few years ago? Some people think we should move the stadium, personally I love the setting.
No official word yet on details, I got word from Franks snap chat. Li-Ning is a Chinese company founded by former Olympic gold medalist Li Ning. Current players signed by the athletic apparel, shoes, equipment and accessories company include Dwayne Wade, Evan Turner and Glenn Robinson III. Kinda a cool deal IMO, their shoes seem reasonable priced and I definitely plan on having a pair if Franks name is on them.
Kinda interesting, I know some folks here think that adidas sets us back. Personally I think if it made that much difference we'd be back at nike. Also who his the booster? Booth?
Can the football players participate too?
@Kcmatt7 cool where do you bet at? I've always wanted to bet a $50 here or there to win extra cash. Believe it or not at my old job I we did this and I missed 6 games all year picking B12 and 2 top 25 games.
Another week has gone bye in the 2017. I thought this past week was an easy week and it proved to true as no one missed more than 2 games. The B12 looked decent, if a KSU could've done anything offensively we would've looked a little better. So much for Ertz for Heisman crap I heard after a 71% completion rate after 3 cupcakes (10-28 76 yards and 2 picks) lol. Here are the up dated rankings:
@stoptheflop after a perfect week is tied with @Texas-Hawk-10 at 23-6
I'm next @kjayhawks game behind at 22-7
@jayballer54 at 15-4
@Kcmatt7 at 14-5
@justanotherfan and @BShark with 13-6
With only 4 B12 games this week I thought we could pick some of the tougher match ups nationally this week. How about #7 Washington @ our old friend Colorado and #17 Mississippi State @ #11 Georgia?
Big 12 games: WVU @ KU, TT @ Houston, TCU @ Okie State and OU @ Baylor
@BShark lmao you win the internet today buddy
@justanotherfan I agree, I'm not saying firing him today just saying IMO he's failed to develop several players with 2 years worth of experience and will be fired in a few years.
@justsayn I've been following KU for sometime in all sports. I was at the central Michigan game. Kansas took plenty of risk hiring Beaty ( was a position coach, only one year of coordinatin) , if the pay is high enough a ton of coaches would come here. Also I like Beaty, he's a great guy and I'm sure he does work hard but they're no participation trophies in the real world especially college football. Just about every blog site has people calling for both his and Zengers firing. I also highly highly doubt he was offered to be an OC at Texas let alone at that pay. Beaty had no credentials to be a power 5 head coach let alone an OC. Any source to that? All my Texas fan buddies laughed and said your full of it (one of which has a booster for an uncle with inside info).
@stoptheflop I agree, Turner Gill is a great guy but not an FBS coach as well.
@jaybate-1-0 KU has had some of it better recruiting classes the past few years. We prob have 5 or 6 NFL guys on this team, Ohio and CMU maybe have 2 a piece. If you want to win at Kansas you have to develop talent end of story, KU has better classes than KSU almost yearly. Mason, Mangino developed guys. @stoptheflop Allen averaged 4 wins a year, better than Beaty, Weis and Gill, his worst year was better than the best of any of those coaches. But yes KU has some some talented guys and returned a fair number of guys, no excuses to get worse. I'm okay if Beaty gets next year with all but 5 guys returning on the 2 deep depth chart for next year and some good recruits currently still committed. If he can't win at least 3 games next year you got to fire him. I think it's just a matter of time, he's not the guy here I would be shocked to see him win more than1 more game while he's here, even if it is 2 and 3/4s more years. I don't see a new chancellor wanting to hire a AD and FB coach right away, this likely gives both another year.
@Texas-Hawk-10 you could be right we'll see, boy I feel better seeing the mildcats lost.
I think Beaty has to get another win this year to keep his job.
