Travis has to make some catches I know they are tough but if you get you hands on them, they have to brought in period

Defense better wake up here super fast, can’t give hurts 6 or 7 seconds to to throw it

Then the Eagles get 6 after one of the most laughable unnecessary roughness call in NFL history.

@dylans I think Josh has a better WR core than Mahomes had for much of the season. Just hard to comprehend a guy that’s 14th in pass yards, 7th in passing touchdowns and 24th in completion percentage getting MVP. Only stat he led the league in is QBR. Looking at the criteria you could say Mahomes got snubbed for along with a dozen other starters. Burrow was the best passer and Lamar was the best of passing and rushing by a very wide margin. Mahomes you could say after watching Wentz was pretty damn important to the chiefs.

Anyone else just looking forward to next season at this point? Baring a Danny and Miracles type of run next month we are just pissing in the wind at this point.

It wasn't until the summer of 2023 that the NCAA case was resolved. Hunter was the only high dollar NIL transfer during that time and we all know he came to KU because KU was the highest bidder for him. Transfers that cared about winning more were likely still leery of the NCAA hammer coming down on KU so this past transfer class was the first without the NCAA investigation influencing potential transfers and the 2025 class is the first high school class without the investigation influencing it.

Which means Self took a big swing and a miss, Self was thinking about building this team towards the end of last year, which I thought was a good thing but it turned out quite the opposite.

@rockchalkjayhawk ya I just think it’s ludicrous what the MVP has turned into, basically just a popularity contest of the top QBs in the league. You look at what Reid was able to accomplish this season and he got snubbed hard core.

I look at what the chiefs did and the obstacles they overcame and if Andy is fortunate enough to pull it off tomorrow it should be recognized as one of the greatest coaching jobs in NFL history.

Top 2 running backs coming into the season: Pop and CEH. CEH had his PTSD issues and didn’t play a snap. Pop broke his ankle and missed 75% of the year. They sign Perine a guy that didn’t make the broncos and Hunt mid season from the couch that couldn’t make the browns.

WR same story top 2 guys going into the season Brown is hurt first snap of preseason and Rice early in the year with an ACL. They sign JuJu whom was cut from the Patriots early in camp and have Hardman who was cut last season by Jets.

Defensively and special teams wise also had there fair share of injuries. Including Watson who is their second best defensive back in coverage. Charles Omenihu, Mike Dana, Jack Cockrane and Kicker Harrison Butker.

After all of that all the team did against a top 5 SOS was win their 7th straight divisional title, 7th straight AFC Championship appearance and have the best regular season record in Kansas City Chiefs history. All while getting everyones best shot hoping they could shut down the 3 peat truly remarkable.

@wissox to me the investigation is why took chances on several guys like Ochai who was ranked in the 300s before we offer, Braun wasn’t highly rated before we signed him. Now I have zero idea how it effect the guys we signed in the portal

@approxinfinity I agree the best way to get better at something is to do it. @Texas-Hawk-10 i don’t think is necessarily wrong either I would just love to see him play a little more. I’ll still stick with my guns the last two seasons: “we ain’t going out of the first weekend with KJ playing 30 plus minutes a game”. In a sense KJ is who he is and isnt any better statistically the last 2 years. He likely won’t get any better. Why not see if Flory can improve?

@approxinfinity Cal wouldn’t have recruited either player to begin with. Cal doesn’t and won’t develop talent IMO. I’m fine with taking chances on guys and coaching them up. Worked great with Graham, Mason and Ochai. But the other side of the coin is if it doesn’t workout (Juan and KJ) you don’t have to ride their coattails for 3 or 4 years.

@approxinfinity I’ll add in this simply, Kansas state players seemed happy to be there and excited to take to shots. Kansas (primarily Juan and Shak) looked terrified to shoot.

Edit: we also tried 3 bigs again for a stretch in the second half….. it also as anyone with a brain could predict didn’t work and led to open 3s for them.

@approxinfinity pretty much, like we didn’t have a scouting report at all. We had zero energy and even less heart somehow. Juando got into foul trouble early as in 3 fouls in about 8 minutes of playing time in the first half. 2 of which were just plain stupidity. We left shooters wide open consistently and just didn’t care to attempt to play anything that resembled defense.

@BShark I’m not sure there is an answer on this roster unfortunately

@BShark gotta play to improve, giving him minutes early in the season would pay huge dividends this point.

After today id probably transfer if I was Flory. KJ was great in the first half with 11 points and 4 rebounds. Second half 2 points and 1 rebound in almost exactly the same minutes. I’m fine with self riding the hot hand but KJ had zero business playing a ton in the second half. He needs to be Mitch Lightfoot 15 minutes a game

@Kcmatt7 I guess I’m just having doubts that this season is an outliner like you claim. Last year Bill Self had his only season at Kansas with 11 loses and a losing road record. This season is headed in the exact same direction with 7 losses and a 3-5 road record currently. I’m gonna highly doubt we win 3 of our next 4 on the road at this point. I guess it depends on how you want to look at it. With the 2018 season being vacated, we have made it out of the first weekend of the NCAAs a single time since then. One time that’s it, if you want to count 2018 still one time in 6 years isn’t good. That one time was by the hair of our chins tho the final result was good.

Ya idk 2 of his fouls we freshman level mistakes for 6th year guy so idk. Definitely would’ve helps to have on the floor more defensively I believe

@Kcmatt7 we are currently on our third in a row in terms of bad seasons. If this was an outliner I’d be fine with it. It’s becoming the new norm

It’s built to run through Hunter but he’s out on the trey line hoisting up bricks. But it finally paid off, he hit his first 3! Lol

I don’t like Hunt out there shooting 3s and I we know will miss Juan at times next season especially with Jackson not being able to practice or play for experience. But I won’t harp on Hunt a ton for this because so many of his teammates like Juan are too scared to shoot it. Juan was 0-1 from distance today but he could easily shot 5 of them. Dribble in circles and don’t look to score isn’t my idea of great offense. We have seen some great pass first point guards in this conference. Prime example tho I hate him is Doug Gottlieb. He didn’t look to score but averaged dang near 9 assists per game as a junior and senior. Im fine if Juan doesn’t shoot the ball but he’s need sit be getting 8 plus assists and completely shutting down the other side.

That’s my biggest issue there is zero fight or willingness to be at the game most nights. Just show up and what happens happens

@drgnslayr this team is arguably the softest of the Self era. The last two seasons will be less than .500 on the road

I don’t think we played super hard imo, they got about 85% of the 50-50 balls. We let up 50% shooting from the floor, that won’t win games on the road.

My question is for all the Self homers, Fran was talking about how KSU was ready to play and we weren’t yet again. Isn’t it a job of the coaches to get the players ready to go?

They run us out of the gym here smh. Switch, mismatch easy bucket. Same story the last 2 years. You can’t not switch all 5 players with two bigs when they have a stretch 4. It has literally never worked in recorded history

I really thought they snubbed Reid for coach of the year and Barkley for MVP. Congrats to Josh Allen 4th best QB statistically and wins MVP.

I’d be happy if Diggy came back for another season. He plays with good energy and is a good third down back type of PG. A pitcher with a good change up if you will.

I’m not a 100% sure if we will be a better basketball team next year but we will without question be not only more athletic but more talented. Looking about current team I only see one guy with true NBA potential and that’s Flory. Hunt prob will get drafted mid second round but I bet he spends a lot of time in the G league. Not sure anyone else get their name called obviously hoping Flory is here next season. Not sure if the international rules will allow it. I find myself wondering how good this team could be if we had Furphy instead of Rylen or AJ.

Next season obviously Flory I think has the chance to be a lottery pick with Peterson. Passmore also is a guy that reminds me of a Wayne Selden. By the time he’s a junior he’ll get some serious NBA looks. People forget we only signed 2 HS recruits this past off season. We have 3 committed so far pending on who hits the portal I’d like us to at least get one more HS kid and only one portal guy.
