@approxinfinity I’ll take the under on that bet, this team is more like the 2019 Dedric Lawson 10 loss team than the 2018 FF team that was loaded with NBA Guards that could shoot. That 2019 team is one of the worst in my lifetime which says a lot about Kansas basketball and how good we have been. I’m personally not super worried at this point. We will find out a lot vs UK
@approxinfinity the team as a whole hasn’t looked great defensively Juan and Kev have shown flashes but everyone is struggling to keep their man in front of them. This team lacks athleticism outside of Elmarko and KJ.
@jayhawks2010 Svi was scrawny as heck as a freshman as well. He’ll get there

@DanR probably a good attitude to have on the matter this early. I just laugh sometimes of the lack of basketball knowledge. Dickinson catches the ball with 2 or 3 guys on him and doesn’t get a shot up. Guards (except Kevin) no one within 8 feet of clank 18 footer, clank 3 pointer, repeat for for 2 games. Damn it Hunter do something lmao.
Dickinson isn’t the problem in the slightest guys. If we had shooters like Braun, Ochai or Gradey he would be fine. If I’m coaching against us I’m putting a zone out with 3 guys smelling his breath til someone makes shots.

The rebounding and lack of outside shooting was my biggest concern. Nick couldn’t hit the ground with his hat in 3 tries and is a terrible defender. If he ain’t hitting from 3 he need to get subbed out immediately.
Ranked teams seem to go die in Ames late in the season, can we buck that trend and stay in for more than a week?

I’m not sure we can take a ton from this game, we didn’t look to be hustling for 3/4s of it and the officiating was very one sided. My biggest worry isn’t the starting 5 but the bench looks very bad. I’m not a 100% Braun or Timberlake are D1 Caliber of guys for sure ain’t power 5 guys. We will take some losses early in the season with our schedule that I’m very certain of. Hopefully guys develop but I think this teams best chance is slowing down the game and limiting possessions.
I don’t like switching 5 with this group huge mismatches with KJ and Hunter trying to guard little guys.

It takes me a good bit to get into basketball anymore, I feel like the season gets earlier every year. Thanksgiving is when it really starts to me. Will probably watch some of todays scrimmage

@wissox Reminds me of my night in 2008 when we won the title. I was a college kid working at a Casey’s gas station so I had the game on a radio there at work. It was cheap little guy one that kept cutting out. I don’t think smart phones were a thing yet. I had a Nokia Flip phone with no internet at that time. So I ran out to my car to check the score and wasn’t good with a minute and a half to go. It wasn’t sounding well so I just went back in and wasn’t very friendly to the next few customers being honest. Then all the sudden my radio in the building started coming back in. I hear something about Doziers half court heave not going in and headed to OT. Then I went back out to the car to hear OT. I was yelling National Champs over the fuel intercom and the rest is history.

I tell you that win really makes the B12 wide open at this point. Probably end today with 5 one loss teams and two 2 loss teams.
I honestly wonder if we aren’t 8-0 with Jalen as our starter. We are lucky to have Bean in a lot of way. He probably could start at several power 5 schools if he transferred.
