CBās story is just unbelievable. Remembering him as a freshman to where he was when left here was a huge jump. Easily one of Self and Cos best developments. I honestly didnāt know if heād see the floor a ton early his career. Not to take anything away from the Ochaiās and Mason type players but you could always see their athleticism.
@DanR thatās not nice lol
@BShark whatās going on downtown? I havenāt had much time but to run up to games and back here the last couple of years. Iāve always enjoyed the burger stand, Free State and Jeffersonās. I think everytime I go to Jeffersonās I run into a basketball player a couple of summers ago Mitch lightfoot sat down and talked with us for a good 20 minutes. I did have a beer with Tarik Black at BWW one time after a game.
@Texas-Hawk-10 very true I think him off the bench like Moss is good.
Will interesting for sure, guy I talked there said no way Timberlake starts.
He was the freshman that I didnāt think fit in well. Young man probably just wants to play. Wont get on him too much
Really no question Kevin is better option than a portal guy. I do think the ball sticks on offense when heās in but it had gotten better by seasons end and played well the last month of the season. It is without question a championship or bust season now. We have a super tough schedule so we will find out how good we are early. Itās a lot of pressure but thatās why you want the older guys.
I think you have to give BS an A+ rating fir this offseason at this point. Returned 3 starters which is a key number from the stand point no team has won a NC since Arizona in 1997 without returning @ least that number of starters . I think we have good crop of freshmen coming in that a few could become superstars. Landed the the Number 1player in the portal, one of the best shooters in the portal and arguably the best defender in the portal. Kudos to our coach folks. Got one scholarship left too.
I called this one, good news for the week!
@rockchalkjayhawk Both Kevin and Jalen have not looked good at the combine. Jalen will stay in no matter what but I donāt see Kevin getting picked and smart money says heāll make more off of NIL here than a two contract or over seas. Obviously his choice and Iāll respect what he decides because you canāt base every decision off of money.
@Texas-Hawk-10 weāll just see what happens but he aināt starting on good team.
Biggest mistake of his life IMO, if him and Zuby go some place where they can play right away it wonāt be power 5. They have probably played their last NCAA tournament game if they aināt willing to go to a program and develop.
Iād bet a hefty amount he aināt gonna change, just be less vocal and probably not do radio interviews as much. My deal has always been if someone were to follow us around for an extended period of time, weād all say something that offends someone. Doesnāt make right or any less stupid to do on a radio show. But thatās just the world we live in right now. I tell people often just because something offends you doesnāt make it right or wrong (donāt think that pertains to this case).
@wissox exactly what I was thinking on the matter. As @RockkChalkk said it is always interesting to what is allowed and whatās not depending on whoās expressing it and in what form. I think its stupid of Huggins to say it and he should know better. I really canāt think of a good excuse for Huggins in this case.
@madmax @Texas-Hawk-10 KJ will play a huge role next season and get his minutes. He is too athletic to not be on the floor. Him not going against guys that are 5/6 inches taller all the time will help. Iāve gotten word he has been getting shots up like crazy so far this off season. I know heās listed at 6ā7 but standing by him at a game, Iād bet good money heās closer to 6ā5 than 6ā7. That being said he still may grow a bit more before heās done here.
I think you will see several minutes of the ole high low. Which I think is good because you donāt see it as much anymore so people have worked on it less defensively. I wanted us to upgrade our athletic ability and I think we have done that big time. I also have concerns about Morris but they is zero denying his athleticism and Jaskson looks to be a high flyer. It should lob city in Lawrence next season, 70% of our 2 point shots should be dunks!
It works I read online his Twitter blew up so bad it froze the page for a few hours.
@Gorilla72 doesnāt work sad face
We just went from a round of 32 exit to a NC contender folks.
Hell yes!!! So happy for Joel, hopefully people get off of KUs back now for not having a superstar in the NBA. Which is unfair when BS has been getting recruits in the triple digits to the league.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I lived in both and prefer peace and quiet to gangs and shootings. In terms of more to do, we were on food stamps when I was a kid living in the city so we had no money to go do anything anyways lol. Most the time we did the same thing as we did in the small town went to the park and shot baskets. Iāve got family that live in small suburbs of big cities thatās pretty similar to living out where I do. There is a big difference between inner city low income housing I experienced than a burb of with people with money. You are happy where you are and Iām happy where I am. Those are the important things buddy.
@BeddieKU23 DeSousa and Preston were the 2 biggest mistakes Bill Self has ever made. ESPN is Joke and I only watch the channel when KU plays on it.
@dylans as a manager thatās involved in the hiring process finding a person thatās below the age of 30-35 that will show up everyday and put in work is like a lunar eclipse. The American dream used to be work hard and build something for yourself. Now itās get rich as fast as you can on YouTube and pay someone to do it for you. I drive by empty parks everyday that was filled when I was younger with us kids playing(Iām only 35 years old). If I go out to eat donāt usually see any highschoolers working or at Walmart. I was up at 5 am folding and delivering papers at 9 years old as my first job and have been working in some capacity ever since. We have made it where a high percentage of kids donāt have to work to gain anything and then wonder why they donāt want to work. Mike Gundy had rant a few years back about how he had to teach kids how to do the simplest stuff nowadays because this generation is in front of the Xbox more than out playing sports and doing stuff. Just my 2 cents on the matter sir.
People are leaving California in droves for dozens of reasons. Weāve had 6 families from there move in our town. Iāve been working with a guy that moved here 3 years ago from there. The way he describes it is hell on earth if you are not a millionaire. Says gangs control the public schools. If you aināt making 150k a year as an individual you live below the poverty line. Traffic jams for hours, can spend 3 hours looking for a place to park just to name a few. He likes it here and made out like a bandit moving here. He lived in a 1000 square foot 2 bedroom house he bought for 375k in 2012. He was still paying on it but sold for 1 million, paid it off, bought 5 acres here, built a brand new house on it and bought his wife a new SUV. He owes zero dollars on all of it. Simply selling his California home barely surviving out there as a college grad he looks like a millionaire here lol. His only complaint is the property tax is high and goes up every year here. There he says it is grandfathered in to what you paid for it and never goes up.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Internet isnāt really an issue anymore in rural areas. My town of 600 people has fiber optic as do most in this area. My wife worked from home on a computer all day for 2 years during the pandemic. Her parents live 10 miles from anything and have fiber optic. I could see it being more of an issue back when you were younger tho. I hate living in the city personally, sirens, bass from cars and gunshots occasionally all hours day and night. Would never choose to raise my kids in such an environment. Small towns are being destroyed by Meth more than anything IMO. Itās too easy to make and sell. Mayberry has been dead for a good 20 years. I like my community pretty well and stuff like that is at a minimum.
@dylans thatās why he came out, a fight to have some relevance
The only victim in this is the IRS not getting their cut. If only the FBI spend as much tax pay dollars on something that actually makes a fiddle F***
UConn wins by 20 plus is my prediction unfortunately
Sean was one of the best special teams coordinators in the land a few years back at KSU. Tho he wonāt be in that role here, maybe it will help our disastrous special teams play. Their current D- Line coach and strength coach were once Jayhawks.
@mayjay I forgot about 2018 apparently
@wissox for sure Maui and the battle for Atlantis seem to be the big ones. The NIT is still there just donāt believe we have played in it since Roy was here.
Not to change the subject yet why havenāt we played in the menās preseason NIT in so long?
Great win for the ladies, obviously wanted them to get a second straight NCAA bid but this with hopefully pay dividends for the program getting more practice for the younger ladies. Kinda the same thought process for the younger guys on the football team getting an extra month to practice.
@BShark experience pays off I think, a ton of upperclassmen on these final four teams. This year I think our starting 5 was good enough at times to make it but the bench was just full of swings and misses unfortunately.
Glad to see Texas lose, I wouldāve been fine to extend the B12s FF and title game streak but F*** Texas ride on out shorthorns.
@BShark I think KU having a core of guys that had been around for 3-4 years or 6 lol with Mitch was huge. David and Jwil were the lone top 50 recruits on that team.
Rooting for San Diego I like Dutcher, think he is an underrated coach and Fisher was out there as well.
Quotes like this is exactly why I cheer against them and why their coach calls them out for allowing us to live rent free in the their heads. My feed was blown up last night with staters asking when KU plays.I had to explain that in the tournament there are 3 national runner ups with no third place game and everyone goes home with the same bag of treats. Iād rather have our season than theirs because we at least won one conference title compared nothing for them.
They said coming in UConn had the largest margin of victory in tournament history at 21 ppg, that looks to go up even more. They havenāt even been challenged at this point.
I think I wouldnāt mind see Mark Few steal a title here. Doesnāt look good for them currently but I think he deserves one.
@mayjay the E8 game is the only round Self has a losing record in as KU coach. I think itās one of the hardest games to win between a short turnaround and you know youāre playing a good team regardless of seed. If a team can make the elite 8 they can make the FF. Sadly the round of 32 is Selfs second worse win % getting dangerously close to .500. BS now has 8 first weekend losses as our head coach, which to be honest is ok if we get a few more titles I can live with.
@mayjay @Crimsonorblue22 Iām just happy to see an argument that Iām not in lol
@mayjay they did after they won the B12 in football
Itās funny to me because KU chokes every year according to them. 2018 they lost to an 11 seed in the E8 and now this year a 9 seed. If the roles were reversed theyād be blowing up the twitter and Facebook feeds talking smack.
Anyone care to join in Manhattan tomorrow? I figure I save time playing golf there, everyone knows they only have 14 holes, cause they canāt make the final four.
Hell ya!! FAU fear the birds
Gotta make the free ones
Come on FaU!!
@Texas-Hawk-10 yep lost by 2 in Football either way hoping the ladies have a little better outcome
@Jethro @BShark there have been documented shady dealings in college basketball since the 1951 CCNY team. The difference is players getting paid, shaving points and academic corruption. Iām glad Bama is out but comparing such to someone being murdered is apples to oranges to the aforementioned stuff.
