So give your score this weekend • Aug 30, 2023 11:53 PM

I say 41 to 13 as a score at this point. I’m going to have to see our rush defense improve before I think we are capable of holding an opponent to single digits. The last time we held an opponent to below 10 was Rhode Island in 2016, an FCS team that won 4 games in 5 years.

Missouri state has a very capable running back in Kstate transfer Wright. They played both Arkansas and Okie State tight the previous two seasons. But have a new coaching staff and tons of new faces on the roster.

The two biggest things I need to see Friday is the defense line dominating against a lower tier offensive line. If that doesn’t happen this season ends up in the same place as last seasons with the offense having to keep us in games. The next big issue is the special teams. The unit last season was a J-O-K-E in all caps as it’s written to put it nicely. 15, yes 15 total punt return yards in 13 games. A punter that couldn’t kick the ball more than 40 yards down the field leading a net of less than 36 yards making me wonder why we punted half the time. The place kicking wasn’t any better at 7/13 for the season while only making one kick longer than 37 yards (40 season long). I’m very pleased with edition of Sean Snyder to our coaching staff not only did he have several units ranked in the top 5 in the country at both KSU and USC. But it upset a lot of mildcat fans, I’m always game for that. Sean himself was an all American punter in the 90s for KSU. Ready for Friday!

2023 Offensive Line • Aug 30, 2023 10:38 PM

@FarmerJayhawk having an extra day will hopefully help prepare for Illinois not sure it makes a huge difference but I’ll take any advantage we can get. I don’t have a good feeling about that game in the slightest. The Nevada game should be a beat down.

I guess the Big question is this week ? • Aug 28, 2023 05:29 PM

@dylans you ever take a nap so good, you miss the bus but it’s Saturday and you’re 40. Haha

2023 Offensive Line • Aug 28, 2023 02:52 AM

The offense is good enough to win 10 games, the question is if the defense and special teams are. I’m personally gonna miss Lonnie running around on defense other that we needed a ton of improvement.

Marcus Adams • Aug 28, 2023 02:38 AM

Have to believe at this point he is some sort of problem child.

Sox game shooting. • Aug 26, 2023 08:45 PM

@wissox Glad you are okay, sure sounds like an accident. Article I read said 2 people were hit and no altercation was involved but it doesn’t sound like they know who did it at this point.

Semi Bad Look for KU Athletics • Aug 24, 2023 03:01 AM

I’d give a pass if they spelled Wolves not Wolfs lol

Stadium Renderings • Aug 16, 2023 01:37 AM

Maybe this a stupid question but would any of the original stadium be left? I’ve always like how the outside looks like the Roman Colosseum.

Puerto Rico! • Aug 07, 2023 05:27 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 I don’t disagree with your strength assessment. I don’t mean to sound like he’s a bad athlete because he’s not but we have several NBA ready guys athletic wise that he ain’t in the same zip code as. I’m 6’1 guy with about 6 inches less wing span than Juan and I dunked just about every single day during basketball season as a junior and senior in highschool, he ain’t out jumping many on this roster bud.

Puerto Rico! • Aug 07, 2023 05:20 PM

@DanR Kev isn’t a national champion

Puerto Rico! • Aug 06, 2023 11:42 PM

I was given a pretty hard time last season for saying Juan is very limited athletically. I do really like him and think his IQ and long arms help him with what he lacks physically. That being said do a 3/4 court sprint, vertical jump and shuttle drill with everyone on this team. I’d bet a 100k Juan is in the bottom 30% of all 3.

Puerto Rico! • Aug 05, 2023 11:57 PM

@jayballer67 I don’t disagree with you assessment but I think these games are like glorified pick up games at the YMCA. Not a ton of defense (besides Juan taking two charges, go Juando!) just want to have fun and bond as a team.

Puerto Rico! • Aug 05, 2023 11:26 PM

@mayjay 92-87 Kansas win

The Big 12 conference • Aug 05, 2023 10:15 PM

@bskeet I think the football and basketball match ups will be good. The extra travel cost is what will be interesting especially for the non money making sports.

The Big 12 conference • Aug 05, 2023 04:34 PM

Been wild few days for sure, not sure I love all the changes across several conferences. But at the end of the day I’ll give Brett Yormark credit for being aggressive in all of this. Lots of folks thought this conference was going to implode the last few summers.

And then we have these discussions • Aug 05, 2023 03:11 AM

So is the Pac 12 officially dead? Or will they merge with the mountain west?

Puerto Rico! • Aug 03, 2023 10:01 PM

I didn’t get to watch, listen for a bit. Seems like it got outta hand quickly. How did we look?

The Big 12 conference • Jul 31, 2023 02:54 AM

@dylans the radio used to be great here and there wasn’t a delay so you could watch while listening to Bob and Max. I maybe biased but they are simply two of the best to ever do it. Hanni is great dude just don’t like his voice or his ā€œrock chalk it upā€ phrase.

@Texas-Hawk-10 who knew we’d be talking about cookware on here haha. The main reason I keep driving my 05 Chevy 225,000 miles

I actually do think appliances are crap these days, bought my first washer and dryer used from my mom that was 20 years old and they lasted another 10 for me. I’ve had (8 years) 3 sets since then, 10 years is about max on them nowadays. I had to put a heating element in the old dryer once but the trouble now is the parts you need to repair anything cost as much as a new machine. Last dryer needed a control panel $415 for a new one or go buy another new dryer for $520. I’d say it’s not normal for stuff to last 50 years but we never replaced that stuff often growing up. My in laws built their house new in 1982 with all new appliances. Guess what they all still work and they won’t buy new for the same reason.

@FarmerJayhawk average air fair was $49 back then. I’m just saying that one guy’s opinion that nothing was better isn’t factual. Merely his opinion, if you like Coke and I hate it does it mean I’m wrong or you are? Should the rest of the population just agree with you for the sake of it? Now that you are back in Lawrence I need to come have a beer with you.

@FarmerJayhawk I don’t think the players were starving any lol

@FarmerJayhawk as the Big Lebowski would say ā€œthat’s just an opinion manā€. They’re definitely things that are better these days but also things that are worse. We are all sports people here, you could work a minimum wage job for a day and buy a World Series ticket in 1973 now you’d have to work for nearly a month at minimum wage to afford a ticket.

@nuleafjhawk yep exactly how I am and what I was getting at the other day.

TBT • Jul 24, 2023 02:36 AM

Ya the team just looked to run outta steam at the end of the first half. Not surprising with the age of our guys but they got some wins this year so I’m not disappointed. As I mentioned before our guys that are the same age as most of other teams are playing in the NBA right now.

TBT • Jul 22, 2023 10:51 PM

Heck ya, I think the offense flowed much better with Tyshawn out there. We settled for a ton of 3 pointers but made a decent percentage of them. Really looked to me like our guys ran outta gas in that one.

TBT • Jul 20, 2023 12:44 PM

I watched a little bit of it. Nice to see TRob, we don’t hear much from him these days. But the guy still has his game. Still think if he was born 20 years earlier he wouldve been great in the NBA. Defense was optional at best, lacking a PG and outside shooting was abysmal. Some stuff to work on before Mizzous team. I had shockers giving me jazz the way the last time went for our guys. I just laughed and said our Best guys are playing in the NBA little bro.

Thinking of my favorite KU dunks since I’ve been watching.

raef lafrentz vs Mizzou 1997

Kenny Gregory in 1999 not sure who it was against

Thomas Robinson vs Baylor 2012

Jamari Traylor vs Texas I think in 2014

Wayne Selden vs Baylor 2017

Probably my top 5

@approxinfinity easily one of my favorite moments was @BShark drunk getting after @jaybate-1-0 on here haha classic

Celebrity Encounters at KU • Jul 14, 2023 05:19 PM

@wissox that’s pretty cool bud

Celebrity Encounters at KU • Jul 14, 2023 02:46 AM

@benshawks08 well I’m glad it works for you. My only question is would you pass a lid that never came to your class, was a star football play that your superintendent said he would fire you if not?

Celebrity Encounters at KU • Jul 13, 2023 11:14 PM

@FarmerJayhawk I think the 90s were peak humanity lol

Celebrity Encounters at KU • Jul 13, 2023 10:48 PM

@benshawks08 more evidence if you want is to read the book the blindside that’s more factual than movie there is a lot of talk about the teachers just passing Micheal to not create problems. To teach anyone anything first they have to be willing to show up and learn. I’m guessing you don’t teach in the inner city where I spent some of my youth and my wife taught.

Celebrity Encounters at KU • Jul 13, 2023 10:41 PM

I don’t think this thread is too bad @benshawks08 you also have to understand just because you’ve had that experience doesn’t mean everywhere it’s the same experience, even when I was in school several good athletes never showed up but still played every Friday night. @Texas-Hawk-10 I definitely think the cost of living is part of it. Some it is the parents just giving stuff without earning it. If I wanted something as a kid I bought it. My parents gave me some food and a twin mattress on the floor. So I started delivering papers at age 9. Kids now days either don’t work or show up late and don’t actually work while there. I’ve got a brother that manages a wal mart in North Carolina, tells me the exact same thing I see here. Unwilling to work and on phone all day. Maybe y’all think the future is in good hands with our youth and worlds headed in a good direction. That šŸ’Æ fine and you are welcome to have that opinion, I just don’t see it.

Celebrity Encounters at KU • Jul 13, 2023 12:33 PM

@FarmerJayhawk parenting definitely is some the issue for sure. Some it is the school system and society in general. My wife was a school teacher for 10 years and wasn’t allowed to fail kids that never came to class or turned in any work. Both parents having to work in todays world is part of the issue. Accountability is lacking right now on all fronts.

Celebrity Encounters at KU • Jul 12, 2023 10:29 PM

@FarmerJayhawk I just call it like I see it buddy, this generation is softest and laziest. Hard truth

Celebrity Encounters at KU • Jul 12, 2023 05:31 PM

@wissox ā˜ ļø hahahaha

Celebrity Encounters at KU • Jul 12, 2023 03:15 PM

@FarmerJayhawk as I said got a little off topic, if thats what you took out of my post my apologies. In no way am I defending that if it was said by Mangino. Taking and giving a butt chewing are different than that. I’d promise you sitting behind KUs bench like I have before HCBS has said some stuff you wouldn’t like.

Celebrity Encounters at KU • Jul 12, 2023 12:34 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10 hey you could be a 100% right buddy. Obviously the ā€œsend you back to the street to get shot by your homiesā€ is pretty racist if he actually said that.

Celebrity Encounters at KU • Jul 11, 2023 10:21 PM

The Mangino mess is arguably one of the worst handled by administration in college athletics. To me if it was really that bad, they should fired him and had Warinner be the interim head coach. Sweet Lou is the worst athletics director in Kansas history and Wichita State history only people worse IMO are the one’s involved in sex related scandals. Mangino is a hot head period, not really any argument on that front. Do I think most good coaches are? Yes, is Bill Self? Most likely yes if you read beyond the streak and the KU books that I have. Zero question that front as well several things Self has done could get a less valued coach fired. My saying is ā€œwinning assholes are okay, losing assholes are goneā€. I had 2 close friends on that final KU football team. They both told me the offense loved Mangino. The defense hated him. I remember the likes of Sharp, Meier and Ressing defending him. Some kids can’t handle being yelled at or any accountability whatsoever. Never had a coach yelling at me bother me too much. Heck my middle school football coach would grab your face mask and chew you out. Take his metal whistle and beat you on the helmet with it while cussing you out. I always liked him, he lived 2 doors down from me til a couple of years ago. We live in a very soft world these days. Easy times create soft people, hard times create strong people. The tide will tip again the way we are headed. Being a hiring manager getting anyone below the age of 30 to show up on time and not be on their phone 3/4s of the day is nothing short of a miracle. I’m getting off topic lol

Celebrity Encounters at KU • Jul 11, 2023 02:33 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10 you are younger than me lol. I’ve met several of the players over the years just being in town from time to time. Mitch Lightfoot came and said hi to me and my family at Jefferson’s downtown one summer. I also said just a hello to Devonte there. Had a beer with Tarik Black BWW down town after a game. The rest of the guys I met while my niece and nephew were getting autographs after the game. Sat next to Kirk Hinrich folks I think at the same game I met Tarik one time. Ran into Sherron several times at games.

Sanders and the Buffaloes • Jul 11, 2023 02:26 AM

@Kcmatt7 interesting take, they have been bad but not to KU Beaty level winning no more than 3 games in a year for over a decade. They won 10 games in 2016 and 4 or 5 every year between but last season.

Sanders and the Buffaloes • Jul 11, 2023 02:22 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I haven’t heard anything about his health since he was on a scooter

Sanders and the Buffaloes • Jul 08, 2023 09:26 PM

There has been a huge about of hype since Deion Sanders has been named the head coach of our former conference rivals. I’m just curious everyone’s take/predictions for this season. I personally think they’ll be lucky to win more than 4 games this year. I think he did solid at Jackson state getting several blue chip players to commit to the lower ranks of D1 football. But as Lee Corso would say not so fast my friend. It’s tough to turn around a program that down ridden in one offseason. I also question how good of a coach he really is. Had several 3-5 star players going against players with 1-2 or zero stars every week. The coaching is also considerably better on the other sideline once you hit the power five level. I see absolutely no way he is still coaching there in 4-5 years. Either it blows apart and he’s fired or they actually are good then he leaves for a SEC job in that time frame.

2023 Season Predictions • Jul 06, 2023 11:45 PM

The defense and special teams were absolute garbage last season. I personally think Borland’s seat should be pretty warm at this point. We have guys getting drafted and signed as UFAs but rank in the bottom 20% of CFB in every nearly statistical category defensively. I’d be happy with a bowl win, 6-6 is what I personally predict at this point. Being super optimistic I’d say 8-4 at best. This is a good schedule and lots of folks are predicting an easy win against Illinois. I’d bet a hefty amount that’s a very tight game. I’m excited to see what we can do and hope to make it to a game for the first time since 2019.

I remember getting ridiculed for saying Black of Arkansas was the best athlete on the court and a lottery pick during our game with them 😳

ZACH CLEMENCE COMING BACK? • Jun 22, 2023 10:07 PM

It’s stinks because Udeh had a high ceiling. If he thinks he’s OAD caliber he needs a drug test. Can’t shoot from more than 3 feet away from hoop, that sure translates in the NBA today lol. I heard he asked for guaranteed start and more NIL money. Not sure how many times Ive mentioned issue with getting the wrong advice from the wrong person here. Someone’s daddy or AAU coach says you’re MJ or LeBron. Then you get woke up by the real world slapping you in the face.

ZACH CLEMENCE COMING BACK? • Jun 20, 2023 10:31 PM

He could learn big time from Hunter, similar builds from when he showed up to Michigan
