Bad shooter's rule: try straight on and hope for banks

TEXAS......Hold 'em
See what I did there?🤭
Makes a flop warning really significant....
Great KU fast break combos: Hinrich to Collison, Mason/Graham to Doke.
Harris to Mitch, not so much...
@benshawks08 Better stay out of Denmark.
We could do it on Zoom. But setting it up might be like herding cats...
Wrong stripper!
@approxinfinity Someone recognize it?!
Those bench players "who could be starting" elsewhere (excludes Mitch) have 3 TOs, 3 fouls, 5 pts, 0 rebounds, 1 assist, 0 blocks, and 0 steals. Not gonna break through like that!

My posts today are sponsored by my new book Medical Marijuana-How to Make PTSD Fun Again.
I assume that is a joint project? What is the key?
His claims about ref bias at AFH are about as valid as the dozens of posts here every game whining about all those horrible calls that always go against KU.
Many really good teams. Just few if any great teams. The transfer portal helps avoid stocking elite players, who easily could be starters on 98% of teams, on the bench as subs. So very few teams do not have a dropoff when the starters go out. No UCLA 2nd string 1st round draftees any more, a la Sven.
@BeddieKU23 But that is impossible with those 2 shitty guys starting instead of a guy who had one good game! OMG, HCBS should be fired for all those crappy lineups!!!
@jayballer67 His desire to get things done perfectly gets in his own way.
It is the difference between acting and reacting "instinctively," and planning all your actions trying to anticipate and avoid all possible problems. We can't really think and plan our actions as fast as a sport like basketball requires. A sport like curling, in contrast, is one that allows for slow deliberate planned movements. (Timely reminder: curling will be happening a lot this month, the best part of winter sports!)
In writing, we always called it "perfection paralysis" but coaches and athletes refer to overcoming it as feeling like the game has slowed down.
Dave seems to plod at times, and I think it happens when he is just overwhelming his reactivity with too much thinking about it.
My wife says I'm cute but we all know she's crazy...I mean, she married me....
In Dave's defense, two of his passes looked like he was passing to where the guard could get open if they moved toward that spot. Not sure about the last one!
I remember Herb Nobles was a great leaper...on offense. Leaped sideways on D. Literally saw him have five shooting fouls in a game where they were all made baskets.
@BShark They all come up as page not found
Izzo vs Danny
Fun watching Izzo get mad on E2
And for anyone who got bent out of shape by HCBS's comments after Saturday, this win is the result of caring more about this game than worrying about that one.

Can't wait for #Reacher series. Read all of Lee Childs' books♨️
See the movies?
I have, and they are good (1st is better). The new Reacher is a big guy, just like the books. Approved by Child, who actually also approved little Tom Cruise.
Let's keep trashing Dave. Makes reading this thread so much fun. Especially the weight comments. Guy worked his tail off and 3 years later still "fat" jokes. Jesus. Good bye.
@jayballer67 Pat looked like he did at the beginning of the year--like he had tunnel vision for his first choice receiver and went into scramble mode instead of checking off and going to #2 and #3 immediately.
After the almost perfect first half, I think he got spooked by the drops. Looked like they tried to go deep too often, taking his dumpoffs in the flats away.
The Chiefs under Mahomes have come back far more than was reasonable to expect. They will try to adjust in the offseason to make the success sustainable. It will be interesting to see if the powers that be think the problems are more on D than O. I think we need another fast LB and a fast safety (sorry, Dan).
I would also invest in some vector physics classes for tacklers so we can cut this crap out of running straight at the spot where a guy catches the ball rather than allowing for the guy to actually be wanting to go forward. That, and maybe a few hundred tackling dummies...
This reminds me of my time at Michigan. Spoiled fan base for certain!
Geez, everyone, it is just a game. No need for fratricide in the Kingdom.
Yeah, the Chiefs blew it, but I disagree about Cincy--they took advantage of the chances KC gave them. That is a spectacular QB and receiving corps, and should be respected. They didn't stop trying, and that is why we lost.
What is often forgotten is that the sun still rose the day after Mighty Casey struck out.
@rockchalkjayhawk Maybe in addition to the players being gone they are waiting for a generation of fans to stop caring....or die off.
This crappy coaching job still has managed somehow to go 17-3 against the hardest schedule in the nation.

There won’t be a single player still on the roster at KU from when this happened.
Players will have enrolled, graduated, and gone on Soc Security...like Mitch is now.
@wissox It was certainly weird when they patted my head....
@Crimsonorblue22 Which of us lands Ann-Margret?
He was touted #1 after a couple games, especially for ball-handling, then struggled a couple times and reality set in waiting for more consistency across the board. If I recall correctly.....
@Gorilla72 heh heh heh heh heh (repeat 8000 times)
Wait, donut? Sorry, not K9 dog! 😁

@wissox Then he shouldn't have gone to college. No one is forced to go, but if you do, you should stick it out and actually pretend to be a student. (We have had this discussion before.)
@wissox said in Joel Embiid:
When they got Simmons I thought they were going to become a vicious two headed monster that would run roughshod over the league for a decade, and adding aging veterans who wanted to play for a winner. Really a shame to see.
When they got Simmons I thought they were getting a me-first narcissistic idiot who would abandon any pretense of caring about being on a team.
I win!

I can honestly say I had never heard Dr. Naismith speak before. Aside from the lack of running water and electricity, disease, pestilence, the dust bowl, the stock market crash, the depression, WWI and the rise of communism, it really was a simpler time.
And men were men, and none of that concussion-free football crap!

@mayjay Man...then I guess it's gonna be hard for me to unload my Jeff George and Vinny Testaverde jerseys. Make me an offer?
I had a conversation with a 10 year old boy once (circa 1991-2) who just idolized Vinny despite ... well, despite Vinny. No stats, no team records, no miserable performances could break that allegiance. Vinny looked cool, and that was that.
If you had a Vinny TBay jersey, well, now you're talking...
@focojayhawk said in Chiefs playoffs thread:
The reality is that if you’re not a QB, no one puts wins and losses into that discussion.
Precisely as it should be. QB is the leader of the offense, which on a win must have more points than the other team. QB handles 95 to 99% of snaps, is charged with reading the defense and adjusting play calls if needed, and has long been considered the general on the field. RBs and the other positions do not handle the ball or make decisions on virtually every play.
Would you prefer QB reputations to be divorced from whether they win games or not? I can hear those discussions in my nightmares.... "Allen threw more TDs in the games they played, so he was greater than Mahomes." "But Mahomes led the Chiefs further in the playoffs!" "That doesn't matter--the QB does not deserve to be considered the winner, so Allen can't be the loser."
It may seem unfair in a particular game to give a great passer the loss, but that is no different than a pitcher who loses a no-hitter and the game because of a run scoring on an error.
I think people understand the difference between a great passer like Dan Marino, who played the position of QB at a high level, and Joe Montana or Tom Brady, who have lots of Ws in Super Bowls.
How else other than winning should QBs be evaluated since ultimately winning often is most often produced by excellence in leadership, not only good passing?
@Jethro Bwahahahahaha!👺
Who here is tired of learning the Greek aphabet?
His feet do look like they could be barely touching right when he was hit, but I think his landing certainly wasn't complete. Bad call because they saw it wrong, but at least that explanation makes sense even if they got the timing wrong.
@FarmerJayhawk said in Chiefs playoffs thread:
I feel cheated out of seeing what Allen would’ve done the next drive
Never so happy to feel cheated!!!
@nwhawkfan It was a report. Out, in conc protocol. Happened right when Reed got hurt.
Out for game, in conc protocol.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I was only speculating over why what @nwhawkfan reported would not be reviewable, not asserting that the refs were right if they did make such a call. I thought my 2 tongue in cheek absurd explanations showed that I think the refs must have erred (sorry, @BeddieKU23, if my facetiousness did not come through).
@jayballer67 said in Octagon of Room Game Thread:
anything under two minutes re viewable - -these idiots didn’t even look
I don't think what @nwhawkfan wrote would be reviewable. If they thought it was a non-shooting foul, they can't review that and then change it to a different foul.
@BeddieKU23 Maybe they thought it wasn't reviewable, so they huddled and "determined" that it was a 2 pt attempt.
In all seriousness, the most reasonable suggestion is that they called the foul prior to the shot as @nwhawkfan wrote.
