So predictable, every freakin' time a team with a lead decides to not try on offense. The defense has given up 42 pts and your strategy is to hold them?
Did KU get tackling advice from the Chiefs?
@wissox I had a jumpy bad connection too. Was streaming ESPN+ to my phone and then mirroring on my TV. Here's how it got better.
I switched the mirroring to send it to my Roku device. Got a smooth connection but at a lower resolution.
The streaming and the mirroring at highest resolution both go through my wifi. I suspect it used too much bandwidth, and used less when streaming to the Roku. I am going to check my streaming and mirrorring settings on my TV sometime.
I will also see if I can get the ESPN app loaded directly on either my TV or the Roku. That may help.
If you can't say it, why refer to it? HEM used to do that, too. It is just annoying.
I think you are both letting your own dislike of him, and the KU history with Duke, color your perceptions of what American in general think. I have met dozens of people here in S Carolina who seem very mystified when I have talked negatively about the guy Jaybate called "Ratface."
I know nothing, but would guess it falls to 0 if we get blasted in sanctions.
First time I have heard of a grad student doing it, but I guess he must be in a 2-year program?
Well, maybe, since I'm not sure what level of PhD that Methusalah Lightfoot was working on when he red-shirted.
@nuleafjhawk Aw, shucks, just my hwlpful nature. I keep putting my name out there for lottery winners to contact if they need help avoiding such distractions.... No one calls, so I assume that just knowing I am here is a big help.
First time Navy beat a Top 25 team since David Robinson was a Midshipman in 1986.

@nuleafjhawk I can do that, but my conscience would trouble me knowing how distracted it would leave you!
Hope it gets really hot.!Screenshot_20211109-104532_Chrome.jpg ↗
@nuleafjhawk Ridiculous to think Mahomes is not focused on fb. He is getting used to staying in the pocket with this new line after a career of improvisation when breaking the pocket and being a threat to run.
The play calling has been the issue, I think, as KC tries to get a running game, along with a seeming inability to come up with 15 yard crossing routes for the receivers to run.
Strange that Ed Budde, OL, and Fred Arbanas, TE, are posing in exactly the same position that looks more like the NBA logo than anything football. Painful to think of Budde, or any OL, making a cut like that...ACL cries out for relief!
@BeddieKU23 said in URPing in the Hollow Halls... (no... not "Hallow!"):
The NCAA said Evans lack of cooperation played a part in the punishment handed down.
Was he still at OSU when he didn't cooperate? That gets imputed to the school if he was.
Always fun to see your contribs!
I think mandatory jail time of a weekend to a week should be a minimum penalty by the system, and schools should have a policy of suspension for a month for 1st offense and for a semester during the season for a second. There is a subtext in all these cases about how someone could be damaged in their future.. Tough.
I have never known anyone who "got away with it" (i.e., charges dropped) to not continue having alcohol problems.
But I have noticed that people who have had friends or relatives die or get injured due to DUI are less forgiving.
Too much excellent programming on streaming for us to go back to high tier cable.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Unfortunately, here it would run @ $300. Local monopolies suck.
@wissox I hate my 4 remote controls!..LG TV, Sony receiver, cable box, and Roku. And soon our 1 year promotional cable package will go up by $85, so we will be going into streaming more extensively. Peacock, Paramount, HBO Max, and probably Fubo. I guess it's time for my 4 month ESPN+ subscription, too. Of course, Amazon Prime for more than shipping!
What a mess!
@wissox Not all cable systems carry or offer (or have capacity to carry) all the ESPNs. Many of us have to buy either a higher level or a sports package to get News or Classic.
Paying a la carte for an additional ESPN service is precisely whay many consumers are clamoring for--paying for what they want and not a bunch of other crap. I will be dead by the time cable service let you select everything, but in the meantime I will be happy anytime I can just buy -- or not buy -- individual channels for streaming.
Most importantly, having a high level of paid viewership for KU does can only help KU and the Big 12 to have more access as sports broadcasting contracts and schedules get developed.
Zips got zapped...
Rated #8 but notes he can improve even more when the game gets easier for him.
@BShark Looking at that list, it kind of sucks to see that 12 of the top 30 either transferred after not doing much here, or left under a cloud, or never even played at KU.
Huggins is just hoping to disguise his abject fear of losing to a Cinderella in the first round.
Well remember, he didn't miss a single 3 pt shot last year!
🤔

I believe Gruden when he says there is "not a racist bone" in his body. Pretty sure racism and all the other hateful isms come from the brain.
And good riddance!
@approxinfinity I think they drink a huge amount at times, maybe not constantly. Witness any SB winner's parade!
None of the 18 former NBA players indicted for scamming the NBA players' health plan were KU players.
Remember, he lied about the circumstances, and lied about having just been standing there innocently when the woman came up to him for a supposed 7 second interaction to which he said he did not respond (disregard that ass groping). And he had gone there when he bailed on his 0-4 team for the flight home just when any good coach would have provided some needed leadership.
This is a guy who wrote a famous book on owning your response to events--i.e., taking responsibility.
@AsadZ A bigger question is whether he actually can stay sober and out of trouble.
I saw this and my mind immediately went to wondering if this is Reid trying to save someone after his sons' tragedies.
Could have won. Not "should" have won. That term only applies when you dominate the other team and lose because of a bad break. Giving up 253 yards rushing and over 460 yds overall = "should have lost".
It looked like KC had read too many of their news clippings.
@jayballer67 Why are you resurrecting this thread???
I am too old and too uninterested!
So far, kc defense is like wet tp
@Marco said in In other news...:
I think that he was playing. As I tend to do, from time to time.
Thank you for noticing my tongue stuck in my cheek!
@justanotherfan One pretty unique thing is lots of Pacific Islander exposure with BYU.....
@Marco It was really hard to tell exactly what they were doing!
@Marco said in South Dakota:
@stoptheflop I think they're doing it out of necessity, to try and throw the D off. The staff knows that our o-line sucks.
Possibly. I wonder, if that is a good strategy to use with a mediocre OL, should the Chiefs have tried it in the SB?
@drgnslayr I don't think cancelling the rest of the season would be as much fun as having the rest of our games on Friday nights. We could probably pay Sunflower League schools a lot less than South Dakota, and hopefully our OL will push those HS kids around.
(Is the Sunflower League still around?)
@wissox Jr high teams are not allowed in Div 1.
Nice to have someone get a life-changing contract, and then have his best season so far! Doesn't always work that way...
Congrats. After all, it is so hard for super high payroll teams to have any chance in baseball. (sarcasm font!)
@wissox Apparently much discussion about BYU, according to The Athletic. (I don't know if this was posted here before.)

A big difference: the wizard was basically well meaning, in the movie at least. Anyone willing to grant good intentions to the NCAA?

It really is a shame that there were bad apples doing things like that.
Happened also with so many businesses that took covid emergency loans and laid off staff anyway.

@BShark said in Struggling today.:
then you have the situation where the supreme court overturned the eviction moratorium.
I know several people who used the moratorium to stop paying mortgages even though they had the money. Saw a new car, heard of vacations... A mistake that has now left them scrambling. Financial acumen is apparently not innate.
The SCt decision was inevitable. Kavanaugh said the moratorium had to be done by Congress. CDC doing it to keep people from having to move into more densely occupied housing was tenuous at best, and really it was a subterfuge to give a break to renters from a horrible financial crisis. The notion that a different group (landlords) had to foot the bill, and even possibly lose their own property (many rented houses still have a mortgage being paid by the landlord). Only about 1/8 of funds targeted for rental assistance has been distributed due to bureaucratic bungling.
The whole system in a mess, with high property prices and ever-lower-paying jobs leaving way too many people vulnerable. A moratorium should have only been a short term solution, but with most of the country opening up with people getting out in the world by the millions, the CDC's predicate emergency to avoid infections in some homes is likely just the proverbial single drop in a storm.
