Memphis combusting? β€’ Dec 05, 2021 04:25 PM

Put it here because, you know, 2008...

Penny H having big trouble with team chem. Very interesting article that is largely quotes. What came across to me, unsaid by Seth Davis, is "Why the fuck didn't you do something about it before the season? Who is the driver of this bus?"

Fun N' Gun β€’ Dec 05, 2021 02:33 PM

Ah, that famously successfully Long Beach State strategy that led to so many championships......

Fun to watch, but it can get shut down by a good defensive team that makes you slow down. Then you need a half-court offense and if that is just a second priority in practice, you are likely toast.

@Texas-Hawk-10 That is all true, but sometimes circumstances change... ..ahem..Roy..cough...cough...

The amount of money flying around now is likely to occur again next year, and who would turn down a 10 year guaranteed $50 to $70 mil?

The key to making free-throws is bending your knees. The key to playing good defense is by getting low, which can be achieved by bending your knees. We just need to bend our knees. Someone tell Self

Trying to coach knee bending would be a lot easier if they took the Game of Thrones approach..."bend the knee, or DIE!"

@JohntheHawk said in Two trials, similar and different:

Why do the guys with the left wing point of view have the right to group up and be confrontational any more than anyone else?

You keep going on about them. This trial wasn't about them. Had they been on trial, I would have fully supported convictions.

We are in deep shit if we decide people can just go arm themselves and wade into a riot.

Enough.

Two trials, similar and different β€’ Dec 02, 2021 09:20 PM

@JohntheHawk A lot of assumptions in your response about my thinking. I abhor riots, but I also abhor vigilantiism. Rittenhouse was looking for confrontation when he left his home miles away. I think anyone premeditatedly seeking confrontation has less right to assert self defense than a person who gets caught up in a riot through no action of their own.

Police failures are no excuse for someone to decide it is open season. Legally, he was properly acquitted. Morally, his and his cronies' armed presence helped inflame, not control, more violence.

2022 Schedule Finalized β€’ Dec 02, 2021 04:30 PM

@tis4tim I hope you are right. Assuming we keep the coach.

If he gets poached, KU participating in bowl season 2023 will be in polar conditions because Hell will have frozen over.....

Two trials, similar and different β€’ Dec 02, 2021 01:55 PM

@JohntheHawk I understand much of what you say, but I think the motivating anger about Rittenhouse is a sense that he went hunting people in the first place. Under the law, I think the result was correct, but I think the law needs to be changed to not allow people to do that.

Post Tournament Thoughts β€’ Dec 01, 2021 01:08 PM

@DanR said in Post Tournament Thoughts:

I think Dave was unfairly blamed for the Dayton loss

Absolutely. If you watch the video in the Jess Newell article carefully, you see that Dave had inside position with a free lane to the rim when Braun got the ball. But Remy took his guy through the paint under the basket, giving the Dayton guy time to move behind Dave. CB hesitated, then passed it in anyway, and Dave tried to back into the lane and received a very iffy charge call.

Newell wrote that Self was mad at Remy for an unscripted move that disrupted the called play.

With the time left, CB should have reversed the ball to the right side, or called a timeout rather than force it in to Dave.

Watch it about 10 times and you see how Remy f'd it up.

Watching Dave, I wonder if he is one of the people who have lingering effects from Covid. Gassed in just a few minutes, sweating sheets of water, looks confused. I think there may be a hidden story there.

At least he isn't fouling a lot. About the best I can say at this point!

Mitch looks like conference Dave last year, and vice versa.....

ESPN.com, gutter rag β€’ Nov 24, 2021 12:11 PM

All of which has nothing to do with the article, which is merely about the several avenues players can choose from in trying to get to the pros. Again, not a word about any college failing them.

ESPN.com, gutter rag β€’ Nov 24, 2021 01:03 AM

The article does not even hint at a failure by KU, which is not named in any references to our players named in the article.

ESPN should charge you for the streaming you imagine you are seeing.

A hit job on who, exactly?

ESPN.com, gutter rag β€’ Nov 23, 2021 04:05 AM

I think you all need to read the article. That quote is a tiny part of it and there are dozens of other cautionary examples cited. It is actually an extensive analysis of all the different choices available to elite players and how that has changed.

There is so much desire on this board to feel picked on by ESPN that I am afraid y'all stay awake at night for fear that you will have nightmares about it.

One year ago today β€’ Nov 17, 2021 11:10 PM

Lots of people disapproved. Anybody who got, or gets, bent out of shape need to examine why it upsets them so much. And then, if it still seems like getting upset is worth it, reexamine it and, finally, decide to just get over it.

Kansas was a 31-point underdog at Caesars Sportsbook, making the Jayhawks' victory the largest spread upset ever in a Big 12 conference game.

The ESPN recap has some nice stats, like KU previously was 0-100 as an underdog against a 24+ spread. Most ever points for KU on the road, and most ever points for Texas in a loss. First Big 12 road victory for KU since 2008. Only the 4th KU win over Texas all time (1st was 1907, I think), but 2 in the last 5 years. (edited)
