Your rant is about 4 TOSU players cutting out of the Rose Bowl. I understand not liking that, but here's something else to think about: With Omicron running amock, 4 bowls were cancelled. Hundreds of players lost their last chance to showcase their talents. Millions of dollars in tickets and concessions lost, vendors deprived of sales, sponsors blown out of exposure that was years in the planning.... No one to blame, really, but a damn shame that few people even think about.
What, precisely, is lost because 4 guys don't play? Do we know the team was butt-hurt? The game goes on. Four guys are prepping for a huge step in their careers. They miss the chance to be seen. The game goes on. Nothing else is threatened.
I love the irony of Desmond Howard criticizing them for disrespecting their teammates. He may have forgotten the flak his "Hesiman pose" received from people who thought he was showboating and disrespecting the team aspects of football. I didn't care, myself. But arguably one of the most "me me me" moments in college fb history.

Latest Fox News insanity: One of their hosts who interviewed Trump tried to discount Trump's pro-vax comments as due to him being old and thus, like many seniors, not being able to use the internet. That kept him from being able to do his own personal research, and left him stuck with relying on the pro-vax biased mass media.

Professional athletes get into fights weekly whenever they sense that someone didn't "respect" them. The Chiefs were incensed about the Raiders logo pregame gathering. The NFL goes batshit over a sneer toward an opponent because these guys can be so volatile at the slightest perceived breach of the unwritten "respect" decorums.
But, nary a peep about a teammate not getting vaxxed and having to miss at least one crucial game, which surely disrespects everybody on the team, and their hard work over the course of a season, as much as any gesture from an opponent.
I'd be madder than hell.

We are in Hawaii with the gkids, halfway through our 2 weeks. Fingers crossed for the flight back next Tuesday/Wednesday. Will wear N95 masks this time. 16 hrs should make us really grumpy by the time we crash at home...uh, let me rephrase that....."arrive home" is better!
Still think Covid has had lingering effects on him. Too much fatigue and apparent confusion for this to be normal, now that we know from last year how good he can be.
I have touted it before, but a subscription to The Atlantic is the single best resource I have found for tracking information about Covid-19. Their reporters won a few journalism awards. Absolutely worth it for people who want in-depth reporting instead of just Facebook rumors and CNN/Fox headlines.

I cannot recall anyone who has even made that claim, only that they can help -- in combination with good ventilation, less crowding, vaccines, good general health habits, etc etc etc.

Diplomatic boycott is about the most brutal humiliation US can do to Red China. They are so sensitive to even the barest hint that soneone is not respecting their super power (military, culture, sports) status. This is a hint of the years they were the outcasts before the Nixon/Ford/Carter diplomatic steps toward more open relationships, and they hate it.
Stopping the athletes from going punishes the wrong people.
No one yet has explained to me why other cases, with active distribution of money by coaches, are directly applicable to ours.

@jayballer67 Total loss of use of his right arm from the shrapnel wound suffered in Italy. Spent 3 years in hospitals recovering.
Dole carried a pen in his right hand to keep his fingers from splaying out, and to remind people to shake left-handed. He also never was able after the wound to cut a steak, tie his shoes or ties, or do anything requiring two arms. Amazing fortitude and resiliency.
It is always fair to remember both good and bad when someone dies. I hated his early senate campaigns when he was pretty vicious, and his failure to help fight the Republicans' trend toward demonizing government workers when Reagan gave his "scariest words" speeches ("I'm from the government and I'm here to help you"). But his work on behalf of social welfare programs is often too unheralded. Too bad the Reps wouldn't elect someone like him now.
