Tuesday's Game @ Texas Tech!! • Feb 09, 2015 03:03 PM

@icthawkfan316

I was pretty much in shock after Kentucky, and as the season goes on, that bothers me less and less. I hate to say it, but UK is far superior to any other team out there. They may not go undefeated, may not win it all, but all in all they're the best team in college basketball right now.

The Temple loss SUCKED. Sucked, sucked, sucked, sucked, sucked. And then it sucked some more. :lollipop:

The ISU loss was not enjoyable, but bearable. We lost a close, hard fought game to a good team.

The Okie State game - :facepunch: to the groin.

Superstition... • Feb 09, 2015 02:07 PM

@wissoxfan83 Ditch her now.

Tuesday's Game @ Texas Tech!! • Feb 09, 2015 02:06 PM

@icthawkfan316 "it wasn't that we lost as much as how we lost" when voicing their disappointment. I'm sure I've done the same thing. I'm genuinely curious though, what KU losses have been easy to accept? How many times have we thought "well, we gave it our best shot" and were not extremely bitter."

I was originally going to respond to @BeddieKU23 , but then I glanced at your post and thought I'd respond to it instead. Like you, I don't care to get beat any time, but it IS a tiny bit easier for me to stomach if it was a hard fought game and I felt like we gave it our all.

The OSU fiasco was a disgrace, as far as I'm concerned. We had a fourteen point lead, the less than capacity crowd was completely out of the game and we had it in the bag. Eleven point lead at halftime. Then they just quit playing.

Not fun.

I need some advice • Feb 09, 2015 02:00 PM

@dylans Good point. I don't think well at 5:30 am. Or any other time, according to my wife.

I need some advice • Feb 09, 2015 11:39 AM

@JhawkAlum It's early in the morning and I'm not quite done with my first cup of coffee - but - your son is at K-State (which is perfectly fine!) wearing a "Decade of Dominance) shirt???

I can only assume you're talking football ?

Frank's Number.... • Feb 08, 2015 10:30 PM

@KUinLA My first response would be to say that, lately, playing point guard for Kansas has been a whole lot like playground ball.

Fortunately, I will not say that.

Frank's Number.... • Feb 08, 2015 03:19 PM

@drgnslayr I always have a hard time when the announcers talk about early games, or short amount of time between games ( 2 or 3 days ) and how worn down these guys get.

B.S.

Was anyone else here ever 18 or 19? (Can't say 20, because they're probably in the NBA....) I could play basketball ALL day long, party all night and play all day long the next day. You can't wear out a teenager.

If Frank really IS tired, it's not from playing too many minutes.

It's from carrying the whole team on his back for the past 4 months.

ITS THE END OF THE WORLD • Feb 08, 2015 03:00 PM

@drgnslayr I think we're going to have a lot of "dips" until Oubre, Traylor and Selden figure out how to play basketball. And they're not alone, just the three worst offenders in my book right at this moment.

Superstition... • Feb 08, 2015 02:58 PM

It's Self's fault. He continued his silly superstition that you must quit thinking, playing and coaching after you get a 10+ point lead.

As for me, I'm golden. I had my favorite blankey, had my right foot crossed over my left foot when we had the ball, left foot over right when they had the ball. That worked till we gave up the lead, then I reversed the order. So I did everything that I could do.

Dean Smith Rest In Peace • Feb 08, 2015 02:54 PM

I was as ticked off at Dean Smith as you can possibly be without actually knowing someone, after the whole " Roy " debacle, but there's no denying what he meant to the game of college basketball.

Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

WTF? • Feb 08, 2015 02:05 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 You are an awesome fan to watch the post game show. I could barely stand to watch the game. But I did.

She wants to attend KU

If she WANTS to attend KU, and they offer the classes that are going to benefit her then she NEEDS to go to KU. College is too important a decision to look back later and say " Hmmm - wish I would have gone to KU ".

Sounds like she's very intelligent, there must be scholarships and/or grants available at KU too.

@jaybate-1.0 said:

You never, never, never, never, never, never, EVER stop shooting treys when you are 1-7 in the second half on the road with less than a 15 point lead.

This is the only one on your list that I must disagree with. If your jersey says KANSAS, you bolt to a huge lead then just quit playing basketball. Just effing quit.

WTF? • Feb 07, 2015 11:35 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 The team.

That's what bugs me the most about this team. They give up a big lead, look stupid and not one of them looks pissed off. They're all looking down at their chests and see that it still says KANSAS.

I guess they figure that's good enough for them.

ITS THE END OF THE WORLD • Feb 07, 2015 10:42 PM

It's not the end of the world, but it could be the end of a long Conf. Championship streak.

You CAN'T give up a 14 point (or 11 at halftime) lead on the road to a much inferior (oh YES they are) team and expect to win Championships.

Creampuffs.

WTF? • Feb 07, 2015 10:40 PM

We're soft. Except for our hands. They are incredibly stiff. I guess that's why we have the ball bounce off our hands and into the hands of the opponents on seemingly every other possesion. We don't get back on defense anywhere near as quickly as we should. We have the attention span of most two year olds. And the intellect.

I know a lot of KU fans are "poo-poo"-ing the importance of Conference Championship verses National Championships. Until this team figures out how to play ball, they'd better PRAY for another Conf. Championship, because we're likely to get bounced (again) in the second or third game of the tournament.

@brooksmd I don't like him at all. Not personally, but as a basketball player. He doesn't seem like a good one.

Thunder steals the Thunder • Feb 05, 2015 12:31 PM

@drgnslayr I've heard that story for years - about Norm not spending any money in Kansas. I'm guessing they mean besides the strip clubs.

No malice?

Wheels coming off in Austin?? • Feb 05, 2015 12:29 PM

If Bill Self had landed in Austin instead of Lawrence -

Unfortunately, he'd probably STILL have 10 straight conference championships.

Barnes has had an un-natural amount of gifted players at Texas.

Dude can't coach.

Baylor • Feb 04, 2015 07:25 PM

@JayhawkRock78 Truth be known, I  Texas (the state!) very much! Once upon a time, my wife and I lived in Houston for almost 9 years. My dad has lived in the Round Rock (and now Horseshoe Bay) area for almost 30 years. We have close friends in Galveston.

The slammin Waco thing just came into play because of Baylor.

Don't Mess With Texas.

More importantly - ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK

Baylor • Feb 03, 2015 10:59 PM

@Jyhwk_InTigrtwn I know - I'm not really as ignorant as I sound most of the time. I get that people have allegiances to other schools and that's OK.

Ok if you're stupid. Lol.

Baylor • Feb 03, 2015 10:24 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Lol - not likely to run out of run down homes there, but IF they do - maybe they could move to Midland-Odessa.

My goal is to offend everyone in the state of Texas today.

What's jaybate's motto - no malice ...........
Which reminds me - I think jaybate is really Fran Fraschilla - I heard him say something about " no malice " last night !

Funny!

Honestly, I've wondered many times why the %&^* any good recruit would want to spend ANY time in Waco, Tx. Sorry if anyone's from Waco and that's your favorite place in the world, but the rest of us don't get it.

The best thing I've ever seen about Waco is Chip and Joanna Gaines on the Fixer-Upper show.

This will sound extremely arrogant, I'm sure, but last night I was watching Georges Niang and I almost felt sorry for him. He's so damn talented and I'm thinking - Really? Ames, Iowa. WHY? Why didn't he play at KU? I'll never get it.

Bill Self Offensive Philosophy 2015-2025 • Feb 03, 2015 08:02 PM

@wissoxfan83 lol - thanks for the shoutout! Honestly, I should explain my WSU position.

I was in "Nawlins" in ....'81 when WSU outplayed us in the Midwest Regionals. (not to mention Darnell Valentine missing at least 127 layups). They had a GREAT team that year - they had my respect.

I didn't pay much attention to them for the next 30 years. Just cuz. But in 2012-2013, after we were out of the tournament, I rooted for them all the way. Really rooted for them. I was disappointed when they lost in the Final Four.

THEN - the next season blew it for me. Forever. The whole "undefeated in the marshmallow cupcake sissy-girl, goldilocks ballerina" league put a bad taste in my mouth. Half of the high school teams in this area could have done the same thing.

The final straw was greaseball Marshall flapping his stupid lips about how scared the Chickenhawks were to play Wichita State. Puh-leeze.

So, it's really Marshall I can't stand. But since he's the coach of WSU, I have to dislike them too. Hopefully he'll move on to a conference with some real teams in it, get the living crap beat out of him on a regular basis, and we'll never have to hear about him again.

Then I can root for WSU again. When they're not playing us.

Something to Ponder..... • Feb 03, 2015 03:53 PM

@jaybate-1.0 His hand strength does seem to be less than "normal". I was under the impression that Wiggins had that same problem. Now that I think about it, Traylor can't seem to hold onto the ball either.......

Maybe the whole team ought to be required to carry those spring loaded hand grip exercisers.

Or split logs!

Something to Ponder..... • Feb 03, 2015 02:09 PM

@jaybate-1.0 Great points (as usual).

You mentioned Jabbar and Walton being there for 3 seasons and it reminded me of a hypothetical question one of the announcers (I don't remember which one) asked last night:

Would you rather have Andrew Wiggins for one season or Perry Ellis for 4 seasons?

To ME - the stupidest ( yes, I said "stupidest" ) question ever asked. I'll take a 4 year guy ANYTIME, especially when he's the caliber of Perry Ellis. I know he takes a lot of crap (not from the coaches - from us dumbass fans) but he is a solid player. He might not be as flashy as we'd like or as "aggressive", but we would be doomed without him. No, I'm not related to him.

No amount of "flash" or hype can replace the experience of a solid 4 year player. Wish we had more of them.

Something to Ponder..... • Feb 03, 2015 12:13 PM

@JayHawkFanToo - Sorry - Guess if I had read a little further I wouldn't have posted almost exactly the same thing as you did !

Something to Ponder..... • Feb 03, 2015 12:12 PM

@Lulufulu This may be simplifying it way too much, but my feeling is that in Wooden's era - if you were a superstar player you went to UCLA. Period. Wooden kind of cornered the market on what would be OAD's today.

Now there are an incredible amount of gifted players, enough so that almost every team has at least one. With so much talent everywhere, it makes what Self has done seem beyond possibility.

Something to Ponder..... • Feb 02, 2015 03:43 PM

For some time now, at least once during every single game we play, one of the announcers will comment about how Bill Self has more Conference Championships than home losses.

I thought I'd become desensitized to that talk until I actually started thinking about it.

That is one CRAZY statistic!! It would be crazy no matter if it were TWO conference championships with one home loss, or 500 conference championships with 499 home losses. No matter how you crunch the numbers, having more conference championships than home losses is insane.

Keep up the insanity Bill !!

Besides Kentucky......

Sorry.

@wrwlumpy Forget about the boy - I hope Freddy is crying after this game. I hope he's emotionally scarred for life and gives up shaving, bathing and brushing his teeth. I hope the Mayor becomes a homeless dumpster diver.

Of course, I mean that in the nicest possible way.

And Now for the Trifecta of 3 in 6 • Feb 01, 2015 02:24 PM

@wrwlumpy Yeah. A real stumper. WIchita State plays marshmallows, Wichita State wins.

Wichita State plays a ranked team, Wichita State gets beat.

Hmmmm.

By the way - I'm not dogging you - It's just the first thing I've seen today about WSU and - well - I don't like them.

Little Help ! • Jan 31, 2015 09:20 PM

Ok, I'm probably not THE most stupid person on the face of the earth (it's up for debate), but I could really use some help with this.

Since Brannen Greene shoots 788.99% from the field and eleven hundred and 52 million % from the free throw line - WHY WHY WHY is he only playing 13 minutes per game? Could't he score 172 pts per game if Self played him 30 minutes or so per game?

I'm all ears.

Livestock Judging Team

The KSU Livestock Judging Program is rich with tradition and attracts students from all over the United States. The Kansas State program dates back to 1903 and has compiled thirteen national championships, including a record setting five consecutive wins from 1994-1998. Students interested in livestock judging must enroll in ASI 420, Principles of Livestock Selection in the fall semester of their Junior or Senior year. Those students completing the course are eligible to compete on the Livestock Judging Team. KSU attends the National Western Stock Show, Denver, CO; Sioux Empire Show, Sioux Falls, SD; Iowa Beef Expo, Des Moines, IA; Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Houston, TX; Mid America Classic, Wichita, KS; World Beef Expo, Milwaukee, WI; American Royal, Kansas City, MO; and North American International Livestock Exposition, Louisville, KY. The Department of Animal Sciences and Industry, College of Agriculture Competition Team Council, Livestock Meat Industry Foundation, and Joe Lewellen Fund provide the financial support for the program.

Congratulations ???

Does anyone remember the sign they used to have on I-70 that read something like " Kansas State University, Home of the National Livestock Judging Champions ". It used to be a great source of entertainment and conversation for us.

Them boys knows their cows.
