Anyway - that's the main reason that I don't get so crazy upset anymore ( for all my whining and crying on here, it's NOTHING compared to how I used to be). I can't get to "know" any of the players, there's no cohesiveness on the team, it's just getting to the point where I'm about to give up on college ball altogether.

@Lulufulu I RARELY ever blame a loss on the refs - and I won't this one either - BUT I did find myself saying " hmmmm - how come when we shuffle our feet, or look like we shuffle our feet it's a walk, but when they take 11 steps - no call? ". That and a whole bunch of other calls like it. It was pretty obvious to me early on that if it were up to the refs, we were going to lose.
Too bad we had to make it so easy for them.
@drgnslayr I can't help my friend - it's all I can do to get through the game as it happens. I sure as heck don't want to watch that garbage again!

@HighEliteMajor I'm not a great basketball mind by any stretch of the imagination, but I had an End Game Screw Up #3 scenario: Since WVU is one of the worst free throw shooting teams in the country, why not foul immediately? Worse case scenario - they make both, take a one point lead and we still have 7+ seconds on the clock. Of course, since we couldn't find a good shot in 35 seconds, we probably couldn't get one in 7. NEVER MIND.
@lincase At least when he's sitting on his couch at home watching the second games of the NCAA's, he'll have the satisfaction of knowing he did it his way.

@ZIG My first reaction was to get defensive (unlike some basketball teams that I know) - but you're right. I'm sorry. I get more than a little wound up over KU basketball and sometimes I need to put a lip lock on myself and just shut it.
@jaybate-1.0 I think you were right on with your 10+ prediction, it's not your fault this team turns to jelly for no apparent reason. I will give them this, they were consistent. Consistently bad. Consistently stupid. Consistently lazy.
But I mean that in the nicest possible way.

@drgnslayr I'll catch some flack for this one, but I seriously don't think this team is smart enough to learn from a loss. And I really don't think they care all that much. I see where Looooonardy has us as a #2 seed right now. There's no way in H E Double hockeysticks that we're a #2. And if we go into the tournament as that, some #15 will toss us around like a pit bull with a rag doll. In my opinion, this team just doesn't have any :heart:
I don't ever want to hear anything bad about KU women's basketball. They almost pulled out a road win against a ranked WVU tonight in a 1/3 packed arena. They are gritty.....
Different as in a team that has no clue.

@Crimsonorblue22 I know it sounds crazy, but honestly I think it happens a lot. Teams get a big lead, then just "coast". I think when they're in a battle the whole way it keeps their attention focused.
Obviously I'd rather have a big lead, but this team doesn't seem to have the killer instinct to get and hold a big one. Lead, that is!
@Crimsonorblue22 NOPE - not me. Healthy leads with this team usually deteriorate. I'd prefer to keep it close the whole way and win at the buzzer.
@drgnslayr I let one slip every now and then, but I've always believed that people that use profanity every other word usually aren't smart enough to come up with anything else.
That's one reason I like the comedian Brian Regan so much, he can make me laugh until I cry and he rarely uses any profanity.

@Blown I don't think anyone would begrudge someone who had to steal to eat, especially a child - and I'm sorry that you had to go through that. Sounds like you've overcome and you can be thankful and proud of that.
HOWEVER - BIG, BIG difference between dumpster diving for needed food and the illegal drugs that we're talking about here. With an educated, grown man by the way.
I'm not judging him - I've smoked my share of weed (although 30+ years ago), but he needs to make amends, however that may be. I hope he overcomes this obstacle and goes on to great things in his coaching career.

@wrwlumpy Speaking for myself, he's a great, great coach. TEN Conf. Championships (so far?) NINE home losses in what - eleven seasons? But he's human.
When things aren't going our (Kansas' ), way he seems very reluctant to try new things. Sometimes you have to change up old ways and at least try new ways. In my opinion, it's his stubborness that has caused most of our early NCAA exits.
I still think highly of him, I just wish that once in a while he'd try new things when the old things aren't working.
Sometimes it's actually gold. Shoot the trey. That's what this team is built to do.
@JayhawkRock78 - That's the point of my knuckleheaded thread. That's what I would like too - get a big lead and hold onto it, or extend it. For whatever reason, we can't seem to do that any more.

My idea of a good game has changed. Back (waaaaay back) when we had players with "foot on the throat" mindsets, my idea of a good game was to jump out to an 18-2 or maybe a 24-4 lead, and then start playing ball. Watch the lead grow to 30, 40, sometimes even 50. THEN we could use the bench players, rest the starters and hang on for a 35 point win.
Now - since we don't know how to extend or even hang onto a lead, I want the opponent to win the opening tip-off and hold a 3-7 point lead the whole game. I mean the WHOLE game. Until, with time expiring, we put up any kind of a shot to win the game at the buzzer. 30' trey, layup, dunk - whatever.
Just win it at the buzzer.
