I have a problem with the whole RPI thing - to me it's basically useless. I think we had one of the very highest RPI last season - when we had a Bill Self record tying 10 losses.

Why Oh Why? • Jan 29, 2015 04:22 PM

@drgnslayr - That's quite the display of hyperbole.

There's no way Ellis was more than 222 miles away when he got that second foul.......

Please be more journalistically responsible from now on.

SAW a team Saturday • Jan 27, 2015 08:17 PM

@jayballer54 Do you ever wonder WHY?

Why can they play like "THAT" vs playing like deaf, dumb and .....stupid kids against Kentucky and Temple and to a lesser extent against a whole lot of other teams, which fortunately we won anyway?

I want to see the " vs Texas " team from now on !! They did it once, they can do it again.

You'd drink too if you realized you just left KU for Wichita State !

Congrats to Coach K for 1k • Jan 26, 2015 05:45 PM

I'm torn.

It would be the right thing to congratulate someone on an incredible accomplishment like 1,000 wins, but I really can't stand the little ratfaced weasel ...................

Sigh......Congratulations Coach Ratface.

I think they should be on the Disney Channel.

@Crimsonorblue22 It was awesome! And I could not believe how many KU folk were on the cruise. There were probably 30 students on winter break (that I know of) and I met tons of people from the state of Kansas. Wichita, Salina, Lawrence, Overland Park, Miltonvale - everywhere. It was fun.

Bragg on tv • Jan 19, 2015 07:59 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I went on a cruise to Cozumel - been out of the loop for a while, but it was well worth it!!

@Crimsonorblue22 I hope HE can play defense.....

Post game thoughts on Baylor Game. • Jan 08, 2015 03:21 PM

After the first half, I was seriously racking my brain to remember if I have ever watched such a bunch of stand-around, do nothing, lame-azz pansies. I had not, although briefly I had flashbacks of my 3rd grade YMCA team.....

Unfortunately, after battling a cold for the past few days and being put into a basketball induced coma at halftime, I missed the entire second half of the game. I understand Selden awoke from the dead and actually resembled a basketball player.

Are we really this bad? I mean, 12-2 sounds pretty good and I know our RPI is very high, but holy smoke .....

THE BAYLOR BEARS • Jan 06, 2015 07:55 PM

@wrwlumpy There's been a lot of talk about Frank getting too many minutes, but I'm not so sure. After a little bit of research, I noticed that he's playing almost exactly as many minutes as some other notable PG's. Darnell Valentine and Jacque Vaughn averaged about 33 mpg during their careers. Other names you will recognize that played from 32-36 minutes: Tyler Ennis, DeAndre Kane, Shabazz Napier, Aaron Craft, Marcus Smart, to name a few.

I think Frank has done a great job - the only possible drawback is if he gets injured, and injuries can happen at any time.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, just stating that maybe it's not such a terrible thing that he's playing a lot of minutes.

THE BAYLOR BEARS • Jan 06, 2015 07:50 PM

@DanR The MU toilet paper I had didn't last a day....

@Jesse-Newell In your opinion, what is the BEST measure out there? Thanks.

@HighEliteMajor said:

I admit, however, that Scott Drew has won more games than me at the college level and makes millions of dollars, so he must know what he's doing ...

I don't give him that much credit. Sometimes you're just in the right place at the right time.

UNLV: Welcome To The Six Man Rotation • Jan 05, 2015 07:45 PM

@JhawkAlum I have the same fever, but my prescription is more transition layups and dunks.

and more Cowbell.

@JayHawkFanToo He's not going anywhere. He's smart enough to know that at WSU he's a big fish in a small pond. About any other team that he went to would be in a conference with real competition.

UNLV REBELS • Jan 02, 2015 12:37 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Wow, you are quite beautiful!!

But why is your right leg bloodied up to the calf?

Uh-Oh, downvotes possible • Jan 02, 2015 12:36 PM

I'm not a downvote fan either. There's enough negativity in this world (hey, I'm an old hippie.......). I figure no comment is the same as a downvote and it doesn't make the "votee" feel bad.

UNLV REBELS • Jan 02, 2015 02:58 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I'm the one yelling at Chumlee to sit his fat butt down so I can watch the game!

UNLV REBELS • Jan 01, 2015 11:33 PM

I don't give a flip about any of UNLV's teams, but I do love me some Las Vegas.....

@jaybate-1.0 - the " all trey " theory is really interesting. And I can't tell if you're joking or not! What I would like (LOVE) to see is the Ol Roy fast break offense. The instant the opponent has a made basket, the ball is thrown back in play and 3.9 seconds later we are laying the ball in or dunking it while the defense wonders what the hell is just happened.

This walking the ball up the court and then starting the Globetrotter weave is wearing pretty thin in my book.

This team is making me crazy!!

Is there any other group of fans in the country (besides Kentucky) that would cry about having the #2 RPI, having a W/L record of 10-2 and being ranked #12 or 13 in the top 25?

Having said that, I spent the entire first half of last night's game thinking I hadn't seen more "starts with P and rhymes with wussy" since back in the late 70's when I used to frequent a very fine gentleman's club in Austin, which I believe was called "The Doll House".

Improvement Inside Means Cliff At 30 MPG • Dec 30, 2014 05:14 PM

@joeloveshawks It DID work out well for T-Rob, BMac, Morrii and Cole, but every one of them were (in my opinion) light years ahead of anyone we have on this years team. If you want a good laugh, I believe Perry is more NBA ready than anyone else on our team. If nothing else, he's consistent - you know what you're going to get day in and day out. Not a roller coaster like some of the others.

Improvement Inside Means Cliff At 30 MPG • Dec 30, 2014 03:59 PM

@Jyhwk_InTigrtwn Thing is - you're both right. Neither one of them is NBA ready. Not even close.

That don't mean they won't give it a whirl.

Belmont vs Butler now FoxSports 1 • Dec 29, 2014 07:16 PM

@wissoxfan83 I don't recall that one either.

I DO remember Butler, Bucknell and Bradley. :-1:

@jaybate-1.0 It's going to be tough to accomplish, no matter how simple the math, when a player practically gets benched for shooting a trey.

Secret to UK's Recruiting? • Dec 24, 2014 07:30 PM

@wissoxfan83 CRAP!

I messed up at work a little while ago and let them know I wasn't 100% incompetent and now they actually expect me to DO stuff now and then.....

Secret to UK's Recruiting? • Dec 24, 2014 06:57 PM

@VailHawk did you use the pound sign in front of the 7 ?

7

I don't care what they do, 3 pt shots, layups, dunks or mid-range shots, but they need to do it with intensity.

Who is responsible? • Dec 23, 2014 10:04 PM

@KUSTEVE If you're talking to me - I didn't say I wanted him back. I said I liked his "fire". He could motivate. He didn't have a bunch of little sissy girl prima donas standing around admiring their credentials. He had floor-divers. His teams out-hustled everyone they played.

Well, you talked me into it. I want him back.

Who is responsible? • Dec 23, 2014 09:27 PM

@wrwlumpy "How often on the same day does Manning throw 4 interceptions and Self lose by 25."

I just read somewhere today that Self has had three 25+ losses in his career at Kansas.

The fact that TWO of those have come this season is really concerning me.

Who is responsible? • Dec 23, 2014 07:14 PM

@drgnslayr
I don't know a lot about you, but I'll bet the farm that you feel the same as I do. That you, your brother-in-law, the janitor over at Wal-Mart and any two random neighborhood kids could beat this team right now.

I swear on all that is holy, I feel like that every game. I'm 56 years old, 6' - 230 and I know in my heart that I could take on any one of these guys and beat them.

Would it happen? No. But I feel like it would. Because I have more heart and determination than they are showing right now. Two things drove me when I played sports.

1) I *** HATE *** to lose.

2) I want to win. (But nowhere near as bad as I want NOT to lose.)

I hope this game wakes up some inner demons. Dare I say - we need to " Play Angry " ?

Who is responsible? • Dec 23, 2014 07:05 PM

@wrwlumpy I've got a pitchfork in one hand and a torch in the other. Could you call Self for me? Thanks !!

KU how cold • Dec 23, 2014 05:30 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Lol

Right. Except one was lump in the throat, emotional tears and the other was rage filled, ruh-roh, what do we do now tears!

Who is responsible? • Dec 23, 2014 05:06 PM

@JayHawkFanToo No, I think you're spot on. And while we're at it, I don't remember consistently losing to 10-15 seed teams in the NCAA's either. We got beat, but they were usually to legit teams. Not always - but usually.

Who is responsible? • Dec 23, 2014 04:00 PM

@drgnslayr - I thought I was done, but you got my blood boiling now. (Well, not you - but thinking about what you said)

What we've discussed so far is the reason that I've always had that nagging voice in the back of my mind telling me that I really miss Roy. (Call me blasphemous, I don't care) Nobody can tell me that Roy didn't have the "fire" when he was here. Yeah, Yeah, I know BS has the NC. Big whoop. Thank Sherron and Mario, not BS.

What KU fan didn't like it when Roy's face turned 6 shades of red and then he threw off his jacket and started yelling? Substituted all 5 players when they were dogging it and let the bench-riders give it a whirl.

Very few of Roy's teams showed up in a coma like the two blowout losses we've seen this year. And actually, some of the wins we've had this years have been snoozefests too. Or at least they've been way too close for the talent disparity between teams.

Dang you @drgnslayr - I was perfectly content watching my Hallmark Christmas movies last night, sticking my head in the sand and pretending that we don't have REAL issues with this team.

Merrrrrrrrrrrrrry Christmas!

Who is responsible? • Dec 23, 2014 03:50 PM

@drgnslayr I feel the same. There's no shame in losing a game where you bust your butt and give it your all. Unfortunately, most of our losses in recent years have been like last night. No shows.

Either that, or build a giant lead and stop playing. Watch it disappear. I only watched 8 minutes of humiliation last night, but from what I can see, Frank Mason is the only player out there that is even trying.

I don't know what to think any more. Bill Self's record says that he is one of the best. Period. More and more I'm wondering how that's possible.

His teams don't seem prepared or motivated..

And it pisses me off. If I can't say that, someone can edit it for me.

KU how cold • Dec 23, 2014 03:41 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I gave my wife the remote 8:00 minutes into the game and we watched Hallmark Christmas movies.

32 + 25 NOT EQUAL TO 11 • Dec 23, 2014 04:04 AM

10 is a nice number anyway.

One of Hank's other, less famous quotes:

"What shade of black should we paint these stupid things?"

@justanotherfan "I'm more interested in the starters two years from now."

That all depends on who our coach is two years from now......
