KUBUCKETS RULES!!!! • Dec 18, 2014 12:34 PM

@approxinfinity - Well said my friend!

I think most of the regulars on here are passionate KU fans, and sometimes passion breeds.

Oh yeah - it breeds those things that aren't good for us. Jealousy, anger, overt competitiveness and whatever the word is for things that make us act stupid and say mean things.

I know for sure that I've been guilty of running my mouth (or fingers!) when I shouldn't. Why do we always assume that "we're" right and the other guy is an idiot?

Anyway, we all know how much time and effort you have put into this site and we're very thankful for that! Truth be told, kubuckets is one of the things that I really look forward to every day. Thanks for the "kinder/gentler" reminder.

Merry Christmas and Thanks again!

@jaybate-1.0 Not trying to critique, but just pointing out that in Wooden's day 6-5 to 6-9 was not necessarily short for the time.

Be Honest • Dec 17, 2014 12:36 PM

@DoubleDD There's no satire (for once!) in my response to your statement that "This year's team doesn't care about greatness they just want to kick your ass."
It's really interesting to me that we (fans) can have so many different takes on the same team. I just don't get that at all. This seem very cautious and .......nervous to me. Teams that just want to kick booty don't blow 21 point leads. They build that lead to 40. They put the hammer down and take no prisoners and all kinds of other good cliches.

I will give them this much - they're not giving up. I know they're very young and (DIV-1) inexperienced and they're still coming out with " W "''s and I'm not complaining about that. I just wish they'd get focused. Play Angr..........whoops. Stop. The #11, PlayAngry team just about got spanked AT HOME last night by an unranked Alabama team, so we'll disregard that comment.......

Jamari Traylor ---->combo guard • Dec 16, 2014 12:29 PM

@jaybate-1.0 You guys are trading underwear?? Are they the Duluth Trading Co brand?

Sorry. That's just stupid - even for me.

Frankamp for Ojeleye? • Dec 15, 2014 08:07 PM

@HighEliteMajor No, no, no !! I hold you in high regard my friend.

But I always like a good opportunity to slam WSU.....

Frankamp for Ojeleye? • Dec 15, 2014 05:50 PM

@HighEliteMajor I imagine that every top recruit in this galaxy, and maybe even in OTHER galaxies, are chomping at the bit to play for Gregg Marshall and live in beautiful Wichita, Ks.

Probably as soon as 2016, John Calipari will be sobbing on Marshall's doorstep, BEGGING for his McD roster back.

Free Throw Practice - A Waste of Time • Dec 15, 2014 02:27 PM

@wrwlumpy Thanks for that reminder lumpy..... My eyes are still burning (and my heart is still hurting) from that pathetic display of "skill".

Oh well, it seems as though this team is on the right track. RCJH.

Free Throw Practice - A Waste of Time • Dec 14, 2014 03:45 PM

@HighEliteMajor I'm sure you are right. I sometimes just like to come at it from the cynical, eyebrow raised angle!

Free Throw Practice - A Waste of Time • Dec 14, 2014 02:04 PM

Yeah. Not my words.

An article in my local paper this morning says " Kansas coach Bill Self rarely wastes time (italics added) in practice working on free throws. Instead, he leaves it up to his guys to squeeze in the work......."

Then - in another article he (Self) goes on to say " We've won the last three games (against Utah, Georgetown and Florida) from the free throw line, knock on wood. "

I'm confused.

So...........what's he saying? That he knows that we must shoot free throws well to win, but he doesn't want to "waste time" working on them in practice?

Maybe he shouldn't "waste time" in practice on offensive rebounding or turnovers and leave it up to the guys to squeeze in that work as well.

Dang KU! • Dec 14, 2014 01:45 PM

@Lulufulu That's all you NEED.

@HighEliteMajor I hate to see people get their priorities screwed up.

KUBuckets first. Work second.

lol

Hit The Road Clint......... • Dec 13, 2014 03:07 PM

@Lulufulu You're right - he is staying. I was urging him to leave, establish himself as a head coach somewhere and then come back and rule the BIG 12 !

Don't ever see him promoted to head coach here without some prior head coaching experience....

@jaybate-1.0 Yeah. That's what I was gonna say.

Hit The Road Clint......... • Dec 12, 2014 12:40 PM

@DoubleDD I don't think he will leave either. I really wish he would though, it seems the only possible way he will ever be head coach here is to be one somewhere else first....

@jaybate-1.0 I think they already have a complete library at Mizzery.

Mr. Gambini, what is a Ute? • Dec 11, 2014 09:51 PM

@JayhawkRock78

Love to watch Marisa Tomei.

Period.

@jaybate-1.0 As you can tell, my gramma and punksheation ain't worth a hoot either.

@ParisHawk I think, never in the history of the universe have I used " effect " or " affect " in the proper manner.

I also don't care. lol

Hit The Road Clint......... • Dec 11, 2014 04:19 PM

@wissoxfan83 Not being a Badgers follower, I wasn't aware of all that. I'm still surprised, but now I'm not sorry! Lol.

Hit The Road Clint......... • Dec 11, 2014 03:26 PM

@wissoxfan83 I was sorry (and surprised) to see your Badgers coach jump ship too......

Hit The Road Clint......... • Dec 11, 2014 12:33 PM

An open letter to Clint Bowen. Clint - get out now. Hit the road. Scram. Vamoose. Buh-bye. Go. Leave. See Ya. Adios. Later Gator. That's not what me or the players or the fans say. That's what your boss, Sha-Zing says.

"We were looking for someone who carried himself confidently, yet with a humble nature, someone who valued substance over style, someone who would undersell and overproduce, and finally, just work hard. What we found in _ ___ is not only someone who exhibits these qualities but is also a highly respected teacher, coach, recruiter and colleague in the football fraternity."

Sha-Zing filled in the blanks with " David Beaty ", but it should have been " Clint Bowen ". You don't want to work for an idiot, do you?

My own personal advice: Go.

You'll never be head coach here as long as Sha-Zing is here. He will continue to hire other no name, un-proven "coaches" and overlook you as long as he's in charge. The new guy could be the next ....Urban Meyer. Or not. Doesn't matter. If he is here 3 years and wins 30 games, he'll jump ship to some big name football program.

Leave Lawrence, go build a name for yourself and come back here long after Sha-Zing has been fired (could be as few as two years from now) and show the world what a moron he really was.

Then when you are established and proven, you will finally have your dream job.

Go.

Big 12 Snubbed • Dec 10, 2014 09:39 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Oooooooh. We should have jerseys like this!!

Big 12 Snubbed • Dec 10, 2014 08:14 PM

@justanotherfan Just curious - where did you find the $6M figure? It seems like we (KU / Big IIV) got about $17M for the Orange Bowl.

Maybe I've forgotten. I don't know what I had for breakfast this morning. Crap - did I have breakfast this morning?

GU Intel Estimate • Dec 10, 2014 03:18 PM

@wrwlumpy Congratulations!

Insufferable Shocker Fans • Dec 09, 2014 04:02 AM

@globaljaybird I had no idea they had 24 - TWENTY FOUR! straight AP appearances. WOW.

That's not quite half as many conference titles as we have........

Insufferable Shocker Fans • Dec 08, 2014 03:09 PM

@drgnslayr No need to apologize. In fact, thanks for coming up with something that we can be passionate about, no matter which side we take. Now if you really want to stir the pot, start a thread saying why we should (or should not) bring back Mangino......

Just Say No to Snyder • Dec 08, 2014 12:00 PM

Hmmm. I get where you're coming from. I'm just not sure I agree. Snyder's no-star, 2star, walkon kids have won more games the past 3 or 4 years than any other Big 12 team.

Insufferable Shocker Fans • Dec 07, 2014 01:15 PM

@ralster Major props to you for keeping your mouth shut. The ladies may have heard a fire and brimstone sermon from me.

My take on WSU - They are good. They were good last year, they're good this year and they may be good next year.

They will not be good forever. I compare them to KU football. We have been and can be good - for a while.

Note to Gregg Marshall and crew - Wichita, Ks is not the basketball mecca of the world. (Look about 175 miles to your Northeast...) You will get lucky and get some really good talent - once in a while. The top 50 players in the country don't want to and won't come to Wichita. Enjoy it while you can.

Self would have been (publicly) fired up if they had hired ME.

Wait - I may have been a better choice anyway....

KU NEEDED NEINAS TO HIRE BEATY? • Dec 07, 2014 01:06 PM

@jaybate-1.0 I wish Bob Frederick was still here. He was, in my opinion, probably the best A.D. we ever had/ever will have. He was wise, intelligent, innovative and a good, decent human being. RIP Bob. You are sorely missed.

Newly Chewed Butts Is "Who We Are" • Dec 06, 2014 02:08 PM

@brooksmd I think I just hit "last channel" to get away from the destruction and that's where it landed.

Actually, I do feel kind of bad about not watching the whole game. It does seem a little chicken-ship, and if I had been watching with friends or family, I would have stuck it out. My wife was under the weather and I was watching alone and thought it just didn't seem like a good investment of 2+ hours.....

Newly Chewed Butts Is "Who We Are" • Dec 06, 2014 12:45 PM

I wish I could say I was man enough to watch the second half. After all these years of high blood pressure, veins popping and smashed up remotes, I've figured out that I don't have to watch BS like that (first half). Unfortunately, that means I miss out on some good comebacks.

Fair weather fan? I prefer to call it low blood pressure fan nowadays.

By the way - Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed was an excellent show.

New Coach Hired David Beaty • Dec 05, 2014 08:59 PM

@JayHawkFan I think I've admitted this before - well, let me start from the beginning. Growing up, and until about 10 years ago, I hated K-State with a great passion. Not on a missery scale of hatred, but on a normal world view of hate - I was right there.

After KSU hired Bill Snyder and they started being relevant, it kind of made my ears perk up and listen to what was going on over there in Manhattan. When I realized what a decent man that Bill Snyder really was ( dear God, please don't let him turn out to be another Bill Cosby....) I actually felt myself pulling for them when they weren't playing us.

So, there's one part of me that would be glad to see Clint Bowen in Manhattan. I think he'd finally get to be part of a consistently good team and he'd be mentored by what has to be considered one of the best college coaches, maybe of all time. ( Who else could have turned around the worst program in the history of college football like that?)

But it would sure be weird to see Clint in purple and I wholeheartedly agree that if that happens, Zenger should be sent packing.

I'm not convinced that he shouldn't be sent packing anyway.....

New Coach Hired David Beaty • Dec 05, 2014 07:54 PM

@jaybate-1.0 I have the same yucky feeling. Clint Bowen would have been a much better hire (in my opinion). He's rooted in Lawrence, is well liked and respected by fans and players. Has played D-1 ball and has head coaching experience. Eight games, but it's still more than this other dude. Oh well, I guess it's only football.

I don't really feel that way, but I have to numb myself into not caring.

Jimmy V • Dec 04, 2014 08:24 PM

@nwhawkfan I'm very sorry for your loss. I need to learn to read this stuff when I'm at home, and not at work. Or keep a box of Kleenex at my desk......

Jimmy V • Dec 04, 2014 04:54 PM

Speaking of non-sports related topics, does anyone have any ideas or opinions on who KU's next football coach will be ?

Jimmy V • Dec 04, 2014 02:35 PM

I remember on the "other" site it was taboo to talk about anything other than sports. KU sports.

I love the talk about sports on this site. There are many insightful and entertaining contributors.

I ***cherish *** the non-sports talk that takes place here.

You guys and gals are the best.

Head Coaching Job • Dec 02, 2014 08:34 PM

@wissoxfan83

"But the lustre that is Nebraska football is greatly tarnished now and I'd be surprised if it ever returns to the glory days under Osborne."

Question: Could that ever happen to KU in basketball ?

Head Coaching Job • Dec 02, 2014 12:42 PM

Part of me says get Pelini (or any other "big time" coach).

Part of me REALLY wants Bowen to get the job and succeed.

Part of me says "does it really matter who is the coach at KU? Will the University and fans ever get behind football? "

I think if Vince Lombardi were alive and in his prime and coached in Lawrence, he'd be about 3-9 most years.

Frankamp to Wichita St • Dec 02, 2014 12:38 PM

There's a lot of mixed emotions regarding CF and WSU, but all I know is this.

I don't like the WSU fans (I'd say hate, but that seems a little harsh at 6:30 in the morning).

I ........HATE (it's 6:31 now) their coach Slimeball Marshall. I think his hair just got a little greasier and his as$ a little more pompous as he figures he "stole" a star from the Chickenhawks. Yes Gregg, we KNOW you're ranked higher than us.

Right now.

Faith, Family, KUbuckets! • Nov 27, 2014 11:55 AM

That's what I'm thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving Y'all !

Eat too much, nap a lot and ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK.

Goooooood Morning Lawrence, Kansas!! • Nov 25, 2014 12:33 PM

@jaybate-1.0 CF + pt => 40%

Oh well.....

NEW CBB RANKINGS OUT-2 HRS AGO • Nov 24, 2014 09:37 PM

@globaljaybird If Foster had landed in Lawrence, he probably would have transferred by now.

Mid range shooting • Nov 23, 2014 11:14 PM

@brooksmd If I remember correctly, you're in Looziana now ? Wow, talk about some major culture shock. It sounds like you're quite the outdoorsman. I guess if I lived there, I'd probably do the same. Get out there in the snow and have some fun!

Mid range shooting • Nov 23, 2014 01:33 PM

@brooksmd I've always been a fanatic fisherman. I used to hunt and probably would again, especially for self-defense or food. I like everything I see about Alaska. The scenery is unparalleled. I would definitely live there -

during the two months of good weather they have each year!! And the TV shows never talk about the bird sized mosquitos. Wonder why?

The Rider Broncos • Nov 22, 2014 11:15 PM

@wrwlumpy Are teams that beat them Bronco Riders?

And I loved the SNL cowbell skit - one of the best of all time.

Mid range shooting • Nov 22, 2014 04:28 PM

@dylans Like the rarified air in my house last night, after ham & beans.

I'm Done • Nov 22, 2014 04:27 PM

@wissoxfan83

DUDE.....!

Your "story" made me think though. As frustrated, angry, disappointed, upset, pissed, mad, hurt as I've been over the past several years. I've never remotely considered not being a KU fan. I've called names, pointed fingers, generally acted immature and childish.

But here I am. To stay.

Mid range shooting • Nov 22, 2014 11:31 AM

@DanR I have a serious case of stupid goin on. I'm hooked on Alaska. TV shows, anyway.

Buying Alaska.

Living Alaska.

Alaska: The Last Frontier

There's about 20 more that I don't watch. Only because there's not enough time in the day. Oddly enough, I've never seen "North to Alaska".

It's not my fault - Mario Chalmers started it.

Mid range shooting • Nov 22, 2014 12:54 AM

@JayHawkFanToo I think YOU and I were watching the same game though.

Until I turned to watch " Buying Alaska ". Lol.
