Oh well. At least K-State lost today.
F word
@Crimsonorblue22 at the same time?
@kjayhawks we also have been called for 6 times as many penalties 😳
Grimm is to KU as Kelce is to KC
@patoh3 I was being facetious. But thanks!
Maybe rest Daniels and let Bean play. For 2 or 3 games
Looks like a pass attempt to me.
Same officiating crew as last week?
Go back to the black uniforms. Every. Single. Game.
Super glad I'm staying up late for this...
72 - 1. Because of the two players that sit the first half.
@wissox Hey brother, I had forgotten about that exchange, but the whole idea of targeting has the potential to really negatively impact games. Because it's rarely called right. I mean think about it - if you tackle with your arms, what's going to happen? You're going to miss the tackle. Every time. If you involve your chest/midsection your head is right there too. It's not possible to have your helmet completely away from the tackle. I totally agree with the helmet to helmet call (and even some of them are unavoidable when you're going 20 mph and flying through the air). I don't want anyone (even K-State or Mizzou) players to get hurt. But when it's not helmet to helmet I think it shouldn't be a penalty. Especially not a miss half a game penalty. Just my opinion.
I have a simple solution to targeting. Take off the helmets and see how many people lead with their heads.
@AsadZ I'd have felt a whole lot better about this if it was 5 days ago.
@wissox I believe the targeting call was designed to eliminate helmet to helmet contact. Seems like in a football game, you would have to detach your head to not make contact with your helmet somewhere. If someone hit me in the stomach with their helmet, I'd probably puke on them. But it should not be a call that gets a player thrown out of a game.
Two things:
1) Never again wear any uniforms that aren't black.
2) Help me launch an investigation into the dirtiest/ stupidest officiating crew in the history of football.
With an honest/non vision impaired crew we win 58-7.
@dylans I understand the "philosophy" of not playing starters all the time during the pre-season. I don't agree with it, but I understand it. I mean you don't want Kelce getting hurt in a pre-season game, right? But it's ok to hurt his knee in practice. My point being, they're going to play 17+ games anyway. If they're serious about making a deep run in the post season, they should be serious about getting a rhythm, a system down in the pre-season. None of the Chiefs looked like they'd ever played before. I didn't research it, but I'll bet the Lions starters played more than 1 set of downs in the pre-season. Practice makes perfect.
Am I the only one who thought / thinks / will always think that Reid is a dumbass for not going for fourth and TWO on the Lion's 22 yard line and opted to kick a meaningless field goal?
@Crimsonorblue22 Lol - that's what I told him - if I can score some tickets sometime!!
@Crimsonorblue22 Speaking of new leaves - I think somewhere down the line I've at least mentioned that my (now 32 year old) son graduated from K-State. He was never into sports, so he didn't care AT ALL about my obsession with KU. When I say he wasn't into sports - he lived one block from the football stadium in Manhattan. ONE block. He never went to a single game.
Friday night, he's singing the Alma Mater song, the Rock Chalk chant, he's waving the wheat after every score. My jaw was on the ground. And he was INTO the game. Jumping up - fist in the air on good (or questionable) plays. I didn't know what was going on. But it was one of the best sports nights of my life.
Good guys 42 - other guys 23
@FarmerJayhawk I absolutely plan on it. And now I know where to park!
@Crimsonorblue22 It was Awesome!! Everything about the evening was great! Great crowd, great company (my son), great game (in my opinion), great seats, great parking (thank you @FarmerJayhawk !). Even the traffic was pretty decent. Can't wait to go again.
@stoptheflop Yes, 50% is pretty close. I don't get it either. Did they have to get to the bars before they closed?
I know for sure that TWO tickets have been sold. My guess is 56 - 10.
@wissox How does this happen? Every professional sporting event (plus concerts) I've been to in the last 10 years or so checks for weapons.
@kjayhawks I did that! 25 years ago.....:(
@FarmerJayhawk Thank you so much! That is fantastic. I really appreciate the effort you put into this.
@FarmerJayhawk Probably just for the game, so I was thinking about getting there around 5:00 pm. We're both mobile, but that's very thoughtful of you to think of that.
My son and I are going to the home opener (football) on September 1st. I am not familiar with Lawrence at all and was wondering if anyone could tell me specifics about where to park. I don't care if it costs to park - I just don't know where to go. It's been about 5 years since my last game and I wound up parking at Wal-Mart and taking an Uber. I'd prefer to do something different this time. I am geographically challenged - you can't be too specific. Thank you very much!
Thanks, Dawg
@jayballer67 I feel like we have a LOT of company. It's just the way of the world now. No respect, no morals, no sense of community or loyalty. And I believe it's going to keep getting worse. I don't normally consider myself to be negative on a large scale, but I do try to be realistic. :man_shrugging_light_skin_tone:
@Texas-Hawk-10 It's one thing to dislike/hate him as an AD, but I hope everyone is respectful that he was still a person with friends and family.

Oooops. Favorite DUNK.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Parents can teach their kids to have a strong work ethic, or to be lazy and self absorbed. Everything that's been talked about here (except celebrities) is on the parents. It doesn't matter if it was in the 1950's, 1990's or now. You can choose to raise them however you want.
I'm not disagreeing with you - just rambling. My parents taught me that.
@kjayhawks Oh, don't get me started on the cell phone. Whoops. TOO LATE. Here we go. And I don't necessarily think it's the age of the person, but their character. I know 75 year olds that have the stupid thing fused to their hand and are on it until they pass out at night from exhaustion. My kids are 40 and 32 and yeah, they use their phone, but I'm proud that they know when to use it.
I'll put off some people here - sorry in advance. I'm a Christian and the more I think about it, the more I believe the cell phone is Satan's greatest tool since sex was invented. It is a giant distraction from the things that we should be taking care of. Family. Friends. Jobs. Not to mention the dangers of texting and driving.
OOOPS - gotta run. I've got a text. Good thing traffic is light.....
I think Sanders is a buff-oon. ;)
@wissox There's some sick irony to the fact that, in recent years, the Fourth of July is the day of the year that sees the most mass shootings. This country is not in good shape.
My idea of a perfect game is free parking, 78⁰ at first pitch, they have $1 hot dogs and drinks and the Royals win.
@Crimsonorblue22 Prayers for quick healing! Good luck at your appointment.
@wissox Prayers for a full and speedy recovery!
Hey, I don't get a commission on this - but you all should read "What It Means To Be A Jayhawk". It's little snippets from some of the greats in KU history. Pretty much all sports are included. I've been a serious KU fan for over 55 years and have heard of or about many of these people, but the stories are wonderful! One thing almost all of them seem to have in common is their actual lifelong love for the University and community of Lawrence. I never went to college, so maybe this is a universal thing ?? But I can tell you, I don't give one big crap about the high school I graduated from or town than I went to high school in, so that was very interesting and heartwarming for me to hear.
@wissox The security escort to my car. I thought I was going to get my butt kicked 100 times.
My favorite KU game was actually at the Octagon of Dumb in 1994. The Wildkitties had their way with us the entire game , but we clawed (with our Jayhawk talons) back into it towards the very end. Steve Woodbury hit a 25 footer as the clock expired and we won! (by one point, I believe). Apparently, I was the only Jayhawk fan in attendance that evening because you could hear a pin drop when I thrust both fists in the air and shouted "SUCK IT K-STATE". I seem to remember needing security to walk me to my car....
Almost all of this is true.
@DanR good for you partner. We aren't from Lawrence and in my humble opinion the parking sucks
@FarmerJayhawk No, I'm not Catholic. :)
@Kcmatt7 In my humble opinion, they could not possibly screw up parking any worse than it is right now. The last time I went to a game (4-5 years ago), we had to park at Walmart and take an Uber. Pathetic.
“I knew it was kind of a no-no, but there’s not a rule saying it can’t happen,” Steve Lemke said. “There’s not a law saying I’m going to go to jail for doing something like this. There’s nothing in stone. I guess it’s just an ethics code, like we frown upon it, but there’s no rule, there’s no law broken.”
Mark it down, Bucketeers. This ol man is speechless.
Let's qualify for a bowl game first and then worry about the location
