About what I expected...solid defense leading to less-than-stellar shooting. Could be a case of "last team to score wins".
@Crimsonorblue22 Fortunately my HS was within walking distance of the ballpark.
One of the teachers almost caught me skipping school. The next day he asked if I skipped after 3rd period. I said no. (I actually left after 4th period.) Years later at a reunion I fessed up, and he just shook his head in mock disgust.
Hard to believe it's been exactly 50 years since the very first Royals game at old Municipal Stadium. Lou Piniella went 4-for-5 as they beat the Twins 4-3.
I skipped school to see the game...Unfortunately I missed the end 'cause it went into extra innings and I had to catch the last bus back to my neighborhood.
The ballpark was only half-full for the season opener, around 17,000 in the stands. (Considerably fewer than that tonight at the K for the game against the Mariners.)
Exactly five years later to the day, I sat in my dorm room at KU and watched Hank Aaron hit his 715th career homer for the Braves to break Babe Ruth's record. Still the legit home run king as far as I'm concerned.

Or...just call it the tournament to determine that all-important 69th Best Team In America.
Gregg Marshall should've taken one of those big-money coaching offers he had before his program went into decline.
Happy Schadenfreude everybody!

Maybe I spoke too soon when I talked about that Washington-UNC matchup.

Mississippi St as a 5-seed was really bizarre to me, so I picked Liberty to win. They were a 10, now 11-loss team and their only top 25 win was a close home win against Auburn. Good job, Flames.
This sort of thing could give future tournament committees pause when it comes to picking mediocre teams from the big conferences.
Maybe in coming years they'll give a break to more of the good mid-major teams who just happened to get upset in their conference tourneys.
Another 12 beats a 5. Jerry Falwell U. over Mississippi State.
That's 3 out of 4 wins for 12 seeds this year. If only the Aggies had come through against Auburn...
Watching Washington close out Utah State. Huskies are a hard team to figure out. They play great defense, but streaky on offense. For a team with a lot of seniors, they can really go brain-dead at times. Hard to see them getting past Carolina.
Still a puncher's chance for the Bi-zzzon. Their inside game is working pretty well so far. Gotta start hitting threes tho.
A bit surprised to see Oregon beat Wisconsin so badly (the 12-v-5 matchup aside). They strike me as a team a lot like KSU...they usually have trouble getting up for anybody who isn't a rival (Washington, Oregon State).
And to add to the misery in Manhattan, their women's team couldn't make it out of the first round either. Lost by 30 to Michigan.
Vols avoid the upset. Too bad...I was waiting for the "COLGATE BRUSHES ASIDE TENNESSEE"" headlines.
So now that the Big West has a tourney upset, can the Big South be far behind? Gardner-Webb leads UVA at halftime.
Well done Anteaters
See ya kitties!

Well done guys. Truth be told, I'd rather we played KSU tomorrow for the revenge factor, but whatever...

Somebody's been watching old video of Svi!
Got a kick out of the huge midcourt banner ad "EIGHT NET TOP 50 TEAMS." A not-so-subtle message from the Big XII to the NCAA tournament committee, not to mention the national media. .
What's the opposite of subliminal advertising?
Huggy tomorrow. Nothing scarier than playing a team with nothing to lose.
EXHALE
Time to play Hack-A-Hawk.

Last year was a struggle for about an 8 game stretch starting with washington...everybody was having career nights.
Yeah, but in those games at least we put in the work.
Remember when we used to have only one or two awful performances per season?
We're looking at a dreaded 5-vs-12 seed matchup in the tournament

Clear the bench Bill, 3 damn times in a row we get beat up the floor. Lazy lazy, I'm out if can show any heart please everyone transfer
Roy did that once early in the game...yanked all the starters and put in the bench. Starters got the message and won the game. Don't know if that would work on these guys.

Of course if I'm OU I'm looking at empty sections in the stands and thinking what the heck fans, where are you? Of course, Fran runs his mouth. That was so NOT a charge.
Most Big 12 schools should thank their lucky stars that KU is in their conference, otherwise it'd be crickets in the stands for EVERY home game.
There's more of that stellar perimeter D.
Hell of an effort by Wake. Don't know if it's enough to save Danny's job though.
@wissox Fat Tuesday perhaps?
Happy Fat Tuesday everyone! Geaux Jayhawks!

@wissox Yeah, that'd be a damn shame. Let 'em wait.

Yeah, that '73-'74 Final Four team was great...Ted Owens ran a double post offense with Danny Knight & Rick Suttle. Cook, Morningstar, Greenlee, Kivisto, etc.
