1: Christian: yup, thought heās been good the last few games. aggressive. He did some things at the rim we havenāt really seen before.
2: Remy: This will be a season-long growing process. He obviously got feedback from the NBA guys, who said with his size he needs to learn to be a true point. So, heās gotta learn how to be a point, which given my limited viewing of him seems to be against his nature to wanna shoot.
3: Dave: who the eff knows.
4: Driving the paint: not sure I agree with your assessment here. Even Och seems to have upped his game here.
@Marco said in Dayton Game Thread:
@rockchalkjayhawk like @BShark said, two of three players need to be on the floor for us at all times. I want Braun to play 40 mpg! Lol
Didn't see that BShark mention @Marco
well, i couldn't agree more! depending on who the three guys are...
Harris' contribution today = 0
Dude needs way less PT.
Insert somebody who at least is a threat offensively and can come close defensively.
well crap. that sucks.
that game was looking like it had potential for a large marge win early on.
Agreed with some that Bill hasn't worked out his rotations/lineups yet. or maybe i'm agreeing with myself. i saw a few suspect (to me) lineups on the floor. Hate it when he has like 1 or 0 shooters on the floor, which he did today (JCL was the only dude on the floor who could shoot at one point). I don't recall if we were losing momentum though, so can say that was the issue.
Crap!
@BeddieKU23 said in UNT Turkey Day Game Thread:
Dave is just wired wrong on the court, you would have thought maturity would have slowed him down but everything is rushed and just unbalanced. It's all mental
Yup, exactly. I had the same thoughts last night about his wiring being mixed up. There has to be a simple fix in there somehow.
Then I started thinking, OK, Dave is Dave. Did his surrounding and supporting cast change the way they are doing things, which is messing up his game? His spot on the floor changed? Stuff like that?
Maybe heās not good at change (new guys in rotation), and needs adjustment time?
Lotta good today, but also some bad.
I think we would have won regardless, but it sure helped North Texas couldnāt hit a 3.
I was annoyed every time the announcers said āTexasā did something instead of āNorth Texasā. Kinda like saying āKansasā did something if āKansas Stateā was playing.
Soooo many skip passes today. Remy was tossing fastballs everywhere! His shot selection needs work. But we really need his scoring skills when the offense breaks down.
How long did we have to wait last year for Big Dave to bust his slump? Conference play? I repeat myself when saying he can learn some composure from Mitch.
Gonzaga. Jesus!
So just turned the game on just before the end of the half. We got a ton of guys hurt?
So if you didnāt watch the game last night, and just looked at the box score, it looks like Big Dave had a good game. 12 points, 8 boards, 1 block, decent percentages. But sure didnāt seem to pass the eyeball test if you were watching.
You would think by now heād be calmer in the paint. I hate to even suggest it, but why isnāt he learning from Mitch? Despite his shortcomings, he can post and make a baby hook ā calmly.
I hope late last season Dave shows up soon!
Is it fair to say Clemence has the nicest looking form on his shot on the team this year?
Dudeās gotta play.
First half: no comment
Second half: plenty of comment! I was getting fired up to unleash on Self for leashing Remy ā Til I heard the post game news about his back. Still, let the dude shoot. Pls.
ZACH FREAKING CLEMENCE!!!!!!!!!! So happy heās gettIng some run. Such a smooth shot. More, pls.
Pettiford deserves any PT he gets. I see others thought he played poorly. I was happy with his play.
Are we to assume Self simply didnāt want to bring in a big to compete with Dave??? Why?
Anyways, great second half. Rock chalk!
@Marco Consider yourself lucky.
@Marco said in One year ago today:
Good. You are both important to this site, let's move on. Hamilton got a raw deal, but their rivalry was documented for years. When Hamilton posted that newspaper article though,,, it was game on lol.
My wife made me watch that damned musical! :(
At least i didn't have to watch it over and over and over like she did... :)
This board turning into āthat other boardā? I hope not.
Itās been a respite from the usual hostility.
@Kcmatt7 Just saying, sked ain't a cake walk.
And don't forget the NFL added a game this season, so Chiefs have 7 games to play, with 3 roadies (and the last two on the road).
@Kcmatt7 hey, waddya mean the schedule is favorable??? Cowboys, Steelers...hmmm. That donāt look favorable!
Tennesseeās sked looks favorable.
This topic is far too serious to take on when thereās football on!
@mayjay said in Tarleton Game Thread:
@rockchalkjayhawk I loaded the ESPN app onto my Roku today so future games should be better. Plus, I will now be able to watch the games and follow game threads simultaneously!
Youāve got more brainpower than me @mayjay . I go into overload trying to watch and follow game threads at the same time!
Interesting game. Not easy playing against all those little guards.
I had no ESPN+ issues. I stream thru the app on my TV, which is hard wired.
New favorite player: KJ
New favorite announcer: Wayne! Excellent job. Very knowledgeable I thought.
So it looks like Remy needs time to learn how to play within Selfās system. Understandable. Just hope he and Self donāt have it out.
We need a big.
Well, there ya go. OBJ to Chiefs was just clickbait.
Rams? didn't see that coming.
Some reporting that the Chiefs are leading the OBJ race at the moment:
āThe latest chatter around the NFL points to the Chiefs pulling ahead in the pursuit of the standout wide receiver, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk notes.ā
So the rumor mill is flying.
Chiefs one of like four teams heās interested in.
Would ya want him to be a Chief, or not.
Dudeās a head case IMO. But would be nice to have!
Yay or nay?
So I dunno much about KJ. what position will he play? Is he a SF, PF?
He doesnāt look like a traditionally sized player (arms seem short).
Anybody in the know?
Pretty happy with that opening performance!
Och was on fire.
And how bout them freshmen? Most of the world thought Clemence wouldnāt play. Well, he played, and contributed valuable stats and minutes. Attaboy!
KJ Adams is bouncy.
OK, Go Hawks!
Signing off so i can finish up work and watch the DVR'd version later.
Spaced on Jalen.
@KirkIsMyHinrich said in Michigan State Game Thread:
@rockchalkjayhawk CB probably will when Jalen comes back
Excellent point.
Sigh.
Was hoping Harris and CB would be bench guys this year.
Guess not.
We better out-quick em tonight!
Should have asked this here and not the other thread;
who's starting tonight?
We get a starting lineup for tonight yet?
I gotta work some more, so will DVR it for tonight.
Well, that can only mean one thing, for better and possibly worse: More Mitch time!
Cam Martin with the red shirt??? Wow.
That is out of the blue.
Anybody else yet?
I thought Cam would get some PT this year. Next year won't guys like Adams and Clemence log jam his spot?
Weird.
I could only watch on RedZone today. So, didnāt see too much of the game. Is it that Mahomes needs more, better WR targets? The guys behind Kelce and Hill seem like they canāt get open.
@wissox As mentioned above ... you missed Self already telling Remy (written in my best Cartman voice from South Park): Respect My Authoritah!
Hi, all.
Glad to have a place to chat about the Jayhawks.
Joined many moons ago but havenāt been active in awhile (and spaced on my user name!) thanks to Beddie for that breakdown. Spot on.
Iāll add a few tidbits...
Pretty happy to have hoops back! Everybody looked good last night.
Och looks fit. Hope he has a great year and expands his game a bit off the dribble.
The new guys:
Will be very exciting to watch the new guards. Should be a fun crew.
Remy is full of swagger. Will be interesting to see how that goes over with teammates in good times and bad.
Yesu looked off. Hoping it was nerves as suggested above. He got up though!
Adams. I think Iām gonna like him.
I actually thought Clemence was more solidly built than I expected. Concerns about his quickness levels off the bat though. I thought it would be the opposite.
Pettiford!!!! Solid play from a young guy.
Slight concern that all our littles seem kinda little??? Remy, Petti, Yesu, Harris. A few have solid builds of course, but hoping height not an issue vs bigger opponents.
