Emporia State EXI • Oct 20, 2018 01:36 PM

Thank goodness we now have actual dribbling, shooting and defending to talk about. I still like playing the Kansas colleges; Emporia State has players from Burlington, Osage City, Spring Hill, Bonner Springs and Tonganoxie. I think it's great that Kansas kids get to play in Allen Fieldhouse.

And, Emporia State brings a new coach to the game. Craig Doty just got hired in April and gets to play the Jayhawks as his first game for Emporia. Welcome aboard Coach. Good luck.

KU starters: Dok, Dedric, Grimes and..... . I say Vick and Moore. Both because they've been in the program and know how KU operates. Rock Chalk.

Pop the Patriots • Oct 15, 2018 12:50 AM

Brady's missing passes too. Mahomes must get it going.

Pop the Patriots • Oct 15, 2018 12:19 AM

The NFL scheduling doesn't seem fair. The Chiefs played NE at NE the first game last year and now play them there again. I'd be interested how the schedules are weighted. But, Go Chiefs.

WVU Game • Oct 07, 2018 02:30 AM

Weird WV defensive play: 11 players defend the pass and no one rushed. I've watched a lot of football, but I've never seen all 11 defenders drop and cover the receivers. Our Oline looked really perplexed. The only good thing? We completed the pass over the top.

Okie State Game Thread • Sep 29, 2018 06:02 PM

Getting beaten today is bad enough, right? Why is FOX showing plays from other games where we were also beaten?

Okie State Game Thread • Sep 29, 2018 05:59 PM

Shouldn't Bowen have been fired at halftime? Or at least by the end of the 3rd Q? Our safeties stink.

Tonight!!! • Sep 27, 2018 03:06 PM

I don't know anything about 2 Chainz, but I still play the rap song from Late Night a couple of years ago on basketball game days. Everyone at my office knows it's KU basketball game day because I play over and over the Game On song by Tech Nine and Krizz Kaliko. I use it as my haka before big games. Game On Jayhawks.

Mahomes • Sep 23, 2018 06:39 PM

The Chiefs organization really got the draft selection right when they traded to move up to take Mahomes. Wow. No. 15 makes it look easy.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 23, 2018 01:31 PM

I'm really disappointed with the offense, particularly the offensive line. I no longer have any faith in Doug Meacham. He can leave Lawrence immediately for all the good he's done. The defense was OK. Bowen's an idiot for not being ready to stop Brewer's runs. Eventually, the adjustment was made to stop Brewer from running, but the damage was done. Several of Brewer's long passes were spot-on, so I give him credit for beating our Dbacks. Coming in, Baylor was averaging 40 pts. a game. The defense kept us in the game, but the offense never showed up, Pathetic really. Please fire Beaty and Meacham right now; I'll drive them to the Kansas border in any direction they want to go. If not Beaty and Meacham, then fire A.J. Ricker. I can't believe Beaty was talking up the offensive line during pregame as the most improved unit on the team. The offensive line penalties were drive killers with this offense that can't move the ball anyway.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 10:51 PM

Yeah, Carter Stanley. At least we'll have over 100 yds. rushing.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 10:47 PM

130 yds of penalties today. More than our passing yds, 119 and more than our rushing yds, 89 separately. Terrible, horrible play today. Boo.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 10:12 PM

When we don't force TOs, we really struggle.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 10:02 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 I agree. Two defenders waiting to make sure our receiver doesn't make the first down. What's the deal with all our plays barely beating the clock?

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 09:59 PM

The offense is moving the ball some. The offense looks better this half.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 09:50 PM

Well we are winning the 3rd Q.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 08:59 PM

@BShark One TV angle showed our No. 19 spying in the middle of the field.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 08:50 PM

Beaty should at least give Kendrick a series. Bender isn't getting the job done today.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 08:38 PM

KU offense: 46 pass; 4 rush. Brewer: 58 rush; 124 pass; and 2 TDs. OUCH

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 08:32 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 Bowen's defense sucks. Letting the Baylor QB run at will.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 08:25 PM

Unfortunately, this looks like the KU football team of the last 4 years. Can the coaches and players turn this around. A TO would help.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 08:13 PM

Our secondary is just getting burned. Good grief

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 07:45 PM

Tough start. Almost a pick six against Bender. His receiver was covered by at least 3 defenders. Hoo Boy, not a good start.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 07:39 PM

@Kcmatt7 After looking good against OU last week, I State looked very average today against Akron. Average, unless the Zips are better than you'd normally think.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 07:24 PM

I have a tough time listening to Coach Beaty. I've completely lost confidence in him. During his pregame comments he said this year's team is focused on running the ball to keep control of time of possession. Also, focusing on not turning the ball over. Finally, that the offensive line has legitimate 2 deeps now and has made the most strides from last year.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 05:50 PM

Anyone else watching Mayfield at Cleveland? Our QB needs a little of that Mayfield attitude when on the field. That guy knows he's going to get it done.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 05:12 PM

@jayballer73 I'm watching a lot of the Georgia/Missouri game. I watched the Georgia freshman QB, Jake Fromm on the Netflix series QB1 and want to see how he does in the SEC.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 05:04 PM

I'm fine with Bender starting. Our pass offense just has to improve and he gives us the best chance of the necessary improvement. I sure hope Bender practiced the fade pattern this week and gets to throw it successfully several times. I thought Kendrick's play last week was good enough to make him the starter, but Bender adds a level of stability to the offense. Kendrick's available if Bender makes mistakes. I think today's success comes down to how long the offense can hold onto the ball and how much the defense resembles its play the last two weeks.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 12:57 PM

Today in Waco we will see if KU football really has really turned a corner and become competitive in the Big 12. Our defense must be successful to get a win over Baylor. Baylor plays two QBs, each of whom has been intercepted. I don't expect two pick six gifts like last week, but I do see our defense playing with more confidence and aggression. We've got to show we can pressure the QB and our defensive backs can cover the skilled Bears' receivers. A great defensive effort is necessary to win this game.

So, if our offense stacks together several first downs on each series and keeps the Baylor offense off the field, KU football will be competitive today and just may pull off the upset. I really like that our rushing offense has controlled the ball, but we must get the passing offense going. I look forward to everyone's comments during the game. Rock Chalk.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 20, 2018 11:06 AM

It's great what the two wins have done for KU football fans. KU is a 7 and a half point underdog at Baylor. We may actually talk about a W in Waco. Starting QB Bender is going to have to throw the ball some to keep Baylor's defense honest. What's up with Sims and his drops? I hope Meacham and Beaty are working hard on the medium level passes, 8-12 yds. Baylor and the rest of the BIG 12 will load the box to stop the rush, so Bender's passing and our receivers's catching must improve. I'm actually looking forward to the Baylor challenge rather than dreading it like years' past.

Who Will KU Be This Season?...Now • Sep 16, 2018 03:26 PM

I don't think I've ever heard Coach Self make as strong of statement about a player who hasn't played a single minute in a game that counts as he did about Dedric. If Dedric has so impressed Coach Self, I tend to think our offense will go through him. Dedric first, then the rest of the strong supporting players on offense. I was really impressed with the way Grimes fed the bigs during the FIBA tournament. I look for this year's team to feed the post and then look to the guards to drive and shoot 3s as the secondary part of our offense. I could see Dedric, Dok and Silvio averaging 16 a game.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 16, 2018 01:02 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 The biggest difference I see this year is the defense is everywhere and playing hard. TO's are weird; how could the Rutgers freshman QB just throw it straight to Torneden and Lee. The fumbles were caused by our defense. We've really turned the corner on defense.

The second difference is the running backs are running much harder; after first contact they are keeping it going. Last year, the backs seemed to go down every time on first contact. Baylor is very beatable, but we have to keep running the ball hard. Our QB play is still very weak. We've got to complete more mid-range passes. How great would a Big 12 road victory be for our program? It'll take our best effort yet and Pooka will be no surprise to Baylor.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 09:30 PM

Passing 15/25 for 144 yds. and 1 TD. I think the Air Raid offense has left the stadium.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 09:21 PM

The Rutgers box score makes for some fun reading. How about Deron Thompson's second half effort: 3 rushes, 70 yds. and 1 TD. Nice. Very Nice. 400 yds. rushing as a team. Six running backs and 3 QBs carrying the rock.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 07:11 PM

@kjayhawks I think they are just giving the Sophmore kicker some game time.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 06:58 PM

If you're the KU coach, Pooka's on the bench now right? Carter Stanley ought to finish this out.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 06:51 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 This game has identified our best QB, Kendrick, is getting the running game going and has been a great defensive effort. Win, Win and Win. RCJH

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 06:41 PM

Still not getting enough points out of these TO's. Time to get some of the reserves in in the 4th Q to work on depth.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 06:32 PM

Well finally we have a QB. Even Beaty can't fail to see Kendrick is the man.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 06:23 PM

Wasted TO.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 06:05 PM

KU on offense to start the second half. We've got to get this W.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 05:54 PM

Except for the late 2nd Q drive, this is the best I've seen the KU defense play in the last 10 years. The second half is going to be interesting. I know it's hot on the field, so we'll see how deep our team is.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 05:39 PM

The defense must hold these guys out on this possession. HOLD THESE B's.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 05:38 PM

@BShark Look at you BShark. Coming around to fully support these guys. Way to go, Jayhawks.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 05:31 PM

WOW, the defense really looked bad on that drive.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 05:25 PM

@Kcmatt7 Yeah, Bender's passes just aren't on the mark today. He's missing way more than he's making.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 05:22 PM

I forgot how much fun KU football can be when the defense plays light out and the offense is at least competent. RCJH

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 05:12 PM

Bender is back in and the offense stalls the first two plays. Why not just play Kendrick the rest of the half?

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 05:03 PM

Iowa St showing up at home to make it interesting. IState 10 Ok 10 Second Q

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 05:02 PM

Mike Lee with the terrific return after the interception. That way the offense doesn't get a chance to blow it.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 15, 2018 04:55 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 Nice to have the TO's, but the offense isn't capitalizing on them. We should have 31 points.
