Wilson and Gradey 0-8 from 3. Unexpected.

Zuby banging is great

Dook Game Thread • Nov 16, 2022 04:00 AM

@BeddieKU23 Udeh is really going for the blocks and has 4, but gives up position and only has 1 rebound.

Dook Game Thread • Nov 16, 2022 03:21 AM

Gradey is 3-8, Wilson 5-10

Dook Game Thread • Nov 16, 2022 03:08 AM

Holy crap

Dook Game Thread • Nov 16, 2022 02:33 AM

@benshawks08 That would make sense. I wouldn't think he'd stay in Lawrence, but I wasn't sure.

Think Self traveled to Indianapolis with the team, until he turned into a pumpkin at midnight last night?

Taking on DOOK • Nov 15, 2022 04:58 AM

Free throws could be a concern if the game is close, given we've only hit 52% so far.

Zuby had 7 boards in 7 minutes. Nice rate.

Udeh hamming it up for the camera. Funny.

Zach played better last year when he was pissed. Maybe that knock to the face will help.

1 shot, no fouls assigned to a player

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 01:03 AM

In February we probably won't see <3 starters on the floor at the same time. Lots more variety now.

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 01:00 AM

@wissox I like these kinds of games at this point in the season. NDSU doesn't suck, decent size, so fun opponent to play while I'm still trying to figure out who these players are and see what they can do. I can look at different things when it's not so close. I think the coaches have more opportunity to experiment with lineups when there's a buffer in the score.

New rule at AFH...

After watching Harris stop short on reaching for a loose ball on the sideline, no babies allowed in the front row! :)

Dangerous.

Is that what happened? It looked weird, and I couldn't figure out why he stopped short.

This must be a Norm Roberts lineup.

Fargo Game Thread • Nov 11, 2022 12:28 AM

Marquise Jacari Rice - I'd go with MJ too.

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 06:09 PM

@rockchalkjayhawk KJ's offensive rebounding was stellar, but defensive rebounding was deficient. Wilson is the opposite, but he's a different position. So I'm still puzzled why the rebounding mindset on offense doesn't translate to defense for KJ.

Peyton Manning Game Thread • Nov 08, 2022 01:05 AM

@wissox Google says: We hear it every week during football season. A quarterback will rush his offense up to the line, scream “Omaha” to signal an audible or a snap count, then receive the snap and continue with the play. Manning was the most well-known user of the term

Jalon Daniels • Oct 12, 2022 01:16 AM

Matt Tait says: Zac Boyer, a former employee of @KUSports who has done freelance work for us recently, tweeted Daniels is out for the year. That info wasn’t submitted to us & didn't go thru our reporting process.

I like the emphasis on former.

@Texas-Hawk-10 said in JUST BEAT THE TCU LIZARDS:

We also saw why Daniels beat out Bean for the QB. Bean doesn't have great touch his passes. As great as that Fairchild catch was, Bean put it in a bad spot. Also on that dump off to Neal where he was wide open on that last drive, Daniels likely makes that throw. Bean is a great option for a back up, but we also saw why he was the back up yesterday with his accuracy on his passes.

Exactly, well put. I was going to make the same point right after the game, but abandoned a poorly worded draft because I didn't want to come across negatively toward Bean. He stepped in and was fantastic. But starting QB is Daniels' job if he's healthy. Sure hope he isn't out long. We are quite fortunate to have such a strong backup, but there is a difference.

It's in. Hit blue first.

JUST BEAT THE TCU LIZARDS • Oct 08, 2022 04:57 PM

Lean, mean, Jason Bean.

Last year, KJ played when Bill needed a big who could guard on the perimeter. That was his role. Nothing to do with offense, and there were better options for interior defense. But the way the game has evolved, with more bigs playing on the perimeter, that need will still be there. Unless the new guys can do that better, I think he will still have a role, regardless of how the rest of his game develops. I doubt he will start, but he should get some minutes because he's an athletic, mobile big. But that is a bit of a specialty role. He's a bit undersized to be the starting 5, and has a lot of work to do on offensive skills to be a regular contributor at the 3 or 4.

Adams' douchey comment just makes him sound unaware and narrow-minded, the opposite implication of his intent. And arrogant, of course, but maybe that's on brand.

@wissox Wildlife research on the tundra and the edge of the boreal forest. I traveled up with 4 grad students who are not basketball fans (they have nothing against it, just don't follow). They gave me grief when I originally said I didn't want to travel on that day, just in case. For future trips I'm going to have to remember who is in charge, and sets our priorities!

Annual KU Buckets awards • Apr 29, 2022 03:35 PM

@Jethro Thank you! I had not been able to find the complete game online (but haven't looked in a while). I've watched all the clips and highlights I could find and the last 3 minutes in full, but not the whole game.

The night of the championship game I was on a train to the Arctic, with no internet or cell service. Hit a pocket of service around midnight and found out I had missed the biggest comeback in the history of the NCAA championship. Woke up half the train.

I scheduled this trip back when we weren't playing well, and thought the chances of us playing that night were remote. I was punished for my lack of faith. Still pretty happy with the outcome.
