Another comment, I'll paraphrase "another terrible start, nothing KU is doing we're just being bad". Fans gonna fan I guess.

Looking at IU game chat, found this classic:
"We are dominating the first 30 seconds. Except on the scoreboard"

Shooting 60% which usually works. Too many turnovers or we could be winning like 63-4 or something like that.

@Jethro I thought there was more than 1!

Seems like Mccullars got fouled on that last turnover

@DanR I honestly think they're a bit overrated. This is based on observations I've made as a BIG fan over the years.

The only other Gradey I 'knew' was Fred Sanford's friend.

Adams with the clown show possession

@RockChalkinTexas No, It's usually there, not today for some reason.

@wissox said in KU vs. The Indiana Hoosiers Saturday 11AM This is a BIG GAME!!!:

Minor nit-pick with ESPN. I use ESPN for boxscores. I go to the website where usually there's scores across the top. Nada. Stupid NFL games being played tomorrow are shown, but even after I click NCAAM, there's no scores.

@BeddieKU23 @dylans The one replay they showed confirmed what you said, the live action looked like a foul for sure on 0

I meant to say "Didn't look like a foul on zero" confirming Dylan's statement!

Indiana's all american scoreless. Our All American "kind of quiet so far" has 7.

Johnson fouled Harris first, results in DeJuans 2nd foul

This is great! Everyone gets a rec!

When the sun shines on the court at AFH....

Wow KJ makes a FT!

Xavier Johnson one to watch for the goofy shot

Dicky V!!

Espn has a nice article about how todays slate of games feature 10 potential national champs facing off. They note the dynamic duo of Wilson Dick the top scoring pair in the country.

I don't remember the game @nwhawkfan was referring to. Strange because I do recall a lot of nice moments in our history. But living in the ruralest of places in 1993 means we had very limited TV. I don't even know how I kept up with the Jayhawks back then? I did somehow. Things have changed so much that i don't miss a game unless i can't watch live and don't care to go back and watch us play Central Northern South Dakota state. I do recall being thankful they showed ranked teams scores on the news and since we were almost always ranked I'd see the scores.

I guess it's not possible to add pics to these posts anymore?

@BeddieKU23 Wowa, really? IDK why I thought we were in Bloomington!

Indiana (my home state now) has been fairly consistent. They have played an easy, then tough schedule, and have showed some cracks. Their best win? Nothing stands out. They beat UNC in Bloomington after that once proud program had been exposed. They've twice lost by double digits once to ranked Arizona last Saturday in a neutral court game and once on the road at Piscataway NJ to Rutgers, aka the state university of New Jersey.

They feature an All-American candidate in Trayce Jackson Davis, another decent big in Race Thompson another in the long line of potential Gophers who left Minnesota. They have a decent guard who I also laugh every time he shoots. Kind of reminds me of DeJuans ugly shot, but quite a bit worse. I laughed with glee when he was called on to beat Wisconsin at the end of the game and shot uglyly again. Maybe he'll humor us tomorrow by attempting some of his ugly shots.

Mike Woodson is still trying to win over Indiana fans. It's a tough sell. They're kind of look Nebraska football fans who think they're still relevant nationally. Indiana had one of those get hot streaks in 2002 and played in the NC game, a game we would have played against them had we beat Maryland. Kelvin Sampson was the Hoosier coach. Kelvin was really the last decent coach they've had. Indiana fans are impatient as 2002 was the last final four or even Elite 8. Three sweet 16's a decade ago were signs of hope but Tom Crean could never push them past that level.

The Assembly Hall is a sort of odd looking place. It's kind of like a college football arena with almost zero end zone seats but sideline seats that rise up high into the Bloomington sky. Seeing pictures of it I've been amazed at how high up it rises and have wondered how well you can see from way up there. The back row of the lower deck, which is huge on both sides really looks far away.

This would be a nice win to get for us. Not a must win or anything, but a ranked win on the road is a test that I'm thinking we'll deal them their third double digit loss.

A few pics lumpy style will follow as I can get to them.

Wow, Grambling St has taken out Vanderbilt and also Colorado whom beat Tennessee who beat KU. Grambling should be top 5!

There's kids making millions while playing for their school. What could go wrong.

Oscar is making 2 mil. What's stopping him from becoming a booster and paying some friend of his to come to Kentucky? Or slip a few bills into the pockets of Mr. 5 star making his official visit?

UCLA to Big 10 in 2024? • Dec 15, 2022 03:27 PM

@drgnslayr Phones have increasingly made kids loners as well.

Sorry for the loss of your friend.

UCLA to Big 10 in 2024? • Dec 15, 2022 03:27 AM

I really wish we were at a real Big 10, a real Big 8, a real Pac 10, a real ACC, a real SEC, a real Big East, etc. etc. I don't want KU playing schools like Central Florida and Cinci.

I don't want to stay up til 1 AM watching the Badgers play at USC on a Monday night.

I want KU to play Missouri twice every year in basketball and once in football.

I want Badgers vs. Iowa, and Minnesota every year home and home in basketball and every year in football.

I want to see the Jayhawks make Colorado's year by them beating us once a decade and their crazy fans storm the court.

Oklahoma's gonna miss selling out once a year when we come to town and I'm going to miss facing Lon and his astute coaching too.

Texas can go their own arrogant way, I could care less about them.

I don't want to see Maryland or Rutgers on the Big ten network at 11AM Saturday when they always play football games. They can go back to whatever league they want because they don't belong.

If the Big Ten ever dares again to hold a Big Ten tournament in Madison Square Garden I'll go there and march around it 7 times like Israel marched around Jericho until it's walls collapse.

I really wouldn't mind Nebraska coming back so KU can play in their amazing basketball arena, and heck, we coulda beat them in football this year!

I feel for parents of athletes who must make sacrifices and long car trips now have to buy a plane ticket from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles to see their kid play a game when previously they only needed to hop in the car.

How many parents of KU athletes have it in the budget to fly one week to Salt Lake City
and then to Orlando the next to see their kid play? That might happen, probably will in some sport. Heck a BYU. parent better move to Kansas City if they want a central location to see their kid play on the road.

Heck in some ways I feel for the other PAC 12 teams that lose their two marquee members from a great conference.

Road trips for student athletes will be nightmares for USC and UCLA and BYU. It's a 5 hour flight from NY to LA.

I love college sports but this change to ways it's never been before obviously have me bothered. Never even mentioned NIL and all the complexities with that.

Where's it all going to end up? I'm afraid to watch.

2022-23 stats-PER, Kenpom etc • Dec 13, 2022 10:43 PM

@Jethro Yes, the SOS thing is baffling. It really doesn't like teams that play defense is my observation. Wisconsin plays D but doesn't exactly play UNLV Tarkball. So currently they sit 35th, while they have a 3-1 record against teams ahead of them, with the 1 loss of course being the OT defeat to us. Obviously then Wake Forest says well we beat Wiscy and they're up there ahead of us so what gives? It's why, I think, there needs to be some human element, as there is of course. I hate Iowa as much as any college out there and KP loves them. Iowa hasn't visited the Sweet 16 since last century, heck, last millenium. Yet KP will keep them up there.

Chris Beard Arrested • Dec 12, 2022 05:49 PM

Sad. I hate reading this but about people I liked it's worse. Mickey Joseph a few weeks ago, an acquaintance of mine got arrested for the same up in Lincoln which I'm sure you heard about. Pro sports have shown us it's not a career ender. If you're talented enough someone will overlook it and go back to giving you millions to play/coach for their team. Often wonder how the victims in those situations feel every time they turn on the TV and see the guy on there pitching, catching, running, shooting, or coaching? It must really be a difficult thing to deal with.

Ken Pom is not to be trusted.

Joel goes for 53 tonight in a blowout of the Charlotte team and Oubre who had 29 so 82 points scored by Jayhawks in that one!

This is my tweet. Classic Frantrum tonight in Wisconsin-Iowa game. Cost his team the game as the two FT's in the last five minutes of the game prevented them from winning in regulation.

Finally watching the game. Missouri was laughably bad. One hilarious pick and roll with DeJuan and KJ resulted in KJ dunking the ball with 2 tiggers standing there watching. Announcers trying to keep viewers interested with shouting things like "KU MISSED". "MISSOURI CUTS IT TO 19 POINTS". I learned their coach is a great coach according to the TV guy. As someone mentioned above that team is not any better than some of the directional schools we played.

Adams seized the moment and played a spectacular game.

Dick seems to have one 'unconscious' stretch every game.

Harris just plain boring. Steady, steady, distributing, guarding, setting up. KU ran one beautiful play where Jalen set a back pick for McCullar who was wide open at the line right in front of the KU bench. DeJuan pitched a beautiful pass clear across the court to the wide open MCCullar. To deliver a pass across the lane, the entire width of the court like that without it being tipped was just beautiful.

Jalen continues to write his name into KU lore with one great experience after another. It seems like it was a long time ago he committed to us after de-committing from Michigan and his early struggles to find meaningful minutes. He makes few mistakes and is shooting really well, something I think most of us wouldn't see.

I went back and checked my comments after Duke and it was as I remembered. That day I said our bench is thin. Others disagreed which is fine, I've been wrong before, but as noted above we're winning by 20 or more and our starters are out there in the final 2 minutes. I'm a bit concerned. Cam makes a uh, Cameo, (sorry too easy). Someone's going to have to step up, particularly a big.

Hearing the chant in Columbia is pretty cool.

Had tickets to Bulls-Mavericks so recorded the KU game which of course I see the score while wandering the United Center. The Bulls game sucked because Luka sat out with a Wilt never would have sat for that injury called a strained quadricep, although it didn't prevent him from playing til the end the night before against the Bucks. Even though the tickets were through my sons work, ie, free, I was still pretty pissed because i knew he wasn't hurt. Boringest NBA game in history. Dallas played 0 defense and Bulls went off for 144 points.

As for the KU game maybe I'll watch the recording, but don't have a great desire to do so since I know the result. Glad we kicked the crap out of those lowlifes between two great states. We've bounced back nicely after the Tennessee loss.

World Cup thread! • Dec 10, 2022 03:00 PM

In the other world cup, aka NCAA D1 soccer, Indiana and Syracuse will meet in the NC Monday evening, I think it's at 6 central. Indiana in case you didn't know is a multi generational dynasty. Coach Yeagley is the son of the coach who built it into a powerhouse and he's continued. His dad won 7 rings and the son now is in his 3rd NC game, but yet to win one.

Their goalie was spectacular last night and has a clean sheet for the entire tournament.

@Gorilla72 @mayjay I played college basketball and it was for Emmaus Bible College! I scored 2 points taking advantage of a defensive breakdown against Clarke University. They've actually developed a program that competes in the NCCAA, the extra C being Christian, and they were in the Final Four last year. When I played we were a glorified intramural team without a gym. Rented an elementary school gym for a day or two each week.

It's a school of only about 200 people and hats off to them for scheduling Grinnell, a school of 1600 students. Grinnell is the Loyola Marymount on steroids school that never met a shot it didn't like. They're famous for scoring but not necessarily winning because their act hasn't netted them too much success nationally I don't think.

To be honest calling it an NCAA record is a bit disingenuous. They knew they could win by just shooting 3's. It was against a non-NCAA school, so just like Billy Preston didn't really play NCAA basketball because it not against a D1 school, I really think Grinnell should be embarrassed for bragging about this 'accomplishment'.

The next year I entered the portal and went to KU but Larry Brown couldn't find a spot for me on the team.

Ok, I was trying to remember the name, thinking I knew it for some reason. Didn't know he was a Kansas. This is going to become a big story this weekend it looks like.

@Crimsonorblue22 Why? (actually don't answer that, I know why) They're our best rival. It's a circle the date type of game. The networks don't put us and KSU on national TV but for the 2nd year in a row they want to show us and misery. A chance to beat them is awesome!

I don't follow KU football recruiting at all but I just saw on twitter about a "talented RB" committing to KU, Johnny Thompson is his name.
