Fran they've only scored 20 points. They haven't had their composure on offense all game!
We scored! Wave the wheat!
We'd be the laughingstock of the country right now except there's a new banner hanging in the rafters.
I just looked at KenPom, he just dropped us to 123rd
Shut up Fran
As noted before they're being coached by a Duke guy so of course the foul count is 5-1 against us.
Wilson colder than the wind.
@Kcmatt7 Adams would've missed the FT anyways.
I can't believe we're going to lose to Harvard.
@Jayblaze said in KU vs Haaaarvard Game Thread:
According to WeatherBug, the Hawks have come out very cold.
Welcome to the Bucket! Nice comment.
Harris gonna have to learn a bit better to avoid fouls, been a sort of a problem this year at times.
Speaking of Minnesota, they beat 324 Ken Pom Chicago St today by 3. Goofers acting like Iowa.
@FarmerJayhawk Custer! Beautiful!
@RockChalkinTexas We're heading to Rochester tomorrow to our daughters and brand new grandson. It's been below zero all day.
@RockChalkinTexas Around 35 at noon in Chicago and not too bad now at 7.
Amaker played in the game where the K whistle first appeared, the 86 final four against arguably the best KU team ever with Danny and Kellogg and Thompson, and Dreiling and Hunter and a bunch of other pieces like Turg and Piper. But when 3 starters have 5 fouls one other 4 and no Duke player had more than 3, well the cards were stacked against us.
I forgot they're coached by a Duke player. Need some reason to hate Harvard
Brrrrrr....lllleettttssssggggoooo
@DanR 15 minute walk? Go Man! Stubhub works best when you're that close by waiting to buy until you're ready to go in.
Another way of saying this is, "man I'm so jealous of someone living 15 a minute walk to AFH and he can go when prices are low, and he's not sure he's going?"
@drgnslayr Great Comment! I've heard chatter with unbeaten teams or teams in a hot streak that their fans say 'we need to lose so we'll get better'. Horse Hockey as Sherman Potter would say! I don't believe it. I don't think you can say we don't win it all if we didn't get the wildcat lashing. I know it sounds kind of logical but not sure there's logic to it. Same players. What if it was close but we lost to them? Would that be a bonding type of loss too?
@dylans Great comment! I know my comment looks like I don't appreciate the championship very much. I do! It was a great thrill!
@HawkChamp Your comment is great too! Not sure how old you are but Dean Smith couldn't win the big one, neither could Coach K who was a nearly annual disappointment in the Final 4. But once the lid came off, those men succeeded a few times each.
Of course Iowa is not going to benefit at all from losing to Eastern Illinois University the alma mater of Sean Payton whom I saw play against KU in 85 or 86, and Tony Romo. Other than them Mattoon is just famous for corn. Iowa is going to endure taunts and mockery for decades to come.
@BeddieKU23 Their fans love him, well at least most it seems. They have an overdeveloped sense of their teams skill level. Last year was kind of hilarious. Both Iowa and UW were picked to finish in the lower half of the league. While Greg Gard turned a pick of finishing 1oth into a tie for the league, Iowa turned a pick of finishing 9th into 4th and earning a bye in the BIG tournament. While Gard was hands down the winner, many Hawkeye fans Fran should have gotten it for his 'accomplishment' of earning a bye. And they were serious. I'm glad I'm not a homer like that!
you can buy a ticket in that section, one row back for 90. 350 is a bit steep according to stubhub.
@BeddieKU23 Haha!! Was going to come here and gloat, but ya'll gloating for me!! Hilarious loss.
I remember the foul and how bad it got after it. But I'm still not sure we win. Last year I was similar in thought because Kentucky really embarrassed us. I thought after that loss there's no way that KU team is going to win the NC. Similar to 88 KU's win was paved with good fortune along the way. Playing Miami in Elite 8, injured Villanova in FF, 8th seed in NC game. We'll take the trophy and enjoy it as 'payment' for the Duke whistle in '86, the misfortune of playing red hot Arizona in without Hasse healthy, missing 18 of 32 FT's and losing by 3 in '03, the sting of Burke's bomb in 2013, the hurt of villanova owning us twice in their championship years, and even the dysfunctional unit that got embarrassed by USC, and not the least the terrible misfortune of losing a chance to show what we knew in 2020 when we knew we were going to win it all.
@BShark Yeah, I'm warming up to the team again after that Tennessee beatdown. Still gonna take some time for me to see how we respond to a similar team. Was Indiana similar? Even before Saturday I was saying IU was overrated.
@BShark Amazing stuff considering KJ's lack of height compared to Doke. I think that from what I've seen KJ is gun shy to shoot which is good considering his lack of any range at all.
Big jump in polls. I guess you demolish a ranked team you jump in rankings.
I think the Tennessee loss is too fresh in my memory to anoint this team as a repeat threat. It has been fun to watch however.
So are K-State players sitting out because they're transferring or going pro? Happens to a lot of teams. Is Saban saying I don't care if you're transferring, you're on THIS team still and you're playing? Not sure what the issue is here.
@dylans The base is bigger giving runners a 4 inch head start to 2nd. The pitcher is allowed two pickoff attempts. If he attempts a third the result needs to be the runner thrown out (which may happen more in this scenario) or the if the pitcher fails the runner is awarded the next base. Willie Wilson would have stolen 200 bases if this was a rule for him. Ricky H maybe 250?
It essentially allows a pitcher 1 pickoff attempt because if he fails on the 2nd, then he's really stuck so he's only going to use it in a sure thing situation.
It was part of an attempt to speed up the game. The pitch clock is coming this season I believe also and that absolutely will make games shorter. There wasn't really a need to change pickoff rules because stealing base has become far less important in todays game.
It's an absolute nightmare of a rule change. Unless you like intentional walks because when guys steal, there's going to be more IBB's as well because teams will want to set up a force again.
That being said, it will be interesting to watch teams adjust. Speedsters like Billy Hamilton are going to be changing games. Some teams will strategize to avoid others running wild on them.
But I don't like it....At all.
@AsadZ I think so. They also signed Billy Hamilton which sounds like a whoopde do signing but with the new rules limiting pick offs means he's likely to steal base every time he gets on. The rule is going to be shortlived I hope because it's the worst rule change in any sport ever!
@KirkIsMyHinrich I've known that for a while.
17 steals is 5 shy of the school record I just learned. Had 22 against Marquette in 1990.
21 bench points today which is good.
We finish with 5 minutes left in the time slot and no interviews? Come on ESPN
Who made that last 3?
Not much to criticize today so we have to pan the chant!
Loved the little arm raise pointing the other way down the court after that pass.
Showtime!!
@Eric-san Well I'm glad he missed then.
15 freaking steals
Juan's not my God :)
Start the bus Woodson, start the bus clap clap....
Stanford Steve is who?
Obi DaJuan KUnobi. I tried....
@Zabudda What do you mean? He's our leading scorer.
Doesn't take long to turn it around. 15 point halftime lead has grown to 16.
Stripes only called 5 fouls in Indy so far.
DanR it's your fault!
We're letting them gain some confidence
We already have 10 steals
